my wife and I wanted a date night last night and I pulled up yelp. She was sold on something different and once she saw the pictures on the website she immediately said YES! I want to start off by saying the staff were ALL amazing! Friendly, attentive and courteous. We ordered the guacamole which was better than it looked but really did not have any flavor or crunch. Very bland and I am a person that like a little heat. We then ordered the "Texas Fajitas" that were were told were authentic and amazing. Sorry to say they were a 1.5 out of 5. The dish comes with shrimp, steak and chicken. Let's start with the shrimp. The sizes of the shrimp were large but they had NO flavor at all. There was barely any steak except a very small portion that was really dry and overdone, again no flavor. As for the chicken I have never seen more YELLOW chicken in my life. It had more flavor than anything else but no really appealing to eat. I agree with one person's comment on no chips and salsa but what restaurant gives you lettuce in a bowl to put on a fajita? The ONLY flavor was the banana pepper that was WAY to HOT and took out any taste to the already bland food. All I could do was drink the water that was room temp since they do not give you any ice in the water??? Where I became very disappointed was with the bill and sour cream and the tortillas. In the bowl with the unknown lettuce we noticed other customers received we asked if there was any sour cream in the bowl. The nice server advised there was sour cream at the bottom. THERE WAS ZERO so we asked for some (for the record, it is not sour cream and it was very runny) only to find out we were charged .50 for it. The blue tortillas were very soft and in a real Mexican restaurant you would double up the shells to hold the food. Once again we where charged 2.00 for additional tortillas... Now for the bill and sadly where the world is coming to. When I asked for the bill the waitress handed me the new age bill of the swipe machine. I asked her for an actual receipt but the "machine" was jammed and would not print out anything. When I went to pay all I saw was a total and an area to tip. The world of owning a restaurant is becoming more seedy by the minute at let me tell you why. 1. I was not able to see the actual break down of the bill just a number. I would have said something about the overcharges had I received an itemized receipt before payment. 2. When the tip options came up this was APPAULING and if I see it again the manager will be called over. It is one thing to put a percentage 15% / 20% or whatever BUT under the percentage should not have a word associated. 20% is more than fair but under that number was the word "Good". Under the 15% was the word "Fair". These words play on a customer thoughts when tipping. 20% is more than fair especially here. The other part of the bill is that the tip is already calculated on the amount PLUS taxes. Tipping should not include taxes which would reduce the over all bill. I would also like to add Gwinnett County is ripping people off and becoming Chicago and New York faster than you know. 9% liquor tax on a drink, really? Overall 1.5 out of 5 I am said to say but the servers are only taking orders and were the best part of the experience. read more

Food: the food itself was good but portion was way to small for the price. We also had the Guacamole, it came out with hardly any chips. We had to keep asking for chips, actually small fried tortillas that you had to break apart, they were good just not near enough. Our margaritas glasses were only half full and the glass was small to begin with. Flan for desert, came out literally hot and runny. The menu was very limited. Service: was ok at best. There were only three tables seated and plenty of staff. Our waitress disappeared. We finally had to ask someone to get our waitress. The restaurant itself was pretty nice This was probably out of there control but there was a foul Oder wafting through. I think this place has a lot of potential. The location is pretty hidden so they need to step up their game if they are gonna last in that location. read more

Had an amazing time here celebrating a friend, food was amazing and the drinks were so good! The sunset drink was very very good and the others were good too! I would like to start by stating that I do not write reviews often; however after the experience I had last night, I have to say something. When looking at pictures of Anejo online, you have real high hopes as the ambiance looks like this place has real potential. Boy, you will be wrong. Side note: they really need to fixed their website menu as it's repetitive and doesn't reflect current menu. I know they aren't busy enough to do the admin work as two managers sat at a two top table for an hour on their phones when they opened. They claim to be a higher end Mexican restaurant and their prices match the claim. When I think of high end, I think superica and rreal tacos... I do not expect to be served food on plastic plates and bowls. Our waitress claimed they are so high end that they do not serve chips and salsa?!? When the hell did chips and salsa not qualify as high end? Also with these high price points, I expect the food to really WOW me. I feel like everything was missing the true wow factor. Everything I had was absolutely bland. We walked away and were just like meh. I have had better and more authentic Mexican food from a food truck or a restaurant attached to a gas station while paying a fourth of the price. We had reservations booked for our table at 5:30 for 7 people. We were trying to enjoy ourselves as we were catching up with our friends from abroad. As we were finishing our last round of drinks, we noticed all of the wait staff and management were watching us like hawks. They eventually asked us to move to a smaller table because they didn't manage their table seating properly for all the other larger tables around us and they had a reservation at 7 for 6 people. It is very bizarre in my opinion. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I made a reservation for this place to meet some family members for the holidays. This place is halfway between us. I got numerous text messages to confirm my reservation with the last one being during my drive there 30 minutes ahead of our time. When we arrived the place was closed. Our group had to find another place to eat. They could have texted me to say they would be closed. What a joke. read more

Anejo is a disappointment & example that bad managing can be the demise of a business I have to come on here and do something I to do and that is to give a negative review on a restaurant that was a favorite of mine. Anejo in Lawrenceville has the worst customer service and a General Manager that does not take accountability for the mistakes his Managerment team are responsible for. I habe now made 2 reservations at this restaurant and have found myself with locked doors and a hungry party having to find somewhere else to dine. The first time I called to confirm if they were open on Labor Day and I was told yes. I get there with my family that came in from NY and the location was closed. We wound up having to go to their Sister restaurant down the road ( Floridian) 2nd time this happened, was on 12/23 where i called and no one answered which is typical nowadays and I went on Google and was able to make a reservation, to go again with my family that was in town for the Holidays and the restaurant was closed for a holiday party. I did not get a call from the restaurant to let me know this. When I spoke to the GM he shrugged it off as well we posted it on social media. Not everyone is addicted to social media and go on restaurant pages. Many go by Google and / or phone calls. Needless to say, no matter how much i habe enjoyed the restaurant before, we will not be going there again and I urge anyone that plans on going to have secondary plans in the event they decide to close and not allow their patrons know as a courtesy to make other arrangements. read more

The atmosphere and the staff are great. you get a good view of downtown Lawrenceville and the music is good. However, the food taste can improve. we were a large party and therefore the table ordered almost everything in the menu. No one in our party thought the food was good tasting. The food presentation is 9 points, but the taste is closer to 4 points. The tacos are so so, the octopus was burnt and very chewy - although this plate is expensive, no one finished the plate or liked it. if you want a nice view and good looking drinks for pictures, this is a good spot. But if you are hungry, this place is not recommended. read more

The service was terrible. Firstly, we were met with an unwelcoming greeting. While walking to our table all the staff at the bar, including the manager stared us down. The manager parked himself there the whole time chatting with all the female staff. Our server came to take our order and once more. In the meantime, she was chatting with all other servers and the manager at the bar. The food was very underwhelming and very overpriced. Do NOT come here if you are expecting chips and salsa as an app. We ordered the cheese dip and got roughly 8 chips with it. When we asked for extra chips, we were charged an additional fee. Also, do NOT come here unless you are a regular. We felt extremely out of place as soon as we walked in. Next time, we'll settle for Taco Bell. read more

It's nice place with great food,nice ambience but TERRIBLE SERVICE. They really have a lot to improve o this. I visited this place a few times,waited for 15 -20 minutes and we were not asked for drinks when the place was 25% of it's capacity and our table was often unattended. My husband and I went to Anejo for our date night tonight. My husband had the skinny margarita and I had the spicy margarita they were both amazing! Next we had the guacamole with the little blue hand made tortilla's. The guacamole was fresh and very flavorful....we couldn't stop eating it. My husband had the enchiladas entree which he said was really good. I had the steak tacos and they were delicious. Everyone there was really nice. We didn't have to wait very long for our to come out. The atmosphere was very classy and romantic We are so happy to have another great restaurant downtown Lawrenceville! read more

It's a "yes" for Anẽjo! Authentic Mexican cuisine. The square in Lawrenceville has another win. We've been waiting for this restaurant to open and finally made a visit. You open the door and immediately climb stairs (I didn't notice an elevator but will look on next visit). Estefan is the manager who seated us a checked in a couple of times during our visit. Saturday afternoon was pretty quiet, so we were able to talk and enjoy drinks and appetizers. This is not your typical Mexican restaurant. Chips and salsa don't greet you at the table and there's no queso. The menu is plain but descriptive. Mary explained all the juices are fresh and made in-house, so we ordered skinny margaritas and they were awesome! At Mary's suggestion, we split the Chicharron de Ribeye appetizer and the guacamole, both large enough for sharing. Another round of margaritas and we were getting pretty full so we order two tacos to share. The Pastor with pork and pineapple, and the Barbacoa with shredded beef. Small tacos on blue tortillas, but full of flavor. We will be adding Anẽjo to our list of repeats. Can't wait to dive deeper into the menu on our next visit. read more

I took my mom here for New Year's Eve dinner and all I can say is WOW. Everything we ordered was so delicious. Unfortunately we didn't take picture because we were truly in the moment but I assure you this was the best Mexican food I've had... Ever! We ordered the ribeye and guacamole appetizer, Chicken and Shrimp Sopes, corn on the cob, corn soup, filet mignon and a new dulce de' leche salad. Literally everything was very flavorful, seasoned and marinated to perfection. I highly recommend the Sun Date drink as it was a perfectly semi sweet cocktail. Above all the service was amazing, even other waiters checked in on us from time to time just to be sure we were good. This is definitely my new go- to spot for downtown Lawrenceville. My husband's food, the enchiladas, was initially served cold, but upon complaining they brought out a fresh hot plate of food. The elote was delicious but messy. Me and my wife went on a cold day and they kept opening and keeping the door open and kept letting the cold air in, not the best thing to do when you want to relax and eat and drink. Food was decent but reminded me of tapas style. Very expensive for small tapa style plates. Both the drink and food menu is very limited and feel like the restaurant is unprepared or confused on what they want to offer. Went to Añejo for the first time last night. From the moment we stepped in we were greeted by friendly staff and a warm and inviting ambiance. Our server was very friendly and accommodating and most importantly the food was excellent. The chicken tortilla soup is some of the tastiest soup I have ever had!
