It was under warranty so the parts and labor were free but refrigerant was very expensive. So we were without AC for a week while waiting for what I can only assume in Texas summers is a pretty common part to go out. The tech did not mention that they could provide us with some window units at no cost. I found this out 2 days later when a person called me to update us on the status of the part they had to order for the repair. I told this person, "that would have been good to know 2 days ago before I rented some emergency cooling form a local company". I also had them out recently to do a very small plumbing repair. The plumber showed and did every he could to NOT help me out with the repair. This company used to be good until they sold out to a nationwide company. What a bunch of clowns. Do not use A #1 this was once a good reliable company. However over the last few years service has become worse and worse. My upstairs air conditioning stopped working 4 weeks ago. I waited 4 days for a technician to come look at it. He said it was because the filters were dirty. A #1 had just come and serviced both units a month and a half before and replaced the filters. We went ahead and replaced them anyway. Less than 24 hours after the technician left air conditioner stopped working again. We waited another 5 days for a technician to come. This one did a good job and diagnosed the problem as the control board and stated it need to be replaced, a he also said it was a part they kept in stock and shouldn't take long. We heard nothing from them afterwards. I called for days and all they did was send a message to the parts department and no one ever contacted us. A week after the 2nd technician came the downstairs air conditioning stopped working as well. Now because both unit were out the sent someone out the same day. I will say I was 4th of July so I was not expecting much. The same technician came back out and diagnosed it as the same issues at the upstairs unit. He said he would request some portable air conditioning units. It's now July 13th and both units are still out. We have not received any portable units. I called today and was finally told no parts have been ordered. I asked why and they stated I didn't not accept the estimate. I never received an estimate for either service call. Both units were installed by A #1 and are still under warranty. Both have been regularly serviced by them twice a year since they have been installed and have never been touched by another repair company. So in conclusion we have heard no updates after repeatedly calling for them, even escalated the issue to a manager, who we never heard from. We had to call again to finally find out parts have never been ordered. It's 100 degrees in my house for weeks and they don't care. Use another company you will get better and faster service else where. It should only have taken 3-5 business days to order and receive the replacement parts if they didn't have them. A/C went out- 96 degrees the home of two elderly people, customer service says technician will be there same day, appointment canceled twice, only to find out they will send someone sometime in the next 48 hours, no timeline no nothing, call someone else, find out when the technician from a1c who came out a few months ago installed a hard start kit that was not necessary which was installed wrong, and caused the unit to overheat and drain all the Freon from the unit causing it to break down. Stay FAR away from this company. Now seeing the very similar reviews here and elsewhere I see this is SOP for the new management. Used this company for years for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical, but the new ownership has completely destroyed this business. We spent over $12,000 in 2021 on a new system with a promised 14-year parts AND labor warranty. Now they refuse to honor the labor warranty because of one missed service visit that was never clearly disclosed as mandatory. From day one, this system was a disaster. Over 10 service calls since installation and it never worked correctly. We ordered a Rheem system and were sold a Daikin instead, paired with the wrong thermostat. Real HVAC professionals later found partially blocked ducts, improper airflow/CFM settings that did not meet Daikin specifications, and a badly misconfigured installation. The result? A 4-5 year old system that looks 15+ years old inside. Rust throughout the unit, rusted blower assembly, black mold-looking buildup, constant breakdowns, and now a failed blower motor. Their solution was to charge us $1,800 while refusing to honor the labor warranty they sold us. We requested management callbacks twice and never received one. At this point we've had to hire a real HVAC company to replace the entire system because this one was improperly installed from the start. It is 6:15 and still no service tech. When it comes to the warranty work, they are not available. After the 2nd call, a tech showed up at 8pm. Checked the error code and said they do not carry the part on the truck. I gave them the error code that it was a cooling sensor. You would think they would come with the part. They sent a tech who looked at my unit that was cooling fine at that time and still is, said I need a new unit at a cost of $6277. I called A#1 Air over the weekend as our upstairs unit seemed to fail. Tech reported the repair bill would be over $6000; new blower motor, new condenser motor, new this, new that. "Not really worth repairing", he said. Recommended a new unit; "good news is we have one available today". I called another provider; there's a hairline fracture in the metal tube leading in to the coils. That's what is causing the freezing & ice buildup on the coils. Solder the metal tube, install new freon, and I'm done, after a few hundred dollars, rather than over $18,000 quoted by A#1 Air for a new unit. So, A#1 tried to play me just like they claim "the other guys" do, on their radio spots. Shame on you, A#1 Air. read more

We purchased a AC unit from A#1 over 13 years ago and have maintained a maintenance agreement for all of those years. Their technicians ALWAYS push some new service or product that they say we need. The straw that broke that camels back came last month. Our AC stopped blowing cold air. We called and after about 10 phone calls were told that they could not come out to service our AC. Thank Goodness that happened. We found another repairman who came out. He asked us who serviced our AC last because the last technician incorrectly installed a starter that was not needed. This starter forced the AC to run until it ran out of freon. A#1 pushes their technicians to push unnecessary services and products for commission. Well, this last technician, not only told us that we needed this part but told us how our AC was on its last leg and we needed to think about a new unit. Little did we know that the starter that he pushed almost ruined our AC. I'm sure if we hadn't called another company, we would have been told that we needed a new AC instead of just removing the starter and adding new freon. read more

Urgent warning to stay away from this company. The one star rating is pushing it. If I could give zero stars I wouldn't hesitate. We purchased a brand new AC system from them in July 2023, and the problems started almost immediately. By August 2023, the unit was already shutting off. Since then, we have had numerous service calls over the past 3 years for the exact same issue. In September 2025 alone, the system failed 3 separate times requiring 3 different service visits. Eventually, the inverter board was replaced. The system worked temporarily until the end of April when it failed AGAIN. This most recent visit was the final straw. Their technician told us the issue was electrical, so the company sent out their electrician who claimed our entire electrical panel needed to be replaced and quoted us nearly $14,000. We decided to get a second opinion from another licensed electrician. He determined that the ONLY issue was a breaker that needed to be replaced. Total cost: $150. The AC has been working since. The lack of customer service has been just as frustrating as the repairs. Back in September we requested a full service log and never received it. We also repeatedly requested calls from management and never received callbacks despite multiple promises that someone would contact us "the same day." Most recently, after another failed callback promise, I finally received a call Monday from "Javier," who presented himself as management and offered to send a lead technician for another assessment. We later found out he is not even a manager. His handling of the situation showed little understanding of customer service or accountability. The only defense this company seems to have is that we did not sign up for a maintenance plan. That argument makes no sense when this brand-new unit has been repeatedly failing since shortly after installation. We have barely had a chance to schedule routine maintenance because the system has broken down every few months and required constant service calls for the exact same issue. We are extremely disappointed and frustrated after spending so much on a "new" system that has continuously failed. Save yourself the stress, time, and money. Stay away. read more

I added a review to their website, but it looks like they removed it. I had a complete system a/c installed in 2023. They never called to come back and check on it after they installed it nothing. I had issues a few months ago, called got a phone call never technician. I started having more issues with my system. They finally came out here last Thursday of June 2026 still had issues. Just had another technician. Leave my house today June 30, 2026 said that there was a failing part in the AC, causing my system, not to cool my house properly, but he had to see if it was still under warranty on labor. I have always changed my filters out in a timely manner. I will keep everybody updated if they try to charge me labor to install a filling part on a system that is barely 3 years old that has a long warranty on it. They should not charge nothing for faulty equipment that they installed and completely blew me off months ago when I tried to get them to come out here. Thursday the mother board was hit during the storm, they came Friday saying they had to order parts but quoted a large fee to my son. Ryan stated the part would be installed Monday. One Star Review !! This company installed an entire HVAC system, including a downflow gas furnace converted to propane, and the experience has been exhausting and deeply concerning. Before installation, we verified in writing that all manufacturer-required conversions and post-installation testing would be performed. Despite that assurance, the system was installed without proper downflow and LP-specific setup and verification, even though propane systems require additional configuration and confirmation. Midway through the installation, the crew advised that the system's electrical amp requirements exceeded what the home could support -- something that should have been identified before selling and installing a full system. We were then presented with an additional ~$8,000 upsell to address an electrical issue they had not previously identified. The brand-new system is experiencing repeated lockouts and safety-limit faults. Required post-installation testing was not performed, allowing the system to overheat under normal operation and sustain damage, triggering repeated safety-limit faults. This led to multiple return visits and proposed component replacements tied to improper installation and configuration, not equipment failure. One of the techs stated that they only do testing if there is an issue later and not right after install. In addition, new hallway carpet was damaged during installation, adding property damage to an already problematic job. What's most troubling is that this company will promise the moon and sell you a great system, but then fail to install it correctly, properly commission it, or provide complete startup documentation afterward. This was not a partial repair -- it was a new, full system installation, making the lack of proper planning, setup, testing, and care unacceptable. found this company online with a $49.00 price to unclog a drain. booked a service call for a saturday and the plumber arrived in the late afternoon. tried to unclog it from the drain and was unable to so he removed the trap and cleaned it out and cabled out the line. was unable to put the trap back in place because it was old and would not seal up again. he did not have a replacement to install so at this point i paid roughly 350.00 for a sink that didn't work. when he returned on moday he charged $535.00 to install a new trap and drain assembly. he was a very couteous and nice fellow but he told me he normally didn't do work like this - he was mostly involved in main line cleanouts. he had problems doing the installation and then when he finally finished he informed the faucet fixture was leaking and that would be another $400.00 installation charge after i purchased a new one. after he left, the assembly that pop ups the stopper in the sink fell off. i certainly wasn't going to call them back after all of that. so to conclude, i'm out almost $900.00 for changing out the trap and improperly installing a drain assembly. i don't expect to recoup any of that cost from them knowing how they deal with people but what a ridiculous amount of money to be charged for basically replacing a trap and improperly installing a drain assembly. i think this story speaks for itself. read more

In my opinion this is the most unprofessional HVAC company! Since Jan 1 they have been to my home around 8-9 times to 'repair' a 5 ton unit that they installed improperly 3.5 years ago. Every season they have to come out and repair or replace something to get it back operational. Now, here we are on March 20th, 2026, and I was promised on the 17th that it would be operational by the weekend. Tomorrow, we have my daughter's 6th birthday party with around 30-40 guests and we now have no operational AC as temperatures are slated to be upper 90's throughout the weekend. We had to purchase some very expensive equipment from A #1 Air, a new Trane Unit) in July 2025, today it's Sept 2025 and it's already failing. I have been trying to get someone to come fix it since it's leaking and it's now leaking and getting our floor soaked (it's still under warranty, since it's only 1.5 months old) and 2 days later...NOTHING! I warn anyone to decide to go elsewhere else for service. It's like pulling teeth. And some of the service guys don't really know what they're doing. 8 days my family has been without a working AC unit. My children have had to stay the night with family and friends so they can sleep. Our dog cannot cool off in warm temps so he is with my parents out of precaution. Our current unit is 2 years old and was installed by A#1 Air. We have used this company for 14 years because they came in clutch when we lived in Haslet. Fourteen years ago we had a 1 year old and I was pregnant and that baby (Eden) was due any day in the September heat. A broken AC in the worst part of summer. They came out right away and fixed the issue. So we have loved them and been loyal. We went with a new unit 2 years ago that was top of the line. Sunday the 26th of April we got home and our unit wasn't working. We called and they put us on an emergency list and said they would be out that night. They called later letting us know due to an influx of emergency calls they would get to us on Monday. Monday our tech came out was so kind and could not figure out the issue. Called a co worker and they ordered a part. So no fix Monday, Tuesday waited for the part to come in. Wednesday tech called at 8am said he would be to us in the hour. That hour came and went. Called us again at 9am said he was leaving then and would be there by 10am. At 10:30 still no there I called and asked where our guy was, they said leaving then would be there by 11am. It would be a 15 min job to put in the new part. I needed an am appointment because Eden was singing the national anthem that night at the TCU game and I didn't want to miss it! He got there about 11:15am. That part was installed it did not fix the issue. So he was trouble shooting other things. He was working so hard for us. On the phone with his supervisor, on the phone with the company that made our unit. He was there from 11:15am to 10pm. He was the kindest man, worked so hard for us but basically said they were going to order more parts per his supervisor. (Even overheard his supervisor say the guy we had out should be pulled from the job and another guy should come who is trained on our specific unit. But they couldn't get him out.) His supervisor wanted to trouble shoot those new parts to see if that fixed this issue. We were told the supervisor would be out the next day with said parts to start trying something else. That was on Thursday. No phone call in the am to say they were coming. So I called. They said it looked like our appointment was on hold. I asked why. The operator said she didn't know, but she would put a message in to someone at dispatch. They would call us back and explain. We called three more times every couple of hours. We once again had to rearrange our day. They said we'll send this over as an emergency. They didn't call. Friday am my husband calls. We explain we have had no updates, and wasted another day at home for someone who didn't show up with no communication. Then we are told the supervisor cancelled the appointment because the parts they ordered weren't in. But no one informed us. We can't even get a return phone call. Saturday we call multiple times. Receive a message back that the person who would know isn't in till Monday. Sunday leave it alone. Call this morning Monday the 4th at 8:15am. Day 8 without an AC... were told it would get passed on to the parts manager she is in at 9am and I would get a call back. NO CALL BACK. 4pm today my husband calls again, asks to speak with the manager. Company says a service manager will call us back. Yeah right. Our unit is under warranty. They are still troubleshooting so if this part we are waiting on still doesn't fix the problem... we will still be waiting! Years ago this company was on top of things and saved the day. They were on time and communicated. We recommended them to everyone. I am beyond livid. I never vent. But I don't want anyone else to have to deal with this kind of customer service. We have called other places who will not even look at our unit because we are under warranty with another company. Because they don't wanna fix someone else's mess (rightfully so). We had low pressure in our house from our master bathroom and moving to our kitchen. Seemed like dirt/sediment seeping into our pipes. Called A#1 Air on Thursday afternoon because not only do they handle air issues, they also handle electric and plumbing. We've used them several times for various jobs and what we love about them is they will come out to assess your issues and they don't charge overtime fees or outside of what other companies consider "business hours of 8am-5pm." They will come out at your convenience to help you. They are upfront and honest about the repairs needed and agree to a price if you choose to move forward. Our appointment was scheduled for Friday. Kelly contacted me to let me know his expected time of arrival. He did his own troubleshooting throughout the house, the faucets, the tankless water heaters, and explain it wasn't dirt but some resin or materials from the tankless water heater as they should be descaled at least once a year. We werent aware of that. We were happy he determined the cause, gave us a quote to get it all cleaned and flushed. He's coming back today, Monday, to complete the job. I asked if I could expedite with air mail at my expense and they ignored me without saying why. I had an appointment for them to look at an alternative and they cancelled it without telling me and left me sitting in the heat for hours. If I didn't have a warranty I would fire them. I had a brand-new AC unit installed by A1 Air just four years ago, and it has already broken down three times. The first two failures were covered under warranty. They said they don't reuse refrigerant, so I had to purchase 7 pounds of new refrigerant. Let me be clear: This is an unacceptable failure rate for a modern HVAC unit. I have a separate unit installed by another company eight years ago that has required zero service calls outside of routine maintenance. In contrast, the A1 Air-installed unit has turned into a recurring expense and source of stress. Yes, A1 Air has impressive marketing and courteous technicians, but do not be fooled--they are a profit-first operation. Their shiny vans and polished service mask a deeper issue: a refusal to stand behind their product. It's not just about the money--it's about principle. If your system fails multiple times within just four years, and the company's response is to hand you a $1,000 bill for a critical repair, that's not customer care--it's exploitation. I have all receipts and correspondence to back up this experience. I'm now being forced to bring in a different HVAC company to assess what A1 Air failed to fix--again. No inspection done and they say claim is too old to honor work. City confirmed no inspection done. A1 now will not help me. Bad company bad business people. if only you all could see pics. They write to call in, acting like they care - but all I got was dismissed and bullied. I have spoken to so many people that have similar results from A#1Air. Anyone wanting to join in a class action lawsuit, feel free to DM me. Previous: arrived. I asked a few questions and he screamed at me: Are you STUPID?..........It got so bad I finally told him I was not interested in using them to fix my AC. He started yelling that it was because of his ethnicity. I said, no, it is because you have been argumentative since you got here. He wanted to fix one thing in order to find out if other things were working............pay for each fix (three in a row), then need a full replacement anyway.........but still pay for the three that were fixed but the unit was not working...........I told him I was not interested and he purposefully rewired the unite incorrectly, AND REWIRED the electrical box where it caused a short and shorted out my wiring, causing a short and many appliances to burn up. We had sparking and burning - Oncor and the city and electricians had to come out. This guy chose to cause a house fire. BTW - ONE of those 3 parts did actually need to get replaced - at 1/4the the price he quoted me...............the other parts worked fine after Victor from 365 rewired everything correctly.............No, I did not need a new unite either. The master valve was broken due to corrosion after I shut off the water to the house. I called them and they charged a dispatch fee of $129 since I called them on a Saturday. Do bear in mind that this is just for diagnosing. The guy showed up take a look at it and said that he need to replace the whole plumbing and it will cost me $3,000 dollars. I asked him why can't he just replace the valve only, and he said when something is this bad it has to be replace the whole thing and he also asked if I know how to fix it since I keep bringing this up. So I called someone right in front of him and asked for a second opinion, and he suddenly said he can bump the price down to $2,300. Oh wow, I told him just hold on to that quote. Now I'm wondering if they actually do service or they just charged dispatch fee and give out outrageous price and make money through the dispatch fee. At this rate, I rather just call local or family owned business than a corporate like this. Another side note I want to point it out that this company has a 4.8/5 stars with more than 10,000 Google review, but somehow got a whopping 2.5 stars on Yelp. This make me wonder if they paid for BOT review. read more
