Clearly there was a communication issue with staff. There should have never been a charge for a replacement estimate. I received a call back with a sincere apology for the mistake of "rooky" person who answered phone when I called. Ramon was very sincere and felt bad the quotes were done by others and work/project finished. First thing: EXCELLENT, PROFESSIONAL INSTALL AND SERVICE. We did our homework, got 3 bids on a pair of AC / Furnace units for our house. The bid from a company within a warehouse store was about 25% higher than A-1. We reviewed an offer from a "side job" installer which was a bit lower than A-1. So on what basis did we choose A-1 and why are we so satisfied? The first and most obvious reason is that the entire procedure was great. From communication to install to aftercare inspection it was a great experience. We are comfortable that our AC needs in the long term are going to be smooth and we need that in our summer heat. PLEASE CONSIDER: While the "side job" installer may have performed well; the aftercare scared us. He had only himself and not a company behind him to react if there were a problem. What if he were sick or on vacation? We could see ourselves without a tech maybe for a week. In July. With no AC. This actually happened to us a few years back when it unfortunately took 4 days before a tech could visit us due to our service contract with a home warranty company. NO AC for 5 days in the summer! We wanted a team. A-1 was the correct choice for us. We are completely confident in the aftercare they can provide. This is a somewhat mixed review. We used A1 for a small job, installing a ceiling fan in our guest bedroom. When I called to book the appointment I specifically asked if our area Boulder City was serviced by them. The woman I spoke with put me on hold for a moment and said "yes we cover that area." I booked the appointment. The man arrived on time, he was polite, he wore a spotless company smock, and was very careful not to scratch our floors by using a canvas. The installation went smoothly with the exception of a small hitch. He popped our circuit breaker. Here is the rub I have with A1, when it came time to charge me, the bill was for three hours @ $80.00 per hour. I checked our clock and told him he had only been there two hours. He told me he was charging me for travel time. I didn't say anything but it was obvious I was not happy. He said he would call the office and see if they would knock something off the bill. Whoever he spoke with took off the travel time. So in the end it came to $160.00 which was $35.00 more than the previous electrician we used for exactly the same job in another room. The job was small, but well done. We have had no problems. The worker was fine. I did not appreciate the the attempt at the extra charge. Someone else may have just paid it without question. They are more expensive than the other company we used and I am slightly jaded by the experience. read more

Gave the reception everything they needed to know I even had the compressor waiting to be picked up on warranty but yet quoted me when they got there for 6-8 hours on overtime. I needed an electrician and after calling several companies on a Saturday afternoon, they were the only one to respond. 90 minutes from my call, they were there and repaired my breaker box. If I could give 0 stars I would. They WAY over charges for a new system, 3 units and new ducts. Charged me almost triple and at the time I did not know better and was desperate to have AC. That was in 2005. The Units have NEVER worked properly. I had to call them 3 months after the install because one if the units crapped out and they wanted to Charge me $150! 3 months after I spent 25k!! I ended up calling someone else who said they did not ground the wires properly or hook up the circuit board properly and that is why it kept shorting out. He fixed it for $75 including a new panel and I will never again call A-1. There are too many mediocre HVAC companies and a couple good ones to waste your time with one this bad. read more

Words like "appalling", and "disgraceful" come to mind as I write this review, detailing my personal experience with the dirty business practices I was just subjected to. I started with A-1 in March of 2012, on a monthly service contract, where they would change the filters in my 12 roof units every month. Come June, when the weather got really hot, the units weren't keeping up. As an experiment, to keep these things running as smoothly as possible, I asked if we could amend our contract to change the filters every 2 weeks instead of every 4, to insure maximum airflow. They said yes, and quoted me a much higher price because it was double the work. I understood and agreed, so they tore up the old contract, and wrote me a new one. (Ultimately, it didn't make any difference at all in the efficiency of the units, so in retrospect, it was a bad idea.) So we rode it out, almost until the end of the year, but oddly, they didn't show up for either of their scheduled December visits, then called today, (on 1/11) to schedule the filter change. (Mind you, I pre-pay for changes every 2 weeks, and as of today, they haven't been here in 6 weeks!!) OK, so I go up on the roof and check the filters, to see if they were clogged after 6 weeks without a change, and they were actually very clean. In fact, they probably don't need to be changed again for another couple of weeks. So I told A-1 that they didn't need it, and that I'd like to switch my service back to monthly, being that we are essentially changing new filters every 2 weeks, and that was wasteful and unnecessary. They told me they couldn't do that, because I signed a bi-weekly contract, and that I had pre-paid through April. I told them that we could switch to monthly, and just extend the pre-paid contract to out a bit so that everything was equal. (Same number of filter changes, just over a longer duration) They told me that they couldn't do that, because I had signed a contract. So the customer's actual needs did not matter here, they had a signed contract. Mind you, they had no problem amending the contract last June, when doing so meant more money for them. So it is something that they CAN do, they are just choosing not to. I am so disappointed in how utterly dirty this was to do to me, that I am abandoning the money that I had pre-paid them through April, and firing them on general principle. So they can keep my Jan-April money, and since they never showed up in December, I suppose they got over on me there too. But life is long, a different company will enjoy my money for the rest of my life. read more
