I don't know where to start but this plumbing team just sucks. They were hired to do the repipe in our condo this week. For the first few days they came in at 10 Am when they said they will come at 8AM. During the repair they would leave a mess after making bigger holes in the walls and not covering the walls that lead right to the outside. They never told us when the water would be turned off and when. In addition they never wore shoe covers when entering our unit. We have cats and we asked them to cover the holes with temporary plastic but they said they would charge us $150 for that job. The repipe looks okay for now but very unpleased with their working habits. read more

A1 Speedy Rooter is the most helpful and professional company I have had the pleasure of working with in a long time. My water heater was not functioning properly and I really didn't want to get oversold like I have been in the past. The technician was very honest and explained that it would be a process of elimination. Best case scenario, I would just have to replace my pilot but emphasized it wouldn't be a guarantee fix. Worst case scenario, I would need to get a new water heater. Unfortunately I did have to get a new water heater but now I have perfect hot water. This company's prices are very fair and I can tell they aren't trying to get one over on you. I would definitely use their services again and would highly recommend them to anyone. I am adding a review on here after reading the response the business owner left on my fiancé's review. I thought her review summed up our experience pretty well and I am disappointed to see the response. The response (from the owner, mind you) discloses personal information of ours and most of all - shows no signs of remorse for the bad experience we felt we received. Regardless of the size of business Yelp should be a place where customers can write how they feel without getting bashed. Overall seems like this business can work on receiving and interpreting reviews more constructively. As for the repair, I do appreciate the hard work that the team put in. The crew was mostly friendly and they came in the past several days to complete a huge project. Kudos to them. From my experience I noticed a couple of things that could be improved. In general it is about attention to detail. First, the crew did not vacuum very thoroughly after the first day. Our bedroom carpet and furniture is covered in wood chips. Second, while I understand that the HOA has hired a different contractor to cover the walls, it is important to point out that the last contractor had put temporary coverings on all the holes of our unit. I think it would've been a pretty trivial task to perform the repairs and at least put the coverings back where they were. Especially for holes that connect directly to the outside. This left our living room and kitchen exposed to the outdoors so I had to cover them myself after the repairs were done. Wearing booties, while we had not asked, would have been nice as extra brownie points. But all in all these complaints are not major given this was a huge project spanning 5 days. I think for the repair I would've given these guys a 3 star, but factoring in the owners handling of the other review I will be giving a 1 star. I will not be using their services moving forward. read more

This is an updated review from my previous one years ago. A-1 Speedy Rooter and Plumbing has done it again. I've used them for well over a decade now on many jobs because they are really good at what they do and very professional. In the past, they have worked on my house, as I had issues with my water heater, kitchen sink, toilets, etc. You name it, they have fixed it and replaced it. The other day, I needed them again due to a gas leak at my office. I called A-1, and within an hour their worker Bernie came out. This was important as this was my office and I needed to be open. Bernie came and trouble shot the issue, and told me that he can come back tomorrow because it was late, getting dark, and to get all the parts. Shortly after, I was given a quote, and Bernie was at my office first thing, next morning. It took him a couple of hours to replace (not repair) the gas line, reroute it so it didn't go underground like it did previously (I spoke with the Gas Company guy and he told me that a lot of companies will continue to go underground so they can charge more, and that the gas pipe will need to be replaced sooner). I didn't tell this to Bernie but he basically told me since I have a raised foundation, it would be better to reroute it above ground, as it'll last longer and cheaper. Who tells you that? I was impressed. Just like all the other jobs that were done by A-1, everything looked great. When I called the Gas company to come back out to turn the gas back on, even the worker from the Gas company said that whoever I hired, did a great job. Hearing that from someone from the Gas company, I knew why I keep hiring A-1 Speedy Rooter when I need a plumber. Btw, Bernie was very professional, honest, and knew excactly what he was doing. We just opened our business and due to the building having been closed for several years, the plumbing became clogged. We called A1 late at night and we was tended to right away. The very next morning, Bernie came out to our business and quickly assessed and solved the issue. We were very impressed with the professionalism and speed of service. Highly recommend this company! We had an old hose bib that was soldered on and calcified. My husband tried to replace it on his own but it wouldn't stop leaking. Called Dan last week for 3 removal and new toilet installations. The toilets were the WR (Water Ridge Costco Private Label) one piece dual flush toilets. His rates for toilet installations are standard with all professional, licensed plumbers. He spent a good amount of time with me discussing the installation since I was thinking about doing it myself. I was upfront about what I was willing to pay to make it economical for me to hire someone to do it. Needless to say, I hired him to do one of the three, and glad I did. Bernie came out to do the second floor master bedroom installation and removal. Totally cool guy. Professional, courteous, and honest when dealing with me. He's been working with Dan for a long time. He used some extra part I needed for the new toilet which he didn't charge extra for me, even though I offered to pay for them. I'm really glad I found these guys on my Google search. Yes, that's where I found them first. And then here on Yelp. Bernie's workmanship was spot on. No leaks, no problems. He also helped me carry down the old Toilet. Called last night to make a morning 9am appointment. The guys came at 9am sharp and proceeded to tell me what they had to do in order to find the gas leaks in my house. I explained I smelled it on and off in one area of my house for the past week. John was very informative and explained everything to me so I could understand thoroughly what they were doing, the leaks they found and what they had to do to replace it. Dustin was training but did an exellent job replacing the pipe underneath my house with the help of Simon. SocalGas told me twice I had no leak and the third guy told me I had a small leak but obviously he wasn't going to go under my house to check. Off of smelling gas in one area they actually found leaks in three different areas and suggested I changed one of the valves since it was old and rusted. They guys spent 4.5 hours making sure all my pipes and valves were replaced and working properly before leaving. I'll definitely keep this business bookmarked for any future plumbing needs and highly recommend this to any one who needs a plumber asap! They are 24 hours but there is an after hours charge if you need them past working hours. So if its not an emergency and can wait till morning I would call them to book an appointment for the next available opening. Very professional, quality work and honest. Discovered a clogged toilet when I returned from work. I can't afford to take the next day off to wait around for a repair and learned that many other outfits charge a HUGE after hours "emergency" fee. A-1 Speedy responded to my call right away. Incredible service and help on a Saturday night! I didn't even use their services. I came home to a large rumbling noise in the garage. Water heater leaking! I had never experienced the subwoofer sound from a water heater. I called A-1, and they walked me through what to do. Shut off water and the pilot. That did the trick. I had no idea, and was honestly a bit scared to deal with it. It was LOUD. The nice woman on the phone had me text her pictures, just to be sure of the issue. Set my mind at ease, then called our home warranty company to get the process started. But the peace of mind these guys gave me, for free? I can't say thank you enough. Incredible service! Our tenants called us to let us know that the garbage disposal wasn't working. I called A-1 and they had someone over there within an hour! Once they got there, they attempted to troubleshoot the issue and even rewired the power cord to see if that was the problem. As a landlord, I've dealt with so many plumbers who just come in and immediately recommend replacement without even attempting to repair. So, I had A1 come out to investigate plumbing issue. Doing an ADU and contractor said I might have 3/4" line in wall. Wanted to find out if I had 3/4" inch line or just 1/2". One other plumber told me I only had 1/2" on the first floor. I told him that another plumber said I only had 1/2" line. A1 said, "no, i guarantee you have a 3/4" line under the kitchen sink. All I have to do is cut the drywall and I can show you. It will cost $150." So, I said ok even though I dont like having holes in my wall even if under the sink. So, he cuts the hole, looks, and says, "Hmm. looks like you only have 1/2" That will be #150." So, I'm left with a hole in my wall and another hole in my wallet for $150. Gee thanks. Can I pay you to you to put more holes in my wall? What happened to the "I guarantee" read more

My washing machine was leaking from one of the hoses so I call them. They told me the problem has been solved by replacing the hose and should be good now. The day after We noticed there was a leak again so I had to see it by myself. They used the old hose and never changed it. They hooked the hot water to the cold and also used old washers. After I called them several times they told me that they would get back to me, but they never did. Not happy with the service. They just looking for easy fix and ask for the money. I am so impressed with George and Elias from A-1 Speedy. We had a cracked santee pipe in the shared walls of our condo association and received a quote from A-1. We thought the quote was too high and contacted another plumber who gave us a quote for 30% less. The other plumber came out and said he could not fix the cracked santee unless three wood boards were removed. A structural engineer and contractor got involved, said it would cost $3700 to move the three wood boards, blah blah blah. I called A-1 and spoke to Nancy, who called George and confirmed with him that he could do the work and not have to remove beams!!! Nancy made it happen for me - George and Elias came out on a Friday and worked pass 8:40 pm to get the work done. They ran the water for 20 min to confirm no leaks. They are so polite, no fooling around or breaks and fixed the problem without telling us that we had to remove three wood beams. We are not surprised that they have 5 stars - we would give them 100. They are honest, professional, responsive. Save yourself some time and hire A-1! read more

Last night about 7pm the drains backed up, 3 hours before an out-of-town guest was to arrive. Sewage was backing up in the toilets and the smell was really bad. We called the rooter guy we've used before, but he wouldn't come out until this morning. I hopped on Google maps, typed in "rooter" near me and saw Speedy Rooter was the closest. Dan said he'd be here in 15-20 minutes and offered us his regular-hours price for rooting out the drain in the front yard. Even though he ran into a couple problems, he didn't charge extra. Even educated us in the type of pipe used in the neighborhood, why it's deteriorating (we're in an old neighborhood with huge trees) and different methods of fixing future, more serious, problems. Came back out a few months later and clears another blockage, no charge!!! whoot woot great customer service

I needed a plumber to install bath and sink fixtures as well as repair leaky tub faucets. We were quoted a price, agreed on it, they worked on it same day, then when it was time to pay there was a surprise additional cost for small parts. As long as the issues were solved I was OK with it so I paid out of pocket in cash the additional costs they asked for. 3 weeks later, the tub handles that were installed and spout got very loose. They immediately came out to address the problem but not without the technician blaming me for rough usage. OK, sure. A week after this the hot water handle was closing all the way, however, continued to leak water at a fair rate. I called them back for a follow up to the issue that was the purpose of my call a month previous-TO FIX THE LEAK--and they told me it would now be a very costly repair that would not be covered by them nor that it was their responsibility for the leak. Get this: they didn't even bother to come out again to inspect or make a 100% assessment of the issue. FYI, I called another local and well vouched for plumber and he immediately rectified the issue in less than 2 hours (that included driving out to get new parts). I give this company 2 stars for their immediate response, but everything else, from their workmanship and experience I would not even rate. A plumbing company is all about knowledge and integrity and this company is a basic plumbing service not a comprehensive one. If you compare this company to an auto mechanic, they'd only be qualified for filling air in tires and oil changes. You wouldn't trust them to change spark plugs or flush brake fluids...those are too involved and they will do a job that is in their best interest and not yours. You have been warned. I think these other reviewers have only done basic work here. If you are a plumber and can't fix a leaky faucet right the first time, you should be in a different field of business. The owner Dan and his employee Elbert is superb. Our 3rd floor leaked to the 2nd floor and flooded the entire 2nd floor. You can imagine how stressful that can be. Dan understood the urgency to get someone over to help me the same day. Therefore, he sent over Elbert, who diagnosed the problem within 5 minutes. Elbert wasted no time and started working on it immediately. Within a couple of hours, everything was taken care of. Because the issue was so big that it affected my garage. The ceilings are soaked with water and my garage does not open. Which I will need an Electrician and someone who knows how to fix the dry wall. Plumber was on time, courteous and seemed knowledgeable.Would have been at least 4 stars, if the original call had resolved the issue. After inspecting the drip in tank, said a fill valve would be replaced, and quoted the fee. Asked if the rubber flapper or supply line would be changed he said no. On completion, he said he changed the supply line anyway, and upped the original quote, saying it was recommended to change the supply line if the fill valve was being changed, (hence the reason for the earlier question to him). After he left, called him as fill valve was refilling every few mins. To his credit, he did reply in a timely manner. He said the problem was likely with the rubber flapper, which on inspection he had noticed it being worn, (hence the reason for the earlier question above). So why not mention it while on site? Since the visit was to fix a leaking toilet then shouldn't all of the leak be addressed at the same time, after all, the supply line was replaced after initially wasn't planning to? We left it at that, since it was indicated there'd be a separate service charge to return to add the flapper. read more
