Did not show up on time (like 3 hours late) for appointment at which they knew I could be buying several thousands in security cameras. when I called to complain they said, "our appointments don't go by time, they go by time blocks". I explained that people who live in our area have work, meetings and we don't have several hours to wait for people who don't show up and then charge huge fees. That was the last time. I gave up on them. The time before that they charged me $500 to rekey two locks after a tenant moved out even though I had made the appointment a few days ahead and was assured there was not an emergency fee. The first time I went to get a key made for a classic car they broke the car key that had a working radio signaling device in it and couldn't reprogram the new key, saying my car was "defective". Terrible experience going here. I came here to have copies of my house key made. I pulled out the original key along with my keychain to let the employee know which one. I was going to take that key off the keychain but the employee said I dont need to. She took the entire keychain to the copy area and proceeded to copy it. I didn't check the finish product, which was my fault. I came back home and realized that she copied the wrong key. So I drove back to the shop and wanted to let her know. She said it wasn't her fault and said I must have given her the wrong key... I specifically needed the door key to be copied and wanted to take it out of the keychain for her but she didnt want to so now she charged me for the 2nd time. It's not about the money, it's about customer service and this is an example of a terrible one. read more

I had the unfortunate experience of someone trying to break into my place one day *while* I was home. I could hear someone picking the lock and luckily I was able to get out. Because my lock was tampered with, my key would no longer work. I researched high quality deadbolts and was on a mission to change mine out. Rich and Marg were awesome in guiding me toward the the Schlage Primus Deadbolt. It was expensive-- around $215 just for the deadbolt, but I feel a whole lot better now that it's on my door. They were also really helpful in showing me how to install the deadbolt and let me take a video clip of them with my phone so that I could use it later when it came time to do it on my own (even though I had a friend do it). read more

As a long time San Jose resident I had to call a locksmith for service. I called AA Lock. That was a huge mistake. They came out and rekeyed two locks leaving the lock on my front with way too slop and play in mechanism. I called them back to correct the issue. They came back and charged me $50.00 more than the original service call. When I asked if I would be charged for the call back, the technician call his office and they said to charge me. Needless to say I was not happy. I would strongly suggest that any one thinking of using AA Lock I would definitely look else where. Thank goodness I waited until Monday before calling them back, otherwise I what have been charged for an emergency service call. All I have to say is think twice before calling AA Lock read more

I needed my locks rekeyed and decided to give this company a try. The quote they gave me for two locks was good in comparison to other quotes so I decided to make an appointment. I was really surprised when they told me that they could be there in 30 minutes and were promptly on time. The gentleman was not super talkative, but was very nice and very friendly. He got the job done quickly which is the best part. (The last time I had my locks re-keyed, the locksmith took a lot longer.) As it turns out, this gentleman was the owner of the company as well. I've had keys made at Home Depot. Tried them out, they stick or don't open the lock at all. I've tried other places that makes keys as a sideline. Same problem. Recently I went to AA Lock and Alarm with several different kinds of keys to be duplicated. The woman on duty took them, made copies in a jiffy and I was on my way. Getting home to try out the various keys, they all worked like a charm. I'm going here to get more keys made. read more

Update as I've now had multiple keys cut for three vehicles and one building: A-A really makes great keys. I know, it sounds like I'm raving about something mundane (and I am - story of my life!) but I've had so many janky keys made that didn't work at all, or only worked if you stood on one foot, exhaled twice while hopping to the left, or sang the second verse of 'Seasons in the Sun' in Pig Latin (not to brag, but I'm fluent) while turning the key clockwise... I'm not sure what the big secret is to cutting working keys, but A-A's got it down. They're nice, their AC is frosty, and *their keys work*. Go here. read more

I've had a couple of tricky keys that I brought to OSH, Home Depot, and almost every other hardware store you could possibly imagine and they couldn't make copies of any of them since they were a "special" type of key. What the heck is a special key??! All keys do is open a door of some sort so I don't see how difficult i could be. Anyway, I called the corporate office and asked if they could make the key I was looking for and they said it would be no problem and they would be closing at 5 if I could make it. I scooted over there and the lady was very helpful and I was out the door in 4 minutes or less with a key that worked perfectly for an extremely reasonable price. Yup, these guys got the job done. Fast, professional, and friendly. We lost our house key the day after Christmas, a Sunday. Called a couple other locksmiths, but nobody picked up. We went with A-A because they are right around the corner from us and reviews on Yelp are generally positive. We needed our locks re-keyed, a new deadbolt on one door and an antique lock to be picked on a closet door (it turns out the lock had been broken but we have no idea how.) They performed the service the same day and the technician who arrived to do the work was a real locksmith who knew exactly what he was doing. What impressed us the most was a small box of antique keys he had collected over the years to help with situations such as our closet door. There must have been a hundred keys in there of every vintage! I only give them4/5 because the final bill seemed a little high. That said, we got everything we asked for and the new locks and all of the spare keys work wonderfully. read more

A lateral file cabinet drawer in the office where I work was stuck in a locked position and would not open. The lock had apparently broke. I had to go in to duplicate my keys. The staff was friendly. The best part was they were quick. I was in and out.

I bought a house and had all the locks re-keyed. A-A came out and took care of it quickly. The cost, at the time, I think was reasonable- $75 service call, $15 to re-key each cylinder, and $2/each for key copies. I knocked a star off because they never responded to my online request, but once I called everything went fine. read more

Had to get a couple copies of keys made, so went here as it was just down the street from the office. I walked in and was the only customer. One lady grabbed my keys, asked how many I needed made. I told her 2. The guy told me how much per key and took my $5 bill. By the time he handed me my change and the receipt, the lady handed me 3 keys. It seriously only took the guy about a minute to ring me up. That chick was super fast. I would give it 5 stars but keys is pretty minor for what they probably do. However, I do want to ask for about 28 copies of key and see what time she clocks in at. read more

I like the convenience of this place but I must say I was a little dissapointed in the price. I took in 6 special blanks that I had for a little keyport that I had and they charged me $5/key labor! All 6 keys took about 4-5 minutes to finish cutting and sanding together and I had to pay $30. The lady was very helpful and polite, and I'm not one to argue about price, but I thought $5 per key just for labor was a little over the top. Nevertheless, a great convenient place. read more

Great little place with old time service and took care of making a couple copies of my Buell motorcycle keys with blanks that I brought in....two copies and paid 10$. he copies literally took about 1 minute to make. I also chatted with the locksmith for maybe a half hour about safes and other items and just a good shop. I asked about one particular safe they had in stock and he said he wouldn't recommend that one and showed me another less expensive one he felt was better....I appreciate that kind of honesty. A couple of weeks ago I was locked out of my living quarters at 11:00pm and I was quite pleased with the service to begin with. The guy that came out worked hard and got me in within 1/2 an hour or so. That night I had to call from someone else's phone and I had to use that # for call back that night in case they had trouble finding me or what ever. Now, my friend that I used his phone has started getting calls for me from solicitors and I've never used his number for anything ever until that night a few weeks ago. I can only assume that AA Lock and Alarm sold my (my friends #) phone # to the highest bidder. I called them and they deny it, but some how someone got that number for telemarketing purposes from that call to AA Lock and Alarm, so be careful folks. read more
