I recently wrote a review for A & A Alliance to share my experience and express my disappointment regarding the lack of transparency in their billing and fees. Following my review, I received a call from Andri T., (the owner), who asked what it would take for me to revise my feedback. I responded by requesting that they review my invoice and adjust the charges to reflect the actual time spent moving my belongings. He stated that no changes would be made. When I pointed out that there was nothing more to discuss under those circumstances, he became verbally aggressive, using offensive language and personal insults. In my opinion, his behavior demonstrated a lack of professionalism and courtesy, which raises serious concerns about his qualifications to operate a business. read more

Movers beware!! I used these guys again because I've used them once before. Oh, what a difference a few years make!! I was moving from Weehawken to Jersey City, I told Andre the office guy what I had and was quoted a price, but when the movers actually arrived, I was told it'd be $400 more!!! wth!!! I now realize they try to get your business by quoting you a low price and then hit you with a massive upcharge. I should have just went with another mover but these guys were already in my apt and I just wanted this done. What a big mistake. One buy Andrei, was absolutely horrible. He had a shitty attitude from the beginning and basically threw my things down and shrugged his shoulders when I complained. One of the other guys kept having to apologize for his behavior and attitude. At one point I was unpacking a box and this man proceeded to drop a heavier box right on top of the box I was unpacking when I went to put things away. He saw me unpacking the box and again when I complained, I got more shrugged shoulders and a lot of russian (I'm sure they were insults). I also found one of my tabletops hidden behind my former roommate's which I discovered when I went back to the old apartment to clean up. When I told Andre the office guy, he proceeded to yell at me and insinuate that I was lying, only to text me back and say that guy was having a bad day. I have broken items (in one box, everything was broken) and I'm missing small metal rods to my full-size bed but I'd rather buy new things than to ever have to speak with this company again. You'd be much better off renting a Uhaul and getting some Day Laborers from Sears or wherever. read more

I hesitated on giving this company a review but as the saying goes, "know better, do better", I feel I should say something. Andre and his team handled our belongings very roughly. We have found several things broken. One box had obviously been dropped and busted open then taped back shut. Nothing was said to us about this. Just left for us to find. Our sofa was so messed up that we had to drill new holes just to put it back together. I would definitely say find someone else for your moving needs. read more

They were fine, though... 1. The guys were super nice, but one of them seemed like he was going to eat my head off just because I didn't have cash right away, had to get more. 2. They say $118 or whatever an hour, but then they charge you $118 to transport the goods, and then start adding prices for every little thing like boxes, wrap, and blankets. 3. One of the 3 movers said: "Don't forget about us." When he got his tip, no thank you, no service, just like a "you better give us tip" look. I felt intimated and didn't appreciate that. 4. Andre was super nice and helpful, though. The other two movers were nice throughout the job, just not this one guy. read more

Not a good experience... A&A Alliance Moving, Inc 430 Huyler St South Hackensack, NJ 07606 (201) 645-1311 I was moving in with my girlfriend and we were trying to find a good price on movers. We were both moving from our apartments in Brooklyn, NY to Staten Island, NY. We did not originally intend to use A&A Alliance. We found a website (http://statenislandmovers.us/) and thought we would be using that company. We thought, good, a Staten Island Company who knows the island as Staten Island can be confusing. We also felt more comfortable using a Staten Island Moving Company as the entrance to our new apartment is on a different street from the address for our mailbox; the mailbox is on the main street but the entrance is on the interior street. The move was not what I would call difficult. My girlfriend lived in a small one bedroom apartment and I was moving out of my one bedroom from my parents' apartment. My girlfriend did most, if not all, of the arrangements with A&A Alliance. She was in contact with John. Everything was through email which didn't bother us. The day of the move comes, we were told 9:00am. We give them until 9:15am and my girlfriend calls John. He says he is busy and apologizes for them being late; says shouldn't be much longer. Call again at 9:30am and John doesn't pick up and he never returns the call. The movers show up just before 10:00am without an apology. It is three guys, one who speaks English, and two who only speak Russian. The truck is a white box truck covered in graffiti with NJ plates and has an Asian Trading Company name and address on the doors that says it is located in Lower Manhattan. Not ok. They load my bedroom in 30 minutes and then go to my girlfriend's apartment which they load in 30 minutes. They ask us if they want us to wrap her bed/bed frame we say ok and he says its $35. Turns out he wraps the bed in cardboard and gaffer tape...most expensive cardboard and taper ever! I don't care at this point. He wraps the couch and says no charge to wrap it because he is lazy. We leave Brooklyn and the truck flies ahead of us as my goal was to follow the truck since you never know what could happen. I lose the truck almost instantly as it went through a red light. I go straight to the new apartment in Staten Island and they arrived five minutes after me. They unload the whole apartment in 30 minutes. They were going so fast that they marked up an entire hallway as the furniture rubbed against it. They were also going so fast that one of the guys missed a step on the stairwell and almost went flying forward while holding one of the televisions. Two guys were moving the entertainment center and were going so fast, that one of them missed the last step on the stairwell and lost his grip. The other guy couldn't hold it by himself so the furniture went down almost breaking the other guy's knee; thankfully he caught it somehow. When it came time to finalize the paperwork, there were more problems. We were originally quoted $285 and somehow the bill ballooned to $365. He told me the Verrazano Bridge was $26. I told him that is only for double axle trucks and he wasn't a double axle truck. I asked him for a receipt and he couldn't give me one. I just wanted them out at this point. They charge us the extra $35 for the bed like he said. We were so aggravated with everything that we only gave them each $5 for a tip. Besides the wall being marked from them moving, they ripped my desk chair and lost some of the pegs that hold the shelves in the entertainment center. What an experience!! Bad moving experience ! My roommate and I moved from Hoboken to Jersey city and were quoted 290 for the first two hours and then 65 for every thirty minutes after that. When the moving guys first got to my apartment they wanted to charge an extra 80 dollars to move a 65 inch tv and 60 dollars for each of the medium sized TVs. We decided to move two of the TVs ourself and pay for the bigger one. The main guy told us there would be a charge for every item that was wrapped, but did not give us any details and made us sign a contract that was difficult to follow. Before unloading the truck at the apartment in JC, they wanted all of the money in cash. They charged us for four hours even though it was just over two hours since the time started. There ended up being a 20 - 25 dollar charge for each item that was wrapped up. To make things worse, the guy stressed multiple times that the price did not include tip/ appreciation. The move only lasted 3.5 hours so the final price slightly changed. Besides the questionable customer service, these guys actually did a good job moving the furniture and assembling it back together. Two of the guys were really nice and worked hard. However, the shady pricing and upfront payment left me with a negative taste in my mouth. There are better options available in the hoboken / JC area. read more

The Yelp note for "Accepts Credit Cards" is incorrect; it's cash on delivery. I would have rated five stars, but my move went over estimate enough that I barely had enough cash to pay and tip. I was pretty happy with these guys after a recommendation from work. My move took 3.5 hours. They helped me pack my kitchen and did a really good job keeping things from being damaged. I had a huge wine rack that they individually wrapped each bottle for me. Note that they do wrapping, too, but they will charge you for it - wrap things yourself to save money. If cost is not a concern, you could probably pay them to pack everything for you - they did a great job quickly disassembling and reassembling furniture. I'm surprised at the negative reviews for this company - they were flexible around my needs and charged significantly less than the moving company my new apartment complex recommended. read more

The original review I posted a couple of days ago on this moving company was not good. However, the response I received from the owner was enough to make me reconsider. There were a couple of issues I wasn't pleased with and he contacted me in a timely fashion and went beyond the norm to rectify them. I didn't actually think posting on Yelp would resolve the situation, it was more of a venting process, but it did. I would actually use them again, simply because he took it into his own hands to make sure things got fixed. I appreciate that, I wasn't looking for any sort of compensation and it was offered. I was in a bind and Andre C. was able to get Benny's team to help me out on short notice. They worked in the morning on a hot humid day and were there for me, on time, in the afternoon. I was moving between Hoboken and Jersey City (with a storage unit thrown in), and the entire move only took about 2 hours (would've been less if not for a road closure). The guys were courteous, efficient, and gentle with my belongings. In short, if I need to move again (and my job doesn't pay for it!!), I'd be happy to use these guys again. I moved within Manhattan 2 weeks ago and used A&A Aliiance -- they were great. We all know that moving can be really awful, but they made it as painless as possible. I had them meet me at my storage unit in NJ first, and three guys showed up exactly on time. They were extremely efficient in packing and loading everything, and were very professional. The next step was to head to my apt in NYC. They helped pack the remainder of my items that I couldn't get to, and loaded the truck very quickly. Best of all, NOTHING BROKE DURING THE MOVE. The owner, Andre, was very responsive, communicative and flexible. I appreciated it a lot. Finally, the pricing was very fair. There were a handful of other companies that would have been less expensive, but they only provided 2 movers compared to the 3 with A&A. Having three people made things so much more efficient and less stressful, so I'm glad that was the case with my move. I hopefully won't have to move again any time soon but, if I do, I'd definitely use these guys again. read more

I was a little skeptical when hearing their hourly rate. For three people, they are asking for 2 hrs minimum - $235 and C$65 per 0.5 hr thereafter.(including truck, dollies and blankets). Renting a ​"​Uhaul​"​​ or "Ryder"​ and hiring three helpers will probably cost the same. However, hiring a random guys outside the street for helping moving is definitely dangerous. The staff​ (Andre or Julie)​ is always polite and courteous. They will even call ​and text ​you ​2​4 hours to ensure that you still need a service​.​ They are licensed ​and insured ​company and everything is in writing. They provide a time window to us (​8:30 -9:30​am), and they arrive​d​ on​ ​time at 8​:​4​0​am. I thought, because of the way they charge, that they would be a little slow. But I'm totally wrong. They are professional and do things very very fast. But don't get me wrong, they are careful in your furniture and wrap everything with blanket​s​ (you just need to tell them what you want to be wrapped, or just say​:​ ​E​very funiture​!​ LoL). ​You can also buy any kind of other packing supplies from the truck​, but it​'​s extra cost. We have about ​45​ large box​es...​ ​mov​i​ng ​2 and half​​​ bedroom ​apartment ​to another place (local, ​20 blocks​ away). And they complete all the job in ​5​ hours. And they put everything in order per our request. They are all polite, and the team lead is very fluent in English. No problem at all in communication. Great moving service. They arrived on time, took care of my stuff, and moved fast. The price was reasonable.

Got the job done, the company was okay. I was quoted 295 for 2 hours of work, which now that I think about it is pretty expensive. The guys got to my place an hour and a half late which I wasn't pleased about but Andre gave me an extra half hour free. Door to door, the move took only an hour a half. Keep in mind I had no furniture and only boxes of stuff. The guys were pretty friendly and very quick. They boxed up my little extra knick knacks within 15 minutes. Even though I didn't have a ton of stuff, I wanted to hire movers to make things less stressful but I definitely felt stressed for the most of the move. Wondering if they would ever show up, wondering how long it would take, wondering if we could go over the allotted time slot. Would I use them again? Probably not, there are much cheaper places. I think 300 bucks for an hour and a half move is kind of pushing it. read more

These guys were awesome. I got quotes from the big national movers, and it was going to cost around $3000 -$5000 for our move from Brooklyn to Philadelphia! Yikes! These guys did it for about a quarter of the cost. They were super professional, wrapped our fragile things really well, and were crazy fast. They requested a pretty hefty tip at the end (like $100 per guy) which we happily gave them, since they did such a great job and it still cost a fraction of what I was quoted by the big corporate companies. I was a little nervous to use a small unknown company, but they were super. Their name is pretty generic, but they are also known as "Two Guys and a Truck". Yes, also really generic. The guy who runs it is named Andre. They should really change their name to something more memorable. read more

WITHOUT DOUBT THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!! Email confirmation for 3 people. They turn up hours late on the day. Then insist on 4 people which costs more money (despite me having 3 people to help and not needing a 4th person). They threaten to walk out on the job. One guy just sits in the van the whole time. Regardless of what they quote you, they'll string it out to get the hours they want. Charge $40 for putting cardboard and tape around something. They also tried to charge an hour travel which they agreed not to on email. A complete scam - and of course when you have a 5 hour window, you don't have a lot of options on the day to do anything but go with it. ps Having the guy stomping around your house swearing the whole afternoon doesn't help either. Business to avoid. We thought the move went pretty well, but when it comes to finalizing money they start by 'suggesting' a tip. We pay, in cash including tips and then sign off and send them on their way. We found an expensive vacuum cleaner missing as we are cleaning out our condo. Called back just to enquire (very politely) to find out if anything got left out in the truck accidentally and they start yelling abuses over the phone. The foreman I got was rough and dishonest. The other two guys were nice. Good for him I forgot his name. He even had the audacity to crib about the fact that we didn't have bottled water for them. In fact, I saw him talking on the phone half the time. Andrei, the boss, offered me a small compensation after hearing the full story, but I was not interested. The lead guy came in morning to examine the stuff and quoted me twice the original price on phone. My wife was pregnant and I was the only one to move the whole thing. Panicking as I had already paid my coop board for move out and had everything setup including insurance certificates, I said yes and even agreed to pay 30℅ tip. The guy asked me to pay everything, including tips before they unload at my new building, a soft threat that he would not do a good job at unloading. The dude insisted saying that was the norm. In short, I paid a total of $1050 for moving a studio which included just 2 closets and 1 couch and a bunch of boxes. In fact, for every extra item, his quote was double of what his boss had quoted me. In total, I paid $530 for 4 hours 3 men + they charged me 280 for packing material (mostly tape and sofa wrap), where as most of the boxes were already packed by me. I also paid $9 for truck parking. At the end the foreman advised to get an estimate instead of a quote next time. I have the used the same company in past, and was happy with my experience before. Thus, the extra star; else they would get 1. Update: As I plan for my next move, I was researching about other movers. While, I obviously I am not going to use them again, I found that many others had similar experience to mine, so please don't use this company ever. This experience still bothers me even after 2 years. All, I am seeing on other reviews, the owner responds to bad reviews, either disowning that it was a job by his men or that it was some misunderstanding. It seem according to him, whenever the customer has a bad experience, it is they who are wrong, where as him and his men are never at fault for carrying out bad business practices. Avoid by any means. Terrible experience - movers were loud, cursing, spoking illegal drugs during moving the track, from 3 people only 2 were actually working but requested tips for all 3. Took their sweet time, lost a piece of furniture - made fun of me when I called them on it. The trace of papers from them is non-existent - you can hardly read what's on it. The whole thing stinks and there are many more options available for the same price or better! read more

Andre's team helped me and my roommate pack up our Hoboken apartment and move uptown... what a pleasure it was! They arrived early, which we appreciated because we were able to work out pricing before our two hour time clock began. We had approx. 30 boxes and they were out within minutes. If we had any disagreement around cost, they worked with us to make sure all parties were satisfied. We will definitely be using them in future moves and will be recommending them to our friends in the tristate area. read more

I am surprised by some of the negative reviews below since my experience with this moving company was very positive. First of all, they arrived for my move last Saturday exactly on time, and managed the loading of my 2bdrm apartment on a very difficult street (77th). The main guy took inventory and they started working right away. All of the movers were very efficient but also very careful with my stuff, making sure to wrap delicate furniture in rolls of plastic and/or blankets. None of them rushed through anything, but really made sure the furniture was protected and moved without damaging either the furniture itself or any of the building walls. The main foreman was a very friendly guy and the other three movers were kind of serious Russian dudes, but very polite. I have moved a bunch of times over the years, from Philly to NY and then three times within NY, and these guys were definitely the best movers that I've used in terms of both efficiency of move and not even nicking or scratching any of my furniture. The one thing that I didn't expect was they wanted to charge for one hour of travel time, which was never mentioned but I was able to negotiate this down to 30 min with Andre. They also didn't charge much for supplies, which they used a lot of. At $118 an hour this was a great deal compared to another company in the neighborhood that was quoting $189/hour. read more

A few bumps in the road that neither myself nor the moving company could have anticipated but Andre is an honest guy and made sure everything was smoothed out and finished properly to our complete satisfaction. I used Two Guys this week for a small move of furniture within Manhattan. I solicited their bid at 6pm on a Thursday and they were there at 9:30 am the next morning. I chose them because their policy on no extra transportation time and their overall lower hourly rate with only a 2 hour minimum made their bid appreciably less expensive. I hadn't used them before so I was a bit anxious. To my surprise and relief, they proved to be very efficient and professional as well as quite likable. Everything went perfectly.
