Called A & B appliance and they came out same day! Was very happy for the quick and fast service! My husband and tried to fix it himself order parts off Amazon and that was a huge mistake. Parts maybe be cheap but if you don't know what you're doing it doesn't even matter how cheap the parts are. I'll never ever have him try to fix anything again, I'll happily call A& B. So this was a service that was done about 6 months ago! My home Dryer wasn't working properly & basically wasn't drying my clothes. I called them thinking it would be a convenience for them as well as for myself because they were literally down the street. Long story short, they did repair the dryer at the time, he did state it only had a 30 day warranty. But he also added this was a great dryer and after the repair it would last at least 5-6 years! It only lasted 7 months. With a little research plus the technician left the old parts behind, I figured out the issue. I ordered the 2 coils needed for the dryer to heat, it cost me $10.00 for the new coils with free shipping. He was there no more than 15 minutes and I was charged $275.00. It's so unfortunate that this technician thinks thats a good business practice! Especially when he was an older person! Clearly taking advantage of people without hesitation. It also took me 15 minutes to replace the coils he installed. Karma is going to come around!! read more

My dryer was making a loud noise so i called around and this guy from A&B appliance repair came out and quoted me $250.00 to fix it he assured my that i was not going to find a lower price, but something made me call someone else and i called B&D, Jeff the son came and fixed the problem in 10 mins. and the total was less then $90.00. A&B is a complete ripoff. They charge a flat rate fee of $250 to repair anything on an appliance as you can see in the other reviews. The tech replaced one (1) sensor on our dryer that retails for $7.38 (free s/h from Amazon) and was here for less than 15 minutes. Advertised a military discount in the Yellow Pages which is why we called them. They arrive and turns out only active military. Nevermind the 23 years of service my father served. If I could give this company 0 stars I would, but the lowest possible is 1, so I'll have to go with that. "HIGHWAY ROBBERY" is the term to describe A & B Appliance Repair (serving the Antelope Valley). I called them today because my refrigerator light was on, but no noise/not cooling, and all my food was going bad. So, the deal was...they come out for a $35 service fee, if repairs are made, no service charge. They gave an estimate of $325.00 to replace a Temperature Control Thermostat. Their invoice only showed the total cost amount, instead of showing the price breakdown for parts and labor (I WONDER WHY?). So, your probably asking? If you thought the estimate was too high, why did you allow them to do the work. Answer: UNFORTUNATELY, I was not home during the 2 hour service window and allowed someone "who apparently was " NOT SO BRIGHT" authorize the work (they called me when the job was almost complete, as I was doing my research. My research showed that the cost of the thermostat was less than $50.00. So, the repair job was less than 20 minutes, and they got away with 'HIGHWAY ROBBERY" FOR $275.00 worth of 20 minute labor. Lesson learned: Oversee the service call yourself. Once you find out what the problem is, pay the service fee, research the cost of the parts, do the work yourself (if possible) or call a "REPUTABLE COMPANY THAT HAS A HISTORY OF CONDUCTING BUSINESS FAIRLY" to complete the job. And the not so funny thing about it is.....There was a video online right next to the part that showed you how to install it...WHICH ADDS INSULT TO INJURY. I could have done it myself in less than 30 minutes. I live in Bear Valley Springs and I have tried calling everyone in Bakersfield and Lancaster. I finally came up A.&B Appliance Repair for my old Washer and Paul came, and had it fixed in 1/2 hour. This morning I called another appliance repair company (to come fix my screeching dryer- It was working but made a high pitched sound) and they were closed so I left them a voicemail. I didn't hear back for a while so I called A & B because I needed someone to fix my dryer as soon as possible. While waiting for the repairman to get here, the other company called me back and told me to check with them after I got the estimate from A & B, because they were notorious for giving outrageous estimates. The A & B repairman quoted me $250. While he was here, I called the other company and they laughed out loud. I paid the $30 service charge to A & B and a few hours later I had someone else come fix my dryer for $101. The description of the problem from the A & B repair man was complete nonsense and vague, and the guy from the other company showed me the simple, single part that needed to be replaced. Sigh. I had yellowish flames coming from all the burners on the stove. Repairman showed up and said he can do nothing to adjust the stove and I should contact the Gas company and have them inspect. I paid the 35.00 dollar service fee and scheduled an appointment for an inspection with the SoCalGas. SoCalGas did the inspection and said there is nothing wrong and the yellowish flames in the morning is OK. Lesson I learned is to give make and model of appliance before letting A&B come to home. read more

I had an A&B Appliance repair person come to my house to look at my ice maker since it was freezing up and there was ice all over. I wanted it fixed fearing that it might do damage to the refrigerator, however, while the repairman was very pleasant, the price was absurd. They advertise discounts for military and senior citizens, but make sure you are over 65 and active duty because they do not mention that in their ad. $250 to replace an ice maker that I could have bought online for $80 and about ten minutes to remove the old one and install new one. I complained about the price, but was told that is just the way it is. I begrudgingly paid it knowing that I had to pay him $30 for the service call, and then would have had to go through the same thing with someone else. If companies here wonder why people hire individuals who do not have licenses, etc., the reason is obvious. American companies, sadly, are ripping us off with these exorbitant, outlandish prices. The price should be based on how long it takes to do the job, and there is no way a ten minute job should cost $250, even with providing the ice maker, which I am sure it cost them a lot less than it would have cost me!! read more

I had a problem replacing the light blubs in my Kenmore refrigerator (thought the sockets might be corroded). Made an appt. with this company to come & check it out. Their service fee was reasonable ($30) but the tech merely showed me how to install the blub (which I supplied) & then he wrote out the bill - $80!. Apparently $50 to screw in the blub & tell me how to position it as to not cross thread it. The guy wasn't here more than 10 min. Needless to say, I threw out the business card he left - I definitely won't call them again. But I will share this experience with family, friends & co-workers! read more

I was very displeased with this company. They came to fix my oven and gave me an un itemized invoice for $500.00. The service tech was there for exactly one hour. He replaced two igniters. I contacted the oven maker and found that a factory pack of two igniters cost $39.95. They charged me $460.00 for one hour of labor. I called the owner Bill, to ask if a mistake was made. He said that is what we charge and no adjustment will be made. I've never heard of any serviceman in any industry charging such a price for one hour of work. That is in the attorney range!! On January 17th I called A & B Repair because my Whirlpool Dryer had no heat. It was turning but throwing cold air. The lady on the phone at A & B asked me to have the dryer running for 60 minutes before the technician was to arrive. The "technician" came at the time specified. He went and looked at my dryer and without opening it, or checking anything, he said that it was the "thermal sensor" and that it would cost $225.00 to fix. I told him that was too much since it was a ten year old dryer. I also made the comment that he had only been in my house 2 minutes. I wrote him a check for $30.00 for the call and he left. Well I had a feeling about the whole thing.. $30.00 for two minutes and how he acted. So I researched on line how much the part was and on UTUBE and how long it would take to repair. Well it turns out that the part was $22.00 and the estimated repair time 15 minutes. So I ordered the part. We replaced it and it was not it!! So I purchased a voltmeter and checked the other possibilities..well it was a $20.00 thermal fuse! It arrived within two days, we replaced it and the dryer is working fine!! It took an inexperienced senior citizen 15 minutes to replace it!!! And this so called technician wa going to charge us $225.00 and with the wrong diagnosis. So what was he planning to do? Come up with the story that it needed more parts and escalate the price?? DO NOT CALL THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE A RIP OFF!!!!!! They should refund me the money I spent on their call!!
