took my GTO in for an oil leak and transmission rebuild. A couple months after I got it back the transmission developed a grinding going into 4th gear. Dave pulled the trans out again, fixed it, and reinstalled the trans. It shifts great now! Dave stands behind his work! He said it is under warranty and didn't charge anything for the R&R. Wish I had come to A & D a long time ago. I've been taking my car to the dealership for maintenance (I know...I KNOW). A general service often ended with more charges on top of the basics. My head gasket blew and they repaired it for 5 thousand damn dollars, two fing days later and not even 20 miles driven afterwards my transmission blew and they quoted me another 5 thousand, I obviously cant afford that and thought it was a scam anyways, I had to move to WA a few months later, I got a quote for 2.3k to fix the transmission out here and after speaking to the mechanic here they would have done the gasket for 3k, so basically this place completely ripped me off and I honestly think had to do something with the transmission, they must have thought I had $$$, I cant prove they messed with my transmission but honestly considering how much they wanted i felt totally scammed. read more

After moving back to Simi Valley a few years ago, my car broke down and I needed a tow. AAA came out and asked where I wanted to take the car. I had no mechanic and he suggested A & D Automotive -- Now here's where I note my experiences with mechanics in the past haven't always been positive, so when I find a good honest mechanic, I tend to stay loyal -- So, I was skeptical at first because I'd rather have a personal referral than a professional referral, but I didn't have any other options. So to A & D we went. Met Dave there and he was nice. Took the car and a day or so later the car was fixed and it wasn't outrageous. Part of my skepticism with mechanics come because almost inevitably when I go somewhere I am not familiar it almost never fails that a couple days later some other issue happens and I need to take it back. So, I waited. And waited. And waited some more. No other issues. So, then my wife's car needs to go in... same thing, no other issues. So, we take for a few oil changes. Again no issues. My car for some oil changes. No issues. Frankly, it goes the exact way it went for me with my trusted mechanics in the past. And then one day, I did have an issue... the cover on my undercarriage came off on the freeway. Drove the car, scraping the pavement the whole way, to Dave and he took it off for no charge. And then my wife just had another small issue and he fixed it no charge. This is experience, for somebody who is highly skeptical of mechanics, has been so positive that not only has A & D earned my trust... they've also earned my loyalty as well as my public praised. A few years ago I had a horrible noise from my front brakes. Everywhere I called would only give me the prices to replace them without without even checking them. My car only had at that time 12,500 miles on it and I told them all when I called here. This place told me to bring the car in that at that mileage it probably not the brakes and he wanted to look at them. After looking at them I was told I did not need brakes most likely it was just dirt. And I was not charged anything. All the other places just wanted to replace them and charge me. read more

I brought my car in for an oil change, and I was told that my front top torque mount was broken and front struts leaking, approximately $1,100.00 parts and labor. I was going to set up an appointment to have this done but my husband suggested I take it to the Honda dealership since I had purchased an extended warranty coverage. I was pretty excited to hear that the aforementioned repairs would be fully covered. The Honda Dealership service department ordered the parts and I brought my car in yesterday to be worked on today. Well, I was told the front top torque mount WAS NOT broken and the front struts WERE NOT leaking. The only thing needing replacing were both front strut dust covers. Unbelievable, A & D were going to charge me for a service that was unnecessary. I can't believe I referred both of my daughters to this place. CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!!! read more

Save yourself the headache and heartache and do not use this garage. The place is set up and staffed by a bunch of Mr. Goodwrench want a bees, GM's throwbacks that couldn't make the cut. The kind of place you take your car to that needs a starter and you wind up being told that you have to buy a new battery even though there's nothing wrong with your battery and they want to charge you $450 to replace a starter. Being the skeptic that I am I walked across the alley to their competitor named Santiago's the exact same repair with a new starter installed parts and labor complete came to $180.and what took A&D automotive over five hours to give me the an estimate, charged me $110 to give me that estimate and left my car a mess inside with greasy footprints to boot. It only took Santiago's an hour and a half to complete the entire job and all for less then half of what A&D automotive quoted !! Negative five stars read more

A & D is great when they have the time to help you. Friendly and knowledgable, but very busy. A few months ago, I dropped my car off when it wouldn't start and it took them a week to look at it and change the battery. I brought the car back today for a different problem, and they were full so I had to take it somewhere else. Other times when I've taken my car to A & D, they were able to help me and I felt they were honest and reliable. So like I said, great when they have the time for you. read more

I was a customer of A and D for many years. Having a mechanic you can trust is equally as important as having a good mechanic. I had my car serviced at GMC for the time I was still under warranty and yet they still would find ways to milk money out of me. I decided to go back to my trustworthy A and D because I trusted them to be honest with me and not try to charge me for services I didn't need or they didn't do. I throughly enjoyed Dave and his pups. He is one of the nicest, most genuine and knowledgeable people I have ever met. I say "was", because I have since moved away from the area. Trying to find a good mechanic in my new town has proven a tiresome process. I have yet to find anyone who even compares to the service I received at A and D. I still come to town to visit family and I still take my car to be serviced there while I am in town. I just hope nothing major goes on with my car because a tow ride to his shop 300 miles away would be an expensive one, but probably worth it. read more

Dave has been taking care of my '94 Mitsu Eclipse and '02 Chevy Suburban. Whenever any of the cars needs repairs that I can't handle, A&D gets it fixed the first time. Today, I tackled replacing my power steering pump on the Suburban but had trouble uninstalling the sensor.
