My truck needed a lot of work, one of the issues being I needed a new suspension. I had an old lift kit, Mike and Shannon called around relentlessly to find the suspension replacement, using the same lift kit parts saving me lots of money. Truly the nicest people! I had a water pump that was cracked, and originally couldn't get an appt until next week due to the holiday. Shannon genuinely cared and was worried about my car overheating while driving my baby, and she went above and beyond to squeeze me in before the shop was closed for new years! I had an older Cadillac CTS That could not pass smog, Mike was able to clear all the emissions as well as resolving an electrical problem and get the vehicle smogged for me. I have been going to Shortees for over 2 decades. I have dealt with dozens of mechanics over the past 55 years, and Mike, Shannon and their team are the most honest and fair mechanics I have ever worked with. Mike is an automotive genius, and they are typically able to diagnose and repair just about anything. Mike originally specialized in GM products, but they have worked on my Toyotas, Lexus, and Fords repeatedly without any glitch. Here is the best part. Mike knows the ins & outs with the manufacturers, including past service bulletins. When I took him my first Corvette due to gas smell, it was out of warranty. However, he knew that they had a service bulletin on this issue, and said I should take it back to Chevy, with no charge for his diagnosis. They had to replace the fuel tank, and so Shortees saved me about $1,500 for this one issue alone. Then a few years later we had an issue with my daughter's Scion XB, which I had towed in to their shop. Upon his quick inspection and analysis he told me the same thing, that there had been a service bulletin with Toyota for this valve train problem. The dealer next towed it to their shop and re-built the motor, again at no charge to me. They go above and beyond any other mechanic I know when it comes to diagnosis and recommendations, and I am extremely grateful for all of their help over the years. Their prices are typically about 1/2 of what a dealer charges for pretty much anything, I have checked! Honest mechanic. Took my car to Yosemite's in East Simi for a anti-freeze leak. Was told that it would cost $800 to replace a $200 radiator. Took my car to Shortee's for a second quote. He ran some tests and called to let me know that my radiator was fine. However, he kept it overnight to test again in the morning. Turns out it was a leak in the hose. $200 repair. I'm friends with Mikes brother and that why I started coming here.. I've brought a couple different vehicles here over the years and they have ALWAYS been very very good and fix the problem and gave me great advice on other issues. BUT....They are very bad at calling people back, I had to always call back multiple times to get an update or to even find out my vehicle was done. This last time I was there was for a exhaust leak near the headers and the truck not running great. They ended up having to work on the catalytic coverters and I had to buy new headers... (360$) because they were cracked... the labor was around 490$... after calling a couple times and getting updates after a week or two it was done and I came to get it. I drive down the street to get on the freeway and the loss of power is about 85% fixed and their is STILL an exhaust leak! So I call and let them know and I'm told that I'll need to leave the truck again and they will look at it.. so another week goes by and I had to call again and they say the truck is done.. I get in and start it and leave and It STILL has a bad exhaust leak! So after calling them and letting them know I'm told they tighten the headers and that all they can do.. unless I want to leave it again! So I leave it again and after a day or two I have to call again and they say the brand new headers have a crack in them! I'm speechless and ask how can this be? They are JBA headers a reliable company.. I was told this is what happens unless you keep the original headers.. so I asked how much it would be to put on some original headers if I supply them. They quoted me 1300$!!! For just labor And a month before they can get to it.. Ive since then done a reverse vacuum and spray soapy water on every inch of the exhaust and can't find any exhaust leak or crack .. I just feel like I wasn't a big enough job for them to take seriously at the time ? read more

My 2013 3/4 ton GMC Denali has been an electronic nightmare for years. Three different GMC dealers and GMC Corporate claimed they couldn't find a problem let alone fix it. The truck would shut itself down and wouldn't start sometimes for hours, sometimes days. It was recommended that I take it to Shortees as the owner is an electronics guru. Worst business ever. My 82 year old mother went for an oil change. While she was there she asked to replace is bulb. She was not quoted how much installation. Her bill was $142. For a bulb and a oil change. They said they would credit us back. They did. Then charged it again. Credited back and then charged her again. Horrible customer service. The lady who is the receptionist was awful. Never do business with them. read more

I took my car to Shortee's because it had an oil leak and to check the brakes. I was extremely satisfied with the services they provided. They are honest fair and we will bring our cars there from here on out. They could've really told me my oil leak was anything but it was just a leaky filter so they replaced the filter did an oil change and charged a very fair price for the brake job they did. I am pretty picky about where I take my cars to for service and repairs. I take good care of my cars and it kills me when I have to leave them somewhere in the hands of someone who probably does not care as much as I do. I am happy to say that is not the case at Shortee's. Mike is great, he is always honest and more often than not actually recommends not wasting money on a repair that won't help whatever the problem is at the time. His prices are more than reasonable, you get a quality job that you know is done right and you won't have to bring the car back in a week later with the same issue. Fair. Honest. Reliable. Respects your time. I really believe that Mike is a honest mechanic. He's been spot on with each mechanical issue we've brought to him over the last 5 years between three of our vehicles. He has provided consistency, knowledge and results in a timely manner at fair prices. For example, we recently needed to repair our Mazda RX8. It needed a new catalytic converter and we all know that those are $$$$! We asked Mike if we should trade it in instead of fixing it. Honestly we expected a biased opinion. If he advised to trade it in, he would obviously loose the job. However, what he explained was that because of previous repairs he made to the car over the last two years (different problems) that now is the time to make a change and he would really recommend to trade it in versus fixing it. He said that we've put enough money into the car and that there could be additional problems with it down the road based on the mechanical history of the car. He put the car back together and gave us back the keys without even charging us a cent for the diagnostic work-up he did! We asked what we owed and another guy working there said to just bring them lunch one day (without onions hahaha). Expect Lunch soon guys!
