Hello Yelpers. I took my vehicle to A & H Auto Repair in Hayward at the above address. I spoke with the owner two days before I dropped it off and all went well with the drop off. I needed Oil change, Oil filter and all fluids topped off and all 4 tires rotated. I was told to pick up the vehicle at 2pm and I got there at 1:15pm and the car was ready as stated by the owner I didn't have to wait until 2pm paid the invoice and I paid a fair price for what I had done to the vehicle $110 great service. In 2010, Ahmad from A&H Auto Repair came out to my dead vehicle on Industrial Way in Hayward, quickly diagnosed my failed alternator, started my truck, so I could drive it to his shop, and proceeded to fix my alternator. That was the beginning of a relationship that continues to this day. Ahmad Amini, owner of A&H Auto Repair, is an absolute saint, and easily the finest person I have met in my 31 years of living in California. From 2008-2023, I owned a food production and distribution company, and the random luck of meeting Ahmad kept my company alive countless times over those 15 years. This man is the most honest person I have ever known, and he is courteous, generous, fair, dedicated and a great mechanic. My company deivered throughout NoCal, putting on roughly 110,000 miles annually, and after meeting him, I always had every last mechanical issue dealt with, by him. We are talking about 5 different engine replacements, 6 transmission replacements, countless brake jobs, broken steering columns, emission issues, electrical nightmares, destroyed ignitions, mysterious shorts with alarm systems, unlimited reefer issues, moving cooling units between vehicles, passing smogs, fixing RVs, you imagine it and he did it for me, quickly, fairly, exceptionally. I am not at all exaggerating when I say he saved my modest little company literally hundreds of times over those 15 years. I trust his opinion over anyone else's, and this world is a much better place, thanks to Ahmad Amini. If you ever have a mechanical issue, do not hesitate to believe in him, you will never do better. He was so good and honest, that even after I sold the company, I constantly have and will, move heaven and earth to get my troubled vehicle from Vallejo down to Hayward to have him fix it, and sometimes, that isn't easy, but he is worth it. My friend recommended this auto shop to me a couple of years ago and every time I have any auto issues, I come here. Literally any issues at all. Ahmad, I think, is the owner and he's the one who helps me each time. His prices are always very fair and I never feel like I'm overpaying for service. He's also very honest and isn't trying to upsell anything. If he feels that it's not an immediate issue, he'll let me know. Recently, he flagged an issue with my tires. He asked if I had been hearing a noise on my right side wheel, which I had been. He told me why it was happening and the cause but to not worry about getting that fixed quickly. This problem I had brought to another auto repair shop years ago and they said there was no issue so it was nice to hear that it was actually a problem and someone was able to figure it out. I've also noticed the check oil light comes on often so I took it over thinking there was a leak. The issue is that my car can burn oil quickly so it can be a known issue. He not only filled my oil for very cheap, but he also taught me how to check the oil myself and told me what to use so I could do it at home in case it happened again. read more

I'm a car DIYer. I do all the automotive maintenance and repairs myself as long as I have the tools (that i already do) and the time to do it. But sometimes major car problems and emergencies happen on a Monday afternoon and can't wait until the long weekend. Nor is there anywhere near enough daylight hours or energy to fix stuff up once i'm off work at 2:30pm. I brought my 03 Chevy Impala to the shop after a serious transmission problem likely due to a plugged up trans fluid filter causing torque converter fluid starvation. They ordered the parts (filter plus gasket), did the work, and I was on my way home. Yes, I had to come back for rework two days later, but only because their parts supplier tried to save a couple bucks by delivering an odd-shaped tranny pan gasket made of just rubber vs a metal-reinforced one. Even then, like all the other good shops, A&H truly went above and beyond to make things right. "This is what happened? And we worked on it two days ago?" My vehicle dumped a bunch of tranny fluid while parked at work due to the unreinforced gasket popping out of place, Ahmed actually had a helper come out along with a bucket of absorbent to clean up the mess, and my vehicle went back on the lift shop for a do-over. I had to wait a bit extra while they re-worked the gasket issue and made double sure, but the shops don't like unpaid rework any more than us customers like having to come back for the same. I own a S550 and there was this ABS and EPS module problem. I went to this guy, i had to wait for an hour before he could do the diagnosis with his scanner. He claimed it could be either the module in front or another one which is in the trunk. Advised he will check and let me know. I called him after a day, his answer i will let you know tomorrow. Its been a week and this guy hasn't called. Worse customer service, no knowledge of what he was doing. He lost my business and people that i know. Stay away, save time, save your money. What I appreciate most about him is that he is ethical and full of integrity - what he charges you is the minimum it would cost him to get the parts and provide livelihood for his workers. I come down all the way from berkeley every time because it's so hard to find a good mechanic you can trust these days! Highest recommendation I can give. I had a car getting towed by AAA, they called me back to say they were going to be another hour late, Ahmad waited that whole time on a FRIDAY FREAKIN EVENING! AAA called me back to say they were running another 45 minutes late at the end of that hour, and Ahmad made it easy for me to have the car towed to his shop. He had it fixed up the next day and was ready to go and I'm going to guess that it was probably half the price I would have spent at another shop. If you don't know much about cars you need an auto shop you can trust to look out for your car and your wallet (hard to find these days). Well, look no further, A&H Auto is the only place I trust with my car in the East Bay. I took my car to A&H a couple months ago when the check engine light came on and the engine was running very rough - lurching and giving an intermittent delayed response to the gas pedal. I had researched Hayward auto shops on-line and noticed that A&H had a large number of happy customers. Ahmad, the shop owner, ran the diagnostics while explaining exactly what he was doing. Turns out my O2 sensor was not working and too much fuel was being pumped into the engine. Ahmad drove me home while waiting for the new sensor to arrive. He replaced the sensor and performed some general maintenance for a very, very reasonable price. He showed me the old O2 sensor, explained how it works, and where it sits under the hood. The next day I brought my wife's car in to A&H for AC repair. Ahmad showed me the equipment he uses to measure pressure in the AC system and the Freon detector to find leaks. After determining that there was absolutely no pressure in the AC system, he systematically looked for leaks and found the culprit. After repairing the leak, he replaced the Freon and again looked for leaks. None were found and the AC has been working great ever since. The price was shockingly low. The thing that sets A&H apart from every other auto shop I have used is that they understand the value of honesty and integrity. They take the time to explain exactly what's going on and how to accurately diagnose and remedy the problem. Despite what some people may believe, I am not an idiot; however, in the past it has been hard to understand what mechanics are talking about half the time, usually because they are fast-talking some kind of hustle. Ahmad and A&H made perfect sense when explaining the repairs my cars needed - it was explained so well that even a scientist could understand it. Fancy that! I found out about this place when selling my 1981 BMW 528e and buyer wanted to do a pre inspection for the car; of course gladly I agreed. Ahmad agreed to do the inspection and his mechanic tech did the inspection, as well as drive the car to check it out on the road; inspection turned out great (as expected) and I sold the car :( My Honda had a check engine light and I decided to bring it here since that experience was pleasant & quick. My engine light was found to be an EGR flow issue which they fixed the following day, everything was very smooth with Ahmad and his techs, which was pleasant for a change when dealing with mechanic shops. I will most definitely come back for future car needs since I have a habit of not buying new cars, and instead stick to older cars. This place is great. Reasonable prices, but what makes it stand out to me enough to write a review for it are the people that work here. From the others I've encountered and especially the owner, (Ahmad I think is his name). They all displayed professional and kind attitudes, something that's pretty rare in customer service nowadays. The biggest thing for me was that even though I had no idea or knowledge about cars, and I was pretty much clueless throughout, they didn't talk down at me. I never felt like they assumed I didn't have a clue "just because I was a girl," which I sometimes get that vibe in some car places.
