They gave so much beef and tendon which were very tender. The bowl was perfect for the cold night. +Spicy Wonton with Red Hot Sauce: One of the best spicy wonton dish I've had. If you ever crave for Din Tai Fung, go here instead! It's honestly delicious and I love the sauce it came with. The aroma filled my car and I knew I had to stop in the parking lot and try it fresh. I ordered the pan fried bun with egg and pork. It's like a thin dumpling skin with rice noodle, minced egg and pork mixed together. It tasted just like our aunt's homemade version- that's how you know it's authentic. The pricing is reasonable and there are always more options that I can actually eat. I tried their sesame noodles, and it was so good! I ordered the wonton with the soup, which was good too! The wonton especially! I prefer the wonton with the spicy sauce, so I'll be ordering that next time. Overall, amazing, authentic food that is made so fast to order. Haven't been here in awhile, and oh boy! their food did not disappoint. My family and I really enjoyed it, and loved the prompt service they've provided when serving the food. Only cons is that, the weekend is very busy and the place isn't very big so it is limited seating; you may have to wait 20 mins or more depending on the traffic inside, so consider the peak times when eating. My BF and I came around 03:30 PM on a Friday, surprisingly crowded but we were able to get a seat. We ordered spicy beef noodle soup, wood ear mushrooms, picked cabbage, spicy shrimp wontons, and minced pork over rice. Spicy Beef Noodle Soup (9/10)-they give you a choice of thin or thick noodles. Beef is tender and broth is quite spicy~ noodles texture is chewy and bouncy. Very hearty and filling. Minced pork over rice (9.5/10)-pork is sweet and salty, comes over a hot bowl of rice, corn, and cilantro. Wish there was an egg on top but overall a flavor bomb! Spicy Shrimp Wonton (8/10)-very classic and well cooked, shrimp is juicy and wontons are thin, wish the shrimp inside was bigger but overall well rounded appetizer. Wood ear mushrooms (7/10)-a little salty for me but wood ear mushrooms were tender, great light appetizer. Dare I say, Din Tai Fung's cucumber salad doesn't come close to the one at A & J. I also recommend coming early for lunch and non-peak hours for dinner. I can't believe it's taken me so long to try A&J. My sister and I got a beef noodle to share, pan fried wontons and a beef bun. The texture of the noodles were immaculate and had such a homey feeling to the bowl. I also appreciate that their noodles came out piping hot. They have lots of side dishes which are really good the wonton in hot sauce is so much better than that of ding tai fung. The sauce for any of the food is so flavorful. Not greasy or oily like other places. The place gets busy so be prepared for a wait. Staff is quick and attentive so the wait isn't so bad. But weekend waits can be frustrating. The place is large but a little cramped, and our party of 4 was squished into a small table that's likely better suited for 2. -Spicy Beef and Tendon Noodle Soup ($14.50): this is what I was recommended to come here for, but it actually wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be. We got it with the wide noodles, which weren't as chewy as I was hoping for, and the soup really wasn't that spicy, umami or flavorful as expected, kind of just lightly salted. The meat was cooked well and tender, though it would be a bit more balanced with more meat and veggies since it was a LOT of noodles. -Spicy wonton ($7.95): this was excellent, the wrappers were perfectly thin and silky, filled with a generous amount of filling, super savory with a great not too spicy but still spicy sauce. Minced pork on rice ($12.95): this was good but not great; the pork was super minced, but with the tea egg the satly goodness ontop of rice is just super nostalgic. The inclusion of corn was a little out of place for me but still good overall! Cucumber salad ($3.75): great crispy and seasoned cucumber! Pickled cabbage ($3.25): this wasn't what we were hoping for; the cabbage is barely picked and really didn't taste like much, lacked the crisp crunch of pickled cabbage and I wouldn't recommend. Every bite was enjoyable and it was nowhere near being spicy. - #139 Chinese Beef Wrap: Perfect and excellent. Beef, cilantro, and some other ingredients in a grease free wrap. Cut into 6 sections, I ate them all. So good. Service was good, I don't recall anyone coming to check on us during our meal but that's OK. We didn't need anything as everything that we needed was available to us at the table.
