I should also add that I am a licensed therapist and deal with escalated, angry people for a living. (that will be relevant later!) Jaz is great. She should get a separate 5 star review. Very kind and informative. She is clearly an artist who knows her stuff and takes her job and pleasing the customer very seriously. (Go somewhere else girl! you are great and have talent!!!) Had an appointment for a mani/pedi. Had gel on (usually I get it done at my local salon in Manhattan where I live but this one I'd done myself using the essentnail gel they sell at drugstores) During the pedicure, I told Jaz I had gel. she informed me since it was another salon they'd charged $5 to remove it. Not what I'm used to, but some salons do this, so I thought that was totally fine. After the pedi, we go to soak my nails and instead of the cotton balls and foil method, she places my hands up to the knuckles in a soaker with 100% acetone. I didn't love my fingers being in acetone and the skin started to burn, so after 8 minutes when the first hand came out, I asked to remove the other one. This was when it got CRAZY. Immediately the mom got involved and said there was no difference, acetone gets on your skin that way too, THATS how WE remove nails, if I had "real shellac" on it would come right off, etc etc. I calmly explained that no matter if soaking my hands in acetone was okay or not, I'd just personally prefer not to have my fingers in acetone. She got even more indignant at this and told Jaz to "go get your phone and take pictures of her hands! NOW. so we can document her hands are NOT damaged." I continued to explain I wasn't upset nor did I think my hands were injured and she was welcome to take pictures of my hands. The mom kept making snide remarks so I finally said you know what, don't even worry about the manicure thats ok. BAD IDEA. The mom starts telling me shes "never been treated so rudely" by a customer and how DARE I not tell her I had my nails painted with gel (umm shouldn't you have asked when we schedule if its THAT big of a deal?) and they were doing me a favor removing them because it takes time (umm I was paying you $5 for the service) The mom is just being horrible, which upsets my older sister who starts yelling back at her and they both start yelling. Know that wasn't going to end well, I told my sister to wait in the car, so I could calmly pay and try to reason out the situation. My goal was to explain that I genuinely wasn't upset, I just don't want my hands in acetone. My sister slams the door and walks out. I tried to give my feedback once my sister left ("I dont want to hear your feedback" as the mom looked away and refused to make eye contact) and explain I was paying for a service and I've been to a lot of salons (to which the mom goes "I dont believe that" --LOL, ok) and I just wanted them removed with foil. None of my efforts worked so finally I said, just let me pay and I can get out of here. Noone made any effort to let me pay, or take my card which I had out. The mom just kept blaming me for not telling her I had nail polish on and saying "I have NEVER been treated this way." As a licensed therapist, I can assure you I was using a calm, level tone. I literally deescalate upset people for a living. The mom then starts blaming her daughter telling her it was her fault and she "never should have agreed to take the polish off" Once she started being nasty to her daughter (who literally did nothing wrong) I was DONE. I asked to pay repeatedly, and finally she tells me she doesn't even want my money and I need to leave. I grabbed my coat, said "jesus christ. this is ** crazy" slammed the door and left. (what I didn't know is that my sister had put down $50 in cash in her manicure table before walking out. That covered our services.) As I'm walking to the car Jaz came out to bring me my glasses. I offered to pay over and over again. Told her to bring out an ipad out whatever (at this point I didn't know my sister had paid). Finally I snuck a $10 in her robe for a tip because I felt so bad for her. TLDR? This all happened because I asked, calmly, if I could not soak my entire fingers in acetone. Craziest experience I have ever had. After we left the mom facebooked my sister saying we were horrible and we got "free services" (um yeah my sister left cash on the counter and you literally refused to let me pay you, so definitely not) If the mom ever wants to run a successful business she needs to learn how to not insult paying customers for services. Also lady, maybe find a therapist, practice meditation, and not take it as a personal affront to your integrity when someone makes a simple request about their personal preferences.

Luckily, I found Alpa and she was more than happy to help! At first she saw my eyebrows and notice how short they had been from previous years of threaded further and further back. So she advised me to grow them out (this was about a 2 month process to get all the hair to try and grow back) when they finally grew all the way back she threaded them so they look WAY more full and long! Whereas they used to look thin and sparse! 10/10 recommend! She definitely helped a girl out! The picture are a before and after of today's threading.
