Once upon a time, there was a heat wave that came unto the land... that was this summer. It was an unbearable time to be without the comforts of air conditioning. It had been about 15 years since I've grown accustomed to the luxury of the advent of this artificial climate controlled environment. For most of my life, I've not had the benefit of this at home. I would only be blessed with this amenity at work, for most of my adult life. I'm not sure how I was able to survive the sultry(yeah, during those Indian Summer nights, toward the end of summer) and dry summers(That's all the time) of Southern California. Born and raised in Los Angeles, and moving out to the SGV, I've seen my share of Summers here. But, this year with the weight of the Pandemic 2020, and the Safer at Home orders. I have not been able to escape LA, on vacation as I usually do these past years. I was chained to the abode and the Air Con was going all the time. Although, this A/C unit is pretty new, it was getting a run for the money. Lo and behold, just 10 scant days ago, the unimaginable happens! My A/C didn't turn on! Luckily, I was a subscriber with Fidelity Home Warranty, they dispatched an work order with A&M. However, I was one of the many! It took 4 days (no fault of A &M) for Shaun to get the time to come by. Shaun was a trooper! He gave me the straight scoop, no malarkey. On his first visit, he was up on that 3rd story, in that hottest of days of the current heat wave! He gave it his best shot, but had to order some parts. Troubleshooting, he remarked, we won't know if it'll work when the parts come in.... Today, Shaun was able to make it back with the parts needed, he was up there on that 3rd floor roof again, in that hot sun, it was touch and go, but Shaun came through like gangbusters! Even though, the part was replaced, Shaun had to do some heavy duty troubleshooting to find the culprit. Needless to say, I have now regained my humanity! I am back in the land of the living! You can not count on their word at all. I have Fidelity Home Warranty so A&M is the company in my area that Fidelity uses. The first time they came because of my A/C problem and they told me my AC filter was clogged so they will check with Fidelity to see if that is covered. A&M never got back to me. I am a first time home owner and didn't know an A/C filter was no big deal so I just too care of it on my own. Second time around my A/C was leaking water into my home. My system is in the attic. They came to take a look and said the drip pan is full of sludge and told me they will check with Fidelity if that is covered. Didn't hear back for a week so I followed up and they said oh yes it's covered we are just waiting for authorization from Fidelity. Another week goes by and I decided to call Fidelity directly and they told me they never received a report or request from A&M. I called A&M about this and they told me they will check the status and call me back that day. Guess what? I never got a call back from them at all. I did get a call back from Fidelity to tell me that I am not covered. I have no issue with the fact that certain items aren't covered in my home warranty. What I have issue with is A&M saying something and never following through. That's two extra weeks of water damage in my home because of A&M not being able to keep their word. read more

I recently moved into my home and found that our air conditioner stopped responding. My home is still covered by warranty through Fidelity, and A&M came to the rescue! Disappointed. I was expecting great service. The girl over the phone seemed very nice but for whatever reason I could not get anybody to actually show up to there appointments. One just never came, no call or anything just didn't show up and one came with no ladder( and they were aware I had a 2 story condo, I double checked before appointment was made). Shawn owner of A&M, is a great person to deal with, very personable. I called and after determining my needs he came over to the house to check the status. He immediately gave me a written estimate with a detailed breakdown of the work needed to do the job. He gave me a start date and how long the job would take. He started the job on time with two other workers who were very knowledgeable and left the place very clean each day. There were a few electrical problems not related to the A/C which Shawn fixed as well. The installation was went well and everything looks and works great. I called Shaun about my father in law's A/C and heater in the middle of August during the heatwave. He called me back within a day and came out the next day to inspect it. After 30 years he needed a whole new system. After setting up a date, his crew came in and put in a whole new system, A/C, separate Heater and also Ducting. It only took them 4 days to install it all and his house is now a comfortable 75 degrees during all of these hot days. Thanks Shaun for the great service and workmanship. Shawn, the owner, came by today and quickly fixed my AC unit. I had a previous bad experience with another HVAC company who was trying to charge me $900 to replace the motherboard on my AC. He quickly traced an electrical line back to the problem and did not need to replace the motherboard. I will be calling A&M for all my household needs from now on. read more

The company was sent to my elderly mother's home through a home warranty company. They convinced her that her heater was unsafe to use and quoted her, verbally, over a thousand dollars to repair. She was never provided a written estimate. We got another opinion and there was nothing wrong with her system. Do not use these guys. read more

Very Shady Company After my AC stopped working, one of the techs added WAY to much coolant into my unit which made it stop working a day later. They came back and said I must have an abscess (something stuck) and they would have to flush out my entire system for about 600$ or, I could buy a new system. I contracted another company for a second opinion and they told me these guys put too much coolant in my system and there are a lot of crooks out there that do this to get you to replace your system. After trying to contact them several times. Btw, they don't have an operator, or at least they do sometimes. After they agreed to give me a refund, however they said they mailed the check on 2 occasions but I never received it. Finally after she left, the boss answered and said they never sent anything and I should fax in the receipt, which I did. However now they don't answer or return my calls anymore. At this point I'm fed up, and not only do I have to report that these guys are probably crooks, which I wouldt have said if they would have honored their credit. But they clearly put too much coolant in my system and have no intentions on crediting me. BEWARE read more

Air conditioning was out in 95+ heat on a friday night with little ones at home. Home warranty (fidelity) assigned me to these guys. I was initially very, very skeptical due to reviews on yelp but fidelity told me they were their highest rated company. Luckily, I gave them a chance. Initially i was pretty disappointed because I left messages on Sat and Sunday but didn't hear anything back. Their voicemail should say their hours of operation which is only mon-fri. Would not have assumed I was being ignored if I knew they were closed. I heard back around 10:30 on Monday and they scheduled me for the next day with a five hour window. Asked for them to call with 1/2 hour to go. Sean did call 1/2 hour before he came and was very pleasant and knowledgable. He troubleshooted the problem (which in my case was a capacitor) and had the part on his truck (woo hoo) so I had working a/c within 20 minutes! I was really happy with the service call and with Sean. I am deducting one star because no website to see their hours of operation and they need more info on their voicemail (which is an easy fix). read more

WOW wish I didn't have to give a start for this review. This is the worst f***en company ever. We had an appointment set with this company due to my home warranty.... big mistake. They were set to come to my residence two weeks ago. They "forgot" to show up the first attempt. The second attempt they didn't have a ladder the proper size. The third time they "attempted" to complete their contractual obligation they brought a bigger ladder, but it still was two feet short. I live in a 2 story residence. They are a "professional" company... They are never prepared.... Now the last time was the final straw... they were set to show up at 5pm.... I waited until 7pm at my residence as I had to leave to an appointment. I left several voice mails and nobody still has called me back. I will be requesting a cash out with my home warranty. read more

I have had several negative encounters with HVAC companies in the last few years. The company selection hasn't always been under my control, since I have a policy with Fidelity Home Warranty. But if I do have control over the company selection in the future, I'm definitely going to request A&M. First off, they went out of their way to accommodate my schedule. Our AC was broken, and we didn't want to wait 3 days in 90+ degree heat to have them inspect, so the company found a way to fit us in between 1-5. Then he arrived early and have me a courtesy call. Win! I'm probably a bit gleeful because this was a simple fix (capacitor needed replacement), but the tech had one in his truck. Fixed in 30 minutes, and the guy was very friendly. Hard to ask for anything more, so 5 stars. :) read more

I contacted A&M on Wednesday the 6th, with them saying they would have both parts on Wednesday the 8th for our furnace. I have left messages and called several times to their office over the last 12 days. After getting no contact from them, we decided to look a few days ago for someone else to do it. We remembered when we looked up another company that a man from our church does HVAC and hired him instead. He came right away, went up and took the fan in to get the part and says he won't know for sure until he puts the part in, but he believes the engine is completely fine and our cost will be considerably lower. I have 3 children that have been living in 54° for almost two weeks now. I should have looked at your Yelp review because some of them sounded strangely similar to my story. When I told them that we have hired someone else and wont be needing their services any longer, I got a very rude text message and voicemail from someone named Carly saying I was ungrateful because her husband had driven that day to Sac to get the parts on the 17th. If they would have answered any of my messages, or calls, none of this would have happened. Even if they hadn't listened to my messages, or missed calls, you would think it would be common courtesy to update the client that the original plan wouldn't be possible. The only positive thing to come out of this whole mess was that the two men that came out to look at the unit were very kind. read more

Sean came out to fix my Air Conditioning after Pasadena was in the 100 degrees the last few days. Turns out it's actually a breaker that was fried. It's an electrical problem and so I had to call an electrician to take care of it, as this was a home policy through Fidelity Home Warranty. Sean however went the extra mile and went to 2 locations to find the breaker, bring it back, installed it and now I have cool air again in this sweltering heat! He could have passed the buck but took the initiative to get it done so I didn't have to wait several days for another tech to come out. I could not have been more impressed with A&M services. They went well beyond my expectations. They were professional and very competent. They did several things that probably would not have been done by another company. For example, doing concrete work to seal the intake and outtake ducts. The price was very competitive. Very helpful. I started with a different company that my home warranty company provided. I was given bad information and asked for a second opinion. Luckily Shawn at A&M Heating and Air was the vendor. He and his team were honest, very helpful, and ON TIME! They were available over the weekend. They went above and beyond to come up with a creative solution to provide cooling while we waited (short wait) for a new unit. I would absolutely recommend their services and will use them again. Fidelity Home warranty sent this company out for a repair of a non working A/C unit. The company sent out someone that clearly was not knowledgeable. They ordered a part that took almost 2 weeks to arrive. When they installed it, they found out the compressor was not working. That was on a Thursday. I called them the following Monday and they still have not called in authorization to order the part. Meantime the temps are in the 90s. 2.5 weeks later the unit is not fixed and the warranty company will have to find someone else. They are sending someone today to fix it and have told A&M not to complete the repair. read more

My air conditioner stopped blowing. (I have an OLDER unit.) Not good! Fidelity assigned my job to A&M. Shaun arrived at our agreed upon scheduled day and time. My VERY protective pit bull was OK with him coming in so I knew I was in good hands. Shaun was courteous, professional, personable and friendly. He correctly diagnosed the problem quickly. Of course, the part needed to be ordered (1-2 weeks for delivery). Shaun took care of obtaining all of the paperwork needed and promptly called to schedule installation of the new evaporative coil when it arrived. Again, he arrived during the agreed upon time window and gave me a courtesy call when he was on his way. He showed me the old, rusted coil. His diagnosis was spot on! He even found, diagnosed and solved a secondary issue for me. BOTH jobs involved him going under my house to fix, no easy way to do that! I would not hesitate to have A&M come to my home again. A&M was dispatched to my home via Fidelity's Home Warranty program as my heater wasn't working properly. Received a call from them the next day to schedule a time that worked for the both of us. They called 30 minutes before arrival and showed up on-time which I appreciated and was very professional from the start. The technician took his time to properly figure out the problem and his determination paid off as he was able to figure out the root cause; not apply some 10 minute Band-Aid fix that didn't work like the two other repair companies before him did.
