I just had the most relaxing, much needed and meticulous pedicure I've ever had. I work so much that I hadn't gone in 2 years- a little embarrassing but I do it myself usually. Someone gifted me a gift certificate, so I went. The massage chair was great, the service is friendly. Cammy took her time- massaged my legs & feet for what felt like forever- and after working 3 jobs, 2 of which require a lot of standing, I really needed this. This is a place that i was going to a long time. Until the owner got too comfortable years ago and giving me mediocre service. Squeezing a lot of people in and then my nails get rushed. The owner Jessica was a super bitch earlier. Without getting into it. I just want to say that I saw a side of Jessica in a different light today. I honestly stopped going there because my nails got rushed through only to break or chip them after less than a week. And. Jessica had the nerves to tell me that she was fucking pissed for me not showing up at 6:30 when she closes at 7. I texted her to say since the salon is closed at 7, no need for me to get there and spend half an hour....with full set of dip powder. Only today, she informed me she would have stayed. Well. How about telling me that instead of cursing at me earlier. It took everything in me not to.... My birthday weekend. Her lucky day. I don't care for how I was a client. I am giving them 3 stars based off of the fact that they were professional when I called back letting them know I didn't like the end product but the original nail job itself could be rated a solid two. (Photos below) I tried to let the nail tech know in the moment that I didn't like it (especially because I had asked for dip and he was painting my nail with a brush like it was acrylic) - I was very confused) he kept trying to reassure me and I didn't want to offend him so I let him continue. I should have known better but I was in a pinch and needed my nails done. When I went back the following day I wasn't charged and the woman (very nice) fixed the original job. They looked much better however they weren't what I was used to so I was still a bit disappointed. So disappointed! I went in for a gel mani & regular polish pedi...got there at 3:50 waited an hour to be seen, & the guy doing my toes had to redo the big toes after messing up the flowers? really? After I said gel for my hands SEVERAL TIMES, he proceeded to do a reg polish (I was hoping I was wrong and the top coat would be shellac bc it was a French manicure but I was wrong ) asked for rainbow on my ring fingers and got half red nail, a line of orange, & a line of green and half blue.... I was so disappointed but it was now 6 PM!!! I needed to get home and didn't want to wait to have him fix it :( this is a nail salon, design requests shouldn't be difficult. This was not my first choice, but every other nail place with a good rating was closed today. The inside is not very kept looking, but that doesn't mean that they don't do quality work. I was told it'd be a 15 minute wait. I waited close to 25, so I opted just for a pedicure, without a manicure. The water in the tub was cold. It wasn't a terrible pedicure but it was sub par. On my way out to pay, they don't take credit cards on Sunday. Sunday's are cash only. There is a small yellow flyer behind the register-but no other indication or even a verbal remark to let me know This was policy. Naturally, I don't have enough cash and have already received the services and have to pay. So I paid A&V for the (over priced) pedicure, I tipped because regardless of quality, that's what I do; and finally the associated bank fees for having to use the only ATM around-a bank of which I do not belong too. This was my second time coming here the first wasn't the best first impression but I took the risk because sun did a good job the FIRST time I went . Now let's get into this visit I had yesterday , I had an appt at 4pm it was 4:50 and he STILL hadn't shown up I told them I needed to be out by 6 to pick up my son . So I ask "Jess" for a pedicure in the meantime she told me I had to wait .. cool so a whole hour goes by I've gotten nothing done just sitting there still waiting . By the time sun came in I had an hour to get a FULLSET and a PEDICURE, which I didn't end up getting after spending 3.5 hours in a salon watching people walk in and out as management "Jess"seemed to only care for her appts not the ones already in her salon . The set I originally wanted sun to do I knew he wasn't going to finish in the hour so keep in mind I got a regular fullset with gel Well they're all uneven , and look messy , he proceeded to charge me 55 for this set but I'm already furious at this point because there's no way he just did these and thought they were good . So now it's 6:10 and he's just finishing up these crazy looking nails y'all , like if you know his work you'll see what I mean , they're asking me about this pedicure the whole salon knows I don't have time for because I couldn't have expressed enough how I needed to be out by 6 and I was already pushing it as it's passed 6 already . So I tell the gentleman let's just do a polish change quickly since I don't have time for a full pedicure , he said okay and proceeded to do the thickest messiest polish change ever . In the end they ripped me off and charged me 80 dollars for the most bullshit job ever . Have y'all ever heard of a 25 dollar POLISH CHANGE ? horrible experience. I had a horrible experience a few years back but thought to myself , hey, they are always busy, maybe things changed?. WRONG. I went in my pedi was mehh , water was COLD, murdered my feet when scrubbings but my biggest issue was my nail tech for my dip nails. Not only was she eating food every , but other minute but the cotton from the cotton ball used to remove my polish was stuck to my nails and fingers and she said ''oh that will come out in the shower''. Like what? Then, she got mad bc I asked her to do three coats of dip instead of 2 bc the two looked unfinished. My nails werent shaped, I have bubbles in my nails and dents (weirdly enough) and I left w/ bleeding cuticles. Needless to say, I would rather my nails fall off than to step back in the place again. Great experience! Gabby did an excellent job on my nails. I didn't think French was possible because my nails are short right now, but she made it work and they look great! She even painted a little white heart on my ring finger instead of the usual French tip...super cute! Her husband did my pedi, also great job. I'm new to the area and was looking for a salon to establish a relationship with and this is definitely the one! The place was crowded...always a good sign, and the women there knew the staff, which means they are all regulars...also a good sign. They take walk-ins or appts and are very reasonably priced. I've been in three times now to have my nails done and each time they have come out great. I always do Gel (have done both gel mani and pedi with them) and they always last 3+ weeks, which for me is great because I'm pretty hard on my nails. My gel pedicure lasted a month which I would say was well worth the $45. Gel mani is always $25, and they always guarantee their gel mani's for 2 weeks. I came here after seeing this place had 5 stars on yelp. They definitely lived up to my expectations! I got a gel manicure, fairly priced at $25. I wanted a neon color and the manicurist was honest and said the brand of polish wasn't the best, but since I wanted it, she said if anything happened I could come back and they'd fix it. I gave this place so many chances and I should not have. Each and every time the paint begins to chip after a day or two. With gel! I went back the first three times this happened and they did fix it for free. However, one time I went back and the nail tech shook his head and clucked his tongue saying what a bad job they did. It was him who had originally done it. Another time a woman peeled off the gel with a tool. She claimed they weren't supposed to do it this way but "my nails were ready." I only started getting my nails consistently done this past year so I thought it was normal for nails to chip quickly or perhaps because I have a very hands on job. I got a manicure elsewhere while on vacation and the gel lasted over three weeks with no chipping. I went back to A&V and it was chipped the next day. Not worth my time or yours. I love this place!!! I found it through Yelp, because of the many great ratings and haven't been disappointed! I've been assisted by Jess, her brothers Lee and Sun. They've all been great! Super attentive, professional, and talented people! Sun especially gives the best foot and hand massage, and his French manicure is like no other! I wish the place was bigger and the establishment made justice to the talent and hard work of these people. Don't be turned off by the small dated shop, they're absolutely amazing! This is the worst nail salon and worst ran business I've ever been to. I got my nails done on a Friday and they all chipped and lifted by Sunday. I went back after the long weekend (Tuesday) to get my nails fixed and they told me they didn't have time to for me and to come back tomorrow. Even though this upset me, I agreed to come back at the same time the next day. I went back on Wednesday at 4 and they said I was supposed to come at 5 and that I would have to wait a half hour. This is completely unacceptable because they are the ones who rushed through my nails in the first place. DO NOT give this gross and dirty place your business. read more

I wanted to write a review on this little Gem in Winthrop. I have been going here for about 2 years now and have always been pleased with their talant. I first started coming to this Nail Salon after I had a disaster of a Nail Job done the day of my wedding at a Nail Salon at Square One Mall. I now have learned the hard way that you never get your nails done in a Mall (Especially for a big event) because they want to take in as many customers as possible they do not care how the end result looks. I left the Mall so disappointed and on my way home I decided to see if any of the Local Nail Salons near my house could help me. The first place I went to could not help because they said it would be too much work to undo what the other place had done.. I decided to try one more place and Thank Goodness I stumbled across A & V Nails Salon. The Ladies their helped me redo the nails that were done at the Mall and Did a fantastic Job. I knew It being my Wedding day that my hands were going to be photographed so I can not thank them enough for their help. I have been going there for Business ever since. The staff there is very personable and they remember me everytime I come in the door. They are all very talanted and hard workers.
