I recently adopted a beautiful little girl. My sweet daughter needed a haircut badly. Frankly, she never had a haircut before and was terrified of the salon. Her hair finally got out control and we needed to do something. I picked A Beautiful You salon strictly based on the yelp reviews. And I was absolutely NOT DISAPPOINTED. Liz in a diamond in the rough and we both loved her. She made my daughter's hair look beautiful and gave me MANY helpful tips for how to take better care of her hair. She didn't make me feel bad and I did not feel judged. She put my mind at ease that there is a learning curve to caring for natural hair, and she would help me and my girl every step of the way. "Far From Customer Service" I sent pictures to the owner prior to appointment and also shared pictures at the appointment, which neither did any good. The owner, which I have been patronizing even though her hair care is not for 'women of color,' did a HORRIBLE job. There was no similarity to the pictures, she tried to do a 3 hour job in 1.5 hours, refused to refund money. I had to go home and redo my hair before going to work. Liz did an amazing job on my hair. I'm so happy with it! I recently moved to the area and was kind of hesitant to try a new hair salon, but the rest of the reviews were good so I gave it a try and it was the best decision. I'm used to having longer hair but decided to go with a short bob like cut with china bangs and she did it exactly the way that I wanted. I was in and out in a decent amount of time and the price was great. $65 for a wash, cut, press and style. I'll definitely be going back to see her. And the shop is clean too. read more

I wish that I knew of Liz 3 years ago when I moved to Oside because she is the expert on natural hair. Since I moved here I was very reluctant to go to a stylist who did not know how to work with natural hair, so I've been giving myself hair trims and not doing a very good job of it. I came in w/ curly hair so she could have an idea of the shape. She shampooed, deep conditioned w/ heat, blow dried, flat ironed and gave me a much need trim and shape. I went to Liz for nearly a month ago for a (relaxer) re-touch on my roots. I was very impressed- she works quickly, efficiently and methodically. I'm normally nervous when I have to see someone other than my own stylist, but felt instantly relaxed the moment she began working with my hair. Her prices are more than fair- in my opinion, she could charge far more for, because the quality of her work warrants it. No matter if you are Caucasian, African American, Latina, Asian, or Bi-racial, Liz is can make create an even more Beautiful You". While I was there, a Bi-racial woman who is Asian and African American called. She was looking for someone who could tame her tresses. I was impressed by Liz's willingness to take her right away. Very accommodating. Most importantly, I felt comfortable with her and right at home. She welcomed me with open arms. Many stylists, but local and afar go out of their way to charge you sky high prices-$60 for a silly trim. Close to $100 for a simple wash & blow dry. Not Liz, she is so reasonable. New year and a new location! Lizz's salon is now located at 1124 South Coast Highway. I have adored this hairdresser since I arrived in California back in November 2016. It's rare to find a beautician that is both creatively gifted at her skill and incorporates a positive vibe in her salon. Being in the military, I thank God for finding a beautician like Lizz. She is honest, understanding, and caring. NOW, let's talk about my recent visit. I went to her for brows and lashes. She did them exactly how I wanted...a natural look. Honey, when she finished my lashes and I looked n the mirror...I was amazed! I tried so hard to hold back because I didn't want to mess up her work, but I cried tears of joy! It was PERFECT! Her new location is so awesome! If you are a military member or spouse that wants to go to a place to become a regular customer or treat yourself, look no further! There is now African styled clothing and jewelry for sale! When I found her new location, its like an oasis of beauty, spiritual mecca, or finding a perfectly crafted pearl in a shell surrounded by other common businesses. LOL! I couldn't believe her pretty salon was located among "the others". This new location is very fitting for the theme of the name of the salon. Lizz was my hairstylist and makeup artist for my wedding and I am so thankful for her! If I could rate her higher than 5 stars, I would. Ladies, this is a long review, but I promise you it's worth reading. I planned my wedding in a very short amount of time and was surprised at how quickly I was able to put everything together. The venue was set and I found the perfect dress to match the sunset ceremony I had envisioned. My final and most important concern however was my hair and makeup. I was getting married on the beach and I wanted long beautiful beach waves, but my hair was very short. I had never had extensions before and I had no idea where to start. I had several consultations with different stylists and each of them presented me with a different option and method, all of which were outrageously priced. I had no idea which option was the best for me nor did I want to spend $600 plus on a hairstyle. For my makeup, I was quoted a minimum of $200 by multiple makeup artists in the area and decided that I would just do it myself. The last hair stylist I called was Lizz. I had found her on yelp a while back but hesitated to call because her salon had very few reviews. At this point however, I was starting to panic. My wedding was only 2 weeks away and I hadn't found anyone yet. I called Lizz after business hours and left her a message. She called me back that same evening and we had a brief phone consultation about what it is I wanted. I immediately fell in love with her. She was friendly, down to earth and knowledgeable and I knew she was going to do what was best for me and not herself. I told her I had no idea how to go about choosing extensions and which method was best. She asked me a few questions about my wedding and informed me that I could easily go a more inexpensive route and still have amazing beach wedding hair. She even offered to meet me that weekend at a beauty supply near my house to help me pick out the right extensions that matched my hair perfectly. Every other stylist I had spoken to before had left me on my own to pick my hair and I was so confused when I went to the beauty supply because there were just too many options. Lizz completely eliminated that process. She took one look at my hair and knew exactly what to get. We were in and out in minutes. We booked the appointment to get my hair done for the morning of my wedding, at which point she offered to do my makeup and eyelashes at a very reasonable price. She assured me that I would look absolutely stunning. I believed her when she told me that and suddenly I was no longer worried or stressed. The morning of my wedding, I went to the salon with my maid of honor, bridesmaid and my mother. Even though it was very last minute, she agreed to take care of them as well. We had such a blast! Lizz made us feel right at home. Her salon was really nice. There was a small lounge area with couches for the girls to hang out at while they waited. The music was pumping in the background setting a cool, fun yet laid back/relaxing vibe. Lizz let us eat our breakfast and joined us in some hilarious girl talk while doing my hair. I almost forgot I was getting married that day. With all the fun we were having, I no longer felt anxious or nervous. It was a great start to my day. When she was done with my hair she proceeded to put on my lashes, then apply my makeup. I was going for bold, dramatic eyes with a soft glowing complexion. Lizz knew exactly what to do. When she was done, I nearly cried - and my mother actually did cry. It was better than I could have ever imagined. My hair was absolutely amazing! Long, flowing curls that I would later brush into waves ran down my shoulders and back. It looked so unbelievable natural. And my makeup! My skin looked flawless and my eyes were "captivating" (my husband's words). I can't begin to tell you how many amazing compliments I received about my hair and makeup. But it was the look on my husbands face when he saw me walking down the aisle that said it all. I swear to god his jaw dropped to the floor when he saw me. During the ceremony, he kept whispering to me how breathtaking and beautiful I looked. It was absolutely magical. And I owe it all to Lizz! She made my day perfect and I can't thank her enough. Since then, I have gone to her for all of my routine hair needs and for special events such as the marine corps ball. Each time I go to her salon, we have just as much fun as we did on my wedding day and I always come out looking amazing. She has spoiled me and every single one of her other clients. Liz is so kind and very accommodating to last minute scheduling! I needed an appointment for a pop-up trip and she was able to see me on the same day, just a few hours after calling. I needed a press & curl - which she did beautifully - with an actual pressing comb! I'm Black and definitely do not trust just anyone with my hair and I am more than pleased with Liz's work. She even trimmed my ends to make everything even and polished. My hair has NEVER been so soft, even with the color I've added. I will definitely return and recommend her to others. read more

I have been to other hair salons (in my area when i am short on time) and have received good and bad results but Lliz has never dissappointed me. Her cuts and styles are by far the best I have received. I can depend on her to give me the look I desire each and every time. I am half white and Peruvian and my hair is thick, wavy and long (down to my butt long) and she has worked her magic in layering my hair, making beautiful curls, or sleek and straight hair, gorgeous waves, and beautiful healthy looking hair. Her clients come from all different ethnicities so it takes a special skill to master each hair type. I live in San Diego so sometimes it can be a challenge to drive up to her salon but it is well worth the drive. Her hospitality, company and affordable prices make it all worthwhile. read more

I went in here to get a simple haircut and the stylist did a great job. She was very attentive, as soon as I walked in the door she was already asking me what it was that I needed. She gave me a lot of options and let me take my time in explaining exactly how I wanted my hair. The quality here is just as good as any other salon except here a regular haircut is half the price at twenty five dollars. I came here only once and yes the owner was a doll. She invited me out to hang with her since I was from the east coast and she was very easy to get along with. She also got the style that I wanted. My only issue, was that when I got home less than a week later my sew-in in the back began to come loose. She offered to fix it for free and she did, but she literally tired my fair up in a knot in the back and I felt completely uncomfortable with the way she"fixed" it. Overall it's good service. But I'd have to think twice if she messed up again. read more
