The most amazing vegan food in all of Bend!! Richard is such a talented chef. I have eaten most items on his menu and a few favorites are the Mount Bachelor Hash, i like to get mine in burrito form rather than plated form but either way you get it...bring your appetite or know you will have some leftovers. I love both kinds of tacos, there's a smoked turtle bean with jicama slaw and pickled Serrano peppers and the other one is a truffle potato taco...also amazing. The other dish that is to die for is the homemade Biscuits and Mushroom Gravy...being from the south, it's like being transported with each bite. So I walked from the office to this little food cart I had been eyeing for weeks! I had no idea it was vegan. I ordered the hash. It was spicy potatoes covered in mushroom gravy, black beans, some veggie mix of onions and kale(I think) topped with avocado slices and served with two corn tortillas. It was so so good! And only $7. I got the hubby a black bean burrito w avocado for $8. It was huge!! Sadly my husband who is a true carnivore was craving some cheese and/or sour cream and likely some meat but he kept that to himself! The special of the day was a biscuit w split pea and a spinach salad w strawberries and Avacado that looked amazing! Sadly I don't like peas, so I didn't get this. The menu has tacos, pancakes, smoothies, biscuits & gravy. Quite a large menu for this tiny cart! The seating is decent with good weather. Palate has a large outdoor patio and the cart does have a small table with two chairs. But, in bad weather it seems like it might be awkward to go inside Palate unless u were going to buy a beverage... The owner did say the back patio of Palate will be redone and they will have better seating. So excited to be able to stop by last Saturday and enjoy the best food truck in Bend, hands down!!! It was such a treat to meet Barb and share a few moments with a fellow sista vegan! Mad love for this couple, the food and their hard work in creating such an amazing biz! We had the enchilada short stack- roasted chili's, squash, potatoes, smoked turtle beans, & baby spinach layered between white corn tortillas--with avocado & poblano crème (my fav) grilled super burrito- house scramble*, smoked turtle beans, braised greens, squash, roasted chilis, & caramelized onions w/ griddle potatoes (huge portion, delicious) Tacos: w/black truffle potato with braised greens & roasted chilis (love) AND finally the Biscuits & wild mushroom gravy with house scramble (my husbands favorite) Yes all this for just us two because they are not open Sunday's... we brought home our left overs and they were just as yummy the 2nd time around. So. Good. Best vegan meal I've had in Bend. Affordable. $8 for a HUGE plate of biscuits and gravy and tofu scramble. That I'm positive will be delicious left over too, even if the biscuits will be soggy. Lovely location, nice places to sit outside. Very nice staff. The only downside was that we had to wait ~20 minutes for food, which they told us when we ordered. And it was definitely worth the wait. We will be back, for sure!! Whether you're vegan or not, Broken Angel is super delicious and healthy. I usually get the Mt Bachelor hash--the gravy is so good! The enchiladas are also a great choice! This place gives a lot of food (at least 2 meals worth for me) so bring a Tupperware to take home left overs. The owners are kind and you can tell they are really passionate about preventing waste and ethical food sourcing. A great value and delicious choice! read more

Rich is the man and has been a chef forever, and truly cares so much about the food. The griddle cakes are outta control and the biscuits and gravy will put you in a food coma. :) Rich always greets his customers with a smile and "Hello Friends!" My wife and I ate there this past weekend and the food was as good as it gets. We shared a "hash" and an enchilada meal of some sort and both were incredible. This was one of our favorite meals in many years. We asked the friendly woman taking orders for recommendations and we were glad we did. The thing I can't even comprehend is the meals were only $8. $8. I said $8. Why would anyone grocery shop and cook??? The seating is outdoors in a nice patio area. Just go and bring 9 people with you and you will have spent $80. $80. I said $80 for 10 people eating world-class food. This place makes the world better:) read more

5 stars for the food, chef, and the amazing coffee shop it's attached to. Literally the best place to eat in Bend. 100% vegan, but I bet you wouldn't be able to tell. Huge portions, low prices. Service has slightly gone down, and they constantly sell out or open late which is disappointing, but we love the mission, food, and atmosphere! Must visit! Just be ready to wait a while, if they haven't sold out yet. Highly recommend the Mount Bachelor Hash, the Big Country (to die for biscuits and gravy with a tofu scramble) or the super burrito with half potato and half rice. :-) read more

Amazing vegan food comes out of this tiny cart! They don't have fake meat here, just local plant-based food that's magically tasty, with protein coming from beans, etc. Even if you're not vegan, you'll love it. Kids will like it too--my 12-year-old stepson did. He orders from the adult menu, but they have kid-friendly menu items too. I highly recommend. My only wish is that they were in Seattle where we live so I could eat there all the time! But we are already planning our next visit and will eat here any time we're in Bend. read more

This is the best food in Bend. I've had burritos, tacos, and tostadas. I *need* try the biscuits. Rich is friendly and always remembers me. I eat here once or twice a week. You can use the seating at Palate Coffee Bar, either outdoors or indoors. Sometimes I get a coffee afterward. read more

great food, great service, great prices. i can sing nothing but praises for this place. the portion sizes are huge and can last me several meals (i usually get the mt bachelor hash). also, i love how the gravy is homemade. this is the kind of place where they pride themselves on being actually plant based instead of substituting traditionally nonvegan items with highly processed junk. the vibe of their little patio is so nice as well. pay this place a visit! the best all vegan place in bend in my opinion. read more
