This is a review I hesitate writing because I don't want everybody and their grandmother knowing about it for the next time we travel to Bend. It's that good. Coming from Portland, I know good-excellent food card fare.....this rates excellent. I suggest ordering ahead and setting a time to pick it up (in three straight days they never were late with my order). I ordered the burrito the first day with potatoes. I ordered the same thing the second day but went with the dill jasmine rice instead of potatoes (which I believe I preferred (barely!). Third day I went with my wife's suggestion and had some tacos. All three days the flavors were on point and I ate every last bite. Generous portions as well! Also, the customer service was excellent making sure that I had utensils if needed as well as offering one of their two house made salsas. There's never any time for chit-chat running a busy food truck but I never felt rushed to take my order and leave. I'm not sure if this is a family operation but they came across very familiar with each other in a good way. A fine oiled machine is what I would classify it as. Sad that we don't live in Bend to eat there once a week but we'll be sure to see them again on our next visit! read more

Does eating at Broken Angel multiple times a week mean I have an addiction? I SAY NO. Some of the best food in Bend, hands down. Moving here from Portland, the shift in the food scene was sad, but A Broken Angel ups the city's game. I've brought at least a dozen friends here and it's been a hit with all of them. The owner, Rich, is Da Man (you'll see) and the food is incredible. For breakfast, get the biscuits with the scramble on the side. For lunch, try the Mt Bachelor hash or super burrito. Bringing someone here for the first after telling them how much we liked the food previously. Food was pretty good, 7/10. Philly sandwich was a little soggy but still tasted good. Anyways we were super excited about the sticky buns, but they came out cold, dry, and not sticky, like they may have been over cooked a little. Asked the cashier if there was anything they could do to fix it, she just gave us a refund which was fine. The cook then came out and yelled at us to never come back to the restaurant again. A Broken Angel is a tiny vegan food truck located right behind the coffee shop (Palate) I was currently at for the day doing work. The food truck is practically attached to the building and the coffee shop is super cool with you ordering food from them and eating it in the shop, in fact they pretty much encourage it and help spread the word. I am definitely down when two small business like this support each other - and their food was super healthy and gives you a chance to get a full meal rather than just have to snack on pastries & coffee all day at the shop. This place is amazing! I've been walking by it for weeks, smelling the warm delicious spices in the air. And today I decided to try it out - Biscuits and gravy with tofu scramble. Yum. The portion size was generous and I could have shared or saved for later, but instead gobbled it up in one sitting. I loved the blend of spices and assorted veggies. The biscuits were fluffy and the gravy smooth and creamy. They also had special homemade peach Serrano jam. That made it - the touch of sweetness with the savory biscuits and gravy...Oh my. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. It's a tiny operation, so on a busy day, bring a book, go for a walk, or enjoy a cup of tea/coffee at Palate. So, I've known about this place for at least 2 years now, but I live 3 hours away and haven't had the chance to try them out until TODAY! I ordered the biscuit and gravy scramble, (can't remember the name). Can I just say these are the best biscuits I've ever tasted?!? Holy mackerel, and the gravy was to die for. Rich even offered me more gravy because he knew I'd need it!! The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the homemade hot sauces were the perfect topper! I also ended up ordering the super burrito to have for lunch/dinner later. My daughter and husband ordered it and both scarfed them down in a matter of minutes, so I'm pretty sure that means they loved them! Can't wait to try mine! Honestly best vegan breakfast in bend. This morning bub got the biscuits with tofu scramble veg on the side and loved it (he usually isn't a fan of vegan food so this was a big step forward). and I got the griddle cakes. Best griddle cakes I've ever had! Huge portions for a very affordable price, will definitely be back for more! Great spot! We sat at the patio shared by Palate coffee, Amber took our order was lovely and super friendly and helpful. Food was outstanding fresh and a massive amount especially for the price. I had the blue corn chili hash special and could not finish it, may guest had the super burrito and it was a beast, both were full of flavor and prepared with care and expertise. Honestly, I hate having to give vegan places a not so great review but there were a few things here that I feel warrant it. Food: It was okay, but not as good as I would expect, for the area and how many options there are (not alot) I'll give them a pass on this as it wasnt bad just not EXCEPTIONAL. With that said, both of the days we went there they seemed to be out of a lot of the things on the menu and even after we (and others) had been waiting over 30 minutes the cook decided to tell us he ran out of an item and that we would either need to change our order or accept a substitution. Why this doesnt get told to us before we order I don't know... Now the main reason behind my bad review is the cooks attitude. I could hear him yelling and complaining about how slammed he was the entire time and quite frankly it got pretty annoying to listen to. He was very outspoken and it was a little concerning how many children were there to hear it, I would never go here with my kids after hearing him, and he even mentioned something about someone else that works there had mentioned it before to him, he honestly seems like he either needs to find another job or suck it up. Anyways, hopefully they can work out the kinks as I would like to support this business. read more
