I'm vegetarian and was asked whether I could have the ravioli sampler but swap out the lobster ravioli for an all veggie sampler. Generous serving (took some of it home) with light, delicious sauce. I went to A Ca Mia yesterday for lunch with my daughter. My daughter ordered ravioli and I had pasta with broccoli rape. They were average at best. Each order came with two slices of toasted white bread which in my opinion is very weak for an Italian restaurant. When my daughter wanted some more bread, we were told that lunch comes with only two slices and that I would have to buy an order of bread. I did but I won't go back and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. read more

Been here before..years ago. Our table of ten was seated right away. Our very courteous waitress made sure we were satisfied with everything we ordered. The antipasto with mortadella, prosciutto, salami, artichoke hearts, white beans,ripe tomatoes with mozzarella..and the fresh tasting bruschetta were great openers. The Cesar salad was dressed nicely and had a slight saltiness to the croutons. I had the special: the pork Osso bucco with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The very large portion of fall off the bone meat, accompanied by a delicious demi glacé was superb, the asparagus crunchy, and dense potatoes sweet. I finished with what I thought was a single cannoli, but actually it was an order containing 4..of which I finished one. Just too much really good food. The faces on my very satisfied dinner companions spoke volumes. My only complaint is there should be more "traditional " pasta dishes on the menu. It's a little expensive, but the quality dictates the cost. Highly recommend! read more

The only way I could see this place getting positive reviews is if there used to be a different owner or head chef or something. It was obvious from start to finish that the food is of very poor quality. We were a party of six, plus two kids, so we had a lot meals to use as a basis for judgment. We ordered the bruschetta appetizer which was literally large pieces of white bread, like Wonder Bread, cut in half and barely toasted. We also ordered the antipasto which, for $22, should have been twice the size. My MIL and SIL ordered the ravioli sampler, and it was, by far, the worst ravioli any of us had ever eaten. It was mushy and greasy and just plain disgusting. Everyone else's entrees were some combination of oily, greasy, undercooked, or under flavored. We didn't bother telling our waitress because we could just tell that this is the way the food is prepared at this place. It was like eating in a middle school cafeteria. I assume that they somehow manage to stay in business because they are right in the outdoor mall. However, with all of the other great places in Cape May, skip this one and go somewhere that actually knows how to make food. read more

We stopped by on a Friday lunch late and we all got the same thing: Caesar salad and the meat lasagna. I have to say it was very very good. The sal was dressed nicely with great flavor and the lasagna was perfect, not one flavor jumping out but a combination that just worked. A Ca Mia was the restaurant in Cape May where we held our rehearsal dinner on Friday of Columbus Day Week end. .Nicolai was in charge and although we even had more guests than we had planned, he served an extensive menu and everything was delicious and served beautifully. The power went out temporarily due to a passing storm in Cape May but the chef and his staff contiued to manage and it all added to a wonderful evening. Nicolai was so accommodating and patient. My wife and I were recently in Cape May for a long weekend and just felt like Italian food one night. In this case I didn't check Yelp but we just took a walk to the Washington Street Mall to see what we could find. The first Italian restaurant we found was A Ca Mia. We checked the menu saw several dishes that looked interesting and wandered in. Everything was great. Contrary to other reviews our service was exceptional. Our waiter was prompt and professional. Food came to our table hot and well presented. Water and later coffee were refilled without asking. Everything tasted delicious. I had the tilapia and my wife had spaghetti Bolognese. Fantastic. I also should mention we shared a Napoleon for dessert. It was one of the best desserts I ever had. We will be back. read more

If you're strolling down the mall on Washington Street walk right by this restaurant it is overpriced and the food is awful it's hard to screw up pasta somehow or another they manage to do it. The prices are high the quality of the food poor and four dollars for Coke is off the charts. In addition, the service is only fair. read more

Let me just get straight to the point. I ordered what's on the menu was called "wild" Salmon and after they brought it to the table, it looked like a farm raised one. I can tell because I am a big fan of "Wild cought" fish. So to my greatest surprise after I asked our server to verify what kind of fish it was, he said, it was "wild" but not "wild cought". That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in my life, don't you agree? I was relieved when they offered to take it off my bill and we rushed out of this restaurant as fast as we could. Meh! Ok Italian food, with ok service in an ok setting. A bit overpriced but I guess that's typical for Cape May. I was disappointed.

All five of us found the staff rude and unprofessional especially when dealing with a life threatening food allergy. Our server snapped at us and was rude when we asked to speak to chef to ensure our daughters safety. He did bring over chefs wife who smirked and basically talked to us in a demeaning way. When we asked to just get a basic burger off lunch menu she said to get burger off dinner menu that it was the same but it was loaded with extra ingredients. . In the end our daughter ordered a plain burger but they split price between lunch and dinner to make a few bucks. Our chicken parmigiana had very little pasta and sauce was so acidic. The final negative was a server guzzled a water bottle in the middle of the dining area and proceeded to crush the bottle in his hands in front of us. read more

After walking Washington St Mall and not wanting a typical pub type fare, stopped in late evening to this byob to peruse the menu. Ended up ordering the antipasta for two. Seemed like much to the disappointment of the waiter who was looking for a larger ring on the check. Whatever. Was pleasantly surprised at the large portion containing fresh bruschetta, roasted red and yellow peppers, prosciutto, soppresata, artichoke, marinated white beans. I'd recommend this Appy highly. Worst custumer service ever. My waiter forgot my entree, another accidently hit my wife head very hard (and barely excuse itself). Then the bill included many errors that the waiter did not want to correct (neither his boss, while recognising they were mistakes). I was really in the mood for Italian so my husband and I decided to check out this place. It was really, really good. It's a lovely, romantic setting. Indoors, it's charming, dimly lit with candles on the table. Our server was delightful. Service was great. The bread basket was good, though I was confused with the "tuna butter" they served. Seemed like an odd choice for butter. We both ordered salad -- my husband the caesar salad and myself a DELICIOUS house salad with gorgonzola cheese and mini-oranges. It was really top notch in terms of salad. For entrees, my husband had the ravioli trio (mushroom, crab or lobster and cheese). It was hard to find the ravioli under all that sauce, but he said he enjoyed it. I had the shrimp scampi on linguini which was delicious. Very big, flavorful shrimp. We skipped dessert. Worth noting that this place is still BYOB. It was pricey but well worth eating there if you happen to be on the main street and want something a little special. It's next to a wonderful french pastry shop that you don't want to miss! read more

I am sitting here on Friday at 8:45 and honestly don't know why this place is half empty. The food is REALLY good, the wine is surprisingly good, and our waiter is very attentive. After having pub-style meals, pool-side fair and plenty of fried seafood over Memorial Day weekend I was in the mood for Italian. We stumbled upon this restaurant and hopped in for a quick bite. We have three kids, one of which is under a year old and the waitress could tell we were on limited time with three short attention spans. Our drinks order was taken quickly, bread was brought out quickly and the order was taken right away as. The food came out surprisingly fast as well. I ordered the lasagna after asking the waitress how it was and she said it was excellent. After ordering it I thought to myself "she's probably trained to say that for everything" and sort of regretted my order. Man was she right. It was some of the best lasagna I've had in a very long time. I'm an upstate NY Italian living on Long Island and working in NYC so I've had my fair share of Italian food so I feel pretty confident in my opinion here. My wife had a tortelloni special in a cream sauce with peas and prosciutto and that was delicious as well. Kids meals were standard. My son loved his ravioli and he and my daughter both walked away happy. All in all a great meal and a nice break from burgers and fries. Didn't seem obnoxiously priced either. Our group of 7 was promptly seated by a courteous host whose recommendation of the chicken parm was on point as it was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. This review is strictly for the bakery at A Ca Mia. I recently purchased 2 muffins and an apple fritter to bring to a friends for breakfast. I sliced the large fritter into pieces since it was big enough to share and it felt hard. I bit into it and tasted mildew and immediately spit it out. When I turned it over there were large spots of mold on it and it smelled like a dirty dish rag. I brought it back and had my money refunded and received an apology but people were in there purchasing pastries and they never bothered to remove any of the items. It had to take well over a week for a pastry to have that much mold on it. I will never return. read more

CANCEL MY RESERVATION!!!! This was the worst restaurant experience ever!!! Not sure what all these reviews are talking about, so let's address the giant elephant in the room,........DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!! Holy Cow!! The litmus test of an authentic Italian restaurant surprisingly!! Is a simple pasta with meatballs. That is what my wife and I ordered. After being seated we received our food....BEFORE OUR DRINKS ARRIVED!!! The pasta was bland and undercooked, the meatballs were.....I dont even know what they were? They were light gray in color (I know, not a good sign) anyway...the sauce! I would have been enormously happier with sauce from a jar that had gone bad!! Here's the really bad part! Yes it gets worse......I called the very bored or overworked waitress over to express my displeasure! She couldn't have cared less! She just stood there, I asked for the check...after paying the bill I asked for the manager, now in a good restaurant I would have already been met by the manager expressing their appologies before I had to ask....not here. The manager eventually came over. She was more annoyed than concerned that she had to deal with a complaint at all. I let her know how unprofessional she was especially since my wife told her that she saw her gossiping about our displeasure with two bored looking staff members. After being called out, she turned her back on me!!....hummm......hope readers get the idea. I'm from Cape May. Worked in restaurants down there and been to several over my life. Had dinner for the first time at this place last summer and loved it. Back in town this past weekend, we went again. Never going back. The food was still good, but the service was terrible. The night started with them breaking the cork in our wine. Mistakes happen, so we ignored. Had to ask for menus and bread. Our food came out about five minutes after our wine was opened. We had a later reservation, and the staff was giving us dirty looks while we finished our wine and dessert (even though there were still TWO OTHER TABLES at the place). We then overheard them calling us "rude". We decided to leave and still be polite, and what we received in return was very sarcastic responses. All of this would have been bad enough, but the worst part is that we forgot a jacket at the table in our rush to leave following their comments. We went to retrieve it the next morning, and it had mysteriously vanished. The manager and wait staff insisted that no one had seen it at the table, despite us being absolutely positive we left it there (had gone no where else that night). They offered nothing but "sorry". Speaking from someone who worked in this industry throughout high school and college, this service was awful. I recommend you don't go there, but if you do, please keep an eye out for a black jacket. read more

Was greatly disappointed when we finally dined here. Caesar Classico (salad) for two was generous in proportions but salty and not good at all... Chicken Parm was well fried but sauce was not good and it was again salty and had a funny taste that I imagine was to denote or suggest a wood oven... Ravioli Dinner was also salty -- notice a trend here? -- and the too much sauce hindered the distinction between the different fillings... bread was a bare minimum one per person but just as well as I left some of mine anyway... Wine was only sold by the bottle as far as we could determine from the Wine List and the Iced Tea was probably high quality but not a favorable taste for me... Had we gotten the Three Course Set Price meals, they would have actually been more expensive for what we ordered so we went ala carte and skipped the dessert, getting Gelati down the road at a better price and of better quality. We will not return and will not recommend A Ca Mia to anyone. read more
