We dined here twice during our stay at the Grand Cape May hotel for our son's graduation from Coast Guard basic training. The staff were welcoming and congratulatory. The food was amazing as were the drinks. Bill the manager even took the time to come over and congratulate my son and give him a card covering his dinner and desert. It really made him feel appreciated. The restaurant has a lovely and clean ambiance with views of the ocean. If you are in town for vacation or graduation as well. I highly recommend a meal or two here.

This was our first visit here for our Merry Christmas family lunch. I enjoyed my two Absolute pear vodka martinis with St. Germain, lemon and simple syrup for $16 each. I inquired with our server regarding her recommendation regarding the two burgers and the cheesesteak sandwich. She recommended the shaved rib eye cheesesteak with sauteed onions, American cheese, with a long hot pepper on the side served on an Italian roll with fries for $18. I don't recommend the cheesesteak because it was not moist and tasted very dry with no visible sauteed onions or American cheese. Overall our server served my family of seven very well. After our lunch we shopped in downtown Cape May.

Smoked salmon omelette with asparagus, onions and cheddar cheese, multi-grain toast and breakfast potatoes.

The restaurant is really nice, overlooking dunes. The service was efficient and friendly. Timing was perfect. The food was excellent! Love the creative menu. Will definitely return!

Best happy hour ever. $3 drinks and delicious small bites. I ordered the trio of fries and cheese steak egg rolls. Everything was cooked perfectly. I liked the different seasonings on the fries, and I was delighted to see that the egg rolls were an order of three. If definitely get the egg rolls again. I got to taste my brother's calamari and sirloin. Both were good. I'd need a little more seasoning on the steak though. I'll look forward to coming here next time I'm in town.

Visited Jersey Shores before the season and while weather was on the fair side. Looked for venues that obviously were open, and considering it's March, indoors! We stayed at the Grand Hotel and luckily Hemminways was located right off the lobby. I am happy to say that there were ample choices for my selection. (For a while now I've noticed that my eyes are bigger than my stomach! So much looks so good, but I find it difficult to finish.) Ordered the shrimp scampi with risotto adorned with a Crab sauce. Holy moly, that was good! Just barely finished it and skipped dessert. Dinner rolls did accompany the entree. Parking is plentiful during the off season. Prices are quite reasonable. Server was attentive and very personable. If I was in the neighborhood again, I would go back. Cape May is a lovely town that has many fine places to eat. BTW the fish on the wall we were told was (when caught) in excess of 1000 Lbs. WOW! Nice family oriented place.

The food was excellent. The service was a bit slow, but the waitress was terribly sweet.

Food was very nice. Big fish was a nice touch. Pasta was excellent. Little wait but worth it.

The atmosphere was fun and relaxed, making it the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring Cape May. I'm glad I formed my own opinion instead of relying on the reviews. I'd definitely come back. Prices, a bit regrettably, are scaled for Cape May in tourist season. While we enjoyed our lunch, dropping over $50 for our lunches plus two soft drinks was a bit more than anticipated. Still, Fins deserves more business than it appears to get. Hopefully in season it attracts it.

Service by Mickey was wonderful. She was honest, helpful, attentive, let us set the pace, and made our visit great. On to the food. We began with a cucumber, gimlet, and a Hendrix martini. Both were delicious. For appetizers, we have the deviled eggs, Heirloom tomato and melon salad, and the unbelievably delicious Parker House rolls (4 for $8). The deviled eggs ($15) were some of the best we've had but come only three halves to an order (each topped differently, duck, lobster, Cherry). The salad ($20) was OK, but honestly a little bland. I don't think I would order it again. And I highly recommend the rolls and the eggs though. For entrées, my wife had the Cape May Scallops ($49) which were fantastic. I had the duck appetizer ($32) for my entrée. The sliced duck breast was more than enough and very tasty. My only complaint was it wasn't cooked medium rare as stated, it was cooked all the way to medium, which was only a little pink. Still it was delicious. We also shared a side, the special charred snap peas ($12) - very good! No room for dessert tonight.

While the…read morekitchen and bar are clearly talented, the service and management decisions completely ruined the evening. The Positives: I have to give credit where it is due as the food and drinks were genuinely great. We ordered the calamari, celery root soup, scallops, and the chicken breast. Everything came out delicious and perfectly prepared. The drinks were also a highlight specifically the pomegranate margarita and the winter sangria. The bartender clearly knows what they are doing. The Service: Absent and Unprofessional. Unfortunately, the night took a sharp turn regarding the service. Our waitress was virtually non existent. She spent the entire night chatting with another couple, barely sparing a moment for our table outside of taking the initial order. It got to the point where the bartender had to do the waitresses job. Our drinks were sitting on the bar for quite a while until the bartender finally walked them over to us, saying, "I just wanted to drop these off so they wouldn't sit out." Later, we watched the bartender go into the back and run food to the other couple, the very table our waitress was busy socializing with, telling them he, "just wanted to bring this out so it would still be hot." The bartender was acting more like a waiter than our actual server was. Sketchy Billing & Atmosphere: Things got even stranger when the check arrived. We noticed a $24 charge for a "cheeseburger"--an item that isn't even on the menu. We flagged down the waitress, and before we could even explain the issue, she immediately said, "Oh yes, you are right, there is an error, sorry about that." It was an incredibly odd reaction; she knew there was an error before we even vocalized what was wrong. To top it off, the dining room was absolutely freezing. When we asked why, the waitress claimed the heat was broken. However, upon visiting the restroom, the heat was pumping just fine. It felt deliberate--like a corner cutting measure to save money during the off-season rather than a genuine mechanical failure. Overall: Despite the food being delicious, the terrible service, the suspicious billing "error," and the uncomfortable temperature make this a place I cannot recommend. For the price point, you expect a certain level of professionalism and comfort, and Ebbitt Room failed on both counts. I will not be returning.

The odyssey to finding it was well worth the effort. We had dinner reservations but on a Monday in May, probably did not need them. We both loved our flounder almondine order, despite it being a Monday night (when one does not typically order fish and expect it to be fresh). This really was! Service was top-notch and super-friendly from Jared, who was deeply apologetic when the oyster appetizer we ordered failed to appear - he comped a beer without prompting (and insisted upon it). Even absent this gesture, his attitude and manner made our evening - the excellence of the entrees was a cherry on top. One note and not the fault of the restaurant at all - a number of families with small children were dining at other tables. This is not an especially well-suited restaurant for families with under-5 kids. Their collective noise and behavior was more akin to, well, a Chuck-E-Cheese or MacDonalds. There was nothing anyone could do, of course.
