I had friends in town staying at a local motel. They had been here a few nights before and called and asked if I'd like to meet them for a light dinner and wine. I'm happy I did. It's a very comfortable place, well appointed with local art on the walls and wooden tables. It was a little echoey inside, but there was a lively trivia tournament going on. Mondays see happy hour all night long, so we enjoyed $5 glasses. They also have a selection of beer. The food menu was limited. We each got and shared a different empanada. They were very tasty and came with a salad. The owner stopped by to check on us a few times and she was super nice and accomodating. My out of time friends noted that there was live music when they were there before, but that it was a little too loud and maybe should have been unplugged. My wife and I have been here several times. Sometimes it's just us, but we usually go with friends. We've had a terrific time, every time. It's a friendly and casual/unpretentious place that serves very nice wine and food. It's the kind of place you can stop in for a quick glass, or spend extended time leisurely sampling different wines and cheeses. Beth has successfully created a place that has a sense of community. Judging from her thoughtful (and humble) responses to various Yelp reviews, it's clear she aims to please and wants people to enjoy their experience. Would I suggest driving e great distances to visit the AGITF? Probably not. But if you live in (or near) Pacifica or are in the area, stop in for a flight! read more

I have been here a few times. Every time, I have never received good service, but the wine selection is decent and the cook is amazing.( If he had is own yelp page, he would receive 5 stars alone.) So, after finding a wine to my liking, I went back and ordered it again and it was served in a champagne flute. I spent $14 on Malbec. I could have asked her to fix the problem, but it took 10 minutes to be noticed, 20 minutes to order, another 10 minutes to receive our order and 5 minutes to finish my glass of wine. I could understand if it was busy, but the woman who was helping us, was chatting with one table a majority of the time. I think I was just annoyed at that point and want to leave. Can't wait to try more. * Entertainment - also worthy of checking on their site. A jazz band started up as we were leaving, and they were so good, we statyed a bit longer to enjoy. The first time I went I wasn't impressed. I think it was because they had just opened and the staff didn't know what they could and could not offer us...something to do with hummus being 1/2 one kind and 1/2 the other...it was awkward. This last time i went (The second time), the place was a lot more lively. The girl who served us was a lot more bubbly and accommodating. It was nice. i wish there was something a little more substantial to eat and snack on though. I am going to go a third time and if it goes well i will amend my review. I am always proud of local "mom and pop" businesses and want to support them, especially if they are a place to be social and have a glass of wine with a friend. read more

I came here for New Year's with Mike and Tala and had a pretty great time. All the people who work here are really nice and friendly. The alcohol, both the mixed drinks and the wine we had are great. There's a patio in the back too where you can relax which I did on that cold night but I can absolutely imagine on a nice warm day it's got to be really nice. read more

Salud to Grape in the Fog! Pacifica has come along way, baby! (I used to live here for years and love it!.) Yes, this place is a bit pricey (hello? I know, wine bar.), but not pretentious. :D Also, the portions of cheese, olives, marcona almonds...etc..are more plentiful than in SF. The shrimp etouffe last night was fabulous and their pre-fixed menu on Weds are worth every penny. Live music a plus! Great service! Great patrons! A very quaint, small town place that is a lot of fun to visit. I've been here on several occasions. The wine selection is limited, so if you are picky about wine, you could be disappointed. It's always the same thing - regardless of the quality of the food/wine/whatever, the manner in which it is delivered can leave a bitter taste in your mouth. My group was never greeted, the woman who took our order (elizabeth) pawned off the order onto another waiter who was not aware of the hand off. 15 minutes later after trying to get one of their eyes, we finally were given wine by the initial lady. She didn't know what wine we were drinking, and didnt know what the Arnies varietal was. How do you work at a wine bar and not know wine. We left promptly after 1 glass to go drink somewhere else. Employees make or break your place, and when you aren't dedicating your efforts and sincere attention to the manner in which your employees behave and operate you are guaranteeing failure and ensuring zero new customer loyalty. read more

I've been wanting to stop by here for a little over a month or so. On Saturday March 19th, my husband and I stopped by because I read on AGITF website and via emails that a blues band was playing (I actually thought it was a jazz band) nonetheless, It was a very pleasant change of pace for me. My girlfriend and I happened upon GITF on one of our Sunday adventures up the coast. Not wanting anything heavy before our anniversary dinner and wanting to get out of the cold, GITF provided that cozy, romantic, and classy atmosphere to try some new wines and enjoy some delicious scones at more than a reasonable price. We were happily surprised by some early afternoon jazz and familiar board games to play between tastings. After driving by this place a million times, I finally decided it was time to stop in, and was glad I did. The music may have been a touch too loud (and all those hard surfaces don't help with noise), but the atmosphere was, overall, quite nice, the staff was friendly, and the wine good. I had a nice petit syrah and a plate of meatballs, followed by a slice of cake. The service was a bit slow (especially for a slow Wednesday evening), but we were in no hurry, and everyone was so friendly it would have felt wrong to complain. What a great little find on the coast! A GITF offers a very nice list of undiscovered wines and yummy little nibbles too. I had two glasses - both CA producers, a Merlot and a remarkable Cabernet blend. We shared a cheese plate and olives. My friend ordered the scones which were quite tasty although she was a bit disappointed they didn't have any butter to go with them? In any case, I'm all about wine, so I was ever so pleased. Pacifica has bars, but until this there wasn't a relaxed place to sip wine and hang out. Grape in the Fog has a nice but casual feeling and is developing a local community. I don't understand these "I didn't know where to sit" comments. No one told me where to sit either, but the feeling I had was that the front of the place and the back have different vibes and they want you to pick your own spot where you are comfortable. There wine is excellent and earns it two stars. But we also ordered food. The empanadas we ordered were ok, which is the best I can say. The rest of the food we ordered we were told would take 5 min. Well we waited 30 min before I finally said something. I'm not normally one to complain. They said the order never went through and they just put it in so it would be another 20 min. We decided not to go through with the order and they gave us the bill. They didn't give us any compensation for their mistake or the time they wasted. First and foremost my 3 star rating is not a negative review, just some incentive for the ya ya sister hood over there at the "little wine bar that could" to keep stepping it up. I am going t keep this review to the bullets primarily because its more fun that way. - like little Bambi taking his (yes folks Bambi was and still is a boy) feeble wobbly first steps my first experience at AGITF was shaky, staff who was extremely and attentive but winging it on the wine knowledge was offering some pretty random vino on the list and very little knowledge to back it up. This was when they first opened so no worries on the shaky legs... -a few weeks later an adept young woman who I later find out is the manager pulls the rug out from my unsuspecting taste buds when given the order to put together a custom flight for my high maintenance pallet...with a little confidence and sass thrown in, probably one of the best combinations of wine I have had together, served in the correct order no less...GO BAMBI GO!! -a couple of months pass there are amazing food type smells coming from the back bar, whoa! A dude man on the premises!! Gumbo! Gumbo!!! Vino!!Music?!! Giants Baseball?!! All of my favorite things under one roof. I have to run out and check the highway sign to make sure I am still in Pacifica....Oh My little Bambi how you have grown into a nice young man!! -I am a semi regular patron by now.....and this is actually a 4 star review, cuz Bambi to get that fifth star you are going to have to show me those buck horns!!! read more

Great ambiance, wine, service and it's by the beach. The bar server (and the owner I believe ) was very sweet and knowledgable. Happy hour everyday is a plus and a nice back patio. So go watch the sunset at Rockaway Beach then take a short walk to this little gem. read more

We finally got out to a Grape in the Fog last Wednesday. Friends of ours have been telling us about this place for weeks! Although it's not large, it's nicely laid out with local artwork. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. We had a nice pour of an old vine zinfandel at a reasonable price, and enjoyed the mellow music of an acoustic guitarist. As the early evening wore on, the place got packed - then Belly Dancers appeared! It was Asia and Arabesque - I've seen their fantastic show at Fog Fest for a number of years in a row. This time there was a number of rockin' drummers, and 2 dancers: a sassy sword dancer and Asia herself (she blew me away when she danced on top of wine glasses!). Our waitress said Arabesque does this once a month. This place is sweet any time just to enjoy the ambience and the wine; I think I'll definitely come back to see more belly dancers! read more

I often come here with my handsome date and we always have the best time. When isn't wine and a cheese platter a good idea? They have a wonderful selection and the pairing recommendations never fail. Seating is very comfortable, they are dog friendly and I never see anyone NOT having a great time here. Love it when we actually remember to make it on a live music night. Ending the night with a slice of their double chocolate cake with the recommended port, is a must! read more

Hmmm....we wandered in today during a leisurely drive up the coast. To be honest, I kinda wasn't all that impressed. Which surprised me considering all the great reviews. The bar itself is way cute, and set up in a cozy welcoming manner. It's clean and organized and has a nice homey atmosphere. But the wines were just kinda...meh. I tried the chard on happy hour special, but it was kinda gross. So I went with the bartender's suggestion after I told her what kinds of chards I like (big oak, smooth, buttery). At first sip, I thought it was alright (Storrs I think it's called) but the more I drank it, the less appealing it got. Had a sharp edge to it, much like a cheap table wine. Oh well, you win some and you lose some. My husband wasn't all that thrilled with his selections either - a red on special and another French blend that smelled and tasted like vinegar to me. On the up side though, the cheese plate was delicious and beautifully presented so thumbs up for that! One thing that kinda struck me as weird was that a group of people who obviously knew the owner came in and would just walk into the bar area and open wine fridges, grab menus, poke around, and just generally help themselves to stuff as if they owned the place too. Seemed kinda disrespectful to me, but the owner didn't seem to care. read more

It really was not that great. Walked into the door, kind of confused as to whether we were to seat ourselves, or what. Was only greeted with a short "Hi" and then were left alone. It took a little bit of standing there awkwardly before I went up and spoke with one of the people who worked there. The place is a bit cramped, and the table we sat at was difficult to get in and out of. Glasses of sparkling wine were a tad expensive and the food and cheese choices were very limited. We got a plate of cheese, with crackers, and salami, and it was not something to write home about. I think I could have bought a couple bottles of wine, crackers, cheese, and salami at Safeway for less than what we ended up paying, and we probably would have been happier! read more

Don't go on comedy night. Was told by an older comedian lady to be quite and move after we didn't tip her and she doesn't even work there. She wanted us to move to the front, but we were a party of four and there were no four tops towards the front. The only place we could fit is at the bar and there was no room. We weren't even being rude or loud and we would have tipped if we knew if was going to be comedy night but all we had were debit cards. Anyways, we deiced to leave after that and went to Nicks and had a much better time. I would never opt to going here again. read more
