AGIF is what a great little local wine bar should be. + Lot's of local wines without giving up on other fine wines you would like to try. + Little eats to buffer it all. (cheese plates and such) + A totally nice location. While it's not a beach view, the hillside isn't bad at all. And the beach is withing a 1 minute walk. + Warm interior you can feel comfortable to relax in for an hour or two. + Events of various sorts to entertain (music, BD, and such) + A good place for conversation without other interruptions. + great care about the people who visit. You'll always feel comfortable with yourself and the others who frequent this place. My first two visits were good enough to give them five stars right away. read more

We have been coming to this spot for a while now and this place is awesome. Beth, the owner is really cool and she makes you feel right at home. Even when she is not present you still feel at home because her employees are just as nice. Beth incorporates Wine with a Tapas menu and it's like you are eating a home cooked meal. A Wonderful Addition to the Pacifica/HMB Coast Side! A friend of us introduced to this new wine bar this past weekend and we really enjoyed the place. The place gives nice cozy home like feeling with various sections in the place so you have nice sense of privacy when you sit down with a group of friends or family. It is a perfect stop after a busy working day in San Francisco or after getting a big dinner in the city and wind down before heading home in the Pacifica-Half Moon Bay Coast Side! The people behind the counter are really friendly and helpful. In addition to wine, there are some good selection of Belgian beer and even some Chocolate Truffles. We do like wine but sometimes we do reach for beer and Chocolates can go well with Cabs and Syrah. They have just opened so I am sure they are building up more into their wine list and additional food menu items as they find what people like in Pacifica. Couple of Suggestions: We did not even know this place existed. You need more visibility from Hwy 1! One of the only wineries located near the beaches- A Grape In The Fog offers a variety of reds, whites, and sparkling wines. They have great Happy Hour deals ($5 for select wines, $2 off for a slice of their decadent chocolate cake, etc). My friend and I got 2 white varietals- a Sauvignon blanc and Pinot Grigio. They were both fairly crisp and had nice, rich fruit undertones. However, it was nothing to rave about. I also decided to get the lavender & sugar marcona almonds, which was okay, but tasted more like sugar than lavender. I felt like this was more of a local joint and we didn't seem to get the type of service that other patrons were receiving. However, we still had an okay experience- they have chalk on the table for you to play games on the wall. My friend and I had fun playing hangman and tic-tac-toe. I think we would've had a better time if we came here to get a bottle before the beach. Tip: First Sundays of each month- local artist, Bray, performs covers and original songs. Walked in said hi picked up menu and the lady ignored me and my significant other. There was one other person in there. She walked right by us and ignored my 2nd hello I told her she was extremely rude before I walked out.Went to another establishment and the locals told me they have a reputation for refusing service to people they seem unworthy...which happen to be people of color In this case. Tried to call the manager and I've got nothing back what a surprise. As a big yelper I'm going to make sure I let everyone know this is a waste of time space and apparently the food disappoints too. Delicate plates. Spanish sparkling wine. Smooth jazz. Is there anything better than this? The mushroom empanadas was fresh and flavorful, and the side tomato was so tasty that I ordered two extra dishes. Tender brie cheese and aged balsamic vinegar went perfectly on the toast. Was supper early for our dinner reservation and we just happened to stumble upon this little gem! Great local wine bar in Pacifica. It's tucked away in a plaza of shops by Rockaway Beach, and there is a good amount of parking nearby on the street and lots. I tried the Mori Melts app/light bite and it was delicious, and only $5! One order comes with six pieces of baguettes covered with Pacifica Mori Jack cheese and marinated tomato. Simple but worth a taste! Other food items I'd like to try include the Baked Brie Fondue, cheese plate, and meatball skillet. For drinks, I tried the Sparkling Rosé and Cava Brut. The rosé was light and fresh and one of my favorites I've had so far. I'll go back and try the Sauvignon Blanc as well - they actually have two varieties to choose from. They have quite a few wines available by the glass for under $10, which is nice to see compared to some of my favorite wine bars in SF. The ambiance is very warm and relaxed with several tables and a bar to sit at, plus live music playing in the back corner. The staff was glad to make recommendations and check on our order if I we had questions. The place is cute but think twice if you have any questions about the wine or cheese. For me, going to a wine bar is an experience where I can enjoy and learn about wine and possibly cheese. I asked the server to explain one of the foreign wines before serving it to me and she couldn't compare it to anything. When served the 3 cheeses, the types and where they were from was not clear.... I may sound snobby but I have some expectations when I go out and plan on spending good money. I would suggest that the staff learn the products they are selling. Then, almost everything would be great! An added plus would be if the tasting trio was more flexible on the menu. There are only a few options. They should allow the customer to mix and match a variety of wines to taste, as their overall selection is great. Also, the empanadas and polenta was pretty delicious. read more

Attended a "fauxpening" tonight and was told authoritatively there will be a soft-soft-opening April 24th. They're still fleshing out the interior rear area and will continue to do so for a little while so be patient for the grand opening. This is likely going to be the nicest place in Pacifica. There are _rumors_ about adding a small selection of genuinely good beers and a range of food to the well-received wine offerings, timing still TBD. I'm especially looking forward to the beer to augment the nice wine list. No matter what, this is going to be an extremely nice place to hang out, so I'll absolutely be back!! read more

The owner is so, so lovely! She greeted us as we walked in and let us choose our table. We each had a glass of Zinfandel and picked the chocolate cake for our dessert. The cake was AMAZING! Excellent service, great food, and generous pours! My fiancé and I had a great time stopping here on our little weekend getaway.

The 3 stars is just for the wine, they do have a good international wine selection. However, the service was less than average. We had a server who was polite but after we received our wine tasting glasses and appetizer we were on our own. There was a white, short, red haired guy, who went table after table saying hi to everyone and asking about their service except for us. Not sure if he didn't like that we were speaking Spanish or if he was just plain rude. The place does not have any diversity, any whiter and it would be Poland. The appetizer was underwhelming. We ordered a hummus and pita bread plate and extra cost for vegetables, and the vegetables were mainly lettuce, which is awful for San Francisco with all the farmers markets here. We liked the wine and if we had a better service could have purchased several bottles, but instead, we left, came home and had our own wine fest with the wines we brought from the wine country a couple of weeks ago. My husband and I, Latinos, Vegan and Spanish as native language, won't be back, we don't think this place cares to cater to us. read more

I hate giving negative Yelp reviews but after my experience at this wine bar a few months ago, I am astonished that it has such high reviews. I feel the reviews are misleading as the best quality of this wine bar is the location. If you've ever been to a fine wine bar previously, prepare to be disappointed. The service was slow but friendly. I was here on a Saturday and saw two servers total but only one at any given time (I think they were exchanging breaks?)...in any case having two servers on a 70 degree Saturday @ 4 PM in Pacifica seems severely understaffed. We had a couple of appetizers and both were really actually quite good but slow again as the servers were also the only ones preparing the food...The wine was also enjoyable but we were given zero explanation or review of anything was served other than "Here's the wine you ordered". This place could be greatly improved with adequately staffed servers who have more knowledge on the wines and/or time to tell you about their wines & food at the very least. read more

Worst service ever. We reserved ahead for a large group, telling them that we would be ordering food. One hour after ordering a lot of us had still not gotten our food. When I asked, they just said "we're working on it". An hour and a half after ordering, some of the group finished and had to leave. I still didn't have any food. I finally told them to forget about it and paid for my drink and left starving. No apology, and they didn't offer to take anything off the bill. This is a pretty chill and very unpretentious wine bar, well-suited to the casual, cozy Rockaway beach vibe. And it is fast becoming a favorite leisurely afternoon chatting spot for us. Replete with a varied but not daunting wine list, they've introduced me to several new favorites (Lawson's pinot gris being the current swell swill). They change their tasting flights, which is a great way to try several wines to determine what you like. (Though we can't help from snickering uncomfortably when we order the "white flight" a la movin' to the 'burbs in the 1950's.) Recently, I spotted the Elderflower infused Cava, which unfortunately, they've been out of the last two times we came by. Wine prices are reasonable. Food prices are less so. (Of course we still usually do get a wimpy cheese plate when we come.) Sometimes they play Beck. Sometimes there's live music. Always, there's friendly service, fresh flowers on the tables and a welcoming atmosphere. read more

It is so lovely to have a place like this in Pacifica. I think Beth is well on her way to creating something really special. I had been absolutely dying to try this place since I heard that it would be opening soon (about a month ago), and now that they are in their soft opening phase I managed to make my way their on Friday night. It was worth the wait. Keep in mind things are still evolving here, so over the next few months I expect things to change a bit, but that's not a bad thing. The room feels inviting, so they are off to an excellent start. I sampled a very nice Malbec, my date tried a Cab, we were both pleased with our choices. The food menu is very limited at this point, but Beth tells me she is working with a chef to expand the offerings, I look forward to seeing what they come up with. One thing that's funny, to get to the bathroom you have to go outside and across the walk way to the bathroom that is shared by several of the businesses in the vicinity. It's nice and clean, which is good, but there is a shower head sticking out of the wall next to the sink. You know I had to mess with the tap to see if it really worked. It does. No, I didn't spray myself! I guess it's for the surfers who frequent the beach which is just steps away, but still, it amused me. Anyway, back to the bar, I can't wait to see how they grow and change over the coming months, I can certainly see myself whiling away a cold, foggy evening here. read more

The Time: Friday night. The Place: Pacifica California; a quiet little coastal town sheltered in what appeared to be an endless expanse of fog. I was thirsty for something...but not the same old fizzy fountain drinks from Taco Bell. No, I wanted something classier than that. When I walked in, I liked what I saw. The place was definitely nicer than Taco Bell, though admittedly without the 89 cent tacos. What can I say? A girl can't. have. everything. I ordered a glass of wine, cinnabar. I looked up from my glass and caught the eyes of a buxom redhead. "Do you come here often," I inquired. Somehow I knew that she and I would be leaving together. She looked at me, pondering my question or my sanity. "Well, they've only just opened dollface." Her eyes told me what her words did not. Grand opening still to come, she had seen fit to visit before. But why?! Just then, I looked up to find a sassy brunette drawing nearer. She asked if she could join us and I consented, keeping my beverage in full view. I'd seen her type before. After polite conversation, another glass of wine and a bowl of mixed nuts we had to move on. The girls had an insatiable appetite...for Mexican food. An appetite that would send us far from the fog but not, regrettably to Taco Bell. ********************************* So...um, this place is cute. This place is new. I think they could use a few other small bites on the menu and the back could do with some loungier couchier furniture. Came in on a Sunday afternoon during happy hour as an artist reception was taking place. We wanted to love this place and make it a regular spot. Couldn't have felt more unwelcome. Bad attitude and vibe was immediate and so obvious. Felt as though the servers were cordial at best and so forced, as if we were inconveniencing them. Wine was good. Had a red wine flight and found a great cab. Empanadas were good but small for $5 each and the free salad that we were encouraged to order in place of the entree salad we "wanted "turned out to be $3! One last toast before leaving as the server reached under our toasting hands to grab the check n money ... Nice touch. We left the meager change $2+ n skipped adding anything more for a decent tip. This is a fun little spot in Pacifica to get wine with a girlfriend. There is a little patio with twinkle lights in the back. The farmer's market meets on the street right out front so parking was a little limited when I went, but we were able to squeeze in. They have a small but delicious menu of small snacks to enjoy with your wine. I enjoyed the plate of assorted cheeses and the flavored popcorn. Wine is mostly local choices with some variety. I got a white wine flight while my friend got a red wine flight. Happy Hour is pretty great. They have $5 glasses of wine and $3 snacks.
