Well OUCH is how I feel about my experience with Hertz Car Rental by the New Orleans Convention Center area. My boyfriend and I got a car rental for a quick road trip while we were in town. We reserved a car with Hertz, but on the day of pick up, we ran into all sorts of issues. Starting off the reservation for associated with the credit card, and my boyfriend's credit card was recently reissued so the card paying for the reservation is no longer available. Credit cards change so often, it is archaic to associate a reservation with a credit card and not the person who paid for it. To add insult to injury, the employee was like YOU have to call the reservation line and they MIGHT just change your CC on file OR cancel and rebook your reservation. Ugh, bro what can't you do it? So UNHELPFUL!! While we were dialing the reservation line, the staff was checking their cell phones and laughing with each other making jokes. Very unprofessional and unhelpful. So we had to call the reservation line blah blah blah, delay our travels. Then wait for the next available associate again. At this time they are asking for a bunch of random information like our personal insurance policy. I'm thinking who remembers that stuff off hand. Ask me ahead of time... but apparently you aren't even required to give it to them. This is a method for tricking the naïve and trying to upsell. Thennnnnn we also paid for a full take of gas... but by the time we took their key, go up 4 flights of stairs on the parking garage, get to the scratched up car, the car was almost empty. To be precise it was 55 miles to empty. So more time wasted is added to our timeline to go get gas immediately after to begin our adventure. The Toyoya Corolla Cross was decently clean looking but I still wiped it down with disinfecting wipes. It was spacious for 2 people but not too comfortable to sit in. The delays caused by Hertz included the time calling the reservation line and also added time to go get gas. It literally caused me to miss one of the attractions I was most looking forward to during my visit, since we got back to town later than anticipated towards the end of the day. Returning the car was less bad, but just another hassling driving up their tiny garage and in the afternoon there was only one person working, so it was slowwwwwwwwwww to check out once again. I hate leaving bad reviews... but if you look at all of the reviews... anyone who had a decent experience was more of an exception and a sh*t experience is the norm. During the multiple waits I was there, other customers had a bunch of issues too. Save yourself time, money and hassle and book a car from someone else.

But I will say, definitely make an appointment and call before you come to remind them so that they have a car ready for you if you want it to be timely. Two out of 3 times we have had no issues with the actual car we've rented. Once it smelled of cigarette so bad that we had to ask for a different one. The staff is kind, efficient and seem to handle everything professionally. There is ample parking, in a safe lot next to a busy tire place. There is a customer bathroom, a wating area and is wheelchair accessible.

I didn't put a single ding in it and I did my best to avoid the infinite number of potholes in the roads around here. It rode like a tank and drove like a tank. The biggest challenge was actually getting into it! My wife is a strong tough sweet cookie as she climbed up there no problemo! It's high off the ground! I on the other hand, suffering with sciatica pain, had to experiment until I found a way to use my left foot and leg to climb up. Once I figured that out, life in a jacked up massive heavy duty truck land was good!
