    Delicious clam chowder
    Laurie P.

Found this place along the St Clair River and decided to stop in. It's not fancy, but it's got a relaxed vibe, and a great view of passing freighters from their deck. I love that, that's all I needed that day - a cold beer and a chill place to kick back. I wasn't super hungry when I stopped, so I just ordered some clam chowder and a side of fries. Both items were very good. Prices are very reasonable, too. It's so effing expensive to dine out anymore, so I'm happy when I find a place like this. Service was prompt and friendly, no issues there either. If you're in the area, it's worth a stop especially if you like to see freighters like I do :)

Great location , right on the water. We sat outside and watched the boats come in for lunch and ship off again. Best Long Island I've ever had, but the 2cnd wasn't as good. We both had fish sandwiches. (Grouper and perch). Very good. Looks like it could have fun night life as they had a stage. Liked it and will come back when we are out in the area

A cute lil dive bar on the water. The service was good. We just went to have a couple drinks but ordered some fries too. I really love the outdoor area on the water. The deck looks nice and I look forward to going back to eat out side soon.

It's the Algoma Innovator. Perfect end to a great day

We had a great meal here, fried perch all around, some great appetizers. The poor bartender who was the wait staff and the bartender really had to run around, but did it with style and grace and a sense of humor. We would return here in the future. I especially liked the fact that she called the ship and timed it to go by while we were sitting dock side finishing our dinner. ;)

Looking at all the reviews are from years ago! My mom and I were driving by and decided to stop and give them a try. We were looking for a place right on the water since it was so nice out. And by right on the water I mean we sat on boat docks, such an amazing experience! Nothing more then your normal dive bar with bar food but being able to site outside was a huge win!

View from our seats on the patio.

Tried this place for the first time tonight since my family and I were in the area. Place is kind of hard to find. Sign is off the road but the restaurant is right off the water. My family and I sat outside on the patio on one of the last few warm nights of the summer. I loved that the table and chairs were outdoor patio furniture. Very homey! The view of the water was very pretty. Was nice to watch boats drive by. I ordered the Turkey Bacon Melt, minus tomato and onion. It came on a fresh ciabatta bun. Loved that all the sandwich was piping hot. Bun was very fluffy and bacon was perfect. Not too chewy and not too crispy. Lots of flavor. I tried the french fries and they were one of the best I ever had. Freshly seasoned and homemade. Large portion of fries when you order an entree. An additional $1.50 when you make your sandwich a deluxe with fries or cole slaw. Service could have been a lot better. Not many people dining in and service was slow. Food took awhile but tasted delicious when it finally arrived. Inside dinning had plenty of tables, a bar, keno, and a jukebox. Lots of TV's as well. Women's bathroom is tiny!! You are kissing the door when trying to do your business. I'm warning you. I have a tiny frame and am small and my knee's were touching the door. Also, sink is after the stalls. Kinda weird.

Lightly Breaded Grouper Sandwich with Fries

Love their outdoor seating! We got their grouper sandwich, which was cooked perfectly & their Caesar salad with blackened shrimp which was also yummy. Service was fine & our food was cooked perfect. Only negative comment I have is the women's bathrooms. Very tiny stalls; something I'd be extremely leery of using if I was consuming LOTS of drinks & had to use more than once! Looking forward to going back to try something different.

We had a nice meal here. Perch was lightly fried and fresh. Good beer selection. Great view and good service.

Food was awful. Server was MIA. Management is abrasive.I was thinking the new management would be a plus for this place. Not so.

Stop every time we come to the Algonac region. The food is 'ok', but the river view is wonderful.

I've travelled quite a bit to Sarnia on business. I've heard from local colleagues that I should try Halibut House Fish and Chips. What drew me was the fact that they served haddock as one of the fish, and I have had fond memories of haddock fish fry. My colleague and I went there the other night and we really enjoyed our dinners. Both of us tried the haddock (and I also tried the cod which was also excellent). I loved the accompanying cole slaw which was not mayonnaise based, but vinegar based. The fish was a very large portion. It was not greasy (because they fried it at a high temperature), and it was flavorful. Lots of other places don't pay much attention to frequent change out of their fryer oils which take on a bitter taste and will be imparted to the food. That's because the structure of oil has changed from their use. This was not an issue at Halibut House. I didn't notice any after-taste. My compliments to the crew for paying attention to these details. The batter was very light and it complemented the fish, which was very fresh. As the frequency of my travel there is increasing, they can count on my future visits.

The food went downhill from there. I ordered the fried perch. I got two and a half, yes, a half, filet of perch. When I questioned it, the waitress said they weigh the fish and two and a half fillets were 4 oz. The fillets were only 2 inches Long! There is no way that two and a half fillets was 4 oz. My husband ordered the ribs, they were dry and chewy. My friend ordered the smashburger which was severely overcooked. Her husband ordered the chicken kabobs. They were the best food we received that day, but the taziki sauce was just tartar sauce. The atmosphere and view are awesome. So maybe consider going there for drinks and appetizers. Seems like the food is hit or miss. Ours was definitely a miss.

I know they were busy but someone should at least say hello and we'll be right with you. After they seated the group before us, we were given a table outside fairly quickly and we had a nice view! I ordered the Blackjack Smashburger and it had amazing flavors - pepper jack, cheddar, bacon, and candied jalapenos served on a brioche bun with a side of chipotle mayo. I would definitely order it again. I would recommend Junction Buoy and would eat there again.
