This place is a curious vibe! When you walk in - the decor is covered by pink young girly products, small youthful chairs and tables and a chandelier. I thought we were a bit out of place but then, they put on 90s alternative (did they guess my age and favorite band??!!). We were greeted enthusiastically by a young and joyous staff who was more than happy to have us try lots of fun flavors. I went with the lemon ginger sorbet pint, my husband orange sorbet pint. My lemon ginger would have been less bitter and the ginger was a little bit too prominent. My husband also said his sorbet could have been less bitter. I would return in hope of trying other dairy free or frozen yogurt flavors but not sure I would buy any of the other pricey products. read more

Cute shop with a decent amount of suiting- whole room for kids. When I went wasn't crazy so busy but still tons of places to sit and enjoy. Ice cream was really good- enjoyed coffee/chocolate mix. Good service and good quality. Recommend read more

As a girl who as a peanut/treenut allergy this place is incredible! They're loud and proud about their no nuts and it's posted on their door and it's also a nut free environment. Inside is very kid friendly and a pleasantly decent size. Great ice cream selection, also have other options like sorbet. Have a freezer with ice cream you can buy prepackaged for home. Also sell kids clothes. The "wired" was 10/10 The " mint chip" 6.8/10 I can't remember what I paid but it was not pricey in my opinion for a large cup and 2 flavors read more

Simply the best! We truly appreciate the options for our nut allergy/celiac teenager and we enjoy our ice cream there as well. I had the pink sprinkle this trip, my teen had the chocolate. There are gluten free cone options as well. We were even able to pick up some Vermont Nut Free chocolates for a treat later this week. Please train your workers. My family came here for ice cream today. And upon getting a Boylan Seltzer and asking for ice in a cup, I was served dry ice which I haven't had much experience with. I thought it was ice that entertains kids so was safe considering it's a kid themed ice cream shop. But my husband quickly warned me it may be dry ice and it may be dangerous to consume, and at that moment the manager saw and took the cup. I normally wouldn't write a bad review. But a little spooked I did research and saw that ingesting dry ice can be fatal. If it weren't for my husband and the manager, I could've literally died in front of my kid and family. Now imagine that happening to a kid who wouldn't know better. That's why I'm writing this review. Again please train your employees on safety handling of dry ice and consider not putting it next to actual ice or anything that is consumable. read more

Cute casual cream shop in midtown to bring kids to. Lots of flavors and delicious ice cream. Staff are also very friendly and gave my nephew a balloon. I only wish this place was open a little bit later so I could grab ice cream here for myself after dinner! read more

Delicious ice cream. The big 2 scoops are shareable. I had the chocolate and wired (coffee) flavors. From outside, I wouldn't have noticed it was an ice cream store. Sometimes, there are strollers parked outside. It has a separate room for kids parties. There's a few tables to sit inside, but ice cream can be eaten anywhere. The staff are really nice and friendly. I was able to try a few flavors before picking the 2. read more

Love this place!! For people who love amazing ice cream + if you or family members have allergies, this is the spot to go! One person there said they went for the 2nd time in the day bc their kids have nut allergies. The server was so patient with the large group i went with. Great service! The store is clean, has some tables and has some toys for sale in case you're with kids. The speed bump flavor was absolutely amazing and the marshmallows don't have gelatin in it too. Everyone enjoyed. I would 11/10 recommend!! read more

A La Mode Shoppe has some fantastic ice cream at an extremely reasonable price- what is not to love? The employees and owner are also amazing and very patient (especially with my mom who basically wanted to try every flavor since she couldn't make up her mind). We had the espresso flavored ice cream with chocolate chips in addition to what I believe was a salted caramel. Needless to say, it was great. I plan on visiting A La Mode after any Broadway show I go to- how can I not? It's worth the walk all the way to the east side versus any gelato place in the Theater District if you ask me! And there is nothing wrong with supporting local businesses with great quality ice cream :). read more

passed by here for years and finally came in for the first time and had one of the best ice cream/dessert experiences of my life. it was so indulgent... i regret not coming here sooner. a few caveats? after the first few bites of the chocolate, i noticed a lack of unctuous richness (not a bad thing). the texture was still silky smooth and all the flavors popped, so I still loved it. i only learned afterwards this has no egg, hence why i think it lacked that distinct fattiness ice cream usually has. also, ice cream usually has a more fluffy, chewy texture which this did not have (again not a bad thing). the one unfortunate thing is that this ice cream contains a lot of stabilizers and as someone who makes ice cream at home occasionally, this is kind of seen as a no no, but I honestly could not care less whats in it, as long as it tastes amazing. i could not pick up any off flavors whatsover and if you had told me there were like 5 ingredients in it i would have believed you because of how clean it tasted. i would actually describe this more as a gelato than ice cream. even though there is no true definition and distinction between the two, i feel like in a general sense, gelato is seen as more 'clean', where the flavors of the ingredients are highlighted more, less richness, and smoother in texture. all of which this ice cream has. regardless, this is a 5/5 product. i'll be coming back regularly to try all their flavors. read more

Amazing little shop with a very cool concept -- it's a small shop for kids with toys and lots of cool ice cream flavors. There are a lot of very specific ice cream flavors, such as dairy free flavors, etc. that make the place great for kids with allergies. I got one scoop of the rose ice cream and it was FANTASTIC! I didn't want to try any flavors in store bc COVID, so I was worried that the rose flavor would be too subtle or there would be too much artificial flavoring/ sugar; however, my fears were unfounded. The ice cream was creamy and had a strong rose flavor -- 1 scoop was definitely not enough! Would highly recommend this small little shop for your ice cream cravings and will definitely be back to try their other flavors! read more

We just happened to park right in front of this cute Parisian style ice cream shop the other day and we had to go in. From the outside it looks like a quaint Parisian cafe with their cute tables and pink & white striped awnings. Upon entering you see the cutest kid friendly ice cream shop with way more to choose from than just ice cream. Tons of cute kids toys and clothing and they even have balloons. We were then really interested to hear that they serve completely allergy free ice cream - no nuts, no sesame and no eggs. They are also carried in grocery stores so check your local freezers! The flavors are so cute and interesting in bright colorful shades - not to mention delicious. And their spoons and straws change colors with temperature. Adorable! We LOVE visiting A La Mode Shoppe! Having peanut and tree nut allergies, it can be really difficult to find a place that is truly safe to enjoy. A La Mode Shoppe takes out the worry and allows its customers with nut allergies to just enjoy ordering an ice cream cone (something that I think a lot of people take for granted if they never had to worry about cross contamination or allergens). They have a wide range of ice cream and sorbet flavors plus a few tables inside and outside. What is most important to know is that A La Mode Shoppe is more than an ice cream shop, it is a place where families are making memories. (Our family included) Note: They are busy and may be closed for a party so be sure to check if they are open. A few times we have had to rearrange our schedule but we have never left NYC without being able to enjoy a scoop of ice cream from them. Thank you, A La Mode! read more

Off-to-the-side ice cream shoppe offering some interesting flavors. Was uneasy walking in by myself as the entire place felt more like a kids play store than an ice cream parlor. Thankfully no one else was inside on a Friday afternoon, so was able to quickly make a selection and leave. Decided on the 2-Scoop option with a waffle cone ($6ish altogether). After getting a breakdown of the available flavors, opted for the Wired (coffee ice cream with chocolate chips) and Sea Salt Caramel scoops. Ice cream is certainly fresh, since the whole thing started melting as soon as it was handed over. Love the flavor in the sea salt caramel - delivering on that salty sweet punch. The gobs of caramel could have been mixed in better. The "Wired" scoop has a strong coffee flavor, and a nice texture balance with the chocolate chips. Again, if there was an event going on here, I probably would have kept walking. Would like to see a few more ice cream options, but overall a good place for a sweet treat on the go. read more

Small place with about 5 or 6 tables and a party room for kids. There was also a cute shop with t-shirts and toys. This place is like a dream come true for any child with a nut allergy. I don't really understand the high ratings for its place. Yes the ice cream is good, but really nothing out of the ordinary. We tried the: -Speed bump - tasted like generic chocolate ice cream (2/5) -Salted caramel - this one was pretty good, though by no means, amazing (3.5/5) -Strawberry sorbet - this was good; tasted like every other strawberry sorbet (no rating as I think pretty much all strawberry sorbets taste the same) The interior was cute. Some of the ice cream flavors seem imaginative. But peel paste the facade and its just an OK ice cream shop. read more

Such a terrible experience here tonight after we took our daughter out for some post-pizza ice cream as a special treat for being a trooper after a long drive. Sure, it's kind of cute inside, but the music is SUPER LOUD. Oh, maybe that's why the two guys working messed up our order THREE different times. First, one didn't hear the other make our daughter's cone, so they had to redo that. Then they got the flavors wrong on one cup and had to redo do that and then they forgot the topping on the last cup. Unbelievable. And the ice cream is NOT even good! The "cooks" (stupid name indeed) was a crumbly, airy mess and the cherry in the chocolate cherry was just some store bought jam that turned into a slushy frozen blob. The "rocks" (yes, also a dumb name because it's OKAY to call it rocky road!) was fine but the vanilla was a snoozefest. So, all told: pathetically mediocre ice cream, terrible service, unpleasant atmosphere, and a purely capitalistic kids store included? Mark our words that this place will be closed within a year. read more

The minute you walk in, you will begin to feel like you just entered a kids clothing store rather than an ice cream shop. However....don't panic. You have indeed just walked into the cutest and delicious ice cream shop. I have to say, aside from the "daycare" decor the ice cream selection is one I truly appreciate. Being lactose intolerant and unable to eat gelatin due to dietary restrictions. I was able to enjoy a lovely cup of vegan Cotten candy ice cream. ( it was SO good i had to go back for seconds) there was an oatmeal base i believe and the marshmallows were vegan as well. You know what that means? (NO GELATIN WOOHOO). I was super excited to have this ice cream and even more pleased with how wonderful the service was here. I totally understood the concept once it was explained but at that point it didn't matter because I was sold on the first lick of ice cream. read more

I have to say I'm very disappointed with this place! After my first great experience I have to go back and give it 1 star! 3 times I have walked all the way up there from Murray hill in the past couple of months and they have been closed for a private party. I should not have to call an ice cream shop to ask if they are open on a nice sunny day! I understand you have parties but don't forget about your regular customers! I won't be going back anytime soon! read more

We had our daughter's first birthday party here and it was perfect. They take care of all the decorations and even the gift bags. You do have to bring food and alcohol, but they have soft drinks. I'm sure we'll have another birthday here when she gets older. Thank you for making her first birthday so special! read more

Delicious ice cream and wonderful service. The staff was very knowledgeable about food allergies. The employee waiting on me even knew how to pronounce soy lecithin and what it was! I ate the ice cream there, and I did not have an allergic reaction! Yay! This place is truly allergy safe. 3.5** Such a cute place! Came here to try their ice cream sandwiches and ice cream donuts. The owner was so sweet! She offered us samples, which was the full piece of donut! It's basically ice cream coated in chocolate in a donut shape. It's similar to the ice cream bites in the frozen section of the grocery freezer. How was it? Great if you never had it but I was expecting a real donut with ice cream in the middle. As for the ice cream flavors, I had wicked which was coffee and rocky road. The donut flavor was vanilla. You can request flavors a few days ahead of time! They also have a kids section and parties for kids. They are aiming to accommodate all allergies. read more

This place is a dream come true for those with peanut and tree nut allergies!! This place is one of the main reasons we took a weekend trip to NYC...seriously. To be able to tell my 7 year old he could have anything in the entire store...when normally we can never eat ice cream out ever...was incredible!!! The ice cream was delicious!!! The employee was so patient with us and let my son try several flavors before he decided on one. They had a separate little freezer that had some ice cream pops and mini ice cream donuts. He also chose one of the little donuts...pink sprinkle ice cream inside and covered with chocolate. He loved it!! I chose the flavor "Speed Bump" which was rocky roads without the nuts...sooo good! They had about five tables to sit at and they also had a separate little room that had a birthday party going on in it. The kids seemed to be having a great time. It is a great idea to have a little separate room like that for parties or groups of friends that come. They had a few little stuffed animals and toys and trinkets for sale too. I love ice cream but I hate the aftertaste of chemical, preservative ridden brands. Finding 'real' ice cream void of food colourings and unnecessary ingredients is not that easy but thankfully, A La Mode Shoppe hit the mark! The hard scooped ice cream flavors are somewhat traditional with a twist as well as some adventurous flavors such as Burnt Marshmallow, Strawberry Rhubarb, and Sweet Cream. Everything I tasted was delicious and flavorful with a wonderful creamy texture. Totally satisfying. The gelato was also good as well but seemed to be missing an additional punch of flavor... however, I may be a bit spoiled as I've had some of the best scoops while traveling in Italy, France and Belgium. I should add that their waffle cones are magnificent and a must try. A La Mode Shoppe is definitely high on the list of solid choices, flavors and value for your buck. The best part is after you finish eating, you won't be bothered by any chemical aftertaste. You should go! read more
