The ice cream was amazing. They had great service and a wide variety of flavors. They were also good with anyone who has an allergy.

This place is a curious vibe! When you walk in - the decor is covered by pink young girly products, small youthful chairs and tables and a chandelier. I thought we were a bit out of place but then, they put on 90s alternative (did they guess my age and favorite band??!!). We were greeted enthusiastically by a young and joyous staff who was more than happy to have us try lots of fun flavors. I went with the lemon ginger sorbet pint, my husband orange sorbet pint. My lemon ginger would have been less bitter and the ginger was a little bit too prominent. My husband also said his sorbet could have been less bitter. I would return in hope of trying other dairy free or frozen yogurt flavors but not sure I would buy any of the other pricey products. read more

Please train your workers. My family came here for ice cream today. And upon getting a Boylan Seltzer and asking for ice in a cup, I was served dry ice which I haven't had much experience with. I thought it was ice that entertains kids so was safe considering it's a kid themed ice cream shop. But my husband quickly warned me it may be dry ice and it may be dangerous to consume, and at that moment the manager saw and took the cup. I normally wouldn't write a bad review. But a little spooked I did research and saw that ingesting dry ice can be fatal. If it weren't for my husband and the manager, I could've literally died in front of my kid and family. Now imagine that happening to a kid who wouldn't know better. That's why I'm writing this review. Again please train your employees on safety handling of dry ice and consider not putting it next to actual ice or anything that is consumable. read more

Simply the best! We truly appreciate the options for our nut allergy/celiac teenager and we enjoy our ice cream there as well. I had the pink sprinkle this trip, my teen had the chocolate. There are gluten free cone options as well. We were even able to pick up some Vermont Nut Free chocolates for a treat later this week. A La Mode Shoppe has some fantastic ice cream at an extremely reasonable price- what is not to love? The employees and owner are also amazing and very patient (especially with my mom who basically wanted to try every flavor since she couldn't make up her mind). We had the espresso flavored ice cream with chocolate chips in addition to what I believe was a salted caramel. Needless to say, it was great. I plan on visiting A La Mode after any Broadway show I go to- how can I not? It's worth the walk all the way to the east side versus any gelato place in the Theater District if you ask me! passed by here for years and finally came in for the first time and had one of the best ice cream/dessert experiences of my life. it was so indulgent... i regret not coming here sooner. a few caveats? after the first few bites of the chocolate, i noticed a lack of unctuous richness (not a bad thing). the texture was still silky smooth and all the flavors popped, so I still loved it. i only learned afterwards this has no egg, hence why i think it lacked that distinct fattiness ice cream usually has. also, ice cream usually has a more fluffy, chewy texture which this did not have (again not a bad thing). the one unfortunate thing is that this ice cream contains a lot of stabilizers and as someone who makes ice cream at home occasionally, this is kind of seen as a no no, but I honestly could not care less whats in it, as long as it tastes amazing. i could not pick up any off flavors whatsover and if you had told me there were like 5 ingredients in it i would have believed you because of how clean it tasted. i would actually describe this more as a gelato than ice cream. even though there is no true definition and distinction between the two, i feel like in a general sense, gelato is seen as more 'clean', where the flavors of the ingredients are highlighted more, less richness, and smoother in texture. all of which this ice cream has. regardless, this is a 5/5 product. i'll be coming back regularly to try all their flavors. read more

There are a lot of very specific ice cream flavors, such as dairy free flavors, etc. that make the place great for kids with allergies. I got one scoop of the rose ice cream and it was FANTASTIC! I didn't want to try any flavors in store bc COVID, so I was worried that the rose flavor would be too subtle or there would be too much artificial flavoring/ sugar; however, my fears were unfounded. The ice cream was creamy and had a strong rose flavor -- 1 scoop was definitely not enough! We LOVE visiting A La Mode Shoppe! Having peanut and tree nut allergies, it can be really difficult to find a place that is truly safe to enjoy. A La Mode Shoppe takes out the worry and allows its customers with nut allergies to just enjoy ordering an ice cream cone (something that I think a lot of people take for granted if they never had to worry about cross contamination or allergens). They have a wide range of ice cream and sorbet flavors plus a few tables inside and outside. What is most important to know is that A La Mode Shoppe is more than an ice cream shop, it is a place where families are making memories. (Our family included) Note: They are busy and may be closed for a party so be sure to check if they are open. We just happened to park right in front of this cute Parisian style ice cream shop the other day and we had to go in. From the outside it looks like a quaint Parisian cafe with their cute tables and pink & white striped awnings. Upon entering you see the cutest kid friendly ice cream shop with way more to choose from than just ice cream. Tons of cute kids toys and clothing and they even have balloons. We were then really interested to hear that they serve completely allergy free ice cream - no nuts, no sesame and no eggs. They are also carried in grocery stores so check your local freezers! The flavors are so cute and interesting in bright colorful shades - not to mention delicious. And their spoons and straws change colors with temperature. Adorable! Thankfully no one else was inside on a Friday afternoon, so was able to quickly make a selection and leave. Decided on the 2-Scoop option with a waffle cone ($6ish altogether). After getting a breakdown of the available flavors, opted for the Wired (coffee ice cream with chocolate chips) and Sea Salt Caramel scoops. Ice cream is certainly fresh, since the whole thing started melting as soon as it was handed over. Love the flavor in the sea salt caramel - delivering on that salty sweet punch. The gobs of caramel could have been mixed in better. The "Wired" scoop has a strong coffee flavor, and a nice texture balance with the chocolate chips. Such a terrible experience here tonight after we took our daughter out for some post-pizza ice cream as a special treat for being a trooper after a long drive. Sure, it's kind of cute inside, but the music is SUPER LOUD. Oh, maybe that's why the two guys working messed up our order THREE different times. First, one didn't hear the other make our daughter's cone, so they had to redo that. Then they got the flavors wrong on one cup and had to redo do that and then they forgot the topping on the last cup. Unbelievable. And the ice cream is NOT even good! The "cooks" (stupid name indeed) was a crumbly, airy mess and the cherry in the chocolate cherry was just some store bought jam that turned into a slushy frozen blob. The "rocks" (yes, also a dumb name because it's OKAY to call it rocky road!) was fine but the vanilla was a snoozefest. So, all told: pathetically mediocre ice cream, terrible service, unpleasant atmosphere, and a purely capitalistic kids store included? It's basically ice cream coated in chocolate in a donut shape. It's similar to the ice cream bites in the frozen section of the grocery freezer. How was it? Great if you never had it but I was expecting a real donut with ice cream in the middle. As for the ice cream flavors, I had wicked which was coffee and rocky road. The donut flavor was vanilla. To be able to tell my 7 year old he could have anything in the entire store...when normally we can never eat ice cream out ever...was incredible!!! The ice cream was delicious!!! The employee was so patient with us and let my son try several flavors before he decided on one. They had a separate little freezer that had some ice cream pops and mini ice cream donuts. He also chose one of the little donuts...pink sprinkle ice cream inside and covered with chocolate. He loved it!! I chose the flavor "Speed Bump" which was rocky roads without the nuts...sooo good! They had about five tables to sit at and they also had a separate little room that had a birthday party going on in it. The kids seemed to be having a great time. It is a great idea to have a little separate room like that for parties or groups of friends that come. They had a few little stuffed animals and toys and trinkets for sale too.
