I have to firstly give it to the server here, because she was very attentive to us and was really cool on letting us try some samples. I knew I wanted ice cream, but I didn't know what flavor yet and she described the flavor so well to us. I ended up getting a milkshake mixed with honeycomb and brown sugar chocolate brownie. It was freaking delightful, I was a little afraid. It was gonna be too sweet, but it was the perfect amount of sweet. We found out that honeycomb is the most popular flavor and that one of the owners is from Australia and that's why they had it on the menu. My boyfriend ended up mixing mango sticky rice and strawberry, which for the flavor profile was also perfect. Mango sticky rice was once a seasonal flavor, but it became so popular that it was just added to stay on permanently (that's what the server told us). 10/10. Too bad they have really good ice cream but the employee that serve us has attitude. Location: It is located along 3rd avenue. The store has few seatings inside. Service: the girl who serve us has a terrible attitude. There was no line and she seems to be in a hurry to take our order. We didn't even get the chance to really look at the menu because she seems to be irritated. She even told me and my friend "ill take your orders and you guys can pay together". She didn't give us a choice. I ordered two scoops in a cup and the two scoops are smallest two scoops I've seen in my life. We then went to the cashier and we wanted to pay separately. I stopped by on a Friday night at around 9:30 pm and there was a bit of a line but it wasn't too bad of a wait, about 10-15 minutes. Since it was a little busy, we were limited in the number of flavors we could try. I was with three friends and we decided to split three flavors: Earl Grey: 4.5/5. Classic. Earthy. Subtle. I liked it a lot! Passionfruit Berry: 5/5. Hands down my favorite flavor of the three. It had a nice, refreshing sweet-sour taste. The flavor just screams tropical summer! Banana Bread Pudding with Fudge Swirls: 3/5. This one had to grow on me. I think the banana flavor with the fudge swirl had a level of sweetness that was a little off-putting at first but I started liking it after a few more tastes, especially with the banana bread bits. Van Leeuwen is known to be a little pricey but the workers gave big scoops even with the rush! Plus, every time I go to a Van Leeuwen, the ice cream is super rich and creamy, so definitely worth the trip. read more

I used to get two scoops when I first started visiting their locations. I found the scoops have gotten bigger so one is enough. I've tried coffee and a couple other flavors. I always return to the Peanut Butter cup flavor. Anything with peanut butter! I tried vegan and hated it. I never tried it again. If you are in Yorkville you should visit this location. Specialty ice cream at it's best! This location is popular and very busy as it is right by Times Square. I visited around 9 at night on a weeknight and there was a short line out the door. Everyone in line knew it was worth the wait as they stay open pretty late anyway. Their flavors are legendary and unique such as Spring Specials: Vegan Planet Earth, Dulce de Leche Walnut cookie chip, Peaches & Cream, or Honeycomb Fudge Ripple. I was going to be transporting ice cream back to our hotel for the rest of the family so only having 2 hands, I was limited in what I could order. I left with the Bigface coffee affogato milkshake, two scoops of the Brown sugar cookie dough and a scoop of the Dulce de Leche walnut cookie chip! All 3 were heavenly.
