A disappointing first and last visit! I had high hopes for this place but unfortunately, my experience was tainted by an unnecessarily harsh interaction with the owner. I arrived first and was quickly greeted and asked if I needed a menu, which I appreciated. I ordered a coffee and a cookie while waiting for my client to arrive. When I asked to hold off to order for my guest, I was told the system wouldn't allow that, so I completed the transaction. All fine. Once my client arrived (who didn't want anything), we sat down at a nearly empty cafe to do some work using the Wi-Fi. Less than 15 minutes later, we were approached abruptly and told that bringing outside drinks wasn't allowed, that my guest hadn't purchased anything, and that the owner had bills to pay. There was no warmth or professionalism just a lecture in front of other customers. I calmly explained that I had made a purchase and was using the Wi-Fi as intended, and also that we were unaware of the no-outside-drinks policy (my client had a tejava). Instead of a courteous reminder, we were met with defensiveness and a dismissive attitude. I'm all for small businesses protecting their space and covering their costs but hospitality matters. A simple, respectful conversation would've gone a long way. Sadly, this left a terrible impression, and I won't be returning. read more

The El Tren sandwich was truly the driest chicken sandwich I have ever had-could not finish it. We ordered the Cobb salad specifically with no tomato, and when I called to see if the order was ready, I said no tomato again. Guess what? Review update: This was great in the beginning however, the way their over charging has gone over. I asked for a Cobb salad and it's a HUGE salad that comes with ONE small dressing. I asked for an additional and was charged TWO dollars for an extra! Are you kidding the way they have portioned that dressing is not equal to all the greens in the salad bowl! When you order the chipotle sandwich in coffee shop it comes with a side salad, when you order to go they do not give the salad. Mind you, the price is still the same. We're pescatarian (only veggies and seafood), this place has good options for us and for vegetarians. Hubby tried the salmon bagel with everything and loved it! While not on the menu, they were more than happy to make me a salmon crepe - loved it!! They asked if we were first timers - and upon confirming, we were presented with a sample size of their chia pudding bowl - also amazing! The crew were so friendly and helpful, pointing out the condiment bar and the outside seating area for inspection. Parking is limited - even with the small supermarket next door. They have decaf options if you're avoiding caffeine and milk alternatives if you're avoiding dairy! We'll definitely return to sample more of their amazing menu and hospitality! Came here for brunch on a weekday and the outdoor patio had the perfect cozy and rustic vibe. The staff were all super sweet and our food came out quickly. What a great addition to our city! This is the cutest little spot to grab a coffee, juices, light bites and even a full meal. Ive been here several times now and each time I try something new, I'm never disappointed. The employees, and the owner herself are all so super friendly. They have a tiny corner with retail items like authentic Mexican clay coffee mugs and more. But the best part is one you'd never imagine. THE BACK PATIO is a total little oasis. I've been here before a few times and it's a place I'd typically recommend. I know it recently started getting a lot of traction on social media, and that could be good and bad. Today we came in as a family of 6. We waited from 11:11am to 12:30 to get our food. During the wait, we noticed multiple tables who got there after us, dining and leaving before us. My mom kindly asked for an update on our order and she was told there were just 1 more table's ticket in front of ours. Even after that, we waited an additional 25 minutes until my dad went inside and got the attention of the owner. There was no apology, no comp, no offer of something to hold us over while we continued to patiently wait. Owner seemed annoyed today but it could be due to how busy it was. When the food started coming out, we got everything except my dad's dish.Server told him at least 6 times it was coming soon, that turned out to be over 25 minutes too while the rest of us waited so we could eat together. At the end I asked for To go boxes and they never came, I had to get up and remind a server that we had asked for to go boxes over 15 minutes ago. Again, the owner over heard and told her what boxes to give us, but no apology. The party we were sharing a table with also had issues with the wait times for their food, and on our way out the table next to us was asking to cancel their order because they had also waited over an hour. Super disappointed in the lack of customer service and accountability today. Definitely will no longer recommend this establishment anymore. read more

I got the Chipotle (Chicken) Sandwich with swiss cheese and a smoothie which was absolutely delicious. Visited this cafe today with friends. The cafe looks unassuming from outside. There's a small parking spot to the side and street parking. I opted to park on one of the side streets nearby because the street parking on A St seemed sketch. Going into the cafe, the inside is fairly small. You'll see the cashier where you order prior to seating yourself and 2 small tables for maybe 2-3 people each. However, they do have ample seating in the back. It feels very homey with a mix and match of furnitures and plenty of plants. I ordered the avocado toast, which had the option of adding bacon. I opted not adding it on. The avocado was fresh and the bread was not too soft nor too hard. It also came with a tiny amount of salad. The pricing feels average to other brunch/cafe places in the Bay Area. read more

Unfortunately my experience with the cafe wasn't as good. We ordered a white chocolate mocha iced and hot but we got mocha. That was the first mistake. We also ordered avocado toast with two egg scramble but we just got avocado toast and while the food was delivered we did ask the scramble eggs is coming correct but even after 10 min it did not show up. I had to go to ask for my eggs and at the end we got an omelette which my kids don't really like. I've been coming to this Cafe for probably 2 years now and I can only say that the service here is amazing, to the point where they know me by name plus they know my order exactly how I want it. The ladies there are always always super friendly. As soon as you walk in there it feels Welcoming. Their food has never disappointed. The ambience there is one of a kind. I've tried their chia seed pudding which is incredible..10/10.. Their chef salad with goddess dressing is very flavorful and tasty. But my go-to is always the veggie sandwich and they are always accommodating by customizing what I want and what I don't want on it. In a very lightweight sketchy-ish part of Hayward (they have bars on their windows) but the prices are very reasonable for what you get. I ordered a Nutella and banana sandwich and it was $8. What I didn't like was their lack of cleanliness. They gave us dirty silverware wrapped in dirty napkins which was definitely off putting. I also went on a hot day and they have a tarp handing over all their outside seating so it gets hot on their patio very quickly. There is street parking but there is also a small lot to the side where I was able to snag a spot. I was warmly greeted when I walked in and took some time to look at the menu, deciding on a Vietnamese iced coffee and an egg sandwich with sausage. The pastries looked delicious but I would have to save those for another day. There are a couple of seats inside but I decided to grab a table out on the patio. When I arrived around 8:30 on a Thursday, there was just three of us but by the time I left there was a nice group of folks out on the patio. I first received my drink, which came in the cutest cup and I also got to try their chia bowl which, isn't something I'd probably order but it was a tasty treat to enjoy while I waited.
