Favorite sushi spot! Sushi is always fresh and the poke bowls are always amazing! The lunch special is a great deal.

Nice small and inexpensive sushi shop tucked a bit away from Queens Blvd with just enough room for seating. The sushi is spot on. Nice fresh, delicious taste to it along with the complimentary soy sauce, Wasabi and pickled ginger. For the lunch special they do give you a choice between miso soup and salad. I opted for the salad since I've already had miso soup many times over with my sushi, but I should have stuck with the soup. No knock on the salad but I was not a fan of the dressing they had on it, rendering the salad flavorless. I won't factor it into my scoring because the sushi was done and plated well plus the service was very accommodating.

Honestly the spicy yellow tail roll is so simple but amazing... I could eat 20 of them. I should've ordered 2 orders.

Sometimes I wonder why I keep trying sushi spots in Queens and expecting them to be anything other than mediocre. It seems as though unless you pay for an expensive omakase experience, you will undoubtedly be disappointed. It's the only cuisine that I've had in Queens that is very subpar to what I've experienced in Manhattan and Brooklyn. For almost any other cuisine, I would choose Queens in a heartbeat. I visited A Sushi for lunch recently while waiting for my brother to get a hair cut down the street. It's obvious that this is a take out spot, which is fine, but I figured I would treat myself to a lunch special since I had time to kill. I ordered a three roll combo with miso soup. The service was good and the food came out quickly; however, the rolls tasted like day old sushi from Stop and Shop. The rice was cold and on the harder side, and the fish didn't really seem fresh. The avocado was at least the perfect level of ripeness, but that was the only positive. The miso soup was not as flavorful as I would've liked, but that was to be expected given the overall experience. This place seems to have good reviews and perhaps it's became there aren't better sushi places around that area, but it surprises me that this place can survive on Austin Street given the many other food options in the immediate vicinity.

On a whim to find decent sushi while I was in the FoHi area I came across A Sushi via Yelp. The reviews were decent so I gave it a try. I placed an order for takeout which took about 10 mins to make. I'm not sure how this was a sit-down restaurant prior to COVID-19. There's absolutely no breathing room. A Sushi reminds me of another quaint sushi spot named, Sushi Time. I order the Two Roll Lunch Special which comes with either a soup or house salad. I ordered two Spicy Kani Rolls with a House Salad. I also asked for Eel Sauce & Spicy Mayo on the side. I'm not a fan of tobiko nor ginger so I asked for them not to be included with my meal. The rolls were fresh and exactly what I needed. I did not like that the wasabi was not separated from the rolls. The wasabi ended up on the side of the rolls which I was not too fond of. I prefer to add my wasabi to the eel sauce so I can control the spice level. Also they could given me more eel sauce than the little bit that I received.

It's great that A Sushi has been open during the Covid-19 quarantine, for take-out or delivery only. This small joint is a very good local option for basic sushi and sashimi. The sushi and sashimi that we've had here -- which have included sushi rolls, and the "Salmon Lover" and "Sushi & Sashimi for 2" entrees -- have been fresh in taste and texture, and reasonably priced (especially so for the sushi rolls during lunch hour). During the Covid-19 quarantine, A Sushi allows only one customer in the restaurant at a given time. However, the ability to order online via the Yelp app in addition to via telephone makes it easy to minimize interaction. On the occasions I arrived early for pickup, staff brought my food out to me while I waited outside. I'd recommend picking up sashimi orders instead of opting for delivery when ordering with miso soup. I recommend the miso soup (an above average interpretation) over the salad, but hot soup may warm the sashimi when they are packaged together. I hope the restaurant considers separating sushi / sashimi from hot items in future orders.

Needed a serious sushi fix during quarantine and my favorite joint was still closed. With the help of Yelp, found this place open, with good reviews. Ordering was quick and easy with Yelp Online ordering and pre-pay. This place has suddenly become one of my favorite sushi places in these troubling times. So delicious and fresh, the meal was able to transport me to memories of better times. Ordered the all salmon special for $20, which has 6 pieces sashimi, 4 pieces sushi and 1 spicy salmon roll. Also got the lunch special of any 3 rolls of your choice for $11.50 plus soup or salad. Everything was delicious and fresh. Nice sized salmon sashimi was deliciously fresh and silky smooth. My tongue danced with joy! This meal really hit the spot! Nice sized portions and reasonably priced. Looking forward to going back soon and trying other dishes.

I ordered for a pickup- stepped into the store and literally no one acknowledged me for a good 5 minute. It was awkward because they see me but probably only one person was "working" ... the rest were on the phone, sitting on the chair and minding their own business. After a bit, the main guy saw me and then asked me what my pickup order code was. I ordered the American sashimi entree. Wasn't too impressed. The rice was not flavorful and it was soo piping hot, it didn't work well with the sashimi. There were 18 pieces of sashimi and not the freshest but wasn't bad either. The salad was a little wilted so I threw that away. Overall probably would not come again.

3 Rolls Lunch Special (Spicy tuna, tuna avocado, salmon avocado)
    Catherine Y.

I was really excited to get sushi again but when I called in the order, the girl who answered the phone was rude and hung up on me mid-sentence when I was asking how long it would be. Besides that, there was definitely a different sushi chef than the last time I ordered. They may look similar however the skills are definitely different. The rice was rolled uneven and the rice was way too mushy. Even the size between the cuts of fish and avocado were uneven as well. If you look at the spicy tuna, the tuna and the spicy sauce is not mixed evenly. However, the fish still tasted fresh but due to the rude service (good thing she wasn't there when I went to pick up the order) and the sad sushi skills, this order can only warrant two stars. Who needs the aggravation when spending hard earned money on food?

Not sure what happened to this place but the quality has gone downhill. I used to order from this place a lot but the last few times I've ordered from here, the sushi was just bad. The fish did not look or taste fresh at all. I got a yellowtail roll and the fish was so stringy and was light brown in color. For reference, yellowtail is supposed to be white/pinkish in color. The most recent order, the rice was extremely wet and mushy. It was like a rice paste that was slathered onto the seaweed. I couldn't even finish my sushi because it just tasted so gross. I don't know how they can serve that to customers. I tried to give them many chances because I understand there could be off days, but I can't keep wasting my money on extremely low quality sushi

Every course was beautifully presented, impeccably fresh, and perfectly balanced. From the delicate Red Sea Bream and buttery Scallop to the luxurious Toro with Caviar, Sweet Shrimp with Uni, and the unforgettable Eel with Foie Gras, each bite was a masterpiece. What truly elevated the evening was Michael, our sushi chef. He was warm, engaging, and exceptionally knowledgeable. Even before the food arrives, the restaurant leaves a strong impression with its stunning Japanese-inspired interior. The space is beautifully designed, blending warmth and elegance in a way that feels both inviting and refined. From the soft lighting to the natural wood accents and thoughtfully arranged decor, everything about the atmosphere feels intentional. It captures the intimate charm of a traditional izakaya while still feeling modern and stylish, making it a wonderful setting for anything from a casual dinner to a more special night out. The food more than lived up to the beauty of the space. One of the first highlights was the salmon onigiri, a dish that proved how satisfying simplicity can be when it is done well. The rice was soft, fresh, and perfectly formed, holding together without feeling too compact, while the salmon added a savory richness that made each bite feel comforting and flavorful. It was balanced, delicate, and deeply satisfying in a way that made it memorable despite its simplicity. The seared salmon salad was another standout. The salmon itself was beautifully prepared, with a lightly seared exterior that gave it a subtle crispness, while the inside remained tender, buttery, and smooth. That contrast in texture made the dish especially enjoyable. Paired with the freshness of the salad, it felt light and refreshing, yet still substantial enough to feel like more than just a side dish. It was a dish that managed to feel both clean and indulgent at the same time. The grilled squid was particularly impressive and easily one of the most memorable items of the meal. Squid can often be difficult to get right, as it can become rubbery or overly chewy if even slightly overcooked, but that was absolutely not the case here. The texture was spectacular--tender, delicate, and pleasantly springy without any toughness. Each bite had a light smokiness from the grill that added depth, while the squid itself retained its natural sweetness. It was expertly prepared and showcased a level of precision that really stood out. For the main courses, both the Tonkatsu Ramen and the Black Pepper Ramen delivered distinct experiences, each with its own appeal. The Tonkatsu Ramen was deeply comforting and satisfying, with a broth that had a rich, velvety texture and a full-bodied depth that coated the palate beautifully. It felt smooth, hearty, and luxurious without being too heavy. The noodles had an ideal texture as well--firm enough to provide a satisfying bite, yet soft enough to soak up the broth and integrate perfectly into the dish. Altogether, it was a bowl that felt warming, balanced, and incredibly comforting. The Black Pepper Ramen, on the other hand, brought a bolder and more assertive flavor profile. The broth had a smooth, glossy texture, and the noodles again had a pleasing chew that gave the dish structure and substance. The black pepper added an unmistakable warmth and aromatic intensity that made the ramen stand out immediately. It was flavorful and memorable, though the pepper was slightly overwhelming at times. A bit less black pepper would have allowed the other flavors in the broth to come through more clearly and created a more balanced bowl. Even so, the ramen was still enjoyable, especially for those who appreciate strong, pepper-forward flavors. Overall, Izakaya Fuku is a restaurant that succeeds on every level. The stunning Japanese interior creates an atmosphere that feels both immersive and elegant, while the food reflects a real attention to detail in both flavor and texture. From the comforting salmon onigiri, to the fresh and beautifully prepared seared salmon salad, to the expertly grilled squid with its exceptional texture, and finally the rich and satisfying ramen dishes, every part of the meal felt carefully executed. It is a place that offers not just excellent food, but a complete dining experience, and it is well worth visiting for anyone looking for standout Japanese cuisine in New York.

We also shared Chicken Yakiudon, Yakiniku Don & Pork Katsu Don. The yakiudon was very good and the katsu was crispy and generously sized. I did not like the sauce on the beef in yakiniku don. I have eaten at very high end sushi restaurants and am almost 50 years old. I have never had a $60 hamachi kama. This one wasn't even tasty!!! It was not good or flavorful. Tasted like they just defrosted and microwaved it. I was wondering why i kept hearing a microwave go off but realized after the fact that that's what they must have done. I did not complain. We paid the bill. We left. Later that night I had stomach issues. Nicest way I can put that. I will say that i ate almost nothing that day so I can only attribute the stomach issues to the sushi. The place is clean and nice. For $78/per person and only have Australian Wagyu Beef (not really Wagyu) then it's over priced. We did have some premium beef which I liked because of the marble of fat on the beef quite tender and tasty, but only a sampler or whatever they called it. Service with one person is quite inadequate but she's very attentive and pleasant, since she had to run the whole restaurant, sometimes forgets things. The tomato broth was good and everyone liked it. The seafood plate is OK and our sweet shrimps are sweet. Some snow crab legs, jumbo shrimps, fish fillets, nothing to make me go wow. The appetizers tempura is crispy and good. The raw octopus is tasty. The vegetables are fresh and clean. After they denied me the premium beef sampler, I let my daughter to order everything else and I just enjoyed with the family. My daughter seemed to be happy and ate a lot, so I was happy. I've eaten enough shabu, hot pot to know that Australian or American Wagyu are overrated, many of them are tough and chewy, not as tender as normal ribeyes or Brisket that I like. This restaurant Wagyu beef does have marbles of fat in it, so it's tender and not so chewy. So, for the GOLD menu, I don't think it's worth the $78 but for special occasions, it's OK. I just don't like the confusion of many menu, many prices, and not getting my own menu and get denied for something on the menu because I didn't pay enough.

We went on a weekday with a party of 8 and had a 6:15 PM reservation. The restaurant seemed…read moreshort-staffed when we arrived, although it wasn't very busy. Service improved later as more staff came on shift. The beef was decent, and we chose the mid-tier menu. For the price--over $100 per person including tax and tip--the selection felt somewhat limited. I also wasn't a fan of sharing one large hot pot. I prefer individual pots, which I've had at same chain in California. The decor and service were both decent, but nothing stood out. We were split into two tables of four even though I noticed a private room that remained unused during our visit. Overall, the experience was okay, but I don't think it was worth the price.

We had a great, GREAT server named Maggie Chen, whose name I am mentioning here due to the fact she was able to set us up with a free desert for a kind (and fair!) review. So here is my (updated) review: - The rolls we ordered were tasty and fresh. (For me, the Rapunzel Roll SLAPS. I ordered the same one - unknowingly - both times I have been here!) - We shared the Wagyu dumplings and the Shrimp shumai and they were honestly SOOOO GOOD. Finger-licking good!! - We also shared then chicken lo mein - also delicious and a big portion (there were some leftovers) - The staff is always kind and very friendly. Again, Maggie was really sweet, accommodating, took pictures for us and of course helped sing the HBD song which never not embarrasses me ever. darn. time. The ambiance is also always very chill, but a hit higher scale, with its beautifully colored mosaic-like rounded booths and a big, full bar, too. Knowing Mito is so good now and so close to my house can be a bit of a problem. I may become a regular but I guess that'd be a good thing for the business, HA. Thanks Mito for a special birthday dinner! Here's to more to come.

For starters we had to get Edamame and Calamari which was a little soft for my tasting but was still pretty good. For our mains, Chicken Teriyaki and of course so many selections of Sushi Rolls to choose from. Dessert and drinks were (Cherry Blossom Cocktail will for sure pack a punch) delicious and our server was so nice! Definitely recommend if you're looking for a new sushi spot :)!!!

I've always loved ordering takeout from this place, especially for their ramen and rice dishes, but…read morethis was my first time dining in for a Monday lunch with a party of three. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The service was good, and the seating was comfortable. The restaurant filled up while we were eating, which shows how popular it is. I tried their sushi for the first time and ordered the keizen don bowl. The raw fish was extremely fresh, the assortment was excellent, and the special tea-flavored seasoned rice added a unique touch. The portion was generous, and I left satisfied. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be coming back.

We ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and King Crab Ikura Don over cold tochucha noodles. I thought the ramen was just mediocre and the chashu was very hard to chew. The noodles was pretty good. There was a good amount of ikura, king crab, and avocado included. I originally wanted the Sashimi Set but they didn't have uni that day. They would have just subbed it with something else so I didn't think it was worth the $55. I also tried the Tochucha Yuzu Lemonade which was good but not amazing. I didn't know what all the hype was over tochucha because it wasn't very memorable for me. Tonkotsu Ramen 6/10 King Crab Ikura Don 8/10 Tochucha Yuzu Lemonade 7/10
