Beware- A-Team was recently sold and the new owners refuse to stand by the labor warranty they assumed with their purchase of the company. The old A-team staff were fantastic. Last year we paid A-Team over $20k for a premium cold climate heat pump with a corresponding 10 year parts and labor warranty. When I recently contacted A-Team about servicing the unit because of excessive vibration, they said they don't service our area anymore and won't honor the labor warranty. We had a total high efficiency heating, AC install + a new water heater a little over a year and a half ago. A-Team did a great job negotiating all of my original duct work into the new unit. This was no small feat given the original coal fired set up of return and supply ducts in our bungalow. I wanted to let some time pass before I gave the ultimate review, which is holding at excellent. Everything is working exact as the day it was installed. Our energy bills are way lower; it was well worth the cost of high efficiency (Ralph emailed clearly documented receipts, so it was easy to get rebates). I will continue my regularly scheduled maintenance through A-Team, and call on them for any additional HVAC stuff we may need in the future. I prefer to be as honest as I can. I wasn't going to leave a review at all because I have mixed feelings. My response for leaving a review as A-Team requested, is positive, but with a few snags. The first call to A-Team began in mid December 2021. Perhaps I should have had 2021 prices?? Not sure if they changed or not. I was told all our problems were because of a loose low-voltage wire (thermostat). Once this is repaired they put things back together, turned on the disconnect, and the transformer exploded!! They went to their truck, grabbed another transformer, installed it, put things back together, then not only did the transformer blow, but the circuit board and new Ecobee thermostat as well. This is all happening on a Friday in December on the coldest day of the year at 1:00 in the afternoon. Apparently nothing more could be done at this time, so we were left with no heat at all for the entire weekend. I'm guessing the part needed (circuit board) was not available in the Chicagoland area. That following Monday they returned and got the furnace running, replaced the thermostat and did some testing of operation. Numbers needed for efficiency were not right. So the technician made some calls and learned that a different circuit board was needed to correct the issues at hand. The part was ordered. I received a call that Friday to see if I would be available so they could install the new circuit board, I wasn't available at that time. I was asked to make myself available for the coming Monday or Tuesday of the following week, nothing happened. I figured we had heat, it wasn't as urgent, but still needed to be corrected. Two weeks have now gone by, and I finally called because I had not heard back from them. I believe it was finally on February 15th that the furnace was repaired and all checked out good. Two weeks go by, we receive the invoice and it's dated as the day of service is March 8th 2022. This is where I wonder if prices increased for the year. I had a simple question, so I made a call. I just wanted to know what the hourly rate was for service. No response. I realize that after (3 attempts to repair the furnace, that it no doubt it wracked up some labor costs. The technician said he would try and be fair with his billing. Hummm. I find it hard to believe that all of this started from a low-voltage wire. By the way, the furnace was less than a year old. So, yes, on a positive note, the furnace was repaired, thermostat replaced, and all is good. Did I have 2021 pricing??, don't know. Were they fair with the billing? Well, should I have paid for a simple service call and one hour for labor? Sure. Is $175.00 an hour the going rate for service? I don't believe so, but I'll never know. If the internal fuse didn't protect the components of the furnace, then shouldn't the manufacturer of the furnace be held responsible? The work performed was done under warranty. Parts were covered labor was not. A-Team was referred to me directly from the manufacturer of the furnace so you might think they would eat all costs not only for me but for A-Team as well. Haha! Yeah I know. Again, on a positive note, the technician that completed the work was excellent! Equipment is still running, I paid a (??fair??) price?? What more can I say? You decide. read more

They are very bad with communication. I called them to service my townhouse and to get an estimate on a mini split unit . They replaced the blower motor which was under warranty and charged me about $350. Two weeks go by and the AC is broken again. I call and they fix is again. I ask about the mini split after two weeks and the guy is rude to me. He tells me that I am lucky they didn't charge me for the motor that was under warranty. A month goes by and I ask about the mini split. They give me an estimate of 17k. I call and think there is a mistake. They say no that since they are such high quality, they charge that much. I have gotten other quotes of 4k from a company with higher ratings. I complain to the owner who refunds the second service call to the townhouse. The next day the air conditioner in the townhouse is broken again. These guys are pathetic. read more

Service was awesome. Called them this morning and within an hour Adam came out. We live in Glen Ellyn and wanted someone local. My furnace was acting up since last night. Would turn on and then shut off after 5 to 10 min. Adam found out the issue was blockage inside the air flow inlet. He opened it up and there was a small log and an old shell of a tree nut. See the photos. We then went outside and noticed there was a wire mesh on the outside of our PVC pipe. So that log and nut have been in our inlet valve for at least over 5 years. Bottom line, had a problem and Adam solved it within an hour. I recommend if you need service in Glen Ellyn to call the A-Team and ask for Adam. I called to have my furnace serviced now that the temperatures are getting consistently colder. I was able to schedule a call within 24 hours of calling (non emergency) and was happy with the time and notification process for the appointment and arrival times. That said Ralph was the technician that established the contact and ultimately the one that arrived for the service. I can't say enough about how thorough and honest he was in describing things he did and what to possibly expect down the road with other areas that he identified. I first had the A-Team out to do my furnace in 2009 shortly after I had purchased my house. My old furnace was about 20+ years old and the cold air return duct work wasn't even hooked up ha. What a beautiful job the new furnace and duct work is!! Everything was custom fabricated, at my house, and my gas bill dropped $100 a month, in the winter, with the new high efficiency furnace! Amazing work I can't describe how pleased I am with the job done. Fast forward to late this summer, my A/C decided to take a crap out on me and I thought I could manage until next year... that's when it jumped to 90 degrees for a week and I couldn't take living in a sauna any more, so I gave the A-Team a call! I purchased the best brand in the heating and air conditioning world (TRANE... and yes its hard to stop one. Search YouTube for "It's hard to stop a Trane" and find out if the backhoe survived its encounter with the best brand in the business). They had everything up and running in a few hours! Everything was triple checked to ensure the unit was working optimally. I will never call another HVAC company ever again! If your furnace or a/c goes out, or if you have one of those other crap brands and want to upgrade to a Trane.... do yourself a favor and give the A-Team a call. I called A-Team when my second floor AC went out on an 80 degree day. I spoke with a dispatcher and had a call back within 5 minutes from the technicians. The guys were at my house the same day. As it turned out, there was nothing seriously wrong with the AC. It was a blown fuse. Because it was such an easy fix, they didn't even charge me for a service call! But since they were here, I had them do a complete check of both units. Both units needed the coolant levels adjusted and both exterior units were filthy. They cleaned the units and had them both working like new. During the cleaning they found another issue with one of the units that they fixed at no charge. Wow! I asked about the age of the units and they told me that they were really good units and about 15 years old. They also thought we could get many more years out of them and explained that the units use the old, discontinued coolant and that availability of the coolant would probably dictate when they would have to be replaced. The guys from A-Team were really nice and kept me informed during the entire process. They treated my home and property like it was there own and fully explained everything to me on a level that I could understand. But what impressed me the most was their honesty. They could have easily pulled the wool over my eyes about the age, condition and status of my systems. Instead, they offered honest advice on what they would do to repair and maintain the system and made a best guess estimate about how long the systems would last. We moved into this house June 2012. From here on out A-Team will be doing our annual HVAC service. And when the current systems need replacing, they will be installing the new units for us. read more

I thought I was going to need a whole new outdoor compressor unit for my 20 year old York central air system, and that's probably what some other company would have sold me. But A-Team quickly zeroed in on the problem and only fixed what needed fixing. When I talked to Ralph on the phone, he first had me check that the circuit breaker wasn't tripped. It wasn't, so he came out and right away figured out the problem was a capacitor shared by the fan and compressor motors needed replacing. He checked the refrigerant and said it was low, asked if I wanted him to top it off, which I did. It's back to working good as new. We used to call an HVAC company that was bought by the gas company, and now they want to upsell you or sell you a maintenance plan. It's good to find A-Team, they know what they're doing, fix what needs fixing, check with you before they do anything, and don't try to sell you anything you don't need. read more

Just to confirm, i red the address "757 Dupage Blvd Ste 2813 Glen Ellyn, IL 60137" and he said "yes, that's right. you will see Adam when you go there" I went there and THE ADDRESS IS ROCK CENTER!!!. Opposite to that address is a post office, i even asked the mailman and he said there is no company such A-team around here and the address i told him IS THE POST OFFICE!!!. then i called the company again, a call center rep. answered and she said that she doesn't know the address. When i asked her how come that the guy Alex answered my first call and now she is answering, she replied "maybe they didn't answered their phone and the call directed to me" Long story short, the company doesn't exist at the address they put on Yelp. read more

They came out later in the day and found multiple issues with my system but they stayed until it was working again.
