The food was ok, but the experience was not. I paid for my food with cash and the lady at the register did not give me my change. I was surprised that I had to ask more than once for money that belonged to me, and even more surprised that she completely disregarded me. I'm a decent tipper... the tip that I would have given would have been better. So, the money isn't the issue, it's the principle of the situation. Customers should not be put in the uncomfortable position of having to insist on receiving the money they are owed. The interaction left me with a very negative impression of the restaurant. They refund the service fee if you pay with cash! It's a good pie for right around $20. Had a pleasant evening here recently with some old friends of mine. I've been coming to Giuseppe's ever since I started living in 12th street in college, around 2007. So almost 20 years! And a few of the servers still know "my usual:" Cesar Salad and lasagna! It's been around since 2002 so they must be doing something right! Giuseppe's is the Italian name for Joseph and their website says the owners name is Joe, so I can only assume that's where the name came from. We loved dining here. When you're looking for "a place where the locals go," this would definitely fit the bill. The inside is small and cozy, which leads me to suggesting getting a reservation. We went on a Wednesday night at 5pm and it was packed. I didn't think we'd need a reservation but I'm glad I called earlier in the day and got one. Parking was not ideal but not horrendous. It's somewhat of a triangle shaped building and there's parking on the perimeter of it (notice in video) and some spots across the street. A smaller car would have no problem but we were in my husband's (obnoxiously large) truck. We started with a sauv blanc and a miller lite. ($10 & $4) I am a processo/brut girlie through and through but that wasn't on the menu. I got sauv blanc bc that's what Tswift drinks so what could go wrong. I had ONE glass and I had cotton mouth and a touch of a headache the next morning. But it was delicious. I digress... We got baked feta as an app and loved it. Perfectly creamy but tangy. The crostinis were crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. (9) David got chicken florentine and loved. Chicken spinach, mushrooms, and tomatoes in the homemade Alfredo over fettuccine. This was very creamy and tasted homemade. (17) I got the special of mahi mahi over pasta. So good and light. Mine was much more lemon-y than David's. The capers really set it over the top. I will say the fish was a tad fishy. But nothing unbearable. (Unsure of price - but I'd assume under 20) We don't opt for dessert much but at Italian places it's almost mandatory. This was the best choice EVER!!! I ordered a chicken pesto pizza with artichoke and green olives but accidentally got the pasta instead. They comped me the pasta and STILL made me the Pizza. THAT WAS THE BEST PESTO CHICKEN PASTA I HAVE EVER TASTED IN MY LIFE! And I'm from California, we have good pasta. The ambience was so chill and felt like I was sitting in Nona's kitchen. Upon walking in, you are greeted with a warm ambiance and a homey vibe that makes you feel comfortable right away. Besides the great food, the customer service is outstanding! The servers and hosts were all very pleasant and efficient, while not being overbearing as you try to enjoy a meal. It's always a great sign to see a restaurant be busy, but since it's a fairly small building, you might have to wait a bit. Nonetheless, the wait is worth it for the amazing food. I ordered the veggie pizza and was not disappointed, although next time I would like to try the chicken pesto pizza. Another waitress got them for us but our dinner came quickly after that so it was not timed right. The red sauce has far too much oregano and the Alfredo sauce had a soupy texture. I went by Gieuseppe's a couple days ago a place that has been on my rotation of places I visit frequently for close to a year. I always have great food and great service. I ordered the Shrimp Pesto Linguine and an order of the manicotti to-go. Both dishes were great as usual. However, this time I decided to have dessert something I hadn't done in times past. Now on the menu they have three featured desserts and a specialty dessert. I decided to order two slices of the New York style cheesecake. I got home and finished the meal and when I went to open the dessert that I ordered instead of cheesecake they gave me two slices of their limoncello cake. I thought maybe it was an honest mistake and decided to return to the restaurant to resolve the matter. Upon arrival back at the restaurant I told the host the issue and the other employee said "Oh yeah we are out of cheesecake tonight." So my thought was why not just tell me before I spent nearly 20 dollars on two pieces of cheesecake. So they gave me a slice of the specialty cheesecake "on the house" and sent me on my way with the limoncello cakes that I didn't order. I do love Giueseppes and will surely be back I just think we will skip dessert in the future. It didn't seem to be their strong suit and for the price the portion isn't great.
