But that's pretty common these days, not just for Farmer's Market, but parking in general. Lots of food options and I don't just mean vegetables. You could pretty much have breakfast and lunch here. And enough so you can skip dinner. I almost wonder if there are more food options than other vendors. I didn't count. Don't get me wrong - still a lot of Knick knacks and other items to browse/buy other than food - maybe even something like I grabbed - a western cowboy hat. Finally got me one. Sorry - no pics. Anyway, it's busy, colorful, and fun, and it has that San Diego weekend energy. Definitely check it out if you like fresh food, people watching and spending more money than you meant to.

**August 2026: Sunday Morning Late Morning Visit**…read more I love visiting farmers markets, and this visit was a success. I was able to pick up some fresh baby blue eucalyptus plants for my shower, as well as lavender oils to really help with my aromatherapy relaxation routine at home. The Hillcrest Farmers Market happens every Sunday from 9am to 2pm and there are usually well over 150+ vendors set up along University Avenue and Normal Street. Parking is a bit tricky, but we were very lucky to find a spot in a nearby neighborhood. Once we got in, we found a great assortment of meats, sauces, dips, and more. In a somewhat hidden part of the trail, there's a bunch of exotic food options to consider, including flavors from Africa, as well as some tables where you can sit and enjoy the food. There are also flowers, veggies, eggs, honey, and pretty much anything you'd be interested in. I think we shopped for about 45 minutes as casual browsers, and it felt like a good amount of time to get a feel for the place. It's a great spot to support small businesses.

Cool Sundays makers market in Little Italy! I was in the area on a Sunday and noticed that was…read moresuper packed and was wondering what was going on since the main farmers market is on Saturdays. I found out then that this is another recent regular market where you can find cool items like clothes or accessories for your dog, whimsical hats, handmade candles and jewelry and many more. Very pleasant to see people and pretty things on display. Even better to stop by for a coffee and a pastry and just people watch doing the shopping. Not super huge but enough number of vendors to make it interesting.

This year most of the vendors stayed away. We decided to get crepes from a place called La Creperie because it was one of the only choices. The man was extremely nice. But I was surprised to see that he was using a blow torch on the crepes instead of sautéing things first. My savory crêpe with eggs cheese and mushrooms was essentially like a quesadilla and the mushrooms weren't really cooked. Did it eat very much of it because it was not that savory. The dessert crepe we got was a little better. But I would not come to this booth again. Looking forward to coming another time when there are more of the vendors I like here!

My pre-teen had the hot Cheetos fried chicken over fries. She absolutely loved it. Her Dad is a professional Chef, so she knows good food. I had the ghost pepper chicken, and be warned that it is HOT!!! Their chicken itself is so well seasoned and juicy. Almost all places don't season their fried chicken enough. It was nice to have something incredibly tasty for a change! The word needs to get out there, because this place could be such a hot spot to hang out at on weekends! I bought several caps from the vendor with the 3 men logo. It's become a downtown San Diego staple. I see everyone with it. There are multiple jewelry vendors too. I bought some earrings and bracelets as gifts. I like that it doesn't get too crowded either, and many restaurants to stop at if you get hungry or thirsty. It's a great local artisan market that I recommend to anyone looking for unique gifts.

A great creperie, seriously (Carlos is a true crepe artist), Grandma's Favorites homemade jams (the best!!), fresh cookies and yummy breakfast burritos! There are also some pretty neat jewelry makers, a unique tshirt company (Frayed Threads), handmade soaps, gorgeous art from Kenya, stained glass and photography. Its always a fun time and hits all the basics. Also, with Cost Plus being right next door, I am always game to sneak in there afterward. Hope to see you all there!

The "jazz music" that was promised ended up being an older black gentlemen, likely homeless, singing to a synthesized beat on a children's karaoke machine. Strike one. There might have been 10 booths on day one. Months later, this is more of an impromptu mexican bazarre than a farmer's market. Think "the wait to get back over the border", but much less crowded. And by less crowded, I mean 1 or 2 people. Strike two. Somehow, the city handed out traffic control devices to the few businesses that survived, and they shut down the entire length of the block in front of my building to serve these 2 booths. Strike three, get out. This is a time when the city needs to negate its promise, which in this case was "a year" of this farmers market location. Put it out of its misery now!

The burnt cheese flavor is heavenly!!! It's a great amount of cheese and I could even argue that some areas of the sandwich need more. The service was quick and fast and I love that they make it in front of you! It's so fun to watch and exciting waiting for your sandwich.
