Bobby and Isaac replaced it with a new water heater and trouble shooted through all of the issues we had with potential gas line, needing a new gas meter and then finding out NEW heater circuit breaker was fried. We had an emergency water leak on Saturday afternoon in our front yard and Bobby was great to work with: he let us know what he would be looking for, re-stated the costs for the type of work, and the possibilities that may result from the assessment of the situation. We got him an extension cord so he could setup the light and he made sure to present the broken pieces and the next steps. I called A1 to fix a leaking spray gun at the kitchen sink. water would run down the house and into the cabinet below the sink. German came out, called before arrival, and diagnosed the problem. He was able to fix it, and he also helped me understand a filtration system that was installed by the previous owner (which didn't work) and what's needed to make it operational again. This place was the worst. They told me it was $180 for snaking $250 if it was after hours. So I scheduled during business hours. Somehow the guy went from $250 to $495 because he had to clime on the roof to the main. But when he talked to my landlord he change it to $550. Also he ended Up changing one pipe under my shower. Once he did that the shower was draining slow and then the house started to smell of gas. Call The gas company the shut everything off because the was now a gas leak. Next day they send plumbers back to locate the leaks and give estimate. 1 day no gas. On 2nd they send a different guy and don't tell me. And he does the measurements over again. Now 3rd day they begin work. But half way through the day they stop to get supplies but left my backyard gate open and dirty coveralls in the front yard and no sign of them. I call to see if coming back and they didn't come back for 3 hours it was nightfall by this time and they needed to go home. Now going on 4 days no gas! They guy tells me they will be there 1st thing in morning by the time I get home from work they will be done. Well the guy never came in morning and I call where are you and he says he forgot he had a physical therapy appointment. But say the coworker was working on the place. No one was at my place until late late afternoon they finished at 8:45 pm gas was back on 9:45 finally hit show by 10pm. To top it off they charge us a fortune. Never again. read more

Unfortunately, the services I received from them fell below my expectations. What should have been a fairly straightforward job, turned into a big headache and stretched out longer than I had hoped. They also forgot to check their work before they left the first day and as a result I had a flood under my kitchen sink from an incorrectly installed garbage disposal. The dishwasher knockout hadn't been removed and when I ran my dishwasher, the counter, floor and under the sink flooded. They forgot to plug in the dishwasher after doing emergency repairs over a weekend at my moms house too. Debris from the angle stop installation clogged the bath faucet screen and master bath shower head which wasn't immediately evident but we eventually figured it out and got those fixtures working again. My issue was that they didn't trouble shoot their work before they left and instead of just acknowledging that and moving on, there was yet another lengthy explanation. They provided us with a small discount for our trouble. On a positive note, the plumbing finally seems to be working fine. And they wore face masks. It was not an easy, efficient or smooth process and I would be sure to inquire about who he is sending out and make sure that they check their work carefully before they leave. I'm a fellow business owner and it felt like at every turn the business owner had an explanation or excuse instead of just listening and hearing what his customer was saying. By the end of the experience, I was incredibly frustrated and upset at the whole situation. I've also just learned that the owner made inappropriate comments to our in-home caregiver during the emergency repairs at my mother's house. This just adds insult to injury. read more

I should have checked the work before they left but I had to get cash to pay or get charged 3% card convenience. The work took longer than expected and I had roofers arrive. The worker had to go 2 times to Home Depot for parts and tools. I saw the new hardware and assumed it would function as before minus the dribble leak. All I needed was a small leak fixed. My shower worked fine and water ran fine, I should have left it alone. Now after they replaced all 3 valves and broke tiles to remove one valve. They have no one to send over until tomorrow. I paid $504 for new hardware installation and can't even shower now. I'm disappointed. Feel taken advantage of. UPDATE: The owner Vince called and text several times trying to do everything he could to make it right. He even offered to send someone to repair the tile. Which really meant a lot. The issue was resolved the day after. Debris had made it into the shower head causing a blockage. Fortunately it was a quick fix, and it will keep getting better as I clean the shower head periodically ensure all the debris makes it out. read more

You may say it's only a very small difference, but my main beef was they did not call me to let me know how much it was going to cost instead of obtaining approval from the tenant. Yes it did have to be cleared but I think they should let the owner know first exactly how much it was going to cost plus the 3% credit card convenience fee that will be charged on top of it. We have worked with A1 Plumbing multiple times (we have a very large tree in front of our house and the roots create a constant problem) and have never been disappointed. Our most frequent plumbing issue was a shower pipe that disconnected from the main line and was leaking water under our house without us knowing for weeks. Summary:PLEASE READ TO THE END. I paid $600 to have a kitchen drain uncloged and a small pipe leak fixed, but I still had a clogged drain. $400 for the clog and $200 for the leak. So I paid $400 for nothing. I ended up going with another plumber (one way rooter and plumbing in the Long Beach area) and it was uncloged within 10 Minutes for a FRACTION OF THE PRICE! Save your money and time, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! Here is the kicker. The new plumber I used snaked the drain just like Ron did for much less time and guess what? It worked. This tells me one of two things. He either did not know what he was doing, or they were trying to get more money out of me. Either way, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! First post: Used their services. Paid $400 and 2 days later I noticed the drain is still clogged. Called and they are trying to charge me more to fix it. I do not know much about plumbing but for $400, I expect the drain to be unclogged, that much I know. Update: I called again and spoke to the person in charge. He was very standoff-ish. I explained to him that I had paid $400 when they snaked the drain, but since it did not work that I think I should get a discount on the hydro jetting. He said he would charge me $450 for this service and that this was at a discounted rate. I do not believe this and if this was the case, this would have brought the total amount of money I would have paid them to $850 to unclog a sink drain!!! This is excessive and unjust. This total would have been on top of the $200 I paid them to fix a small leak, if we put that together the total would have been $1,050 to fix a small leak and unclog a drain? Total rip off, they should have worked with me and given me an ACTUAL discount and had me pay the difference on what I had already paid. That is what any good business would have done, but apparently the customer does not matter. Save yourself your hard earned money and go with a plumbing business that stands behind their work and is not trying to rip you off at every corner. I still have a backed up drain and am now out $400 with nothing to show for it. I am beyond upset. FINAL UPDATE: HAD ANOTHER PLUMBER COME OUT AND SNAKED THE DRAIN. HE WAS DONE WITHIN 10 MINUTES. This past Winter, our drains started slowing down and finally stopped draining. I called Vince and he had a team out that morning. Turns out that the pipes were too corroded to unplug and needed replacing. As we live on a slab home, this turned in to quite the project. By the end of the week, all the plugged pipes were fixed and in good working order. And the estimate was lower than I expected! Vince and A-1 Plumbing will always be our plumbers.
