This is not a career but an entry level job for most of them. This is an industry problem though. And if you are paying for a service rather than hiring your own, you are paying for their payroll, staffing, bonding and insurance.

There was one time that they could not find a caregiver and did provide phone. I would say that the majority of the caregivers that they sent out were competent and my mom really liked them. The rest did not interact with my mom and just sat in the chair, saying nothing. One caregiver watched TV the entire night she stayed with my mom. I let the agency know and I asked them not to send those caregivers again. I was glad that we had access to caregivers but I think I may try to use another caregiver company if the need arises.
