I called in a pick up order for 2 chicken kabob sandwiches, but realized they messed up the order when I got back to my office. I immediately called back to let her know she made a mistake, but instead of apologizing, she wanted to debate and argue with me. This was EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL!! I hope the owner reads this. After coming back to this place to give it another chance, i am even more sure that I do not like it here and will not go back again. Instead of a whole grilled tomato on the kabob plate they give you a slice of a tomato that is partially warm which is nasty. Also the pictures show the pickled turnips on the play but they don't give you any just a tiny nasty salad not even a yellow pepper. They got cheap! We go up to order and we could barely hear this woman talk...we kept asking her if she could repeat what she'd say and she'd get irritated at us. Some businesses out here just can't own up to their mistakes. THE EXACT OPPOSITE HAPPENED! Not only were they respectful and apologized, but they make the effort to right the wrong. Everyone has off nights, and mine just happened to be one of them for A1. That is HUGE in my book with how many unreasonable business owners we have out here. Went to A1 Kabob for the first time this weekend and I was impressed. Friendly staff, great food and reasonable price. I ordered the combo plate which includes chicken and steak kabob, rice, pita bread, salad and hummus. They give you a nice size portion and the food was good. Super great restaurant! I've always either called in my order and just showed up and waited. The dishes are always super large, flavored well, and made to order. The staff is very friendly, knowing my name and asking about my day. Also, while waiting, I love watching Middle Eastern reality shows (Arabs' Got Talent anyone?). I really wanted to like this place. Yes, the wait is long as many other reviews say, but that's typical for this type of food so I'm OK with that. (For reference, I was there at 11:30am on a Tuesday and it took about 20 minutes for my food to come out) BUT, the food isn't as "fresh" and many other reviewers say. Nor is it good at all. I ordered the beef sharwarma plate and a side of falafels. First off, the sharwarma they use is made from the LOWEST grade beef. So much gristle/cartilage which I can overlook but it was also bland and not tasty at all! I watched as they pulled a pre-cooked batch from their refrigerator, take a scoop and put on the grill to REHEAT. Putting it on a grill to reheat does not make it "fresh." Might as well have popped it in the microwave. The portion size was also very small, less than a cupful of sharwarma when you order the large order. The plate was 3/4 rice. And the rice was bland. Even the salad...it looked like it had a lot of dressing, but it tasted watered down. Really??? So many chances to make the meal at least somewhat good, but I was disappointed with every bite. The hummus was so-so. Sabra prepackaged hummus tastes better. Now on to the falafels. That was cooked to order so you can consider it "fresh." I watched as they pull another container out of the refrigerator (AFTER they had already plated the sharwarma, rice, salad, and hummus and placed on the counter mind you) and ball up falafel. Each falafel was large, but true to A1 Kabob fashion, NOT good! The falafel was very dry and fell apart just picking it up. The flavor was just lacking completely. All in all, I say avoid this place. With so many food options on my plate, one of them had to be good, but they failed on all counts. I'm not one to waste food AT ALL, at the very least, I try and salvage it by taking it home and mixing it with other ingredients, etc. But with this, I threw it away. No point taking it home as it was beyond fixing. Go to Olives on the Blvd instead. Food is MUCH better, more delicious, and they won't give you drama if you ask for garlic sauce or tzatziki on the side. read more

The last time I went, and I mean that in both senses of the word, I waited almost 40 minutes for take-out. Each time I inquired about the status of my order, I got nothing but attitude. Like "I told you 15 minutes ago it was going to be another 10 minutes. Chill, dude." And I was the only person there.
