I went to another smog station who could not find a "charcoal canister" under my Mazda CX9 and therefore would not pass my car. smog check time. had a coupon for 29.99 and after labor and certificate, it cost me 40$ exactly. it was fast. got in and out in 20 minutes. there was one person ahead of me who was also doing smog check. its a one car garage. he pulls the car in. sets up the smog check. gives you certificate and you on your way for another year of registration. done and done. no complaints here. i think i'll come back every time i need one. read more

Here's his word for word text, that I've censored for the kids: "I thought you'd shut up you f*****g little worm, f*****g cheap basard. my d**k which is about the same size as you is free, there's charge for everything else especially for a**holes like you.. don't ever come over here againg supid f**k" (sic) This was his unsolicited message to me, after I wrote my first review. So, I stopped by without an appointment and was able to get my car in immediately. The guy at the front had me fill out my paperwork and pulled my car into the bay for testing. He was very professional and got the test done quickly. After he completed the test he pulled my vehicle out front. So far, so good. When he came back in, he said "Your car passed." I said "Outstanding." He responded with "So's your mom's pussy." I just laughed it off because it was all I could do to not reach out and slam his head on the counter. He then made some comment about being half Cherokee, which Mohammed is CLEARLY not. At any rate, I can't tell you how many shops there are in the Burlingame area that do smog tests, but I can tell you one that includes a guy that is bound to get his ass kicked if he opens his mouth to the wrong person. Came here this morning with an 830 appt. Went to hand my DMV smog check slip to the guy there and he said "are you blind?" I said huh? He said again "are you blind?" and pointed to the barrier I was apparently not supposed to cross. I just looked at him surprised at how rude he was to me right off the bat. (Funny, I thought I was being helpful.) It took me a second to shake it off but then I asked him for the form back and he said "are you gonna get lost?" I said "yeah, if you're gonna be rude then screw you" and left. What a douche with a chip on his shoulder. Would never recommend this place. And I was having such a nice morning too. Anyway, I drove a few blocks down the street to Harold's Automotive and whaddaya know? They actually greeted and treated me with courtesy. Boy that goes a long way. Like I told the owner after I left his shop this morning...I will NEVER bring back any of my vehicles here EVER again!! I found a $29.75 smog coupon for his shop in my local Pennysaver mailer. I called him last week to ask him what my out the door price would be for my year, make, and model. He told me "$29.75 + $5 extra for being a light duty truck + $8.25 DMV certificate/transfer fee= $43 out the door." I show up this morning at 8:15am and his shop is still closed. The hours listed on his door clearly state that he opens at "8am." Red Flag# 1- He doesn't show up until 8:25am and says, "I open at different times each day depending on when the sun comes out and when it gets lighter out." Red Flag# 2- I provide him with my DMV paperwork and the coupon I clipped out from the Pennysaver. He immediately says, "$10 more for your vehicle." I quickly remind him of the pricing that he quoted me last week, reminding him that he stated "$5 more." He then says, "Is your truck automatic or manual, if it's manual than that's why it should be $10 more." He agrees to charge the extra $5 and not $10, but it took insistence on my part to make that happen. The fact that he can't be consistently honest with his pricing, should have made me walk away! The truth of the matter is this, If he can see an opportunity to up-charge, HE WILL! Red Flag# 3- While he's performing my Smog test, a friend of mine texts me a coupon for a shop also in Burlingame that is offering smog testing for $26.70 + $8.25 certificate/transfer fee for 1996 and newer vehicles. Once he is done with my test, I show him the coupon, and I ask him if he will price match. He says, "No I don't do price matches here! That's for 2000 and newer cars only [which isn't true...all he had to do was read the coupon]...my rent here is probably more than that guy's rent." Red Flag# 4- He rings me up for $29.75 + $5 + $8.25....BUT ADDS $2 electronic transfer fee!!! All the other smog shops I've gone to in the past charge $8.25 for the certificate and electronic transfer fees combined! So again, seeing the chance to up-charge, he nickel and dime's me for another $2! Total out the door cost ends up being $45! Don't wast your time! Seriously, I've warned you. Go to PRO-SMOGS in Burlingame instead!! They offer a coupon online on their website for $26.70 + $8.25 and that's it! No up-charges, no hidden fees, no AA Smog tactical inconsistent pricing! I called PRO-SMOGS and the owner there confirmed that my out the door price for my vehicle would have been $34.95! That's a $10 savings ($10.05 savings to be exact)!! DO NOT GO TO AA SMOG. read more

We had a terrible experience here. The technician didn't inform us that we couldn't pass the smog check until after collecting our money. We will not return to this business. My wife found a coupon to go here for a smog check for $29.75. When I got there, the guy said there was an extra $10 charge for a star check. I said that wasn't stated anywhere on the coupon. He said yes it was, so I showed him the coupon. He looked and looked and finally said "See?" while pointing at where it said the cost was $29.75 'for most cars'. I said, "So? My car is part of 'most cars (I brought in a 2000 Honda Civic)'". He just looked at me and said the cost was $39.75 for my car. I drove out of my way from Pacifica to get there, so I just told him to go ahead and do it, but I hate it when I feel someone was dishonest with me. Had a smog retest. For no reason at all owner yells at me to take f...king coffee cup off counter. Shockingly I complied. On top of it he called me a f..king fish. Very racist!! Later he explained I didn't say good morning. He said I said hey only. No apologies. I politely let him do the retest (very shocked unable to think clearly) and later explained didn't pass. I went to the AA+ Smog because of its Yelp ratings. So I had high expectations. I was pleased that the comments on Yelp were so true. My beloved 1997 4Runner (I am the original owner) failed the test for the first time. Mohammed explained to me what may have caused the borderline number in one category while other all statistics were excellent. I decided to run the second test based on his analysis. It did pass the second test. He suggested me to check two possible causes for the borderline numbers. That I will do and have it fixed before too long. He is very professional and trustworthy. Several repair places tried to take advantage of me, "dumb middle aged women," despite the fact that I am mechanically inclined (I used to work on my own racing motorbikes).
