I noticed on the front desk computer that I was entered into the system as a drop-off, even though I was waiting for my vehicle. I always wait during appointments, and if that impacts how service is prioritized, it should have been confirmed when scheduling. I also noticed there appeared to be either a misunderstanding or scheduling issue with another customer who had an appointment after mine, which raised concerns about how appointments were being managed. When I asked for an update on the timing, the response I received felt dismissive. The employee responded that "nothing is ever a half an hour, not here, not any shop." I understand that estimates can change and that inspections may take longer than expected, but my concern was not that it took longer--it was that I was given an estimate, waited significantly beyond that timeframe, and had to ask for an update myself. The employee told me he would check on the timing and get back to me, but I did not receive an update afterward. Instead, he returned to the office and continued working with vehicles. Another employee also said he would check on the status and where the first employee was at, but I did not receive an update from him either. A simple update or revised timeframe would have gone a long way. The inspection, which was quoted at approximately 30 minutes over the phone, ultimately took about two hours and cost around $100. The findings included recommended back strut replacement, brake fluid service, and a battery replacement, with an estimated total of around $1,760. They also identified a bent rim, but I did not appear to receive a quote for that item despite requesting one. I have no doubt that their technicians have the knowledge and skills to diagnose and repair vehicles, and that expertise has value. However, expertise does not replace the need for clear communication and respect for a customer's time. I was hoping for a shop that values the customer's time as much as their own. Given this experience, along with pricing that appears to be higher than other shops I have compared in the area, I am uncertain whether I will return for future service. I hope the shop improves its scheduling process and communication with customers when delays occur. ******* Edit in response to their Google review commentary: It's worthwhile to note the company response below essentially argues pricing (which was never contested as explained in my above review). The pricing was provided for other individual's knowledge of business pricing and a stated reason for hesitation in repeated business. I went to one other business, not multiple as was stated in person and over the phone-- indicating a lack of clarity again with notation on client accounts more publicly-- and and was quoted half an hour of my time with no updated timeline despite two requests to one staff member as well as the owner, Jesse, who just walked away. The Argumentative and dismissive responses on the stated concerns in the severe lack of timing and communication are what have just ensured I do not return to this establishment and suggest others take a closer look at what shop they choose for the work on their vehicles.

I plugged my phone in and sat it on the table and got comfortable for a longer wait, but moments later, true to the 1.5 hour estimate, they said my truck was ready. They advised me of some sort of leak on the front axle, but told me to check with the dealership because it might be under warranty. I appreciate that. I'll definitely be back for future service.

Confident and relieved we'd found a "go to" mechanic in Phoenix, one month later the car began experiencing intermittent power steering outage issues. Our son (in college and alone far from home) immediately brought the car back in, but AMC essentially refused to pop the hood, or otherwise even look at the car "unless the driver could replicate the issue". Two weeks later power steering and AC completely failed on a busy highway (due to a leaking radiator hose that ultimately fried the alternator). Paid an additional $800.00 (plus towing) to a competitor to fix what AMC should've caught. Also, AMC hours are now M-Th and of course this emergency happened on a Friday. First time Yelp has led me astray. 9/9/2026 - Owner Gilberto immediately reached out on Yelp below apologizing and asking for submission of additional repairs documentation to handle the case "fairly". To be fair, I did not go into specifics of prior phone interactions with Gilberto - owner - after the car was first towed to AMC and the had to be retowed to another shop due to AMC's inability to handle after hours emergencies (eg., no closed parking, nor key drop or other available). While all calls with were professional and courteous, Gilberto was ultimately unhelpful and disappointing (leaving us with limited options). The fact that AMC refused to do anything after the car was brought in by our son (for scary warning signs similar to the original problems) just prior to a catastrophic (towable) failure on a busy roadway is what is unacceptable. Not saying AMC is a bad business, they just really blew it. For minor car maintenance (oil changes and tire repairs) AMC is probably great. For major car repairs go elsewhere in the valley, please.

I called them on a Friday at about 4PM. I asked JOEL if it was better to bring it in tonight or before they opened on a Saturday at 8AM. They said just show up tomorrow and we'll get to it as we can. I was there at 7:50 AM for a drop off. They did not contact me until 3PM on Saturday to say that they haven't fixed the AC yet but they have changed the full synthetic oil ($107 - $15 website coupon) and tested several other fluid with "corrosivity strips." Both the brake fluid ($125) and radiator coolant fluid ($170) tested "bad." I gave approval to move forward. Hey, I'm not a mechanic nor have access to these "magic testing strips." I received a call at 4:30 PM on the same day (Saturday) that the AC had been charged but the compressor is not coming on. It's too late to diagnose so we'll have to keep until Monday. Monday comes and I receive a call at 4PM when they said the AC compressor is dead. $1,284 to replace it. In for a penny, in for a pound. They claim the part is in town and can be received early enough on Tuesday to have it back to me. Tuesday comes and instead of a call saying your truck is done (in time for my Social Distortion concert which I made them aware of) they now say the entire system is "flooded with contaminants" and we'll need to replace the condenser and extension value. Now they have me over a barrel. No additional discounts are mentioned nor offered. I received word the truck was done at 5:45PM and to come pick it up in the next 15 minutes or wait until tomorrow. I took my truck in for AC service and oil change. I leave paying $3,394.16. Was it required? Again, only people with car maintenance knowledge can judge. Will I ever recommend them? Absolutely not. I'm pretty sure that I covered most of their costs to repair my truck over the 4 days they had it. They did not even thank me for my business. I really appreciate their communication process, including texted reports and photos of the work being done. So far, everything they've done has been straightforward and honest. When I've questioned their diagnostics or recommendations, Kirk has taken the time to explain things clearly and has even reached out to Jasper (the company that rebuilt my engine) just to help put my mind at ease. That level of follow-through means a lot, especially after a bad experience elsewhere. My one significant complaint is their shop fees. These charges aren't itemized as a "shop supply fee" or anything specific -- they just appear as a flat fee, and they're not disclosed anywhere in the initial quote. Most shops I've dealt with cap this type of fee around $50, but I was charged $90 on one occasion. Not listing this upfront feels misleading, and I think it's something customers should be made aware of before authorizing work. That said, trust in the actual mechanical work matters a lot to me, and this shop has earned that trust. Dashcam footage explicitly shows the vehicle running perfectly fine that morning while it was at another shop receiving an estimate. It was dropped off at North Mountain Auto two hours later. On 04/13/2026, the vehicle was pulled into their bay exhibiting no problems, yet it exhibited severe running issues immediately after their "repair." The vehicle was subsequently removed to a neutral third-party shop via a recorded and documented chain of custody on 04/27/2026, ensuring no claims of tampering could be made. Independent diagnostics have since confirmed catastrophic engine failure, including air passing through the piston rings and a 25% leakage around the exhaust valve on Cylinder 5. Far more concerning than the mechanical destruction is the actively documented fraud and attempted cover-up. Forensic dashcam video and telemetry data captured the shop engaging in billing fraud by charging for one type of product (Asian vehicle blue coolant) while explicitly using another. Furthermore, on 04/20/2026, approximately an hour before I arrived to pick up the vehicle, the mechanic is recorded stating to the front desk that he had already lost two days the prior week and five hours that current day on the car and was "done." Twenty minutes later, footage shows them manually overriding factory settings via the base idle set screw (BISS) in a deliberate attempt to hide over 30 documented engine stalls and doctor the vehicle just enough to collect payment. This override occurred on four separate occasions. Additionally, the intake plenum was removed. There is absolutely no reason for its removal during a water pump replacement other than assessing internal damage; it provides no extra room or access and is 100% unnecessary. Both the mechanic and the shop stated they hadn't "worked in that area," claiming the damaged wires and broken clips had nothing to do with their work, which the visual evidence explicitly contradicts. When the shop realized my dashcams automatically trigger upon movement or when the key is turned, they attempted to format the memory cards twice while the car was sitting in their bay: once on April 15th, and again after hours following a "stealth" repair on 04/22/2026. This constitutes direct spoliation of evidence to cover up their actions. When I reached out via text message, they immediately denied warranty coverage, blamed the car, and then blamed me. However, until this week, they had no knowledge that the dashcam footage was NOT actually deleted. If you're going to perform such acts, you may want to research the specific dashcam to know how to format it. Just saying. I have retained a 236GB forensic data drive documenting every action taken in their bay. Now that every legal and regulatory action has been filed and is underway, I am leaving my experience here to help prevent others from suffering the same fate. Do not trust this shop with your property. Billed $2282.49 for them to destroy the drivetrain.

They were mindful of the time I was working with to get it checked out (had to get my son from school that same day) and had it fixed in that time too. It cost the same for the fix as other places were charging just to diagnose the issue. I could tell immediately when I called that this was where I wanted to go because when I said the ac wasn't working, this was the first place to ask for context of what was going on. The other places I spoke to told me their (expensive) fee to diagnose. When I brought it in they offered a complimentary Lyft ride so I could wait at home. They texted me the repair details so I could approve it and then was able to come back just in time to get my son from school! I am so impressed at their kindness, honesty, process, and customer service! I rarely leave reviews but made a point to write this because they deserve it!
