Expect a bit of a wait, even if your order is small, uncomplicated or if you are the only customer. I usually order 2 koobideh and one chicken with rice and grilled tomato, and it usually takes 25 minutes. The person helping you will tell you how long it will be, and they are accurate. It's a tiny store inside of a rundown strip mall. Blink, and you could miss it. There is a bigger Persian restaurant in the next parking lot, but that's not what this is. This is a small store that has a few groceries and dry goods that is very specific to Persian cooking, a grill in the back, and they offer maybe 5 different things, and they do it well. It's all takeout, so don't expect to eat there unless you do what my partner and I do and bring a tray and eat that outside in our car with no shame and much happiness. They are renowned for their bread. I'm not a bread person, but it's reputed to be the best sangak bread you can get for miles, and it must be true because every time I go (which is only for the grill), there is always someone buying a bunch of fresh bread. The lady has a vibe that...I guess can be interpreted by some as unfriendly? but to me I just feel like front-end of a store does not seem to be her forte but that's small business for ya - she definitely seems to work really hard. I don't go there with any expectations for her personality, and that is fine. The food. It's good. Just go.

This is a hidden gem, kebabs were the best I've had in the Bay Area... and the food made fresh, along with the sangkak bread. This will be my new go to spot.

This place is one of the places I go when I'm feeling home sick. They make fresh sangak every day and also kabobs. You can get kale pache as well. Everything taste delicious but you have to take it to go as they don't have any seating areas. But hands down best koobideh in Bay Area!!!

We were looking for a certain baked good and did a search which led us to Aala Yazdi. While they did not have that particular baked good, they had other wonderful goodies! The lady helping us was so nice! They did not have the beef koobideh available yet so we ordered chicken kabobs. We ordered a portion of the sangak bread which was fantastic. Edges were crisp and the middle had a nice chew. It was amazing fresh, so we had to take nibbles while waiting for our chicken kabobs. We also bought sour cherry jam to enjoy with our sangak bread at home. The chicken was delicious. So juicy and flavourful. Will definitely come back - a little later in the morning, so we can try the koobideh and other kabobs. So happy we found this place!

Their food and bread is outstanding. Their kabob is out of this world good. The best around.

Their sangak was the real draw - a slightly sour, yeasty, soft, fluffy bread, similar to naan.

Well here you are, looking at Alpine Pastry and Cakes. Is this place good? Do I take a chance?…read more Will I be disappointed? Yes, it is very good Yes take a chance. You will not be disappointed. My wife and son are dessert snobs. Both have been to Paris and say France has the best pastries. But wait, they just came back from Alpine, and what did they say???? DELICIOUS!! They were smiling from ear to ear! They bought a carrot cake and an assortment of fresh and tasty pastries. And they even let me have a bite. It was so good! Sooooo, yes, try them. We've all had crappy deserts before. Move up to the big leagues and give Alpine a try!

Oh I hate to do this because they have done cakes for me in the past, but the call I just got off…read moreof was SUPER unpleasant. I called in today to see if they could decorate a faux cake for me. Not only was she rude, but she told me she would charge me AS MUCH AS SHE WOULD for a real cake. You mean to tell me it would cost me $100 plus to decorate a piece of Styrofoam? And then, when I told her the shape of the Styrofoam, she flat out said no. As if the shape of the Styrofoam changes the action? And I'm not a baker, at least not a professional one, but something feels off about what feels like the refusal to help me. And it's not like I am looking for free service, I'm willing to pay, but I'm not willing to pay cake prices for icing on Styrofoam. Saying no, as a business is OK, I'm all for it. But customer service needs a serious rebranding. I have never had a good in person/over the phone experience. Their food speaks for itself, but the customer service skills really takes away the value of a local business that has been around for years. I hope whoever I spoke on the phone with has a better day

My only concern is that the internet seems to go down fairly often. We've experienced it several times over the past few months. Other than that, the overall experience has been very positive.

What Happened to the Choco Bun?…read more Plenty of free parking. When you walk in, grab a tray and window shop all the pastries. They individually wrap these so grab what you want and place it on your tray. Once you're finished, cruise up to the counter. Would I Come Back? Yes, I keep coming back. I use to come back for the Choco Bun, but if they've changed the recipe at all locations, I'll only be coming back for the Milk Bun and Nougat. Their Signature Item: Egg tarts are their signature item. If you've ever been to an Asian party, someone almost always brings a box of egg tarts from 85-Degrees. But on today's visit. Well, just look at the photo. Someone stepped away from the oven for about 6 minutes too long. Choco Bun ($2.55, Grade D): The Choco Bun has been my absolute go-to for years--the closest location to me is usually the South Sacramento store and I tell everyone they have to get it whenever they visit an 85°C. Unfortunately, it's been about 8 months since my last trip, and the Choco Bun is no longer something to write home about. Milk Bun ($2.05, Grade A+): If you've ever had their Milk Bun with the custard filling, the Choco Bun used to be very similar in texture. Now, it's flat with super dry edges. Not good at all. Luckily, I also bought a Milk Bun (my usual second favorite), and by default, it's now my number one because the Choco Bun was a complete bust. It's so fluffy and sweet. Melts in your mouth. Strawberry Banana Smoothie / no boba ($5.85, Grade F): It was incredibly artificial-tasting--nothing real about it. I only made it through a quarter of it before throwing the rest into the garbage. My fault for hoping for a "just picked" fresh fruit taste, but this was honestly one of the worst smoothies I've ever had. Nougat ($9.60, Grade A+): The bagged Nougat candy is fantastic. It's soft, gooey, and packed with what I'm guessing are pieces of pistachio. Delicious, but a fair warning if you have dental issues: these will wreak havoc on your teeth. It's not quite as sticky as a Starburst, but it could definitely pull out a denture! Bottom Line: The staff here is friendly, and there are still a few standout 5-star items that make a visit worth it (the Milk Bun and the Nougat). However, the disappointing recipe change to the Choco Bun and the absolute miss on the smoothie knock this down to a 3-star experience overall.

I came with my family and I ordered 4 cookies: -Brown Butter Pecan 5/5: their number one seller and I can see why! Thin, soft, and loaded with buttery goodness in every bite. -Banana Pudding 5/5: This cookie surprised me. It was amazing! -Birthday Cake 4/5: This was a good cookie. It tasted just like a slice of birthday cake. -Tea Cake 3/4: This was my least favorite. The person who helped me described it as a Madeline flavor and it does taste like one. However, the cookie is very dense, which is why I didn't like it as much. Overall, the cookies are delicious and it is exciting to have such a great place nearby!
