if I could give it less that 1 star I would. rebuilt my transmission in January of 2023 and had nothing but problems afterward, transmission fluid always leaked from my pan, after going there 3 time for them to fix it Still had the same problem. they proceeded to blow me off until my warranty expired. It's been a bit since I received this Aamco shop's help with my transmission. I'd like to recommend them for their help and thoroughness in locating my issue and then repair. I'm used to going to a regular shop that has helped me for years, however transmissions were not something they could assist with. I had to be towed there right at closing time and was squeezed into their busy schedule. This was my first time with a repair of this kind and although it took longer than I expected, they were able to save my car. I have great admiration for creative mechanics and those that are truly willing to help. They were recommended to me by Pinellas Auto Services... since my problem was obviously (even to me) the transmission. I started on the phone with Sam and he made me feel comfortable in what tends to be a stressful situation for me. He keeps me updated on the negotiations with my insurance company. I feel he is definitely looking out for my best interest. The other folks I met there were friendly. Dave welcoming me in the shop and Bill driving me to Enterprise for a rental. They say I am defaming and defraud but just speaking the truth, they keep deleting my post, on google so i can not alert people and give them the truth. This place is unprofessional, dishonest, and untrustworthy, and unknowledable. I had to call the police to get my vehicle back, did a dispute with my bank, received my money back. After a week of #$&*, from these people, I got my vehicle back, worse than when I brought it to them. Took my vehicle down the road to JUST RITE Transmissions, these guys were very, professional, honest and trustworthy and very knowledgeable. I wish I would of brought my vehicle to these guys in the first place, they have a 4.7 review, that says it all. This aamco only has a 4.3. *RUN AWAY*. They had my car from March 27 to May 1. They took one week to diagnose my car, then ordered the WRONG part which took TWO weeks to arrive at the shop, INSTALLED the wrong part. Then took an another week to order the right one, install it and then find out its now working. We were told it would be under $4K. We arrived at the shop on April 27 to pick up the car only to be told it was going to be $5,348.29. When we asked about the charges the young man... we'll call him Steve, said he NEVER would have said under $4K. We went back and forth for a little bit and then took the invoice home and I called my family. My family is filled with master mechanics so they called this shop to ask about the charges. Steve was upset about the questions they were asking and threatened to put a LIEN on my car. My family said that's illegal since he just finished completing the repairs and if he tried it they would sue him. On Monday, May 1, 2023, my husband and I left work and arrived at the shop at 2pm. To test drive our car and pay Steve. Steve tells us no one is there to test drive the car and that he needs to call the owner to tell him we're here. He steps outside to make the call and when he returns he says the owner said I can Only pay CASH. I can't pay debit or credit, just CASH. And if we don't pay strictly in CASH, we can't take our car. I told Steve I've never heard of something like that and there's signs in the shop that says the only thing they don't take is checks, and that this is A LOT of money he wants me to take out: $5,348.29 to be exact. He then tells me if I have the money there should be no issue taking it out. Alluding to him saying I'm piss poor. We go get the cash out and return, Steve then tells us we can't test drive the car and we just need to pay and leave. Steve didn't give my husband a receipt. SO the kind gentleman who brought my car around went inside with me and grabbed Steve to have him give me my receipt. Steve goes "didn't I give it to you last week." Let's PAUSE for a second: if I didn't pay you until May 1, 2023 how did you give me my receipt last week, the week of April 27?! He told me he would print out an invoice and hand write that I paid in cash. I said no, you need to have a better method than that and I asked him if I'm the only person he's ever made pay in cash since he didn't have a protocol on how to give me my receipt. He said "no, but when someone says they're suing me." I cut him off and said "we're not talking about that. I'm asking for my receipt." He FINALLY prints out my receipt and I leave. This has been the most traumatic, horrific and expensive transaction of my entire life. I cannot express enough that you need to run away from this place. They're dishonest, disloyal and disrespectful. The amount of money we've lost in the past month is disgusting. From Uber rides, rental cars and then coughing up $5,348.29 in CASH. It's disgusting. I made an appt to have my car transmission/CTV ( in the 2015 Nissan is called CTV) checked out due to it seemed it was not functioning correctly. I was late for Saturday am appt and Sam was still able to get my car evaluated. He was caring, compassionate and took the time to answer my questions about what possible could be the malfunction components. He gave me the estimate on repair( rebuild and even the cost of tearing it and down and what my cost would be, if I decided not to repair also gave me several options for financing in the event that I did not have the cash readily available. I have had many vehicles in my life and have taken them to shops for random repairs. This truly has been one of the absolutely best because of the care, explaining of all the important facts was remarkable. He invoked my trust. "That's a lot for me." I brought my 2001 Mazda Miata into Aamco in Clearwater because the clutch master cylinder and the slave cylinder had failed. I had to actually have the car towed into the shop. Much to my surprise, Aamco absorbed the towing charge for me. The price was fair for the repair and Bill was extremely pleasant to deal with. And if that was the end of the story, I would be quite satisfied - but wait there's more. A month following the repair, the clutch acted up again. At first I figured that there was a failure with the parts they installed. I began driving to the shop to return the car. The clutch gave out entirely and I was stranded on the side of the road. We pushed the car off the road and again the car need to be towed into the shop. Long story short, I called Aamco from the side of the road and again the car was towed into their shop. It turns that one of the lines leading to the master cylinder failed completely. This was NOT a part they had replaced. It was simply a failure of a hydraulic line on my old Miata. Once they looked at it and determined that it was a failed line, I fully expected to pay for the repair work as well as the towing into their shop. Much to my surprise, when I went to pick up the car, there was NO CHARGE! Seriously, these people care about customer service! I normally cringe when I think about transmission repair shops. Well let me tell you, my experience at Aamco in Clearwater was over the top excellent! Far better all the way around than I ever imagined. I paid $3200 in mid January 2019 to have my transmission rebuilt. I have had to return my 2008 Ford Escape 6 times to these idiots, the first 5 time the trans started leaking and running badly usually within 9 days. The last time I was getting engine light codes, all due to the transmission. I towed the vehicle to the shop for the second time in six visits. I was told it would be in the shop 5 days; we are currently on day 15. I will say that AAMCO has honored the warranty every time, and the last 2 visits I had them put me in a rental car, No cost to me. But seriously, you bill yourself as a Transmission Specialist, and someone has to return the vehicle 6 times in six months. I have contacted AAMCO corporate office, and received no response from them. Do yourself a BIG FAVOR and take your vehicle elsewhere... I am still waiting on my vehicle. STAY AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN ....Today I got really rip-off (Amoco in Clearwater) I when to these guys because they could fix it now ....First lie 5 days later and $3100, they had some great reviews ...What a mistake #2, I had stop in a local Transmission shop by me and was told that (ALL I NEEDED WAS a shift solenoid & maybe a filter) but they couldn't get to it until next week ...this vehicle is my work truck and needed it ASAP...So I know I should have just waited -...but the guys at Amoco seemed to be a trustworthy shop ...Mistake #3 ....Frist thing I drove the truck in to the shop and wanted them to check it and replace shift solenoid & filter ...He quoted me between $1700 and $3500 I told him I was willing to go for $1700 but no higher ...being the other place said $1200 total ...so a day later they call and informed me it was going to cost $3100 and the tyranny had to be overhauled (NOTE- I DROVE IT IN) I told him that was a little high and would like to have another estimate done ..His responses was OK... I can put the tyranny parts in a box and you can tow it away ..What!!!! ..... he said the tyranny has too many "broken Parts" and he could not put it back together (AGAIN I DRIOVE IT IN) I asked him to just replace the shift solenoid & Filter his reply was no can't do the tyranny has to many broken parts (AGAIN I DROVE IT IN) SO the bottom Line These guys are a rip-off shop they only wanted to overhaul it ...their game is to out right lie to you and right to your face that you need more then is needed... When I left the shop and my truck ..I stood outside the place for a few minutes and really wanted to just go back in and get the truck and wait for the local place to do it...I didn't Mistake #4 ....Should have went with my gut feeling ....these guys are just a rip-off shop ..I did get the shift solenoid & filter replaced and a hole lot of other items I don't even think was needed, So if you want a trustworthy shop to work on your car or truck DO NOT GO HERE read more

Horrible experience and I don't even have my car back yet. They were suppose to rebuild my transmission and broke other things, they had my car for 2 months and finally had to hand it over to Ford to fix and CLEAN because the inside was filthy from grease. It's still broken and everyone is shrugging on who should fix it. It has problems it never had before. My husband has called them countless times for the 2 months constantly being told that the person working on my car was not there or that there was another problem and of course would never get a call back. They messed with the odometer on our car and tried to return it with an additional 20 THOUSAND miles, and offered to put a sticker on it saying it was inaccurate! I'm so serious! I see they have some great reviews but our experience has been horrid. They also have not provided a rental car. I have never heard of anything like this! Update: my husband was told today by Aamco that they won't fix or pay to fix anything else they damaged. They also tried to act like they did us a favor by not charging us for replacing parts THEY broke while rebuilding the transmission. There's no question that the problems started in their care. The day before we brought it to Aamco we had it at Ford who have records of any issues with the car. Our mistake was taking it to Aamco because of a recommendation. Update: I see the owner replied to my google review. I want to say that a few weeks before I posted this review I read the reviews on google and saw that the owner replied to other unhappy customers and left and email so I emailed him at that address. I received no reply and figured the email wasn't current but now I see that it is and my email was ignored despite "reaching out directly". Also, after not receiving a reply and being told by Mark at AAMCO that they will not fix our car and that we are expecting too much ( for them to fix what they damaged), my husband asked for the owners contact information. Mark refused to give my husband the owners information and told him that the owner "doesn't talk to people." We have since contacted corporate and will move forward from there. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would!! I took my car there in May 2018 and explained to Mark what my problems were and they quoted me $430 to fix. I then realized my extended warranty was still in effect and they got authorization to repair and the bill was then only $199!!! (immediate red flag) then in October the same issues occurred and I spoke to Bill and took back in and he said I think this needs more evaluation and I cleared all of the codes and if it happens again bring it back. Well the same issues happened again in December and I took it in and they had it for 3 days before even looking at it all the while I am paying for a rental. They finally called me and said it was ready (no explanation of what they did mind you) and 10 minutes later was having the same issues as before. After leaving 5 messages I finally received a call from Bill stating that it sounds like an electrical issue and to take it to the dealership because they cannot do that type of repair. When asked why I was never told that from day 1 all I got was the run around about how he knows how frustrated I am. Well guess what he has no clue. I will NEVER take my car there again and I suggest nobody else does either because you will regret it. I have already been in contact with the Corporate Customer Experience Director who will be contacting the franchise owner regarding this issue. I wish I had never taken it there. lesson learned. read more

I took my Mom's 2009 Corolla into the 201 S MLK Jr Ave location based 100% on Yelp reviews. Yelp did not let me down. They were busy, but you'd expect that to be the case. The staff was very nice, and I am confident they were fair and trustworthy in their work. My Mom's Corolla had a check engine light come on. She took it to a Firestone dealer that she know's very well and has treated her well for years. They said it was the transmission and they were "guessing" it would be a $2500.00 fix or more. They said they could reset the light but it would just come back on. My Mom told me about the light and Firestone so I went to AAMCO for a second opinion. I had them change the oil and transmission fluid and asked for a diagnosis on the check engine light. They were VERY reasonable about the price on the fluids/filter. As far as the check engine goes, they diagnosed it as a "TCC" fault code. Beyond that they weren't sure of how bad it was. To them the "TCC" that just meant that there was a mechanical problem inside the transmission and they wouldn't really know how much work was needed unless they actually tore into it. Having changed motors and transmissions in high school, I'm moderately educated on the subject. So I consider that a very fair comment from them. We left it at that, I don't want to fix it, I'd rather find her a new car. Regardless, I trust them and would go to them again. read more
