Not sure why this business has more than one star, they are obviously lying and manipulating their reviews. My husband bought our car here to get fixed  (before doing due dilegence on the shop) after he got a diagnotics to see what the problem was and the man over the phone told him "If you drop your car off this morning, I can get it back to you by end of the day". Well.... that same day turned into 3 days with no real update on the progress of the car. My husband called numerous time for the status of the car and was not getting an clear answer on if the car was fixed and ready for pick up. So my husband goes to the shop to get our car back because AAMCO has no customer service and the car is obviously not being worked on properly, if at all. When my husband arrives the man at the front asks the mechanic, "should we let him take the car"? ............ its our car and if the car has not been fixed or cannot be fixed by your mechanics, give the customer his keys and apologize for the inconvience. After my husband is forced to pay over $800 just to get the car back for work that has not even been done (as we already knew they were giving us the run around the past few days) he drives the car and it is driving worse than how he took it in Severice engine light still on! My Husband calls the shop and tells them and the guy on the phone says that the car will need to get more work done............. After having it for 3 days with NO updates and when my husband paid, they didnt mention "additional work". Luckily, we end up connecting with a professional and trusted car mechanic who showed us the parts under the engine that were supposed to have been new parts and replaced by AAMCO but, as we figured from their lack of integrity and professionalism, were not. The new mechanic we went to did the actual work on our vehicle and we were able to notice the difference immediately once driving. This same job took less than 6hrs where as AAMCO deliberately held our car for 3 days, and would have been longer if my husband didnt go to the shop to get the car. Moral of the story is that this location AAMCO is a joke within the car repair industry and this location in particular is ran by insideous LIARS THEIVES SCAMMERS!  Do yourself a favor and stay clear of this place and DO NOT BELIEVE ANY GOOD REVIEW because 9/10 it is a LIE! read more

First time I TOOK it in a month after they had worked on my car and they said my car LOOKED FINE AND nothing was wrong with the transmission, second time on 3-13-23 again for them to recheck it, my car 2 days in the shop with them for them to say its a NEW wire causing the driving gear to not send all the electric and made me pay $150 extra, day after car acting worse not wanting to drive at all. AAmco on Irving Blvd in Dallas has scammed me. I tried to resolve in every way possible but the owner, Rahim, has now told me to "take him to court & sue him." The corporate AAmco can't do anything because every location has a franchise owner. My car jerks when coming to a stop and when in low rpm's but worked perfectly normal at rpm's above 2 and on long stretched roads or highways. My car was diagnosed 11/21/2022. I paid the $135 diagnostic fee 11/23/2022. David the GM stated another transmission would fix the problem. I paid $2562 on 12/1/22 (1,102.11 on my card and $1,324 cash) once I got the call that the new transmission was installed. I took it back on 12/2/22 at 8am and a mechanic drove it while I rode, and he felt the new vibrating that wasn't there prior to as well as the jerk. He spoke to David about it in another language. I brought it back 12/12/22. David stated they tried everything & my car was fixed but it started to do the same thing after letting it sit for a while. My vehicle was picked up on 1/13/23 around 3:44pm and the issues are still there. I called David that day at 5:03pm & told him but he said my car is jerking due to my tires & if I get stock tires they will reset my sensors & that will fix the problem. 1. I brought my car in for my jerking problem diagnosis 11/22 2. New transmission 12/1 3. Jerk continued. David stated they tried everything and reset codes but it the problem came back within hours 4. 1/23 another transmission but the jerk is still there. Contacted corporate. 5. I was told it was my tires. 6. Changed my tires at my expense & AAmco reset the codes stating if it persists I could get a refund. 7. I got my car back and there was Twinkie papers under my seat & jerk persisted 8. Rode with the Tech 2/10 who felt the jerk but he doesn't think it was ever the transmission 9. I called Rahim for a refund who stated the tech and David said my car doesn't have any issues and "to take him to court & sue him." read more

But I guess acting like it did before it was broke, is the goal... For me being without my truck was a big deal, so they put a rush on it, pushed me in front of some others and came in thru crummy weather to get me fixed.... Had a good experience here. Staff was friendly. Had to fix my 2017 Silverado after only a few years and the dealer wanted close to 6k to replace the transmission and reprogram it. Went to AAMCO in Dallas after asking a friend of mine, and I've moved to a different area so my normal place to go was out of the question as its now too far away for me, plus the truck didn't move. Had it towed here and it was about 2k less than what the dealer was asking and it works perfect. Found a new place in a new part of town. Thanks fellas! read more

They checked out my Jeep free of charge and never tried to upsell anything to me. If there was an option for negative stars I would give that. This place was an absolute nightmare for me. On my way to work my car completely overheated and began to smoke. I looked up and there was AAMCO, I thought I was lucky. I pulled in explained the issue, and got a coworker to pick me up. Turned out I needed a new radiator and thermostat, I really thought it was my water pump but I was reassured by David that it was fine. He told me it would be $875, and that was flat out devastating and just not within my budget. So I called shops near by and was told way more in the range of $650 - &700. So when I told David I was taking it elsewhere he said he would match $675. I thought why not? He also told me it would not drive at all so I had no option. After picking it up the temperature didn't exceed halfway but wasn't really stable. A week later, exactly, I was on the side of the highway with the same issue. I was furious but with a warranty I thought I'd be fine. So I get the car towed back where I'm told that this time it's my water pump and it'll be $475. I asked how could this be it was fine a week ago and David said "well you put 600 miles on it from then till now." Completely false, that's rediculous. So I called around again and found a place LESS THAN A MILE AWAY that would do it parts and labor for $225. That's 2 times they tried to overcharge me by more than $200 dollars. I told David I would pick it up to take it elsewhere the next day and he said fine. The next morning when I came to get my car IT HAD BEEN BROKEN INTO AND I LOST ITEMS TOTALING TO ABOUT $350. My insurance isn't great and my deductible won't even help with any of this, and there's not a lot of chance of any of my things being returned. When I told David about this he came and looked and didn't even apologize. He said "this is a first." And that there wasn't any cameras because they were new to the location. My car was right out front, this place will block there exits and entrances with cars because they literally have no room. When I got my car towed there for my second visit, David didn't try and help my tow truck driver whatsoever with where to put the car, saying "I mean where ever it will fit." Seemingly annoyed because my car was doing the exact thing again they fixed already. I never got any type of apology for my car getting broken into let alone some form of responsibility being taken for it in the first place. I did however get quoted ridiculous amounts and completely taken advantage of with shotty work. This place is the mechanic shops people warn people about. read more

Brought in a Jeep with a diesel engine as their website says they are Sprinter experts. (same engine and trans set up) I needed to know why the torque converter won't lock up. They diagnosed it as a faulty wheel speed sensor, so they replaced the entire hub. I suggested that just the sensor be replaced, but they told me the whole hub had to be replaced (not true). Being from out of town, I acquiesced. Interestingly, there were no codes indicating this in the ABS module when I brought it in. This repair ($500) did not resolve the issue. My transmission was toast due to age and the TC slipping, but the end recommendation was to replace the torque converter to the tune of about $3500. The cheaper option was to install a used one for about $2500. They couldn't find a used transmission (but I did, in Odessa and I live about 1000 miles from here) and had it installed in Odessa.. (total cost about $1500) Their pricing seems opportunistic. $500 to swap out a TCC solenoid (maybe $60 retail), 4.5 quarts of atf (Maybe $45 retail) and a filter kit (Maybe $25 retail) is on the "I got you by the short hairs" pricing for an hours work. read more

Find somewhere else! I took my car here in November based strongly on the positive reviews on Google and on Yelp. Either these reviewers are liars or something has drastically changed at Aamco. I took my car there in Nov., after having my car for almost two weeks, it was finally done. This is after being told for several days, "it'll be tomorrow". This did not fly with my husband but I convinced him to keep his cool as I was sure this type of repair took time. When I went to pick up my car with a 'new' re-built transmission, the manager, David, drove it out and immediately noticed there was something wrong with the fluids. I waited there an additional hour or so while they tried to fix whatever that was. I drove it for a week and the transmission was still not repaired as it was slipping in a out of gear. We paid $2,300 for this repair. I took it back in at least two times and was told they couldn't get to it right away and to just drive it for the time being. I did so because I couldn't afford to be without a car for another two weeks. I finally took it back shortly before Christmas, when my husband had vacation time and we could carpool. They had the vehicle for over two weeks this time. Again, it was the same "it'll be tomorrow" line or "we had to order a part" or "we had to bring someone else in". At one point, they finally flat out admitted they didn't know what was wrong. The vehicle is a 2004 and has 70,000 miles on it. Finally, it was fixed. Yesterday, while my husband was driving the car to Austin, it started smoking and leaking red fluid. It cost us about $150 to have it towed back to Aamco. I will now have to rent a car because I can't afford to not have one but just to rent a car for a week will be at least $200. The manager, David, said he would have Rahim, the owner call us and told us he doesn't get in until about 11am on Monday. At this point, that is not good enough for us. For the last 3 months our car has been in and out of their shop and is still not fixed. We've had phone calls go unreturned, had employees lie to us as to what the status of our car was, had David do Rahim's dirty work. This is probably the most dissatisfied I have ever been with any company ever. In the beginning, I appreciated David's help and what seemed like great knowledge of transmissions. Now, I just think they are liars. The lot is full there but I'm not sure if any of the cars are getting repaired. I know mine still isn't. Hopefully this will be read by someone and you can avoid all of the trouble I have experienced. The repairs are covered by warranty but I can't imagine all the money they are losing having to now fix my car for the 3rd time. A good business would have excellent communication with their customers but this one doesn't. read more

Best transmission service I have found in town...definately keeping their number in my phone...no complaints... I had a truck that is plagued with transmission issues...been through two replaced by dealership, and not recently I lost two gears going up 75....after making a few phone calls to people in the know...they recommended this shop in particular...I had my truck towed (comp'd with service) and left it there to get a quote...two business days later they had one ready for me, and I went up to get the paperwork out of the way...they have so much business they are parking vehicles next door, it's kinda crazy...They need a bigger location... Anyway, the staff is awesome..busy, but nice guys willing to help you out and explain things...they actually took me through the decision of replacing, vs fixing, and saved me some cash... Having a broken down vehicle sucks, it's stressful anyway you look at it and you just want it taken care of...it's all you can ask and the folks at Aamco took care of me! read more

Here's the timeline of my recent visit to Aamco and some details as to why I'm writing a 1 star review. "I'll call you in 30 minutes" was the line of the day today. 5 hours later I took my car elsewhere. Here goes: 9am: I take my 1995 Del Sol (OBD1 computer, this is an important fact) to have the transmission checked out. 9:30am: I get picked up by my ride. Tony, the general manager, says he should have the problem diagnosed and he'd call me in 30 minutes. 10:56am: 86 minutes after leaving I had not received the call in 30 minutes. I call Tony. He says, "My guy has it in the garage, I'll call you in 30 minutes." 12:28pm: Again, no call after 30 minutes. Another hour and half later, I call to get an update, he says his mechanic has it in the garage and is still trying to figure stuff out. "I'll call you in 30 minutes" he says. 1:15pm: Still no call from Tony, so I decide to call again. He says it's in the garage but his mechanic is at lunch, but he'd call the mechanic on his cell and "call me right back". I was tired of waiting to get called back so I decide to go there in person to see the problem. 1:49pm: My car is sitting outside the garage, not in it. Tony brings his mechanic in and says, "This man has been waiting all morning to get his transmission diagnosed and you haven't done it." To which the mechanic yells, "I can't do it! I can't find the OBD2 computer!" Of course he can't find the OBD2 computer, because the car is a 1995 and has an OBD1 computer. I assume he spent the morning trying to find a computer hookup that did not exist. Tony then tells me to take a ride with the mechanic in the car so he can see what the problem is. I tell him I don't have time because my ride is waiting outside. Here's what made me finally decide to leave. Tony looks at me and says, "Look I had 30 cars in here this morning, I put you in front of alot of people." To which I replied, "All I wanted was for you to call me when you said you were going to." Tony replied, "Well you've been calling me every 5 minutes." I immediately asked for my keys and took the car to a different transmission shop. I understand auto shops can get really busy and backed up. However, telling someone you'll have it figured out in 30 minutes then not calling for hours is unacceptable customer service. Had Tony told me, "We're really busy, I won't really know anything until later this afternoon," the situation would have been different. All I wanted was a little honesty and better communication. I ended up getting disrespected in a situation that did not warrant such treatment. That's why Aamco is getting a one star review. read more

Same experience as Stacie, Leslie and SB! Bad service, they broke my AC and never called to let us know if my car was ready. They didn't fix the problem we took our car in for. And, they had our car from Saturday to Thursday to supposedly fix the original problem that was causing the whiny noise. When my husband called to find out the status they said our car was ready so we picked it up, started the car and it was the same whiny noise that we took it in for. We turned around and went right back, then they claimed it was the alternator. We had already returned the rental car because they told us it was ready so my husband missed work waiting for them to fix it. After the alternator was replaced, supposedly, we noticed the air didn't come through the vents. The mechanic told us they didn't recalibrate the system after they disconnected the battery. So they broke the mode actuator. Of course we expected them to fix it, but some very rude, seemed-to-be-clueless guy named David refused to fix it. If they could get money from the warranty company they would supposedly fix it, but since the warranty company knows the air worked before it went in and AAmco broke it, they recommended we take our car to a dealership where someone else had to fix what they broke and we had to dish out money! read more

I recently took my car to AAMCO on Inwood, and I had a horrible experience. I strongly recommend that you find somewhere else to take your car, unless you don't ever need it back, and you want an incorrect diagnosis. My vehicle developed a strong gasoline smell in the passenger cabin. I was very concerned about the safety risk, so I wanted to take it to somewhere near my work. I called AAMCO from work at about 11am on a Friday to see if they could take a look at my vehicle when I could leave work at 3:30. The manager, David, I believe, agreed and said that they would have time to look at it then. I arrived at 3:30, and I was asked if I could leave my car overnight so they could look at it on Sat. I reluctantly agreed, concerned that the parking areas were so crowded with vehicles that I had to park next door at Metro PCS. The manager told me that they closed at 1pm on Sat, and I stated emphatically that I really needed them to look at it and at least diagnose the problem before closing on Sat. The manager agreed, and said he would call me Sat morning after the mechanic had taken a look at it. By 11am on Sat morning, I had not heard anything, so I called AAMCO. The manager answered and said that he would call me right back. At noon, I still had not heard from the manager, so I called back. He placed me on hold, and after a lengthy wait, he came back on the line and asked if he could call me back. I refused, so he told me that there was a crack in my gas tank, and that I had been "driving a bomb." He said that he had been calling around trying to find a replacement gas tank, and that he needed to talk to me more about it, so he would call me back when he could turn the phones off after 1pm. I agreed. I never heard back from him. On Monday at 8am, I walked into the AAMCO office on Inwood. The manager immediately started making excuses for not calling me back, saying that his tech was going to look at the car this morning. As I glanced outside, one of the AAMCO techs climbed into my car, which was parked directly outside of the service bay, and proceeded to drive out on to Inwood and out of sight. I told the manager that I wanted my car back so I could take it somewhere else that had time to look at it. After making more excuses, he said that it didn't matter if I left, there would be another car right behind me needing service. He was extremely unprofessional, and never apologized for the delay or for never calling me back. Five minutes later, the tech returned my car. I drove my car directly to a nearby mechanic shop, who immediately looked at it, diagnosed the problem as a broken part on the sending unit of the fuel pump (not a cracked gas tank), replaced it, and fixed the problem. The manager here is a liar, completely unprofessional, evasive, and rude. Don't even consider going here. read more

Extending high commendation to those nice folks at Aamco for the clutch replacement on my car. The service took less time than what was quoted. The price was in line w/ the estimate provided. The car performs awesome now. Not many mechanics will work on a 37 year old Mazda RX-7. This shop embraced it as if it were their own. Service advisor David even called me a week after the work to be sure the car was driving to my satisfaction. If you love your car trust any work it needs to this shop. read more

I have had David & Rahim replace transmission (rebuilt) on two of my Acura's. I am a repeat customer; once in April of 2012 on my first Acura 3.0, and most recently in October of 2014 on my present Acura TL. Most recently my repair bill was $3800! Long story short, I was not pleased with the work, felt I was being given the run around, my car was damaged and dirty (grease stains everywhere). I was not happy. Rahim was a gentleman and went above and beyond to make things right. My Acura seems to be running fine some 3 weeks after I picked it up. These guys did criminally horrible work, kept my car for 3 months, lied to me about having a lifetime warranty on the transmission, and took almost $4000 from me. The transmission stopped working less than 100 miles later. I took the car to a reputable company that told me that parts were put in backwards, improperly, or missing. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! Terrible service and they will damage your car and tell you that it's been there before you dropped it off. I went to pick up my car and I noticed a huge scratch on the side of my car. The backseat was full of oil from their dirty clothes and they left their dirty work rags in my car. I took pictures and cleaned my car out. Think I'm gonna drive around in a dirty oily car? No, I have kids that ride back there. I went back to the shop the next day to confront them and showed the owner my pictures. He denied everything saying I never should've cleaned my car out because the evidence was gone. Unbelievable. We got into a shouting match in front of the building. The only thing he apologized for was the dirty rags but apparently everything else can no way be connected to his stupid shop. read more

This is the worst place ever! Please people do not use this place. Everything about it is horrible! Me and my fiancée experienced the worst community ever from this place. They kept my car for over three weeks and kept messing it up and lied after finally nor fixing it completely. Also they claim that my car was vandalized while on their property and didn't tell us til later after calling repeatedly to inquire why it wasn't finished for repairs that were under my warranty. Lies, dishonest, non professional and no respect for others time. Also, on two occasions Nader given a printed receipt only one emailed one after asking repeatedly for my copy. They need to close this place down and fire the shop manager first by the name of Tony and his inadequate staff. He communicated well when they needed my money and business for 3000.00 worth of work asked me to do a yelp review for a great job solicit the heck out of me, but once I wrote the first one I could t get any feedback concerning my car messing up again and a receipt. Terrible. Brought my truck in to address an oil leak, which they said they could fix "today if not tomorrow". It ended up in their shop for over a week, and also cost about 4 times the initial amount quoted. Not only did they not actually fix the leak, but tools and equipment of mine was stolen from my truck while it was there. When I confronted them about my things that were missing, I got the story that 'the guy who controls the camera system isn't in today'. This went on for about a week and I gave up. What they charged me nearly $3800 to NOT fix, was repaired (in one day) by an honest mechanic for $450. I would suggest that no one brings their vehicle here read more

NO STARS FOR AAMCO DISHONEST AND INCOMPETENT Unfortunately I am REALLY UNABLE to GIVE ANY STARS to Aamco on Inwood Road. We took our Lincoln Navigator (which has never had a problem and has been basically maintained with oil/filter/lube) in (April 2014) for possible transmission issues. It was suggested we needed to have our transmission rebuilt. We trusted what we were told and let them go forward with the rebuild and replacement of spark plugs which was just shy of $4,000.00. We were told repairs would take approx 4 days. Two weeks later the car was ready. The first day or so it was ran okay. Then the problems began: a grinding feeling, skipping, shaking, a grinding roaring sound and finally the engine light began coming on. This weekend the engine light came on and has remained on. Since we picked the car up we have taken it back twice and were told no problems were found. At one point I had one of the guys drive with me. The issue appeared but was mild compared to what we had been experiencing. That mechanic thought what was going on was another issue that they could fix...I can't remember what he sort number of threw out as price point for that repair. A week ago I was on the freeway 45 minutes outside Dallas my daughter kept looking at me worried about the grinding and noise the car was making, then the check engine light came on. I called aamco, David answered the phone, I explained the issues again, and my concern for this ck engine light that was on and asked if the car was safe, would it blow up...he answered by saying he needed to put me on hold because he had another customer on the phone. I could not believe this are you kidding me! He put me on hold. I waited and waited and waited and finally hung up. He knew who I was, but never called me back. Never called my husband...David made the choice to just let it go. My husband went aamco a day or two ago. David went into a dissertation about the work they did, the warranty, how they need to check out the issues...did not want us to take the car to the dealership for a second opinion ... I am afraid for these guys to touch the car, if they do check it out I think I will pay an attorney and expert mechanic to stand by while this is being done. I trust these folks about as far as I can throw them...and I throw like a girl. I wish we had not ever made the mistake of taking our car to aamco on inwood. I think we should get our money back. My final conclusion is this: aamco has RUINED our car. We are out close to 4,000.00. We will probably just have to get rid of the car and buy a new car. I am more than upset and I plan to call the BBB, home office of aamco, and any regulatory entity I can find to report the unethical business practices the owner and employees of this franchise choose to participate in. Hopefully whoever reads this as well as the other truthful reviews will steer clear of aamco on inwood. read more

This place was great! I needed to leave town the next day and my "service engine soon" light had just lit up. I called them and was able to drive over for an appointment immediately. Aamco could not obtain the needed parts for this particular transmission so we purchased a new transmission from GM and had it delivered to Aamco. They installed it but when we picked up the vehicle, our tech noticed a noise from underneath that was not there when we dropped of the vehicle. Manager David stated he did not need to hear the noise as from description, it must need new motor mounts. We then waited for a few weeks to pick up the old transmission to obtain our credit from GM. When the transmission was delivered to the dealership, the GM parts assistant asked where the 4 plugs were as he must have them to obtain credit. I advised Aamco GM David of the situation and his reply was "we have never been asked for those plugs back and they just don't want to give you your credit" but he would see if he could obtain the plugs back from the person they sent the transmission to for rebuilding (I called another GM dealership and they verified they must have the plugs to ship the transmission). After not hearing from David for 5 more days, I called and he stated he had tried to call back (but didn't) and his rebuilder did not have the plugs to return. I asked what I should do to get my credit, David's reply was to "my only suggestion is to raise hell with the dealership". read more

Absolute worst place in Dallas to get your car fixed! Do not expect the truth from the guy who answers the phone he knows nothing about cars and will just give you the run around (Dustin) his customer service skills are poor as well using words like freakin. The owner (Rahim) seems to be competent he actually will give you the run around with better grammar. (David) is just as bad he is just going to tell you what you want to hear. They get one star cause you have to put something and if you have them service you GOOD LUCK I hope your insurance will cover your rental cause you are going to need it. read more

The WORST place in Dallas to take your car!! DO not bring them business they stink at customer service. They do not update and they never follow up much less provide status or return calls! They have had my car for almost a month, and still keep saying "it will be tomorrow". Unbelievable.. I did notice every yelp from a girl says the same things... hmm we may be on to something here.
