I don't recommend this place to anyone. Customer service is horrible, However, If you still plan to go, watch out for Randy (mgr) Make sure you get a quote in writing. He's brain can't do numbers. Bad experience ! Don't go Front desk seems helpful and nice to get you to come in , yet when you ask a question or a concern Frank looks at you as if your asking a dumb question . I was told some nuts and bolts were loose under the car and when I refused to get another service they requested to get done ,they were kind enough to not tighten anything under the car Thanks guys ! My transmission slips and accelerates at times that's the reason for the service they apparently did work but car seems the same They charged me more then 500.00 to flush out oil put in new and change a gasket. My experience was good. The customer service was very good. I was not fully satisfied with the delays working with my service plan. I felt they were a bit too busy to expedite the service my car needed. Other than that they were good. I would still recommend them and would use their service in the future if I need them. read more

My Nephew went to this place for a diagnostic. They got a real nice scam going for people that don't know too much about cars. My nephew took his car here and At first they told him that they do free diagnostic. Then they told him that they need to drop the transmission to investigate further and they charge $1400 to further diagnose. Then they said he needed a whole new transmission and they wanted to charge $6800. I was very upset when I heard this because any mechanic can simply scan for codes, check the trans oil and drive a vehicle to know if it needs to be replaced. That's how they hook people in. They feel obligated because they feel that they are already invested. And if you decide to go somewhere else they basically made $1400 for an hour worth of work. I am a car dealer and I deal with mechanics on a regular basis. I feel sorry for anyone that goes here. Scammers. We ended up calling the police and even the police were floored by how much they were charging. They don't have their hourly labor rate posted either. Most mechanics have that posted read more

On May 12, 2022. Last year my car had been acting up really badly. A friend referred me to AAmco. My friend said he heard AAmco was a great shop to take vehicles to. Trusting his judgment, I took my car to AAmco. I took my car in for an estimate and got a call a day later. My transmission did go out and had to be replaced, they had our car for a week and a half. I had to put so much down and had to pay the remaining balance when the car was finished. Well, a couple of weeks later after receiving the car, it started having problems, didn't know what was going on, until a friend referred us to get the car checked out again by two other mechanics that our car wasn't properly fixed, and we were in need of another transmission. As of now, we don't have a car at all, it's sitting in our garage, we were told that our vehicle is dead. We were ripped off! We paid 5k to get our car fixed and it wasn't fixed, the mechanics at AAmco don't know what they are doing! They touched parts of our car they weren't supposed to touch! The owner has a bad attitude, and is rude! We can't believe we don't have a car anymore, we are a one-family car, we don't have a car anymore, this is unacceptable! Right now we are in the process of taking them to calms court, were demanding a full refund! This should have never happened! If you know cars, you should know what to do! Don't pretend to know cars! I was told i needed a new clutch but I did not believe that so took it to AAMCO Downey and got a second opinion. They checked it out quickly and told me my car was fine. I spoke with Randy (manager) who never stated to me that he would charge me 875.00 dollars for inspection and differential for my vehicle. The shop never gave me a written estimate for my vehicle as well. I dropped off my truck and Randy told me it would be ready in two days. Seven days later, my truck was finally ready. When I picked up my truck, there was grease on the passenger side that was never cleaned. read more

Stay away from this business... they lie and cheat.. paid $5000 for a full rebuild of my transmission with a 6month warranty it died shortly afterwards .... No help with Corporate as each shop is privately owned they are not responsible for what each shop does .... I went to the AMCO in Downey I had a problem with my transmission and they were rude and then they said they had to do a diagnosis on my on my car and said the diagnosis said that there was something wrong with the engine that it needed a tune-up and then they'd have to do another diagnosis to find out what's wrong with the transmission they charged me $360 to do the diagnosis and then they said they would have to do the tune-up first they wanted to charge me almost $1,000 for a tune-up I went to Pep Boys and got a tune up for $250 these guys are rip-off artist read more

We need a timing belt fixed and this place said they won't do it because they need to observe the belt and they don't use customers part. It's fine!!! We will take our business else where. They have little to no customers 10AM today and say to leave the car over the weekend that's all bullshit it can be done. Buyer Beware.... Run turn around and go somewhere else. I took my 2005 Honda Accord, they charged me an arm and a leg just to get a diagnosis of my Transmission. When I picked up my car they told me they fixed my transmission, now my alternator need to be exchanged as soon as possible, I told them there was nothing wrong with my alternator. I drove my car home and it would not turn on again, I called AAA to give me a jump, purchased a new battery, replaced the alternator. AAMACO disconnected my connection from the alternator to the battery. They're dishonest and misleading. I will Never go to an AAMCO ever, I spoke to the owner and he was Very rude to me... I want to start off by thanking Randy for getting my 2018 Ford Explorer running again! I had reached out to him last week, explained over the phone that my car was shaking too much when i had my foot on the break and that all the sudden it wouldn't turn on anymore. I had my car towed to the shop. He gave me a diagnostic that he had to bring down the transmission and check out the electrical . I mentioned to him that I'm currently going though a financial hardship, I explained my situation to him, he was very understanding and empathetic as well. He told me that AAMCO works with different finances. Sure enough i applied and got approved! This helped me so much by taking some financial stress away. He took care of removing and replacing my transmission control module, took care of the programming, replaced the transmission valve body. I had told him that in November i recently had a transmission flush done, he told me it was never flushed, so he took care of it. He went over the whole process with me ,from beginning to end. He took care of repairing my transmission! I am so happy and forever grateful for the service he provided, and as well for being understanding of my financial hardship! I am so happy to have my car running again,thanks to him I can now take my daughter to the snow:) I will be bringing my mom's car in the next couple of weeks and also recommending them to my friends! My car was a special case being a hybrid, and the team did all they could to try and find out what went wrong since the dealership was telling me it was a transmission issue. The team here did a huge deep dive into the case and unfortunately ruled out anything they themselves could fix, but honestly I don't think it's fixable period. I'm giving them a glowing review for their honesty and because they were fair and treated me extremely well throughout the process. I took my car there thinking my transmission was out. The shop checked on my car and found that it was something different than my transmission and advised me what I should do. Therefore I know I can always trust the shop because they could easily have told me I need a new transmission and I would have believed them and paid for it. Instead they were honest. "Very good business" Now I will recommend them to everybody and will always use them myself because I know I won't be ripped off. Beware man in charge is a liar and a thief He wanted to charge me $1450.00 for work that the car did not need. It took him over 2 days to check the car and get an estimate to me. Told me the car had an electrical problem, the car was running hot, and talked to me with a condasending tone! So I drove it to a Different Ammco it never ran hot . Within 2 hours they had a estimate for me and it was something as simple as a sensor. Brought my car here a few years back for my transmission. I told George That I only wanted to find out if it was really the transmission and not something else because I was super tight on money. He then went on to "fix the transmission" then calls me saying it's fixed and how will I be paying for it? When I told him that I didn't want it fixed just to be looked at he told me I could make payments and he wouldn't charge me storage fees for my car being there till I paid it off! So I went in and put $500 down and told them I can pay $100 a week and they we're ok with that because I didn't have good credit nor a co signer. Then a week later a different mechanic calls me saying something completely different and that I needed to pay for storage fees on top on of the $100 I was giving them. When I told him that George told me that He wasn't going to charge me any fee to keep my car there he told me that George doesn't work there anymore and that I needed to pay the fee.... then another mechanic calls me saying yet another completely different story. I asked them to not put a lean on my car and that I'm trying my best to get to work on the bus and pay for my car and they all kept asking if I knew anybody that had good credit (which I didn't smh) I still had all my belongings in my car cause I only wanted them to check it (not fix it) I called HR and HQ to come to an understanding about my car because I not only did I want to loose my car but I wanted to get it out of there smh... I called a lawyer and even the auto investigation Bureau. There was nothing done! Another mechanic called me saying that they put a lean on my car and they threw all my belongings in the trash when I told them that I didn't get a call me so I can get my stuff out they lie and said they did call me and left a voicemail in great detail explaining what they we're about to do. I NEVER GOT OR HAD A VOICEMAIL FROM THERE SMH!!!!! So I lost my car and hate that place and company with every bit of me. I can't express enough how amazing this place is. I want to give Frank from front desk a special thank you for taking the time out of his busy day to talk to me and just converse with. Don't come here. I thought this was one of the most reliable transmission shops but they're not. Paid 3k for a transmission REPAIR. Still had the same problem when I left their shop. I asked if I can test drive the car to make sure everything is okay but they claimed a "technician" already drove it, as soon as I left the shop I heard a loud metal clacking under my car so I took it back and they had some metal bar under the car loose and from that point I knew the shop was just doing bs work. I would expect quality work for the price they were charging me but I guess you don't always get what you pay for. read more

My son took his car in to identify what was wrong with his car. Ultimately the repair was more expensive than the car. At the time of pick up , he had to pay to get them to put the car back together. What I found to be very shady is that when he asked for the results of what was wrong, the person was unable to provide anything. Payed $1200.00 to get it put together.
