Generous portion and you could tell they made their basmati rice fresh (it wasn't packed in a cube in the takeout box). They also gave kheer (sweet dish) and some savory chips on the side as part of the order (complimentary). Had take out dinner and it was delicious. We got everything spicy and it did not disappoint. The samosa appetizers were crispy flaky and so delicious accompanied by two side sauces for dipping. The garlic naan was perfect for dipping into our entrees. Caution when eating the goat vindaloo (there are bones loose inside the sauce). Very flavorful overall. The mango lassi was sweet and thick. Pick up was easy and the service was quick yet they didn't do much to verify I was the correct person for my order. I just said I was picking up and they handed me the next bag in line. The ambiance of the restaurant was elegant and pleasing with may elements of their culture represented. I recommend eating here and definitely want to try eating at the restaurant next time. We were welcomed as soon as we came in by a polite young lady. She seated us and promptly got us menus and water. The menu is extensive and has many gluten free options. The group had the chicken korma, butter chicken, chicken seekh kebab and tandoori chicken. All the entrees were shared and everyone enjoyed each dish. The flavor and spices were great! Went for lunch to Aangara and loved it! I wish I took photos of the menu because my daughter and I ordered this tray of food (see photo). It gave a fabulous selection of tastes. You needed to pick 2 entrees. It comes in cups with tastes of each including cups of rice, beans, lentils, dips, and some naan. It's plenty of food us you get to taste so many different things. Space is very small with around 8 seats on the ground floor. Looked like there was more seats upstairs for when it gets very busy. There were a lot of people that came in on a Friday night. The chicken Tikka masala was very good. Very tomato forward, which is my favorite. The paneer was kind of salty and needed a lot of rice to eat with it. I really enjoyed the garlic naan. It was crispy and fluffy at the same time. We also got the mango lasso that was a lot more orange in color than I'm use to. It tasted pretty good, even with mangos not being in season. The indoor seating is spacious, and I was able to get a reservation for 13 people just a week in advance for a Saturday night. The waitstaff was friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. If you can handle the heat, I highly recommend requsting Indian spicy. As for the appetizers, the paneer tikka was a bit bland, but everything else had great flavor. We got the chicken tikka masala (mild), lamb roganjosh (medium), and chicken palak (spicy). Everything was aromatic, flavorful, and tender. Also, this place packs spice if you order something higher than medium spice, so caution to those who can't handle spice levels. The spice is well integrated into each dish, not a simple addition of chilis. Even if you can't handle spice, I would still recommend you get medium. It is very approachable and gives it that authentic flavor. The chicken tikka masala wasn't quite the same and after a couple bites, I concluded it was the spice that was missing. Aangara is amazing. We've eaten at quite a few Indian restaurants in NJ including on Oak Tree Road in Edison. Aangara easily holds up to the best of them. The food is outstanding, the portions are large, and they even throw in a mini dessert for free. We have tried many dishes and we've loved every single one so far. The garlic naan and butter chicken was good. The chicken 65 was a tasty appetizer. The vegetable samosa was a little too salty around the edges but nothing that diverted attention from the filling. Disappointed. We drove a long distance because of the reviews and the buffet. When we arrived, we were informed that this restaurant no longer offers a buffet. Not sure how recently this change was made because the website and menu still advertise a buffet. We wanted to leave, but after driving so far, we decided to stay. Another table did in fact leave after being seated once they learned about the buffet. The service was okay. The woman took our empty water, filled it from the sink (hope it's filtered) and put the container right back into the fridge. I guess they don't clean it between guests. Seems a little gross. For two people, our bill came out to about $100 when we only each got a chicken dish. Another table next to us sat for a while to breakdown the bill as well, as they seemed equally disappointed in the pricing. Expensive for sure!! The food itself was not too bad. Not the best I've had either. Most likely will never come back or recommend to anyone sadly. read more

This place used to be the old cornucopia and I have to say, the place they replaced it with was outstanding. The dishes were so delicious. The lassuni gobi (fried cauliflower) was mouth watering. I have never tried the batata puri chat we ordered. It was so good. There was beautiful blueberries and pomegranate seeds on them. It was absolutely outstanding. We booked a table Aangara on monday and to our surprise it was packed and even though they were low on staff the service was really great. My son has allergies to nuts but loves tandoori grill and they literally made sure that the food is nut free marination (as they use cashews in marination) and in a different tandoor where there was no possibility of cross contamination which is really commendable. My husband and I recently moved into the area and wanted to try the buffet here. We had family driving up from MD and were running late.. The staff was beyond amazing and still let us have the buffet even though we got there just as it was wrapping up at 3pm. The staff even offered to refill it and reheat it for the 6 of us. We are so glad that we ate lunch today at Aangara in Keyport. What a treat that we now have an Indian restaurant here on this side of Monmouth County. We are vegan, and what a delight to have an entire section of a menu devoted to us. So many choices! We ordered the Chole (chickpeas) and Gobi Palak, which is a wonderful curry of spinach and cauliflower. We asked for medium spice and it was perfect for us. You must order the roti. It was divine! Fresh, with nice chew and baked on premises in their Tandori oven. Our servers were so sweet and attentive. They waited until the end of our meal to ask about the spice levels. The naan bread was very thin and a bit burnt for my taste. What stood out to us was the number of times the waitstaff checked in on us. I can honestly say that this was some of the best Indian food I have ever had including from NYC & Edison. I ordered the Delhi Butter Chicken which was fantastic. My friend had the Chicken Biryani which was beyond belief. Perfectly seasoned. Generous portions too! The ambiance was very inviting and comfortable. The service was impeccable.
