They arrived 20 minutes early and even though I wasn't completely prepared they were kind and patient and allowed me to just sit back and care for my infant while they did everything. I hired Aaron's Bros Moving System, Inc. in Bronzeville on July 29th to move my belongings from an apartment into a storage unit. Unfortunately, my experience with this company was extremely disappointing and unprofessional from beginning to end. The company initially presented itself as professional, which is why I felt comfortable moving forward with the reservation. However, I regretted that decision almost immediately after the movers arrived. The crew appeared disheveled and unprepared to complete the job efficiently. Throughout the move, workers were arguing with one another, disappearing for periods of time, and leaving only one or two of the four movers I was paying for actively working. One worker even smoked a Black & Mild in the hallway of my building. I did everything possible on my end to make this a smooth and efficient move. I had boxes positioned near the back door for easy loading and even assisted with wrapping dressers because the movers were not consistently working. Despite paying for four movers, the lack of coordination and productivity unnecessarily slowed the process and ran up the clock. I specifically requested that my furniture be properly wrapped and protected before being placed into storage. This was not done with appropriate care. I also requested that certain belongings be placed toward the front of the storage unit so they would remain accessible. That request was not properly accommodated. Instead, my belongings were dropped, stacked, and eventually tossed into the unit without organization or adequate protection. Even the lead mover became visibly frustrated with the crew and was aggressively cursing at them over some of the same issues I had concerns about--their lack of effort, efficiency, and professionalism. As the five-hour timeframe came to an end, the situation became even worse. Rather than handling my belongings carefully, the movers appeared focused on beating the clock and began putting items into the storage unit any kind of way. There was no uniformity or concern for protecting my property. One mover dropped one of my totes, causing papers and other contents to fall out. When I addressed the situation, instead of apologizing, he became argumentative and told me, "You have too much shit in here" and "You should've got a larger storage unit." This was completely inappropriate, disrespectful, and unacceptable behavior toward a paying customer. I also requested to speak with management about my concerns. Unfortunately, the manager I spoke with was rude and abrasive rather than concerned about resolving the situation or ensuring that I, as the customer, was satisfied. Most concerning, my belongings were not transported or stored with appropriate care. Due to inadequate wrapping and protection, multiple furniture pieces were left with scratches, dings, and other damage. Based on my experience, I feel this company took advantage of the hourly clock and unnecessarily prolonged what should have been a relatively straightforward move. I paid for four movers and expected four professionals who would work efficiently, respect my property, follow reasonable instructions, and communicate professionally. That is not the service I received. If negative stars were an option, I would give them. I would strongly discourage others from using this company based on my personal experience. Moving is already stressful enough, and customers should be able to trust the people they are paying to handle their belongings with care, professionalism, and respect. As a direct result of the poor quality of service I received, I had to hire another moving company at an additional expense to come to the storage facility and correct the work that Aaron's Bros Moving System, Inc. failed to complete properly. The second company had to repack and reorganize my storage unit, properly wrap the furniture that had been left exposed, and move the specific items I originally requested toward the front of the unit so they would be accessible. These were services I had already requested and reasonably expected to be completed during my original move. It is extremely frustrating that after already paying for four movers and five hours of service, I then had to spend additional money to hire another company to correct their work and properly secure my belongings. I also have videos and other footage documenting the condition of the storage unit, the manner in which my belongings were left, and the issues described in this review. I am prepared to provide that documentation as necessary. The additional expense, damage to my belongings, lack of proper protection, poor organization, disrespectful communication, and overall unprofessional conduct made this experience completely unacceptable. Our experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The staff was rude and unprofessional, and our furniture was damaged during the move. Would leave no stars if possible. BEWARE I had originally scheduled my move for 8am on July 1st. When the movers weren't there at 8:30am I called the company. They said that they were having truck trouble and would "be there soon". Never checked in with me again or was given an eta. Called again at 9:30am and was given the same story without them calling me back. Finally showed up at 10:30 am when they started the move. The movers were inexperienced to say the least. I had one room to move out of my apartment and it took them over two hours. They had to move the truck for someone in the alley and didn't have any of my boxes or personal items strapped down and they all came tumbling down with my possessions crashing all over the place. Later unpacking found a lot of items to be broken. Called the company and complained. Said he would get back to me to contact the movers and see what was going on, never did. This company definitely doesn't care about you or the move, just about squeezing any bit of money out of you they can. The move ended up taking 7 hours with 3 movers and only moving two studio apartments full of belongings. Tried to charge me $1,100 for poor work and ruining a bunch of my belongings. When disputing payment the man was extremely rude on the phone to me and my boyfriend. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. Worst moving experience of my life. I called the office asking where the movers were and the employee passively told me they had workers that weren't able to come in and to start looking for someone else. He hung up on me a couple times and made no effort ameliorate the situation. Earlier that week I had to call the office twice just to get a confirmation email on the move; I should have seen this coming. To make matters worse I still needed to use their storage facility and once again, the employee made no effort to tell me who would be there to make storage available later that day. FORTUNATELY, I called Woods and Sons Movers, and Vance showed up to pack and move my stuff within HRS! Also I recommend using the Cottage Grove location for storage as they turned out to be far more professional and capable of rendering services. Aaron Bros customer service is surprisingly exemplary for a moving company. They call to confirm your appointment the day before and they are good about communicating the day of. On my first move appointment they got stuck at another house and then it started to downpour so we ended up moving it to the following week. The dispatcher was apologetic and even asked how they could earn my business. It's that sort of respect and care that I admired. It's not too common you have companies who want to earn your business. The guys came out and the lead driver greeted me with a smile and a handshake. Everyone was very professional and polite. They moved an upright piano with general ease and without damaging anything. Movers were several hours late not given discount but instead promised that I would be given an extra body, NO SUCH THING occurred. Items were damaged, haven't received a verdict on compensation for damaged items. Overcharged due to inefficiencies of movers, and charged for an entire spool of plastic wrap when only one item was partially wrapped. Movers didn't even bother to use proper tools even after being told which screwdriver was needed. Do not recommend! I would give them a lower mark but, it doesn't allow zero. My mirror, chest of drawers, bed frame amongst other things were damaged. Update: after making this review someone contacted me... then it took 2.5 months, after I called them, to be told they needed to come by to see in person, even though the co-owner was here the same day and I showed him the damage as well as sent in photos. The other owner had the audacity to tell me that I wasn't corporating... let's put it this way, it should not have taken 2.5 months for you to determine that you needed better photos or ask anyone to come by their home on their personal time. Then he stated he would call me back in 30 minutes, didn't receive a call back..I called today to ask why I didn't receive a callback and was essentially told that I was being problematic. Take my advice and do not use this company for any of your property that you actually care about. My dear friend passed away and left me her piano, a baby grand, knowing how much it would mean to me to be able to play it after she was gone. Aaron Brothers was handling moving furniture out of her apartment, and they agreed to move the piano into my place. But the day of the move, the crew that showed up were surprised to see a baby grand. They had been told by their boss that they would be moving a spinet. They admitted they had no training or experience in moving a piano of that size and weight, but they went ahead with it anyway. These movers didn't know that you have to take the legs off a baby grand to move it, and they tried to move it with the legs still on even though my friend's widower was telling them they had to take the legs off. They finally relented and took the legs off, but they didn't know how to put them back on, which turned out to be a problem later--one of many. The movers also didn't wrap the piano in protective quilted cloth. They only used shrink wrap. When it was time to move the thing upstairs into my place, they attempted to roll it up the stairs on its side, like a giant weirdly-shaped wheel. Pianos obviously aren't designed to withstand that much weight on their corners. So, the wood of my dear friend's piano's main cabinet cracked. The corners broke off, too. I had to go back down the stairs searching for and picking up bits of my friend's piano after the movers left. While I was there, I realized the movers also made gouges in the walls of my building's stairwell while they were doing their hatchet job of moving the piano up the stairs. When they finally got it up the stairs but it was still on its side, the crew let the top board (the giant hinged lid) fall open. It crashed onto my floor so hard that it completely separated from the rest of the piano. The screwed-in hinges that had connected it to the rest of the instrument were ripped out with a horrible splintering noise. I watched it happen and then looked at the movers in shock. They just looked back at me in silence. The movers then tried to set the piano up properly. They put one of the legs on backward, making it unstable. They rested the torn-off lid on top of the instrument, letting it sit there askew. As they were leaving, I asked what I should do about the damages. "Talk to Vince," one of the movers told me. After they left, I discovered that probably during the process of moving the instrument upstairs, the sliding base of the music stand had been shoved diagonally backward and wedged against its track with so much force that the wood of the cabinet around it had also splintered. Obviously my dear friend's piano is horribly damaged, and I am heartbroken. I asked a piano repair person to appraise it and he said he could make some improvements, but it would cost several thousand dollars. I contacted Aaron Brothers and asked for Vince and told him what happened and how much it will cost to fix. Vince told me they are not responsible for any more than 30 cents per pound, which comes to around $180--nowhere near what it will cost me to make repairs. But the company hasn't even provided me with the $180 that they admit they are liable for. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! I had decided to use Aaron Brothers Moving System after having a positive experience with this organization in March 2017. Unfortunately, I had a negative experience with this same company on Monday, July 30, 2018. During this move, these "professional" movers had added a dent to my refrigerator. The purpose of me hiring professional movers and paying over $700 for this service, was to avoid damage to my belongings. However, this was not the case. I had spoken with the general manager of this company on the same day. He had informed me that I will need to file a claim for my damaged appliance. The general manager had also stated that he will need to come to my apartment to view the damage. I had continuously followed up with the general manager to schedule an appointment before we both agreed on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at 9:30 am. I did not receive a confirmation call the day before my appointment to ensure that this date and time was still appropriate. The general manager did not arrive at my apartment on Saturday morning as scheduled or called me regarding this appointment. I had eventually called the general manager at 12:21 pm to inquire if he was still coming to view the dent on the refrigerator. The general manager had answered my call, placed me on a brief hold, and informed me that he was at a client's house and will call me back. The time is now 4:15 pm and I have NOT received a return phone call. I do NOT want another individual to experience this high level of unprofessionalism and poor-quality service. This was my first time hiring movers and I booked them because (I think) they are a black owned business and had competitive rates. Two days before the appointment, I made the mistake of reading the yelp reviews, which made me nervous. But my experience with Sultan and his team was better than amazing. They were early, communicative and patient when my partner and I were hurriedly still trying to pack. We were definitely the weakest links in the process while the team was beyond professional. That being said, nothing in this world is perfect. Moving is inherently stressful. Mistakes happen, things can fall, or be misassembled, etc. but Sultan and his crew were patient with me and so it made it incredibly easy to be patient with them. These guys showed up early and had my entire apartment packed in about 1.5hrs. This includes a little extra time they took to wrap awkwardly shaped items that I couldnt find a box for. I only give three stars because I had to call three times to get my final total, they kept taking down my fax information then not following up so I finally made them give me the breakdown of expenses over the phone. I have to move out of their storage unit soon and I will probably use them again for convnenience. **UPDATE** I had to lower my rating because the owner was charging me all kinds of fees for my storage. I'm sure I was overcharged but he wouldn't send me a breakdown of my fees. Consumers beware. I used this company to move my office from the loop to the suburbs. I gave a complete description of what needed to be moved and the company sent three individuals. When we got to my new office in the burbs, I received a call from the company advising that because my new office required the movers to go up one flight of stairs, the move required four movers and not three. They moved everything but two wood credenzas. They also broke a large bookcase. They advised that they did not have another mover available but that they would hold it in their warehouse and send four movers when they could. Months went by and I never heard back from the company, despite multiple messages being left. I finally left a message threatening to report them and someone finally called me back. We scheduled a time for them to deliver the credenza and the morning of the move, I received a call advising that the credenza's were damaged in their website but that they would put in a claim for the damaged items. I received a check for $105 for $1300 worth of office furnished they damaged. At least they told me the credenza's were damaged, I never received any photos of the damage, despite my request for them. They could have sold them for a hefty profit. Who knows. However I believe that they knew they could not deliver them which is why no one returned my calls for months. I paid $1200 for a move, lost $1300 worth of furniture and all I received was $105 in return. This should be a crime. read more

After a bad experience previously with a Chicago based moving company years ago, I was put in touch with Aarons Brothers Moving System through a friend who mentioned they were top notch. That being said I still exercised due diligence and sourced 3 other quotes from local moving companies prior to moving forward with the Aaron Bros crew. I'm happy to say they were awesome, competitively priced and did an outstanding job handling what I felt was a difficult move. Obviously complexities abound when moving large and delicate items in/out of urban locations but these guys know what they're doing, true professionals. Great crew very friendly, punctual, efficient and hard working but still took an abundance of care with wrapping delicate items meticulously so that once everything arrived at point B, nothing broken, not even a scratch! They made moving which to me was usually a painfully frustrating and long process where my life is in disarray to an act of simply picking up the phone and letting them go to work. I had this company move me from storage to my third floor apartment. In the move was my upright piano which they claimed to have experience moving. when it came to move the piano from the truck, they laid it on its side and slid it to the edge of the truck without protection and then let it sit there complaining to me that no one told there was a heavy piano in the quote and said they could not move it, I contacted Dereck since the piano was on the quote and the third floor walk up was also stated. he apologized and said he would bring the piano back to their storage and have another crew bring it back. when they returned they once again slid it on its side severely scratching the other side and broke one of the legs bringing it up. When I filed a claim to have the damage repaired they refused claiming the leg was already broken and the severe scratches already there. I had just spent $1,000.00 having that piano refinished prior to the move and it was in brand new condition, I have not spent another $1,500.00 Having the leg repaired and the finish restored from the damage they caused. Aaron Bros - BOO! HISS! Do not use these movers. I certainly wish I hadn't. Polite & responsive to phone & email UNTIL I had problems with the move. In a nutshell: I was overcharged then promised a refund that I never received. Felt like the job was being drawn out to inflate the bill. Things improperly packed that I never wanted packed. Phone calls not returned. Email not responded to. Want the details? Read on.  I was overcharged for an extra 15 min that I didn't need. Mover Ben came to me at 11:50 am to tell me that the dispatcher wanted him to settle my bill right then. I was later told that it is company policy to settle the bill 30 min before the end of the job. The total was $368.80. I told him that by my calculations a 3 hr move at $98/hr with a $49 travel charge should have been $343. He told me that they had about 20 min more work, so I was being charged an extra 15 min. However, they were done at 12pm on the dot and my start time was 9am. I called the dispatcher Vincent at 12:15 said that he wished I had called when the guys were still here, but that he would talk to them, find out what happened, and get back to me. I waited all day, but never received a call. I called again and spoke to Vincent again. He promised to send a check for the extra 15 min. Called and left a message with Derrick, still no call back from Vincent & no check. I was already upset that they went a whole 30 min over the estimate. They were sweet guys, but they seemed to be moving slowly. It took 90 min to load what wasn't that much stuff (day bed, sleigh bed, queen mattress set, plastic drawers, fold-up exercise bike, small curio cabinet, dorm fridge, & some bags of clothes) . I paid for 3 movers, but 2 of them did the majority of the moving while the 3rd 'supervised'. Plus it took them twice as long to get to the delivery address as it took us. One thing that might have taken them a little longer was that they kept taking things that they weren't supposed to take. I showed them exactly what I wanted them to take, but they were a little too proactive and started taking everything. I noticed a box was gone from the living room that was going to storage the next day. I told Ben about it and he said he would bring it back up. When I returned from running to the atm to get money because Ben said they don't accept checks, I saw that same box still on the truck plus another one that wasn't supposed to go. Ben told me that he had brought the boxes back up, but then the other movers had taken them back down. Then when I was unpacking today I discovered 2 more boxes that shouldn't have moved. These had been open and pushed into a little hallway to keep them out of the way. Without asking, they taped them shut and brought them. There was a Swiffer duster laying in one of the boxes. It wouldn't fit, so I left it there until I could find a spot for it. One of the guys actually jammed it through the side of the box in order to close it, so now the box won't be properly sealed while in storage. Believe the reviews! Their crew of three (Alexander, Goldberg and Marlin I think) were incredibly professional, nice, friendly guys, who started working as soon as they arrived and just kept going until everything was done. They were careful to wrap everything and took especial care with my one antique piece of furniture. I also really appreciated the office staff and the manager (both names completely escape me right now, I'm sorry.) I was pretty upset when I called them (I was getting desperate after, again, being stood up), and the woman I spoke to calmed me down, helped work the situation out, and made sure that everything would be worked out. The manager kept me updated on the mover's ETA and actually stopped by during the first part of the move to check in that things were okay. Scam artists - beware. Do not do it. Had a noon move scheduled. After delaying every hour or so, 6 hours later we had to cancel. Net result is living out of a suitcase while my stuff was in storage - no move in availability @ my place until a week later. They offered free storage as if they were doing me a favor - when in reality it caused another leg of the trip and more money for them to soak out of me. Was told I would get a discount on day 1. oh my goodness if I could give more stars I would the movers were quick extremely nice, thoughtful and finished quicker then expected. I'm on a fixed budget and I told the movers that so they moved efficiently and quickly to hit the right time frame. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for these guys - if you can get Lawrence, stefon and sultan I would request them, they killllllled it, and were super nice. read more

Let me start with noting that Derrick handled the situation I discussed below extremely professionally and was really respectful. If only he could be cloned four times and be the one to move us. Aaron Bros has very competitive rates and most other moving companies in Chicago, even a month in advance, had been booked when I was shopping around for movers. I probably would have hired them even if I *had* read the Yelp reviews beforehand. But no amount of money is worth the experience my roommate and I had. Our movers were an hour and a half late, for a scheduled appointment of 8am. Derrick did call five minutes before 8am to tell us they were running late and would be there soon - but then no one reached out after that. I continuously had to call to figure out what was going on with our movers. When the moving van arrives, one of the men reeks of marijuana and stays outside smoking instead of coming inside...even though they were an hour and a half late. The move felt a bit slow - I used Elite Movers two years ago for a similar sized apartment that was across town and it took half the time this did - and this move was only 3 blocks. The worst part, though, was that one of the movers very blatantly sexually harassed me. It felt awful to not only have someone insult me like that, but to do while handling my possessions, while moving me into my new home, that made me feel absolutely awful. I felt too uncomfortable to stay. Thankfully my roommate handled it. I called AB immediately to complain. For some unknown reason, they informed the employee WHILE HE WAS STILL MOVING US that I had made a complaint. He then continued to complain about me, loudly, the entirety of the move. It is absolutely degrading and awful to be stuck with a stranger handling your things in your new home while he complains about the fact that you reported his sexual harassment to his boss. Derrick immediately came to the apartment and stayed with my roommate the rest of the move. He provided us a huge discount. At first I felt so thankful to him, and the other three movers, who were so professional. But now as I settle into my home, there's just too many broken pieces of furniture and things like a heavy box of books being placed on top of a box labeled 'fragile' in giant black letters that just leaves me feeling awful about the whole thing. You may be like me and want to save the money. For something like this, don't. It's not worth it. read more

This was my first move using a professional moving company and I'm glad I chose Aaron Bros. The crew arrived on time, about 10 minutes early actually. They were professional and worked quickly. We had a bit of inclement weather at the beginning but that didn't slow them down. If you have a chance to request your movers, ask for Lawrence and Sultan. Sultan was the head guy and he was great. He was able to disassemble and reassemble my son's bunk bed with no issues and quickly. He was thorough in explaining the move and costs associated so no surprises at the end. Lawrence was awesome and super helpful. I was moving to a second floor condo. If I realized a box or item needed to be stored in the garage, he took it back down with no problems. I won't be moving again for awhile but I will recommend Aaron Bros to anyone who asks! read more

If I could give this company a zero, I would! They moved me on January 15th, 2019. Long story short, they were HOURS late because one of their trucks was inoperable. Once the move was completed, I realized that the glass on one of my wall pictures had been scratched in three different places. Needless to say, I was pissed, but I didn't discover the damage until two days later. Lastly, Vince, the owner is arrogant and nonchalant about the customers dissatisfaction. We booked them for a move this past Friday. We had our freight elevator & security reserved at our condo for an 8am move. They called the day before to say their truck broke down and wouldn't be able to move us until the afternoon. We paid to change our elevator and security times to accommodate. They said they would call in the morning to give a better estimate of their arrival time. After 11am rolling around and no word, I called them.. Katie said Vince was "out" and he would call me back. I waited 1.5 hours for a call back and when I didn't hear, I called again. Vince said he would call dispatch and get back to me. Again, no call back. When I finally got ahold of Vince, he said that their "truck broke down". So I asked, "your truck broke down yesterday, so we had to postpone the timing, now ANOTHER one of your trucks broke down?" Vince replied "Yes, I will call you back when I have news" I STILL HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THIS COMPANY. We had to scramble to find SAME DAY movers- it was awful. Moved upright piano, and cracked a leg, side, and shifted the keys out of position out of their pins and shifted the key levers. Also bumped piano quite hard on the back of their truck. read more
