I used to be a big fan of this store but have lost trust in them. I have purchased vintage watch & jewelry in the past with positive experiences. In 2016 I had my Rolex Submariner in for regular maintenance because they were much faster (and cheaper) than the Official Rolex facility across the street which expected to keep the watch for 8-10 weeks vs 3-4 for Faber. This watch had been serviced at Rolex twice before in it's lifetime. I was having it serviced partially because the winding mechanism had become "stiff". Faber guranteed to use 100% Rolex parts. Estimate was 3/4 the cost of using Rolex service. When the watch was returned, it still felt "stiff" when winding, but kept relatively perfect time (for a rolex.) 8 years later (this week) I brought it to Rolex. Their first comment was that winding mechanism felt very stiff.....they also noted that the crystal had been replaced with a non-Rolex part, which could have only been done by Faber, contrary to their representation. I haven't felt comfortable with the Faber service for the last 8 years and now have the evidence to support that gut feeling. read more

I had my watch - a 1951 Longines, completely overhauled last year - I believe it was Oct. I paid close to $400 for the cleaning. The jeweler who completed the work was out of town and the stem came out of the watch, so I took it to Aaron Farber for a repair estimate. I was called back within a few days, and was told, ..."the watchmaker said he'll give you a good deal; only $350 to overhaul and fix the watch". I told them it was just overhauled 7-8 months ago and the watchmaker was lying and was going to 'pretend' to overhaul the watch. I told them NOT to fix the watch - in took 3 WEEKS to get my watch back! It's hard to believe the store is conducting such inappropriate activity. I took it to a downtown jeweler this morning; he said it was a spring issue, and a minor repair - it won't cost more than $25-$30 to fix. DO NOT GO TO AARON FARBER! THE JEWELER IS DISHONEST AND UNETHICAL! read more

The Fabers, Edward and Patricia are not to be trusted. We are currently in litigation with them as they have defaulted on a consignment agreement and have decided to let the world know as a warning. I've copied this over from google but the message is clear. I'm having the exact same situation as the previous review from 3D. After weeks of emailing generic emails (the staff was apparently laid off) I am now almost 50 days unpaid. It was confirmed my watch was sold (after I hounded them) and have had no contact from them after repeated emails to various addresses. Their service when selling me watches were impeccable, I trusted them completely based on that relationship to consign with them and now I am left with regret and little recourse. Update 5/26/2020 I wish we had better news and after months of attempting to collect the payment for the Patek Phillipe as mentioned above, we are now forced to seek counsel to recoup the debt owed to us. Edward Faber's arrogance and disregard for his contractual agreement are substantiated by email chains and contracts. He tried to use the pandemic to squirm out of this debt and now we have the ugly task of going to court. Calls unanswered, emails ignored, his woeful disregard for his obligations are obvious and we have given him months of good will and benefit of the doubt. Back in 2013, our family purchased three time pieces from him for $90,000, one of which is the Patek as referenced above. The service when purchasing the watch was great. I found him to be a little arrogant but that type of attitude is not unfamiliar to the luxury retail market. In October of 2019, we decided to consign the watch with him and dropping off the watch and the valuation went rather smoothly, I completely trusted him and felt his many years in business and his prominent street address gave me a sense of ease. I soon began to lose my trust in February (after hearing no status update for months)- eventually his "consignment manager- a person whom I'd never met named Dani confirmed the watch was sold in February. This is where the trouble began. I was quoted 2 weeks in email then when that date arrived with not check I called and emailed. I was told per our contract they had 36 days to pay us. Okay. I patiently waited. Then shelter-in-place occurred and I gave him an extra 2 weeks assuming that the check would arrive to my mailbox any day. I figured the timing with world events probably delayed things a but but since the watch was sold prior to the pandemic- we would not encounter any issues. Boy was I wrong, after tens of messages and tracking him down through contacts in NYC and even emailing him via LinkedIn (!) I finally got a short email from him asking me to call him. On the phone he assuaged my concerns and blamed the pandemic saying that he could not enter his office to cut a check. Obviously a lie, since everything is done electronically but I figured with his age, perhaps he was that analog and waited. Then the following week he said he had to make weekly payments of $5000 until the debt was cleared. We understood and although felt very uneasy about it- offered him more good will and waited. Mind you, he did not offer any compromises- it was very arrogant and was a very "take it or leave it attitude". It took him another week to send the agreement. When the agreed upon date came around (may 15th) surprisingly we heard nothing. Until now we have not been paid and have received no word from his side. We are now pursuing this matter in court. Will update when and if this situation is resolved. Don;t do business with him. They are slime. They also fired all of their loyal staff with no severance. Do business with anyone else but him. I've waited this long before writing this harsh review but I now have no recourse and have run out of good will- I don't want this to happen anyone else. Heed the other similar reviews and I am disappointed in myself for not first doing adequate due diligence when deciding to cosign the timepiece. read more

This is my first ever negative review. I bought my husband a very expensive watch from Edward Faber. While it initially went very smoothly it turned the corner when we had an issue. I called Edward (who I have been working with) to let him know that the watch was too small and we were informed by our jeweler it did not have all the links it should have come with. Edward was apologetic and told me he would send me a link to add to it. After many reminders it was mailed- and did not go with my husbands watch. I called Edward and told him that and he told me he would send the correct one immediately. It's been almost five weeks and after multiple ignored calls later the new link isn't here. You will get so little money for your jewelry and valuables here. They will pay you in more than 30 days, you will need to chase them for your money; such as, calling and leaving them messages. My fiancé and I are from DC and wanted to spend a wonderful time in NYC (where we fell in love). Ironically, it took a trip back to NYC to have an amazing experience with Felice and find the wedding ring of my dreams! Before heading up North, we tried to look at wedding bands at a local store. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication with this local jewelry store and we were never able to see any rings because they had been shipped back. I was really sad and let down. A week later, Bruce surprised me and told me that he connected with Felice from Faber Aaron to gather up Steven Kretchmer wedding bands. I was shocked when he told me she was able to gather five different rings within days from all over the country. The day came to go see Felice and we walked into the store and felt this overwhelming calmness. The store was inviting, she was smiling, and immediately my nerves calmed down. She took us to the back and showed us all the rings. Felice explained the best type of ring that would match with my engagement ring. Note- I never wear rings, so I was afraid to make the wrong decision. She let me/us figure it out and with no pressure. She gave us space when we needed it and she knew when we were feeling puzzled and factually explained why rings look better with different styles. After an hour, again with her pleasure, I was able to pick out my beautiful wedding band. Our wedding is in a few weeks and I cannot wait to wear my ring! It's silly, but when I put the wedding band on, I think of Felice and how she made my experience so comforting and most of all, with trust. Far and away, the worst high-end watch experience I've ever had. I came to service 2 Rolexes and purchase a third. Let's just say the highlight of my visit was fumbling with my phone for 15 mins in 0 deg temperatures to try to reach the servicing person I had spoken with the day before while 4 different associates passed me and refused to open the doors. It was a night and day kind of experience from the service you receive at Wempe, Rolex or OMEGA; all of which are within a block or so of Aaron Faber. If you can, you should go to any of these instead for your servicing needs (depending upon watch make) and WITHOUT A DOUBT those stores should be your first or second, etc options for any new purchase. read more

This place has a great and wide selection of vintage watches and that's exactly what my fiance was looking for. When we left, we were torn between two very different wristbands. I read about the Aaron Faber Gallery in GQ a little bit back. They said that these guys are solid, know what they're talking about and will offer you pretty much exactly the price you'd expect--no more or less. I think they were dead right. Not exactly deals to be found, but some reasonably priced Bulovas and Tags and some Rolexes and Omegas that would run--pretty much exactly what you'd expect. The place itself is a little intimidating with the usual Madison-Avenue guard at the door and lots of bright lighting and watches behind glass, but unlike me you're probably used to this kind of place. The staff are a little aggro, but they know what they're talking about so I was generally ok with it. I didn't get to the point of negotiating for this gorgeous Speedmaster that I'd been eyeing, but it had been there for over two months, so I'd imagine I'd might be able to get them to come down a tiny little bit--it didn't have a moonphase and was at $5,800 which seemed a bit pricey to me. I was very close to thinking about a Tag Autavia, but the price they wanted ($3,800) I thought there were other rarer watches, or much cheaper more common watches, I could get. I went to Tourneau and got an insane deal on a very common but timeless Tag Carrera Calibre 5 Automatic with lots of cash to spare. Still I had a good vibe at this place--even if you just want to window shop it's worth checking out. read more

My fiancée and I were shopping for an engagement ring along 5th ave, and we just finished browsing at Harry Winston when we came across Aaron Faber. Jackie took care of us as she showed us around the gallery. We found a design that my fiancée liked but it had to be a special order to have it sized for her along with a slight variation of the design compared to what we saw in person. We are living overseas and only had a few days left in New York, but Jackie kept in contact with us through out the process. She sent us the GIAs of some candidate loose diamonds, although we decided to get our diamond elsewhere which was no problem. The order was delayed quite a bit because of reasons beyond our control (e.g. consecutive snow storms in NY), but eventually it was completed. Jackie sent us a photo and we were both very excited. The ring was shipped directly to me overseas along with certifications, documents that came with the diamond. The photo we received did not do it justice, the result was stunning. My fiancée was in tears of happiness upon receiving it. She being a jewelry designer herself, was so overwhelmed. If she were to design the ring herself, this would be the result. We are very happy with our purchase. My only suggestion is more communication when the delays were happening. Living overseas while the ring was in production on the other side of the world with a deposit paid certainly made us uneasy and at times it was unclear what was slowing down production but it's all sorted out now. read more

Ok here is my third update on this crazy watch situation. As I posted earlier, we purchased what turned out to be a fake watch from Aaron Faber for just under $2,000. After A LOT of hassle, we got out money back. After posting this, three yelpers have messaged me that they also purchased fake vintage watches from Aaron Faber. I have encouraged them to post about it. Since we live in NYC for part of the year it was easy for me to manage this crazy situation and push to get our money back. A lot of Europeans and other tourists purchase watches here and I imagine they go home and when they find out their watch is fake, they don't have a lot of recourse. This is a high end just off 5th avenue store, so they get away with selling fake watches. I just can't believe the nerve they have to keep doing it! Aaron Faber please stop selling fakes! read more

This place is sensational- I couldn't be happier that I discovered them online. The staff and the owner were delightful, extremely helpful and considerate to my time consuming decision. I went in looking for a vintage Rolex I found on their website and came out with a completely different, vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre. Avoid at all costs! Don't be fooled by their upscale location and well-dressed sales people.. These people are as low as they come. I brought a Rolex in to consign with them and agreed to their very loose terms of a 6 to 8 week contract, automatically renewed unless the seller cancels. As the contract was nearing it's term, the watch still hadn't sold, so I emailed their Inventory Manager "Dali or Dolly" to say that I would like to pick up the watch as soon as possible. We had agreed on a date and time for me to pick up the watch, five days after my initial request to pick up my property. The morning I was due to pick up the watch, I get a voice mail from Dali informing me that, woops, they had sold my watch. It took more than 24 hours for someone to get back to me, and I finally spoke with "Mr. Faber" who explained that there was a mix up in the timing, but that I should be congratulated and feel lucky that he was able to sell my watch. Long story short, they had no right to sell my property after I expressly asked to have it returned to me. They offered no accommodation. They can expect to hear from my attorney. I liked the work inside as well as the young salesperson, so I went to the owner to praise her salesperson for being so helpful and kind and when I did, the owner was so rude and pompous I was immediately disgusted. She could barely look at me and and couldn't even say thank you. They also must be having $ issues as they didn't have air conditioning on and it was 85 degrees outside. I will not go back! STAY AWAY!! Over priced! I had a Rolex appraised there and having never had any expensive jewelry before I didn't have any reference of pricing. They charged $300 which was ridiculous and my fault for not researching beforehand. Not only that but after the appraisal my watch did not work like before. It constantly needed to be winded. I had to bring it to Rolex for maintenance. For appraisals go somewhere else that will charge you a lot less and get the job done better! read more

I have a vintage Rolex -- an anniversary gift in 1979. It's been through a lot, and so have I. Last week, it fell off my wrist, the pin in the clasp was missing. Not only did Faber repair it within 6 hrs, they crafted a new rivet to hold the pin in place. The staff was considerate, helpful, and understanding of my urgent need for this repair. It's the only watch I wear, and I was going out of town in the morning, and didn't want to be without it. I used the Subway Arcade service center -- quick access, no wait for a representative, and no pressure to have anything else done. The repair charge was reasonable, esp for same day service. In the past year I have had two valuable vintage watches repaired at Aaron Faber -- a rare1963 Breitling Navitimer and a Bulova Accutron. Both needed extensive work. The contact person at AF was Maria M. She was fabulous as a point of contact and the workmanship on the watches was outstanding. I could not be more pleased with the service both in the store from Maria and the final product and the cost of the repairs (pricey, but fair based upon my investigation). I trusted AF with these watches (they were my father's) and I was smart to do so!!! read more

I purchased engagement and wedding band from the Gallery in April 2017. There had been an exhibit there of Stephen Kretchmer collection of uniquely designed tension set rings. The rings were indeed fabulous and my fiancee fell in love with Truncated Flat Top Helix (HTF) design (http://www.stevenkretchmer.com/product/truncated-flat-top-helix-htf/) for engagement band. This design essentially requires the wedding band to be the particular Kretchmer design that contours (like a matching puzzle piece) around the HTF engagement band. Edward Faber had been a great host on that first visit, along with the visiting VP of the Kretchmer company. Mr. Faber had provided us quotes with a promotional discount on the various ring options. After further research of other candidate rings, we decided that this Kretchmer option was the best, most unique one, and I had set appointment to purchase the engagement and wedding band, and select a diamond for the engagement band (though my fiancee basically knew what her ring was going to look like, the diamond would remain the mystery until I would actually propose). On that all-important second visit, I worked with Pamela Fearn. She offered professional, courteous service, explaining the 4 diamonds that had been selected for me to choose from, and was patient while I decided on the diamond. read more

Wow - I'm sick to my stomach reading that review about the Rolex. They pulled something very similar with me. I took my Cartier watch in for a repair estimate. After two weeks, they told me it would be $525 (or so) to fix it. I thought that seemed pretty damn expensive. I said it seemed high and I'd have to think about it. They said they could give 10% off that, and when I didn't say yes, they offered a 20% discount. I said I'd have to think about it. Today they phoned me and said the work was done, with the rush order I had requested, and would I please give them my credit card for the work?Whoa, whoa, whoa! I never gave them the go ahead to do the work at all. (In fact, I had phoned my parents in Michigan to arrange to have it repaired there.) And if I had, wouldn't they already have taken my credit card? And why would she say I had asked for a rush, when in fact I hadn't asked them to do that work at all? She demanded to know within an hour if I wanted them to take the parts out of the watch or whether I would pay. I phoned back and spoke to a colleague who said she couldn't imagine such a misunderstanding. That this salesperson had worked there for 30 years and had never had such a thing happen. Hmmmm. I'm writing this as a warning to future customers. I'm angry and disappointed in this store which I had previously thought so highly of. read more

I wish I had read Allie's review before I bought a very expensive Patek Phillippe watch at Aaron Faber. The watch has had significant issues including the stem coming out. Although both Felice and Mr. Faber tell you they will get back to you, they don't. The service department shortened the band for $300 and kept the gold. They replaced a jeweled PP crown with a gold non-PP crown devaluing the watch and didn't return the crown they replaced. I met Mr. Faber at a Florida show in February. I didn't confront him at his booth as I didn't want to compromise a sale. I had an opportunity to speak with him later and he assured me that I would hear from him in a week to ten days and that I would be satisfied. Have you heard from him? That's how I heard from him. I am now disputing my bill with Amex and intend to write to the Better Business Bureau as well. The store does not stand by its merchandise, the service department takes forever and the scrap gold to boot, and they give you the runaround. This has been an awful experience. Avoid at all costs. There are far more accommodating stores in the neighborhood. read more
