It wasn't very crispy but it had a strong garlic flavour. It also didn't have a lot of layers but it was quite sweet. It was also quite large. Some of their goods are sold at Hmart if you are looking to try it. But avoid the two items that I have tried

Clean and spacious aisles to shop in. Plenty of selection and good amount of discounted items too in baskets throughout the shop and they offer ready to go drinks! Looked like some sort of juice or slush.

Dough was incredibly flaky, and pear's flavor had a subtle salty I could taste, Sweet and a bit salty balance worked so well. Mont blanc was also great. Again, dough was so good, Chestnut puree was not too sweet and meringue on the top paired well. Croissant pudding was also delicious. It was not too dense just like the one I had in other shop. Sweetness was perfect, it was a great item, too. Roast beef croissant was a good savory item. I just got one bite, but, flavor was strong. Beef and mustard paired well, Dough was flaky, Overall, I highly recommend this bakery. Next time, I will try their cookies I haven't tried yet.

The staff wasn't helpful at all. "They're all good." She also said the bread is Korean style bread that is popular in Korea. Then I asked why use the Japanese word for salt, i.e. "shio". She then responded that the bread is Japanese style. Like, which is it? Korean or Japanese? After consulting Gemini AI, the two styles are fundamentally the same but the texture is different. Regardless of Japanese or Korean style, I got the original and black (squid ink). I honestly don't see what the hype is. It's essentially just butter roll with salt sprinkled on top. Lol.

I get that they use less sugar, but that might explain why everything tasted a bit bland. Parking is also kind of a hassle. There's no dedicated lot, so you'll either need to park at Aberdeen Centre or in a nearby lot and walk over, and you'll likely have to pay if you stay for a while.

It's not too sweet (the highest compliment you could give to an Asian baked goods) but I could feel the richness and bitterness of the matcha. If there's a negative, it'd be that the matcha is so strong you can barely taste the pistachio. Will be back to try some other flavours, such as the taro mochi. The bakery also has other interesting offerings like pretzel and yogurt, so I'm curious to give them a try.

I discovered Elmo baking co when they had a pop up at Richmond location, long time ago. Then, I have always visited their pop up at other shop and I was so happy they opened their own shop. I usually liked their double baked items. This Pistachio Rocher croissant is based on Dubai chocolate. Dough was crispy. Chocolate glaze was very good. The filling Kataifi with pistachio paste and tahini - I prefer a bit more sweetness in it. The pistachio paste flavor dominated , if there were more sweetness , then, it might be more smoother to me . Overall , I enjoyed this item its unique flavor.

I was devastated and embarked upon a quest to find another bakery that sold Chinese Egg Tarts even half as good as the ones Marui bakery used to sell. Someone from a Facebook food group that I follow mentioned something about the egg tarts at Jin Mai Bakery. Jin Mai Bakery has been on my radar ever since. I finally managed to pay them a visit and wow, their egg tarts are really really good! They are now our family's new "go to" place for Chinese Egg Tarts. When we walked into the bakery, we were immediately struck by the wonderful aroma of baked goods in the air. This was a promising sign already, and then when I saw the egg tarts, the crust already looked flaky just upon first glance. We happened to arrive just as they had taken a fresh batch out of the oven, so we bought a pack of 6 egg tarts and tried a couple of them right away. Piping hot, soft and custardy centre without being overly sweet. And the crust...a nice, flaky crust...the piece de resistance. The flaky crust was what made Marui's egg tarts so phenomenal and these egg tarts at Jin Mai Bakery are the closest we've found. I have searched quite awhile for egg tarts that were even half as good as the ones from Marui, and these were better than half as good. These are easily the best Chinese Egg Tarts in town now. No question about it. This is "the" place to go for Chinese Egg Tarts.

Depending on what you're looking for, these guys win on price, but maybe not in terms of what I mention above - taste, texture, etc, etc. I ended up getting a bunch of stuff. Pineapple buns, wiener buns, and a small baked tapioca pudding. The wiener bun was very "average", meaning nothing special and nothing great, That said, it was less than $2 each. The baked tapioca pudding 6", $6.50. I knew what I was getting into, the moment I walked in. It's a bit of a hole in the wall. It's not pretty, atmosphere wise, in any sense of the word. All of their products are not in the display case, so you may need to ask for it. Auntie was reasonably friendly to me. Cash only. Parking available on side street. 揮春 plastered all over the place. Recommended for cheap Asian baked goods.
