She then introduced me to Matt Wagner who was the most pleasant, friendly, patient and knowledgeable sales manager. An update: Abbey Carpets aranged to send in Matt and a rep from Mohawk Carpets to check out the carpet. One thing the Mohawk rep mentioned was that in order to qualify for warranty coverage, the carpet should be steam-cleaned professionally every 18 months (using a residential-quality cleaner does not qualify). We've had a lot of carpets throughout the years that have held up without steam cleaning, so this came as a surprise to us. While we still wish we had gotten a better carpet, we appreciate their response to our Yelp review and am upgrading our rating due to their customer service. read more

The house rules in my condominium are strict, and I wanted to have flooring, but it was over my budget. So, I had to give up and chose a carpet instead. Then, I contacted Abbey and they helped me choose the right carpet, based on their knowledge and experience. I was greeted by Neil who explained my options and made sure I understood the process of choosing the right flooring for my place. On installation day, Derrick arrived as scheduled. I had an appointment that morning and had to leave. Upon my return Jay was there working with Derrick - the carpeting looked great but the work was still to be completed. There was carpet fibers all over the place. I had another appointment and asked them to text me when they had completed the work. Later that afternoon I received the text - all done. One of the most stressful things about a renovation-IMO- is the flooring. Recently we remodeled our master bath and as far as flooring goes, it was pretty much stress free. Nobody wants to spend hours and hours wandering through aisles of tiles, wood, etc. when you can be doing something more constructive! We had heard about Abbey Carpet through ads and on Yelp and decided to visit their showroom. Within twenty minutes after arriving there, we had already selected and decided on a tile! We went with the Metroflor Inception vinyl planks which are 100% waterproof. These planks are high quality and are easy to maintain. I regret not going this route when our other bathroom was remodeled. That one is all ceramic tile and more maintenance to do. The installers did a great job. The floors and baseboards look wonderful. I especially appreciate the team of installers finishing the baseboards behind the washer/dryer as well, it makes it look finished which is very professional of them. They made sure to lay down the proper moisture barrier plus added a separate coat of sealant to be super sure it was done right. I can tell they worked hard and completed the job in good timing. We just had the flooring replaced by Abbey in the entire first floor of our home (Living room, family room, kitchen, bath, and stairs). Out with the old carpet and in with the LVP. The experience from the first visit to their showroom with Brenda explaining the choices, to the last day of installation, has been totally positive. Our floors look fantastic, and Tony and the install crew were professional and efficient. Metroflor in 20 ML Tamarind was a great choice with a Lifetime residential warranty. A short note to show what kind of installers Abbey has working for them. During the first day when they pulled up all the old carpet, they must have found an old angel ornament with a broken wing in one of the closets. They placed the two pieces on the kitchen counter, and we noticed it on the second day after we could walk on the dried self-leveling cement. However, on the last day of install, when they left for the day, we saw the angel ornament on the kitchen counter, and they had glued the wing back onto the angel for us. That is a testament to how they treat their customers. read more

By chance, I met Matt of Abbey Carpet at a fair in Mililani. I went there to meet with RCT Innovations and met Matt. We were in the middle of using another carpet company to have our carpet installed and after speaking with Matt, we decided to seek an additional quote. Competition is always good and one must be careful as you pay for what you get. We called the other company on a Friday and the customer service and attitude that was received was below standard for us. Matt was always available to take my call, was understanding of what we wanted, and only made promises that he could keep. He was upfront with what he could and couldn't do and went out of his way to service us. Turns out that the carpet that we wanted was in stock and the discount by using our ASB debit card provided us with additional savings. Support local! On the day of installation, the installment team was on time and ready to go. Tony led the team and was very personable with a great attitude. Provided Tony with a walk-through and instructions on our Association restrictions. LOL, Tony called back to say that they had 6 nails left to pound in but the "no noise restriction" had expired 15 minutes ago. Instructed him to go ahead and we will speak with the manager. Installation went well and the team installed the carpet in a timely manner. So far, we have had only good things to note about our installation. Locally owned, quality service, and good workmanship. Normally when people have one bad experience with a company, they take that negativity and run with it. We try to give the company a chance to make it right before we form our final opinion. Abbey Carpet & Floor took that one chance and not only earned our business again in the future, but also earned our respect and heartfelt appreciation. Purchasing carpet is not easy, especially considering the cost, time, and labor that it takes to make it happen. Abbey was the first company we went to and Shawn made it really easy to narrow down our options when taking into account what we had (child and dog) and what we were looking for. We did go to two other competing floor companies and it was the quality and workmanship promised that won Abbey over for us. They accommodated our schedules for demo and install and there were no hidden prices from what was explained to us. However, there was a doozy in the installation and what we were promised was not what we received. The product was as expected but the workmanship... well. Within hours of "completion," we called Shawn to complain and question and he came out to take a look for himself within a few hours. Two days later they sent Tony over to fix everything we had found and he explained what exactly was done wrong. Tony's workmanship was top notch and never made us feel that we had inconvenienced him. When I called to pay our final balance, Jaime, their office administrator, had expressed how sorry they were for our inconvenience. I was surprised at how she had even known about it! I hadn't even mentioned other issues we had encountered with the installers themselves until that point so she took notes on everything and promised I would hear back from them. Within hours I received separate calls from both Shawn and Debra (the owner) who wanted to hear for themselves what we had gone through. Debra then proceeded to make it her mission to make things right with us. It was so heartwarming to hear how personally she listened and took in my comments and the accountability she claimed for the workers they hired, especially from such a big company like them. We just wanted to make them aware of everything so that it wouldn't happen in the future but she insisted on righting all of the wrongs. And for the next three days she was in constant communication with us and sent workers to our home on OUR schedule to ensure that we were happy with the entire job. You guys, in less than a week, this company had fixed any and all issues! AND made sure that all areas that we were inconvenienced in due to this problem would be addressed to their best ability too. At no point did anyone (from owner to worker) ever make us feel like we were just complaining or inconveniencing them and actually justified our concerns by agreeing with us and placing themselves in our shoes. They listened and asked and it's apparent that everyone who works for this company takes pride and ownership not just for their assigned work, but for the company overall. Not every job can be done perfect the first time but you can be damn sure that, if it's not, Abbey Carpet & Floor Hawaii will do what they can to make it right.
