"I don't know" is not a good answer regarding carpet specs, etc. They are not very knowledgeable regarding their products or just lazy? Shadiest vendor I have ever come across. I asked for price per measurement (square inch, square foot, yard, something), and the response I get is "I've never been asked for such details in the 20 years I have worked [in this business/for this company] . . . I cannot provide you with that information." I should have gone to Lowe's or another company. Everything is upfront, and you do not have to deal with a "I never said that" or a "I cannot tell you". I paid $1,500 deposit, which on the statement (which was received after, and not before the start of the project) says is 75% of the total. For anyone who remembers "cross multiplication", I hope you can follow this because apparently some people at this company "Don't have calculator(s)" to figure out that $1,500 is 75% of $2,000, NOT $2,405.00 (rounded up to the nearest dollar) and is what they claim the subtotal came out to. Remember, they "cannot" / would not provide me with a price per measurement. $1,500 $X --------- = ------- 75% 100% Cross multiply and you get 150,000=75X. Divide 150,000 by 75, and "X" is $2,000 which should have been 100% subtotal. How is it that my subtotal comes out to $2,405.00 (rounded up to the nearest dollar) plus tax? Also, I had asked the person who came to my place whether the installation can be done by a given time period. He said, "Yes". I called him directly twice to follow up, and was told that the guy who does the installations is on vacation so the project cannot be done by the time I had originally asked. I ended up having a friend pick up the materials and do the installation. The product was missing some parts too! Bottom line: They refuse to provide you with solid details, documentation, neglect a timeline, slap you with a total for which you never signed/agreed upon, and simply demand you pay without any apologies or attempts for reconciliation. Now, I question whether the the materials even cost $2,000 at this point. Save yourselves the headache. Use a different vendor. read more

But American One wanted $20K to install flooring for a small 840 square foot apartment. So we decide to go back to Abbey Carpet. I'm glad I did. I recommend you visit Abbey Carpet and ask for Sean Okamoto. The service we received from Sean and the team at Abbey Carpet was great. The floors installed in my new condo is beautiful. In fact other vendors have asked me who installed our floors. It's hard to find good quality work from reputable companies these days. We bought laminate flooring from them about 14 years ago. Some of the planks are bulging from the floor . We called them to get assistance. Someone did come out and looked at it and said they would contact us about repair options . They never did. Since then I have called back twice trying to get help . Most recently they asked for pictures to forward to their service department which I sent.... No response. I have given up on this company. Would have g paid money to have entire floor replaced if they provided me with any response at all. read more

Happy Mic Check Day! 1-2, 1-2, 1-2! I was debating to give Abbey Carpet 1 or 2 stars but felt rather generous. The only reason why I come here is for the remnants which I use to line in front of my washer and dryer in the garage. The lack of sizes makes it difficult to find the right fit. I have purchased the sample remnants for other uses for $2 which is a great deal. Once you enter, the front desk receptionist calls for a sales representative and is with you during the whole process. I was hoping to just "look" but they assigned me a gentleman who is obviously looking to earn a small commission. On my last visit, I was ready to purchase my $2 remnant and the receptionist asked for my id and phone number to enter into the system. With my $2 and change in hand, I just wanted to buy the darn carpet and walk out but entering all my information took time and it seemed unnecessary in my opinion. This store is located across from Buzz's Steakhouse in Aiea. Will I come here again? Yes if I need to pick up more $2 samples and have lots of time. read more

(Went in a few days ago) As for the customer service, they trick you, try to steal your money and lie straight up to your face. Horrible people and price, please don't go there.... They run specials discounts on marukai ads so my parents went to the store. They told them the promotion was on specific carpets. There selection was not only limited but also the most expensive carpet they had- 11.90 per sqt!! They thought from there, it's 50% off plus 5% for marukai members. So they went ahead with that order. Come to find out, they only gave them the 5% disc. and told them it wont apply!?!? That's when I spoke to the owner but, he too gave me the run around and said he doesn't even know about the promotion. He told me if I cancelled the order, it will cost me. Carpet came out to be $6024.00 for a 750sqt. home. Really? disappointing experience..... Go to home depot, I got carpets from them twice and it was a pleasant experience!! read more

Had a sales-guy named Shawn Okamoto, a young japanese guy, seemed kinda new...like really green. He helped me find some vinyl for my kichen and when it was installed, it bubbled after. They gave me hard time getting them to come back & fix it, someone I over-heard in their store said that Shawn wasnt willing to have the cost of re-doing come out of his commission. The installation team worked really hard to put the carpeting on the stairs including two flights of open stairs. The installation was perfect with the seams hidden under the bullnose, making it look seamless. I wish I had done this years ago. Wow, such a different experience I had from the two previous people! I got great service! Receptionist was very friendly, pointed me in the direction of what I wanted to see and said she's send someone to assist me. Two minutes later one of the female associates came, sat me down to discuss what I was looking for. She showed me samples of the laminate I was interested in, took down the numbers. Explained the differences such as some had graining, some were flat, some shiny, etc. There's SO many choices! I'll be going back to look at more flooring selections, but so far they have been great! read more

We had a floor project done recently, converting carpeted bedrooms to hardwood, changing ceramic in dining/kitchen to waterproof vinyl, & recarpeting a den and livingroom. From sales & selection, with patience & an eye for what works, they helped with our final color/finish for the hardwood & vinyl. Scheduling work for the individual living areas worked well in terms of being able to maneuver through the livable space. I went to Abby for flooring since my carpet was older and needed an update. Brenda Kumabe was super helpful and found me the right flooring. And while I was at Abby, saw that they also offered drapes so I purchased new drapes too. It took me a while to find the right drapes and Brenda was so patient with me. I first initially went to another flooring company but was not happy with the salesperson. The installers of the floors (Lako and Dom) were very efficient and did an awesome job! Cleaned up all their mess and professional. The resident manager of my condo even mentioned how Lako and Dom were polite and did an amazing job. I was looking to purchase roughly $20,000 in flooring from this business and was not impressed with their customer service at all. I made an appointment in store with Brenda to go over flooring options. A few days later her and another man (forgot his name) came to measure the spaces in my home. Brenda assured me I would receive a quote for the flooring the following week. In a nutshell, went to the store on a Wednesday, they measured Friday, and I didn't receive a call back for two weeks. Eventually Brenda called me and I was given an excuse that she was too busy to send me an update much less a quote for the flooring. I understand work can get busy, but to ignore a potential customer for two weeks and not even send a text or email does not give a good impression of the business. So in that time frame of waiting, I had already hired another company that took me seriously. Another thing I noticed, is this company charges well beyond industry averages. I explained this to Brenda, and she kept saying they aren't the cheapest. I wasn't looking for the cheapest, just average. Don't waste your time or money with this flooring store. read more
