Went to abbys yesterday evening, the shrimp is good but now it's night time and me (I'm pregnant) and my boyfriend are puking our guts out, our stomachs started hurting a few hours after eating the shrimp and now we can't hold any food/water down without throwing up.... I just thought it was my pregnancy but I haven't gotten nauseous once and my boyfriend shouldn't feel the same way as well. My wife enjoys this place. Thus the 3 stars. I've never been. Until yesterday. I did not enjoy the experience. At all. First, flies. A restaurant shouldn't have flies. Especially a seafood restaurant (IMHO). I asked the waiter about them. He says they can't get rid of them. Then, the food. It's tasteless. At least salt the fried stuff. The shrimp tastes like the hush puppies which taste like the fish. The fries are fairly decent, though. No seasoning, no option to have a Cajun heat added at cook time. Only bottles of hot sauces. Things to make your fried, crispy stuff soggy. We had the crab cakes appetizer. The price was "market value." There isn't a sign up with what the current market values are. The crab cakes did not have any lump crab in them. Nothing to make them worth being on the menu priced as market value. And, again, pretty much no flavor. In fact, they looked uniform in size and shape.. Frozen? They have a cocktail sauce (served in to-go cups) and it is very mild. Like horseradish is rare like truffles. Cocktail sauce needs heat otherwise it might as well be ketchup, right? But, they do have a Cajun tarter sauce that's decent. Which is interesting... They know how to make a flavorful sauce which means they know how to use spices and whatnot. Their coleslaw was pretty good though. I love a nice creamy based coleslaw. -- My wife will be back. Love this place. Like... it's the kind of spot where you'll be like "take my money and give me all the delicious seafood!" The service is always just amazing. The quantities are spectacular and they broke out the crawfish before anyone else this year. They expanded their place and I'm happy they made it through the last couple of years... we love this business and they have consistently earned our loyalty. I give this place 2 stars because it is advertised as Cajun/Creole but it is definitely NOT! The waitress was really nice and attentive so that's why I'm giving 2 stars otherwise I would give this place 0 stars. Shrimp, catfish and oysters were not seasoned very well AND what type of hushpuppies are those?! They are small as heck! Been here a couple of times now. Visited tonight and received the best service from multiple people. Food is always delicious, service is extra friendly, and it's just a really nice place to go out to eat. We've had the Combo Packets, fried baskets, calamari, shrimp cocktail, and beignets and all were really tasty. The fried catfish has some kind of seasoning on it that adds a little something extra. They just expanded the size of this location and they now have more bar space, tables, and tv's. We have enjoyed going here and will continue to do so! read more

So... what's the deal with this place? You can't order online. It always says "online order not available" We tried calling to place an order and every time it rings we would get a voice mail saying that they are busy with another customer so they hang up, we waited and called back and couldn't get a hold of anyone. Loved the shrimp and drink cocktails. The customer service is excellent. My son has a shellfish allergy and they customized a grilled chicken with broccoli just for him. I'm gonna be real. I don't write reviews. This place is the only food I had all day, I was on my lunch break and I decided to try something new. Two hours after eating a shrimp poboy and boudin balls I started feeling really nauseous. For twelve hours and I'm not exaggerating I was in the bathroom puking my soul up. Not even able to drink water. Now I don't know about you, but puking like that for that long changes you. Obviously it was food poisoning. 1) Cajun seasoning tastes like marinara... No really, it has tomatoes and oregano as the most forward flavors. 2) Our waitress was noticeably drunk and was visibly taking drinks from the bar, the hostess provided better table service than the drunk waitress. 3) The drunk waitress was not forthcoming about the market price of certain meats (mostly crab) when we inquired and only stated that they varied. I understand varying market prices for seafood but I don't understand why we wouldn't be allowed to have those prices prior to ordering (my assumption is that it had more to do with the obviously intoxicated state of our waitress than company policy, but still a pain point nonetheless). read more

Found this on Yelp and it's near a Walmart and wanted to go check it out for Crawfish and crab! It was so good I brought my husband back to the fried shrimp!I ordered the 2 pounds of Crawfish with potatoes and corn and sausage and garlic butter and medium heat! You can choose your flavor and spice level! It comes in a boil bag and the crawfish are large! They also have a full bar and you can order a hurricane if you want and any other drink! We also ordered crab cake appetizers which were good! With Remoulade sauce! It was so good! The shrimp comes with Cajun fries and hush puppies.The crawfish were perfect! They were so good! Sad to write this review. My experience there underlines my theory (As a former restaurant owner / operator) That a place won't run itself. We arrived today, Sunday at 4:pm. We were greeted and seated promptly in the dining room. At that time, there were only a few diners there so, what happened to us is really inexcusable. We were approached promptly by a server who took our drink orders. The drinks came quickly and we gave our orders. I ordered a cup of gumbo and an oyster basket that came with fried oysters and (My choice) hush puppies. My wife ordered a salad with fried chicken. The salad came out pretty quickly . The salad was just okay , it came with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes , boiled egg quarters and bacon. The bacon was diced but not at all crispy or flavorful. The chicken was a big portion and was good. My oyster basket was AWOL. we saw people who came in after us who received their orders of fried items. I finally waved to a server to find out where my food was. She said that she would tell our server. Our server came out with my order and said 'We were wondering whose order that was". I asked for some tarter sauce (They had brought ranch dressing). While she was getting the sauce, I bit into a hush puppie and an oyster, both weren't even warm. By that time, my wife was well into her salad. Our server offered to have another basket prepared but by that tie, I had no confidence in what I would receive. Here are the obvious problems : No presence of management and a staff not working as a team. We also saw two attempts to deliver food to the wrong tables. If the operators see this, you need to do better. Clearly , some people like this place including my daughter's family but our visit was a disaster. read more

I went over the summer with my sis and her friend... spent over $100 for 3 people who didn't even order a lot. The food lacked flavor. The crawfish looked like it was going to be amazing with the garlic and all that but there was no heat (even though I asked for it to be spicy) and just really only tasted minimally like garlic. Fabulous seafood. I wanted to make sure we tasted multiple different menu items so we ordered: shrimp po boy, shrimp cocktail, shrimp basket (ok so we kinda overdid it on the shrimp ), catfish basket, jambalaya, and grilled catfish. Added in hush puppies, steamed veggies, and dirty rice as sides to the baskets. Also got a pound of mild sausage with garlic butter seasoning. Can I just tell you we were about to POP even after just TASTING everything???? My favorite was the fried catfish and shrimp. The crispy outside was to DIE FOR. We definitely will be back! This is the best crawfish I've ever had in Austin!! I got the captain combo (two pounds of crawfish with sausage, potato, corn, and a boiled egg) with the mix of seasonings and extra spicy. I've been to Sawyer, Kasian Boil, Crawfish Shack, CR Surf n Turf and Deckhand's, and I think THIS is the best crawfish in the Austin area. The crawfish was decent sized with a few bigger ones, and it was cooked so you can actually get juice when you suck the heads and the meat just slides out when you peel the crawfish. Like anyone that knows how to eat crawfish, I made sure to eat the ones buried at the bottom of the boil to get lots of juice when I suck the heads, and my finger were burning because the boil was still hot, even though I got it to go and had to bring it home. The only downside is I felt like the potatoes were undercooked or didn't soak enough in the boil because they were still kind of hard in the middle and didn't get much of the flavor. But the sausage had a lot of flavor. My boyfriend got the gumbo and he said it wasn't the best gumbo he's ever had but it's pretty good. read more

WOW! They're going to need a bigger space. Came here tonight for dinner and I am absolutely blown away. It's hard to pick a spot to start because there's nothing wrong with this place, at all. We were immediately greeted by a variety of friendly, and mask wearing, staff members and seated wherever we liked. Their sweet tea doesn't have any dirty aftertaste like some restaurants do. It is SO good! But not too sweet. Admittedly we ordered a lot of food. The egg rolls were very cabbage forward, still delicious and tiny but they had a bunch already cut in half (yay for faster cooling, because they were super hot and FRESH!) I got the Snow crab boil combo w/10 shrimp, got the "bottom of the sea" seasoning with mild heat and OMG YALL! I was in Heaven!!! They offer butter to go with it. It came with 2 potatoes, 1 corn on the cob and 1 boiled egg. They bring a bucket for scraps. The catfish was good too, but I have tried Cherry Creek Catfish (RIP) so it's not like that but still flakey and tasted good. The crawfish were HUGE! After everything and being taken care of VERY WELL by our sweet waitress, she offered beignets! They were yummy too, especially with alllll of the powdered sugar and chocolate syrup. Mm. The Cajun crawfish boil is great! We bought crawfish by the lbs and snow crab by the cluster. The crawfish doesn't come with corn, sausage or potatoes so if you like the extra fixings then I'd recommend getting the combo plate. The hush puppies are BOMB! Came here for lunch, looks like a new updated menu. Separate lunch menu with all choices $10.50. Awesome lunch menu selection. Our party of 3 came in around 3 PM, place was empty so we got Awesome service but we've never not had great service here. We got the po'boy, the lunch boil with garlic butter & the catfish.
