Better than the other bay area places I frequently shop at, but it is also a little more expensive (5 cents or so more for each item). However, I still feel the prices are reasonable for the quality. Atmosphere - 3 stars Very small to go place. Menu had no pictures. No restrooms. Service - Very quick in and out; almost too quick for first time customers. Not friendly, but not rude. They were probably just in a hurry to get the non-stop long line of customers out. Price - $105 CASH; and you guys nickel and dime us? Had to pay for extra soy sauce. Almost no napkins or utensils were given to us. Do you think I am only feeding 2 people with $105 worth of dim sum? We brought our own cooler, but am sure I would have had to pay for bags also. Owner Suggestion - Congrats on your success, I am sure you do not need my suggestions. You need pictures, maybe posted outside for newer customers to decide what they want. Would have been nice to accept credit cards as not all of us carry so much cash, but I guess not everyone buys $105 of dim sum either. Another suggestion would be your outside line, which crosses. Maybe direct your customers one way for an even faster and smoother transition. We have to walk through your line to exit. Friends and family suggest we open another one in the area that has online ordering, good friendly customer service and accepts credit cards. People typically/statistically spend more when using a credit card. Maybe give the option of a "cash" discount. read more

Happened to be in the area, but sadly, they were sold out of their famous pork bao (steamed and baked) in less than 2 hours on a Sunday after opening at 7am. So disappointed. There was a line so I wasn't going to leave empty handed. I ended up getting 6 siu mai, 2 sesame balls, 2 spring rolls, and 1 chicken curry baked bao for a total of $14. Everything was delicious, except the little crispy spring rolls which were just ok and also the cheapest item in the display case ($0.70/ea). Will have to return right when they open or maybe on a weekday to get my hands on some of those popular buns! Pro tip: Go early and order by the dozen. ABC Bakery makes good Cha Siu Bao and Hot Dog Buns. Their chicken feet and har gow (shrimp dumpling) are not very good but it'll scratch the itch if you're craving it. Their chicken feet is better than Ranch 99 fwiw. There aren't very many take out dim sum places near Elk Grove, just know what to order! read more

Do not expect warm smiles or a cordial greeting. It is stand in line and get on up to the cashier counter when they call out "next". You tell them what you want and they bag it for you. You don't get to see the items. So if you are a newbie and are unfamiliar with the menu items, I recommend you do your pre- prep to familiarize yourself. Plus they will not place your items in a pink bakery box no matter how much you buy. I even offer to pay $1 for the box. On my last visit, again I was denied a box. I bought over 20 items (over $40) and received my items in a few styrofoam containers and a bunch snack size paper bags. One day... maybe I would get a pink box. The bakery and dim sum items are ok. But the customer service just brings me down. Coming here reminds me of the Seinfeld TV episode of the Soup Guy. Please go in early of the day. They open Tues-Sundays 7am-4pm I think. Everything is a must try. If you don't know what to pick, just start out with the hot ones: egg tarts, siu mai, shrimp dumplings, steamed/baked bbq pork buns. They are around $1-2 each. They have sweet dessert, too. White rice cakes and mochi are my favorite!! You CAN order them individually in any quantity!! The service is quick, though there's usually a long line. I was expecting a line out the door at noon on a Thursday but surprisingly there wasn't. Only a few people ahead of us and it went by quickly. There's plenty of parking out in the front. The space is pretty small. Only enough to order what you need and get out. A lot of their single food items were listed around $1.30-$2.00 each or you can buy them as a dozen to save you a couple of dollars! I love their red bean mocha dessert! It's addicting. I just wish it they gave us chili oil with our to go orders! Some of them items were super greasy like the beef brisket and noodles and the pork fried dumplings, but nonetheless.. still tasty! This place has been on my list for a year. Finally got a chance to check it out during the pandemic. I miss the to-go dim sum places back home in Oakland. This place was definitely a nice throwback. There was a line when I arrived, and Xs outside to indicate social distancing. They require masks and have plexiglass barriers. You get in and order from whomever is available at the time. Siu mai were really good, I like them better than at actual sit-down dim sum restaurants in the area. Egg tarts have puff pastry, my favorite type of crust! The filling tastes good too. They were fresh out of the oven when I ordered them so they cut a hole on the box to allow them to breathe and preserve the crispiness. Ha cheung fun (shrimp rice rolls), the skin is slightly thicker than I prefer but all the flavors were there. Would definitely continue to get them though. Nai wong bao (custard bun), they're huge! This place is solid. Their siu mai are big, meaty, and moist! The ham sui gok (pork turnovers/dumplings) were delicious. The glutinous rice was just sweet enough to perfectly compliment the savory filling. The kids loved the baked bbq pork buns. I wish I would've ordered more. This place gets really packed and the line goes out to the door so be sure to get here early enough to get the good stuff and beat the crowds. The space inside is small and it's also loud in there so you have to make sure you're loud enough to be heard otherwise they will get your order wrong. Come early and get your dim sum hot and fresh. My favorite was their shumai and baked bbq pork bun. This place was a GREAT find! Shumai was excellent and lots of flavor. This has been my little gem since a friend recommended it to me! Dim sum has always been comfort food to me so it was so amazing to find this place! Nothing has disappointed so far from the siu mai, to the shrimp dumplings (ha gow) to the dan tats. Their menu is in Chinese and English but it does go pretty quickly! When you go to order, they'll ask you how many of each item you want and sometimes it can get a little overwhelming to keep track of what you already ordered so I'd recommend making a list! Came here on a weekday morning with friends who love this bakery. First time for me. Excited to see the different choices and was excited to find rice noodles with shrimp. All the food is satisfying. Only complaint is that I couldn't tell what the portion sizes were from the menu. Most can be bought individual or by the dozen. I ended up buying a little of everything. There was a little line, but it is to be expected as they limit how many people can be in the store at one time. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be a regular customer. read more

ABC Bakery has become inconsistent in their quality and taste. As a long, long patron, I regret I look elsewhere for good Chinese pastries. ABC has grown nicely and the front staff are efficient but the food quality seems to fluctuate. The seasonings are way off or the shrimp is tasteless, the pork is ground too finely yet inedible gristle is still there on occasion, but worse yet the pork is missing the requisite flavor the bun is famous for. The bakery is doing a good business but in my opinion in the rush they are not maintaining their quality control. And that is too bad. read more

Sacramento Staple!! Yes, their BAKED BBQ PORK BUNS are delicious but so are their pineapple buns, curry chicken and curry beef buns and nothing compares to their hot dog buns. ABC makes a decent Chinese pastry, but ABC charges far too much for lack of competition. Asking $17 for a dozen shrimp or pork dumplings is highway robbery--no excuse of inflation or supply chain issues can justify pricing. The lack of competition means customers are being squeezeď. If you want authentic Asian bakery goods and in Sacramento, this is the place to go. I assume they make everything fresh the day of or night of because they run out really quick. Everyone buys everything in bulk so by the time I went, they were already low on the pineapple buns and all out of the cakes. The prices are decent. The service was very quick even with the long lines. The staff were all really kind. The interior is very simple with no real decorations. There's no seating if you planned on eating before you leave. I ordered the mantou, pineapple bun, hot dog bun, and BBQ pork bun. They all tasted great! It's perfect to put in your fridge and heat one up for a quick breakfast or snack! Definitely will be back when I visit Sacramento. read more

ABC Bakery offers your traditional dim sum dishes to go! Wasn't the best dim sum I've ever but for the price totally worth it! What I liked: * affordability: everything ranges from around dollar to six dollars depending on the item. You have the option to buy per piece or by the dozen. * options: some of the items offered by the bakery I thought were unique, such as their curry buns and puff pastries. * quick service/line moves fast What I didn't like: * I went around noon but some of the items I wanted were already sold out (place opens at 7 and closes at 4). * ordering: as you move through the line you're able to look at the different type of options of dim sum and pastries you want through the display. However, you have to remember what you want to get/order because a lot of the items shown in the display aren't written in the menu. I wish you could order as you move through the line instead. What I ordered: * pork dumpling, shu mai (3.5/5) * shrimp dumpling (4.5/5) * fried pork dumpling (3.5/5) * baked curry bun (4/5) * baked bbq pork bun (4/5) I typically like pork dumplings more than shrimp, however, I enjoyed their shrimp dumplings! Hands down the best bbq pork buns in Sacramento! Have been going here since I was a kid. Service is good and super quick. Typical small shop bakery ambiance nothing too fancy just the perfect amount to get what you need and leave. The line can get insane so get there early! But I would definitely recommend the pork buns and hot dog buns. So flavorful and everything is always fresh. I've lived in Sac for more than 18 years now and I didn't even know this place existed nor did I know when it opened. My cousin randomly asked me if I wanted some siopao that my godson picked up at this bakery and asked if I had ever been there. I thought he was talking about one of the dim sum restaurants in South Sac but he was talking about this bakery. I was in the area and decided to swing by to see if they had any more steamed buns, siopao, shrimp dumplings, siomai, and egg tarts. What do you know, we (my son and I) arrive here and there's no line and they have everything I came here for EXCEPT the egg tarts...mind you we were here about 1 and 1/2 hours before their closing time. I call that a win. There were 2 workers that were quick with my order. There are clear signs that they only accepted credit cards or debit cards. They were in luck because that's all I had on me at the time. It was definitely a win win day for me. The shopping area this place is located in is the Bel Air (or was it Raleys? Same difference, right?) shopping area. There are a bunch of little shops and food spots in the area as well. It's in a high traffic area so please drive carefully and pay attention to the main street traffic. Anyway, This spot is actually located in the middle to the side of Bel Air. I found it pretty quickly even though Google Maps was trying to guide me as best as it could. I found parking right in front and I was well on my way. This place is small and no nonsense. Everything they have is on the board and how much, by piece and by dozen. They have glass cases but I already knew what I wanted so I wasn't too interested in what was the cases. Plus, I came pretty late so whatever was in their case would've probably been put away or they were in the process of putting them away. When we arrived at home, the items I purchases were still pretty warm and fresh. I was mildly surprised at how big the steamed buns and siopao were and how they remained pretty warm all the way home. The shrimp dumpling and siomai were still warm too. The siomai and shrimp dumplings were larger than the ones at Ranch99. Everything was delicious. I would definitely come back here...probably earlier in the day since it's a lot closer and it's off of I-5 rather than 99. Hopefully the next time I come back they'll have egg tarts...those are my favorite. read more

Driving by Sacramento and I had this place bookmarked. So glad we stopped by and got some dimsum. When we got there, there was a line(social distancing) but it moved fast but gave me enough time to decide what to get as we were bringing it back to Vegas. We got pork buns both baked and steam- they gave me an option to get semi frozen ones to store at my freezer and microwave to eat. Im glad they gave me that suggestion. I got 3 dozen and wish I got more. The siomai were big and tasted great. I was able to try some Mochi, steak custard bun, and baked curry buns. All where so good.
