I called Above All to diagnosis a noise from my AC blower in my attic. They were responsive and respectful. They recommended that I replace the entire blower unit at the cost of $1800 and provided a diagnosis for why. I obtained a 2nd opinion pretty confident in what they told me was correct but wanted to make sure I was making an informed decision. Ultimately the 2nd company I contacted completed the repair for $600 and in my opinion provided a more valuable service as they performed a comprehensive inspection of my entire system. Our AC went out in the middle of July. We called up a different company that tried to pull a fast one on us and claimed our whole system needed to be replaced. Unethical, disrespectful, uncoordinated, incompetent, unprofessional, unreasonable, irresponsible, overpriced They took a simple job, had me pay a high price to replace the wrong part, refused to determine the source of the problem in their attempt to con me into paying tens of thousands of dollars for an unnecessary new system. My Story: The central heating was malfunctioning. They came to diagnose and said it was a circuit board. They replaced it. The system ran for a couple days, then the same set of symptoms appeared. When they came back, they stated they could not determine the source of the problem and that the only thing to do is replace the entire system which would be over $10,000. When I insisted they complete their diagnosis and determine the source of the problem, they stated they could not. That same day, I had a local technician come out and they immediately found that a motor was failing, which explained the symptoms. It would stop working when it would overheat. This technician stated that the board that was replaced by Above All was likely to be fine because if it were bad, they whole unit would not work at all. After replacing the motor, everything has been working perfectly for weeks now. Unethical and/or incompetent- They attempted to con me into buying a whole unit at $10,000 when all that was needed was a $100 motor. To give them the benefit of the doubt, we would have to concluded that they failed to diagnose the problem being the motor on four different visits (1st [diagnosis - bad circuit board], 2nd [day of repair], 3rd [diagnosis - bad thermostat], 4th [diagnosis - entire system bad]). The thermostat was fine by the way. Disrespectful - Pete spoke with anger and raised his voice at me over the phone when he last called me. He also had the habit of speaking over me when I tried to ask questions, object to him, or offer information. The technician Andy would use his words to distort the truth and make things seem like he was doing more than he was and the problems were bigger than they were. Uncoordinated - One time, Pete sent the technicians at the wrong time on the wrong day. The technicians began working without my presence despite being told not to. Unprofessional and Irresponsible - They would not acknowledge any mistakes they made, despite all the evidence. Pete refused to take any blame and instead accused others as being incompetent (the renters, the property manager, and even his technicians). Unreasonable - After having the system fixed by the second technician company I wished to negotiate with Above All for reimbursement. They rejected any solution involving any sort of refund and what they offered was to do a cleaning. Overpriced - after speaking with other technicians, I realized what they charged for their work was greatly overpriced. This is an updated review of one I posted a number of years ago. I was so happy with the previous service so I made sure I called Pete when our unit finally went bad. He replaced the outside unit, but at that time did not replace the inside unit. Unfortunately through no fault of his, the outside portion that we were set up with ended up being a lemon. Pete tried everything he could to try and get the outside unit working properly, and also ended up replacing the inside portion (which was sorely needed). After attempting a number of repairs, Pete replaced the outside unit. This new unit is working better than the first one ever did. Great to see a company stand behind their work. This company was 100% fantastic. I had met with 2 company's on the day that our AC went out, happened to be one of the hottest days this year so far and my wife is 9 months pregnant and could go into labor any minute. So this was on a Friday morning that I had multiple companies come by to give me a quote. I called this company cause they are local and seemed like an honest company. I had called mostly just to check on these other quotes, I ended up talking to Pete the owner and he spent 15 minutes educating me on AC and told me over the phone compared to my other quotes that he could do $4,000 less than the lower quote of the two companies. I said can you make it out today since we want to do this before Monday or Tuesday when it will be 103 degrees in Temecula, and he moved some things around in his schedule and came by that afternoon. This business would not provide me an estimate before performing work. I asked for a quote twice before work was performed but none was provided. After I was charged $335 for a 20 minute job installing a part that I could have bought for $25, they told me they don't give quotes and I should have instead asked them for a "cost"... whatever that means. Frustrated. They came out to look at my system and determined it was low on refrigerant. It was only two years old. I asked them about leaks and they assured me the previous installer left refrigerant low. They started adding refrigerant without discussing price. He handed me the bill and I thought he was joking for an hour worth of work. 5 pounds plus capacitor came to $700 - had no idea R410a cost $100/pound. It is now six months later. System not working again. I called and they said I must have a leak. Just threw away $500+ in refrigerant. They told me to refill I would have to pay 1/2 the cost of the refrigerant and a leak test would be additional $3,000. And they can't get to it for 30 days. Always get an estimate before authorizing work. No trust in this company who is claiming to be "All Above". read more

My heat went out and I called Above All. Pete responded and was able to be onsite within about an hour. I'm running a 17 year old system that needed some new parts and hadnt been serviced in a very long time. Service call was only supposed to be $50-60, but they ended up doing some useless repair up in my attic, and ended up charging me almost $100, and tried to tell me I need a whole new system. I had them out to replace a capacitor on my AC when it went out 4-5 years ago which went bad again a few weeks after they looked at my unit as mentioned above, and the new company I had repair it was $100 less than what Above All charged me 4-5 years ago.
