I needed a new furnace and AC unit, and Optimal Air was one of the businesses I contacted. Jim's wife, Amy, was awesome and was able to squeeze in a last minute consult on our requested day. Jim came out and we were immediately impressed with his demeanor. It was like talking to a friend, and he did not come across as a sales guy. He listened to what we wanted, and explained all the options. He even measured all the registers on that day. Communication was a 10/10. His wife Amy always responded to my calls and text messages. When we received the quote, it was a lot less than we were expecting, which was a plus for us. He quoted us on an AC Pro model, but asked if he could provide a quote for an American Standard system, which he had no problem with. Ultimately, we decided to go with using AC Pro which based on his recommendation and on top of research my husband and I did on the brand. The scheduling of the work was fast, and it was scheduled the following Monday. They arrived on time and got straight to work. I'm a bit of a clean freak, so I asked that they use shoe covers if needing to step outside of the work area. Jim and his workers were respectful of my wishes, and I appreciated that they respected our home. They finished in a day and did a great job cleaning the work area. We just bought our house less than a year and were faced and still dealing with many unexpected problems. THANK YOU!!!! I had an issue with my AC making a buzzing sound and the fan would not spin. I had another company come out. What a Nightmare! Of course they wanted me to buy a new unit from $8k-$35k. I contacted Optimal Air back in Sept 2018 to receive information and approximate pricing for relocating our AC Condenser that the builder installed next to our patio slider. I explained to Amy that our timeline to actually schedule the job would be in Nov. 2018. Amy was very professional and friendly throughout our communications to figure out the best way to schedule an appointment for Jim to visit our backyard and give me a better price quote and explanation of the work he would perform. Jim showed up promptly on the appointed date and time to provide a more definitive job bid. It was also a nice touch for Amy to leave me a message giving me an ETA of when Jim would arrive. Jim just finished the relocation project. He and his HVAC tech. were both friendly, worked neatly and in a timely manner. Jim tested my entire system to make sure it was performing in a satisfactory manner checking the rooms upstairs for the AC cooling temp. out of the ceiling registers. He patiently taught me how to clean the condenser of dirt dust with a garden hose once our landscape contractor's crew is finished with our backyard. Are you like us and just purchased a home with a 30+ year old AC unit? Well, I'm here to tell you that I was ready to replace it in its entirety within the first month of moving in thinking it would need replacing. We had only been turning on the AC at night before bed until just last week when we had a heatwave in the 100+ weather during the day. We noticed our thermostat would actually raise in temperature instead of cool our house. We would set it to 75 and it would go up to 89. Seeing as how we had just moved in we wanted to have the AC looked over, but now with the AC not working properly we had an urgency to have someone come out. My husband coordinated an appointment for today when we both would be available. They were very accommodating, and communicated with him leading up to the appointment. Jim was personable, honest, and took the time to go over what the issues might be and went over the system as a whole. Jim's level of professionalism is top notch. The business is family owned and local. It's not every day the owner is who does the service calls. We recently moved here from Chicago, our real estate agent actually recommended him. Very happy she did! My husband and I have never had an AC unit this old before. Jim answered ALL of our questions, inspected the unit inside and out, he thoroughly cleaned the furnace and the condenser, he added 3lb of coolant, he improved the existing drain with new pvc piping on the furnace. Jim from Optimal Air came out, assessed the situation and fixed the problem. He charged me $780.00 for the whole job and was extremely professional. Amy, who answered the phone was knowledgeable and kept me informed when Jim was going to arrive. They made my wife and I very comfortable and followed Covid-19 safety protocols. We really appreciated that. This was not a company that low-balls on pricing. Optimal Air was a knowledgeable and honest company that takes pride in helping their customers by doing the right thing. Optimal Air was recommended to me by a neighbor when my A/C suddenly went out a few days before we had a planned trip. I got several estimates and they beat everyone by several thousand dollars and were able to get the new condenser installed within the week. I like that they are a smaller company, with the wife taking the calls and her husband and another technician doing the work, I feel that must cut down on the overhead, which they pass on to the customer with an amazing price. Excellent customer service! Our AC unit hadn't died completely, but was not performing as well as usual and I noticed Ice on the line going into the unit outside. I googled a bit first and cleaned my filter (which was pretty bad), but since it was going to be 100+ the next day I figured I should also get someone out to look at it. I called a few different people who either were not open yet or were already booked for the day, then I called Optimal and spoke with Amy. She was very knowledgeable and basically told me that I cleaning the filter had probably solved the issue and I should watch it for the day and save myself the service call fee. To clarify, though, it wasn't a blow off call. She was very re-assuring and kept my information in case things didn't go well and I needed them to come out later in the day. That evening the system had, in fact, performed well all day so I called her back to let her know. Again, very polite and sounded like she genuinely cared that it was working well. Fast forward to the next day and she texted me to check in and confirm that things were still working. How awesome is that!!! Definitely a level of service I am not used to and not the typical HVAC experience. If you have anything wrong with your AC and you are in their service area, I'd definitely call them first.
