We have used Rizzo twice now for air conditioning and heating installation. The first time was several years ago, after my husband did all the research of yelp reviews and price comparisons against other companies. When we needed a/c and heating replacement on a new home purchase, once again we chose Rizzo to do the work. Though we had other quotes that were within range (actually lower) of what Rizzo had quoted us, we decided to go with Rizzo because we knew we could count on them to do a good job based on the service we received on our first install. And a great job they did this second time too! We didn't actually see Mr. Rizzo on this second job. It was Alex who came out to assess replacement of our very old unit, explain recommendations, answer questions, and gave us a quote before he left our property, consulting Mr. Rizzo by phone. Note: we had to wait several days to receive a quote from the other competing vendors. About one week later, Alex and crew showed up in the morning and finished the work before 1pm! Everything was executed quickly, cleanly, and professionally. I also really like the Ecobee WiFi enabled thermosat. Not only does it look good, it's super user friendly. Can't say enough good things about this company. They installed my system 10 years ago (information they knew when they came out for a service call) when I noticed it was in need of service. They came out within 1 day and took time to troubleshoot the problem. All I could see was $$$ signs. After a good 40 minutes, the tech, Alex, was done. He came in and explained what he did and why in a manner that I understood. He suggested I get on their reminder list for my next service. He said they would call me when the next cleaning would be due. Yep, it just needed to be cleaned out! While he was on the roof he also hosed off my skylights and panels. So where do I start... These guys have done work for me in the past, and even for the previous home owner. Their sticker is on my furnace. After coming home to inspect the repair from earlier in the day, I noticed the exposed wires and missing bolts...see my attached photos. I'm not sure what it is with businesses these days, but they'd rather tell you to pound sand, then to make good on a simple request. Granted, Alex, the repair guy who came out, was going to come back out and fix the wire situation...but not after trying to defend his reasoning for leaving them that way. But after I called back and got a little more forceful about the missing hardware, he began to tell me that putting two bolts in the top cover was "rebuilding" my older unit, that he professed he left in much better condition then he found it. Maybe so, given the fact that the blower motor had ceased, and he was there to replace it!!! After telling him that I'd be posting a less than favorable review on Yelp...he basically said fine, go ahead and post it. Had Alex from Rizzo's out today, been living in freezing temps since our furnace went out 5 days ago, had Steves out, waste of money and time, so tried Rizzos, another disappointment. He diagnosed a bad circuit board, which may or may not fix the problem, still dont know, but he said it could cost up to $800 for a circuit board! I told him I'd replaced the last one ten years ago and paid around $100 for it and found it hard to believe it would cost that much more now. I discussed ordering it online myself and after paying them $75 for todays visit, they left, I found the board online for $160 and after attempting to reach him twice, text message and voice mail, with no success just ordered it because it wont be here until next week, the parts place is on the east coast. Finally managed to get a hold of him at 6:30 tonight, he stated to me "Oh, I thought you were going to install it yourself" I never said that to him! I have no idea how to install a circuit board and said I'd been waiting to hear back from him on cost to install. He said "we dont install parts bought by customers"! This, after our discussion that I might just go ahead and order it myself. The only difference between his ordering it and my ordering it, it would be the same part, was his MARK UP/PROFIT! He stated it would be a "liability", really, to install the same part you'd have to purchase yourself?! So there you have it, if you want to get reamed by all means use this company, if you want fair, honest and affordable, keep searching! UPDATE: Just saw "Mikes" response below, I never spoke to him except to set up the original appointment! I spoke to Alex, never a word about OEM parts, never said a word about him having to order the part himself, so in addition to everything else I've told you here they're also liars! The part I ordered for $160, MIKE, is the ONLY part available - this is a 30 year old furnace!!!! They dont MAKE OEM parts for this furnace anymore and THIS board is the exact same one I had installed ten years ago! This IS the replacement part for this furance period. Telling me what you told me on the phone is total bs, we never discussed any of this at all, I had no idea the circuit board was the problem when I spoke to you to set up this appointment, nor did you! My AC didn't turn on when I switched it on in the morning. Checked on yelp for some pros in the area. Found Rizzo for the prompt response time they had on yelp. Called them around 1 pm tech said he can be there between 3-5pm. Right on time. Mike inspected what was going on and found shortage in thermostat wire. Hello Yelpers, Just wanted to share our experience with Rizzo Heating & Air Conditioning with the hope that this review helps someone looking for an honest, humane and expert Heating and Air Conditioning company. Prior to engaging Mike Rizzo, we called a much bigger well known company based on the reviews on this forum. The technician showed up and claimed the circuit board was out and most likely the cylinder was also defective and gave a quote for 2k to replace the parts. Out of desperation and giving we have a 2weeks old baby at home we gave the technician a deposit to procure the parts without seeking a second opinion. He promised to come back the next day or 2 days maximum with the new parts and complete the work. As of the time of this post, the technician has not showed up or call us despite expressing our frustration to the company's dispatcher. In the meantime our house was freezing cold all through the holiday with 3 kids all under the age of 7. Then yesterday, on new year eve, we texted Rizzo as our plan B based on the glowing reviews learned about him on this forum, he texted us back almost immediately that he was out of town but can come to our house first thing on new year day (today) to check the problem. He showed up on time and spent about an hour troubleshooting the system and alas the system worked without changing any parts. At this point, if Mike had asked for any amount for restoring the system we are prepared to pay giving the suffering our family had gone through in cold house over the holiday. Instead Mike Rizzo did not charge us a cent, he also volunteered to come back if the system stops working for any reason and additional work is needed to restore it. This gesture from Mike strengthened our family faith in mankind knowing that there are honest, skillful and humane professionals out there. Found this company frantically searching for an emergency repair for an unknown issue regarding tenants A/C unit. After initially being quoted an outrageous, I mean REAAALLLY OFFENSIVE (pretty woman movie reference) beyond absurd price with another company, Mike sent out his guy despite their busy schedule, got the job done on the spot and for a very reasonable price. Called Rizzo is desperation during an unexpected Tuesday heat wave in the morning and Mike Rizzo, owner visited in the early afternoon. Since the Freon had escaped for the second time we had zero cooling taking place. My heating and air conditioning system needed replacement. While I knew the end was near having nursed the Freon [F22] for two years, of course it was a blow [in this case a blow of very hot air] to replace such an expensive house appliance. I have never replaced nor do I expect to ever replace again another heating and air conditioning unit. I had heard horror stories of costs ranging up to the cost of my first home back in the sixties. I did some research and accepted the diagnosis and braced for the worse in replacement. While the cost of replacing the entire system heat and air system because of the Freon being unavailable in 2020, I "bit the bullet" and asked Mike what an adequate system would cost. I was pleasantly surprised and turned the rest over to Mike. Our install date was three days later, gratefully Mike put F22 Freon temporarily into our system to carry us to install. His estimate included increasing the diameter of the duct work in the two most distant rooms from the distribution point to increase air flow at those locations. We are now getting cold air to those front rooms that were upgraded with larger connect ducts as never before. Installers came and in five hours we had a new effective heating and air conditioning system installed My wife by the way was very impressed by the appropriateness of language used by the crew and the congeniality of all associated with our install. read more

Just had Mike from Rizzo Heating & Air Conditioning come to my new house and fix my AC. The house is only 3 years old and we just closed on it 2 weeks ago. Well out of nowhere the AC stopped working. I checked all the breakers and nothing had tripped. Well Mike shows up and saves the day. Within a few minutes he had the system up and running. We started talking for a few minutes and I told Mike the previous home owner used to have the digital thermostat hooked up where he could control the thermostat from his smart phone and it was tied into the home alarm system but the previous homeowner took it with him. So Mike said he could put a new digital thermostat in for me and I told him go for it. Well its a good thing I had Mike do the new thermostat because the previous homeowner incorrectly installed the thermostat and if we were to turn on the heat the fuse would have burned up!!! Mike installed a new digital thermostat upstairs and will be back on Monday to do the downstairs thermostat. Some things are just better left to the professionals to install!!! Called for a diagnostic on my air system for my home. A guy from Rizzo air came within 2hrs & within only a few min said I need 2 brand new capacitors for $300 each.. That's $600 total! I told him I need a second opinion, so he charged me $75 to come out. I advised him that nobody advised me of this charge, he argued that they definitely did when I know they didn't. I was adamant that they didn't, so he disregarded the charge & left me the quote for $600 I called Amber Air, which came out within 30 min & they did explain the fee of $65 to come out, they also did a proper diagnostic. Wired one unit correctly & replaced only one capacitor.. Not two! For $159 per capacitor!!! Not $300!!!! They also replaced all three filters in my home so my air flows smoothly.. Total charge for wiring, new capacitor (with 5yr warrantee), 3 filters & courteous & prompt customer service... ? 306.20!!! Half price for 100% better service read more
